johnie:Well if you get knocked up at age 17-18, of course you are less likely to have a happy life ![]() Gotta make better decisions. . . |
It looks like there is a decent chance that this politics section poster of the year will become a bit of a joke. I wouldn't ordinarily comment on stuff like this while it is in progress, but before you vote you must ask yourself, is this person truly amongst the best posters on this particular forum of NL? Does this person represent the best reasoning, the best arguments, and the sharpest ideas in this forum? If you were to compile a list of the "best posts/threads of NL", is this person's name going to show up heavily? Ah well. Nigeria in general has difficulty recognizing quality and talent, so perhaps not too surprising that Nairalanders would struggle with the same. If you decide to vote a monkey or a piece of toilet paper as your best poster of the year, that too is your prerogative. It won't make the monkey/toilet paper look bad of course, but it sure as hell will make you look bad. |
lmao @ chino been a while since I've seen someone so thoroughly b1tch slapped ![]() |
Hard to do well in school on an empty stomach |
Which ones? Name some names. Arguably the other major world religion hasn't yet had this reformation, no? How do we know it is a natural process? (Before like you I thought it'd happen naturally with increased wealth, access to education, etc. But is this true?) |
realchange:Interestingly enough. . . (ANSAmed) - AGRIGENTO, NOVEMBER 30 - Five non-EU nationals have been arrested by police in Agrigento on suspicion of acts of violence and, in particular, the murder of immigrants who were thrown alive into the sea. The arrests are part of an ongoing investigation by the prosecutor's office into the crossing of a boat from Libya to Lampedusa on August 4. During the crossing, some migrants suffocated after being crammed into the hold. The body of one of the men was still on the boat and recovered during the rescue operation in Lampedusa.http://www.ansamed.info/ansamed/en/news/sections/generalnews/2011/11/30/visualizza_new.html_11984204.html Hehe |
Yeah he is a Christian. We've been Christians since 1908 or so. I'm not opposed to traditional religion or anything, but I'm just glad that all that sacrifice sh1t they did up to even 1900 is at this point heavily frowned upon. |
The way my father has described the traditional religion to me, it honestly sounded pretty barbaric. Too much focus on human sacrifice and ish. This is why I'm not convinced that the coming of Western religion to Yorubaland and various other parts of Nigeria more generally was such a bad thing. |
Interesting thread. |
I think rather than lamenting and trying to return to what realistically can never be again, the wisest course of action is to figure out how to make the future better. How to empower your people, educate them, how to spend budgets more wisely, how to build roads, bridges, how to bring electricity. At the end of the day, these things are more important than trying to desperately hold onto political power which honestly hasn't done you much good over the past 50-odd years anyway. Clearly it is time to change course. |
Interesting. |
Damn. |
Need more details about how much it will cost, who is paying for it, etc. |
I thought they decided on Abuja as capital during the 70s? Around Murtala Mohammed's time? |
Ask the Brits I suppose why Lagos was made capital. Regarding Abuja, ask the military regimes who chose it. |
Hmm. Removing the subsidy is the correct thing to do, but I suppose more popular to be against it. |
DK, relax man. The past was painful, but it is time to move on. |
chima12:Free market ke? So if I sell accident-damaged vehicles as brand new or used, that is also "free market?" Doing that is fraud and will likely get you jailed. Free market ideology assumes that people aren't selling fake products and marketing them as genuine. |
I said it before and I will say it again, International Thief Thief |
So as a high-schooler who won first place in my division in the county science fair and got a $500 prize (this is a very local science fair btw just for my county, in no way comparable to the big national Westinghouse talent search), should I have been able to charge $5,000 to lecture in Nigeria? Despite being a 16 year old kid? ![]() I just want to know what the ground rules are here. If Emeagwali is legitimate, then I will go to Nigeria and hit you all up for every penny you have. Because if I sum up the amount of competitive prize money I have won over the course of my life up to this time, it is literally 100X+ more than this peanut prize Emeagwali won. And you will have thousands more like me who will be looking for cash. |
Bad belle = calling out a man charging $10k per lecture for winning a $1000 award in school? Lmao If every Nigerian abroad who has won such small money is able to then even collect 2X what they won from Nigeria, Nigeria will go bankrupt. I am just entirely amazing that anyone is trying to defend this |
International Thief Thief |
PHCN is not charging anywhere near N40-60 per kWh. It is on the order of 6-8, iirc. If they did charge 15-20 or so, they'd be self-sustaining and thus able to attract investment. |
At some point in the future I'll jump back into this thread. I can already tell it will take up a decent amount of time/energy to respond, something I won't really have until later in the week. |
This is a different technology from the previous release, right? The old hip-hop was PHP to C++, if I understand it correctly. This otoh is a JIT compiler. |
All I know is if Emeagwali was charging $10k per lecture for winning a $1,000 award, ya'll better empty the bank vault to pay me to give a talk too in naija. Lol. |
na wa o. why are we now discussing skinny vs fat. yes you are very old school. let me update you on d year 2011 dear. there no longer exist the need for fattening rooms. there is an abundance of food (even for the poor) nowadays that being fat is no longer a sign of opulence or good health. srry. there is a plethora of fat women (and men) everywhere and enough fat women in naija to go around. . . 2ce. orobo girls are not going extinct. in naija and abroad there is fat fat fat everywhere. you are so covered on your marriage plans. no need to fret. shikena
lol |
obowunmi:So he was charging $10k per lecture? That is some serious 419. International Thief Thief |
KFC too? Delicious, but deadly. Though I guess if you only eat it occasionally it won't kill you. |
Lol, very entertaining video. Btw that rick ross-looking old man was hilarious. What did he hit her booty with, a stick? ![]() |
Puff puff pass, man. |
