lol @ this thread. . . epic fail |
Why do we believe that Boko Haram has widespread appeal in the north? It seems to have almost all of its strength in the NE, no? I doubt the masses of the NW or NC feel any affinity for it. |
^-- I'm just trying to assemble as much data as I can. Then I can analyze it. So any data, even if rigged will be useful. |
^-- We need individuals getting paid if we are involved in a conflict. No money => no weapons => lose. |
My post was directed at Abagworo who was thinking of a SE/SW alliance. My point is that SE and SW have never voted in congruence. Below is the result from the 1999 election: http://www.electoralgeography.com/new/en/countries/n/nigeria/nigeria-presidential-election-1999.html
Stellar. If anyone has 2003, 2007 voting data handy too, let me know! |
Nobody has even quoted a price from the two indigenous bus companies. To some extent we are all just blathering w/o having #s to compare. |
I have a guess about what that means, but wouldn't mind confirmation ![]() |
Are women guards more trustworthy than men? They shouldn't be much less effective imo (unless it comes down to hand-to-hand combat), since they'll be heavily armed. I think I've read somewhere that women are more accurate with guns than men are, lol. I wonder what motivated his decision. |
@hackney: The point is that you have to pick and choose which industries you want to support in some way. Only a slowpoke (or very wealthy man) heavily subsidizes industries in which he doesn't have a competitive advantage. You look for things where you aren't too far off from what the leader is doing, then subsidize those to try to expand. But for obvious reasons, car manufacturing isn't one of those things for Nigeria at this point in time. @Onlytruth: Feel free to pursue your own dreams. If you are strong enough to make them a reality, that is. . . |
Obiagu1:I'll incorporate this hypothesis of yours into the model. It seems reasonable to me. |
A lot of things about Nigeria puzzle me. Played around with stuff, did some regressions, not completely sure of things. . . going to look at things more closely tomorrow. Here is a plot of 2011 voters registered divided by 2006 population: http://i55.tinypic.com/2efuvkx.jpg I'm suspicious of anything larger than 53% for voters divided by 2006 pop, and anything below 35%. Take Lagos for example. Seems to me that either: A) Lagos voters are by far the most active in Nigeria B) Heavy voting fraud this last cycle in Lagos C) Pop badly underestimated by 2006 census. FCT is probably excusable, due to high pop growth. The rest are question marks. Borno especially. Third highest voting rate in all of Nigeria relative to 2006 census, 1.75 standard deviations above the mean? I don't know, seems odd. Otoh, I don't see how it is possible for Ekiti, Bayelsa, and Niger to have produced such low voter registration #s relative to population unless: A) Very low voter activity B) Pop overestimated/fraudulently calculated in the 2006 census It is starting to make sense to me now that Ekiti is less populated than believed. GDP/capita #s using official #s would have made it one of the poorest states in all of Nigeria. And I don't think Ekiti is that much poorer than Osun overall, tbh. At least from what I've seen. I'm starting to believe that Niger State (and the middle belt more generally) is largely empty. I must say though, Nigeria confuses the hell out of me. . . very strange country. Here is a spreadsheet of data tabulated so far. Let me know if I made any typos/errors: https://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?key=0AsNUaGBnBF1KdE1NSl9CcjV1aXd3UF82YlFaZzlLc0E&hl=en&authkey=CPLfu9oD#gid=1 |
^-- No, I fvcked up and entered bauchi in incorrectly before. . . wrote Benue twice. Let me fix |
Can someone explain to me how Bauchi registered more voters this cycle than their total population in 2006 ![]() Am I insane, misreading something. . . ? EDIT: Badly misread. Typo in spreadsheet, let me make sure I have the right #s. |

"I am the hope of millions of Igbo people for freedom. let I said, we would take the five Igbo state from nigeria and join it into benin republic. " Has any Nigerian politician ever said such powerful words? Truly, Presidential Candidate Musiwa is the Messiah that Nigeria needs. Let us all join hands together to make him President! Up Nigeria, Up Musiwa! |
Muza: ![]() Man I'm a pessimist too, but I need something to pin hope on. |
^-- We need talented Igbo in Yorubaland. I'd rather they stay in Lagos than leave for the SE, personally. Just politics is a no-go area. Everything else (business, investment, trade, etc) is fine, though. My invitation (which I'm probably not authorized to make, lol) goes out to anyone, not just Igbo. |
