Culture / Re: Lagos Belongs To Benin, Co-founded By Igbo - Oba Of Lagos, Elders by Ekykool(m): 7:11pm On Jul 21, 2017
THE BENIN ORIGIN OF ONITSHA

Most of the oral history one may get publicly from Onitsha elders and their Ndi-Nze will tell you that Onitsha is originally of Benin kingdom. This is true to some extent. The man Onitsha has the same origin with Benin who formed the Benin kingdom out of the Ancient Edo kingdom. Some Onitsha people were therefore part of the famous Edo kingdom, which had its headquarters in what is today called Benin City…

Although both Benin and Onitsha are of the same father, people regard Benin as a non-Igbo related kingdom while Onitsha is seen generally as a core Igbo kingdom…

The Aguleri account has it that Oba (third son of Eri) is the father of Edo, who in turn took over the kingdom from his father (Oba) after his death. Edo extended the kingdom greatly further westwards and almost established a boundary with the Yorubas at Ile-Ife, the land and kingdom of Oduduwa.

I think the proper way is for your school to deliver the transcript. I didn't ask of the outcome of personal delivery. If you doubt the credibility of your school and can afford it, do it both ways to be safe.

1. The word believe is just a word and what people believe has nothing to do with documented and credible facts.

2. The info I posted didn't come from me and I did not put it together and I'm not even VINCENT UJUMADU, the Igbo writer.

3. The history and narative in the article also came from Igbo people, not me.

4. I also posted the link, the Vanguard, a mainstream Nigerian news outlet.

Face the message and quit attacking the messenger.

Documented and credible facts? Do you know Aguleri more than the elders of Aguleri themselves?

The same Vanguard you quoted compared the two beliefs we are discussing about.

While you are quoting Nigeria websites, I can as well post many websites and give you names of books written on ERI by scholars.

You choose what to believe bro. Click Eri on google and see different websites talking about him including foreign sites. Better come down to Eri kingdom as see the facts yourself.

Like I said earlier, you are free to believe whatever you like. You won't be the first person to counter the true facts of Eri kingdom. Agukwu Nri did it in time past. Aguleri played internal politics with it too. Presently Umuleri (now Umueri) are doing the same thing.

The truth shall prevail at the end.

God bless you and Peace be unto you.

You people fabricated the wrong story to promote your fake and scamming jew rubbish.

We know Egyptians used to worship animals and animal heads and skulls.

History says this ERI joker came from Egypt and not Israel.

Abeg stop the hunter rubbish grin grin grin

One major thing I learnt is that humans choose what they believe in. That is why I have learnt to respect people's belief. The truth would eventually find its way out. It can never be hidden forever.

Just as you chose to believe Eri is from Egypt, many believe Eri is of the tribe of Israel.

We have many scholars on Igbo history. Some talk about Bantu, some say Eri dropped from the sky, some say Nri gave birth to Eri, Some say Eri lived before Adam (see "They Lived Before Adam" by Prof Acholonu).

In general, the people of Obu-Gad believe that Eri is the 5th son of Gad, Gad 7th son of Jacob Israel.

Politics / Nnamdi Kanu Visit To Obu-gad: What The Animal Skulls Represent by Ekykool(m): 11:41pm On Jul 01, 2017
False news have been going around the social media just to taint the image of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu. While it isn't a concern for many, the image of Obu-Gad shouldn't be toyed with.

On the 30th June 2017, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu payed a royal visit to the ancestral home of the Igbos, Obu-Gad, at Enugwu Aguleri, Iduu Eri Kingdom, Anambra.

The Iduu Eri Kingdom has had thirty-four dynasties. His Majesty, Eze Chukwuemeka Eri, Ezeora 34th, Eze Aka Ji Ovo Igbo is a descendant of Agulu (Agulu-Eri, Aguleri), the first son of Eri.

The animal skulls seen inside Obu-Gad represents a historical fact that Eri was also a great hunter. He flaunted his kill after going for hunting. Those animal skulls you see in Obu-Gad are as old as what you can ever imagine.

Those animal skulls are NEVER WORSHIPED by anyone in Igbo land. Mazi Nnamdi Kanu was only instructed by the King to pray, being that he is in his father's house. You can find the video of his prayer inside Obu-Gad on Youtube.

As for the Igbos practicing Christianity, Judaism, Islam and other religion, note that idol worshiping isn't done in Obu-Gad. The King himself believes in one God (Chukwu), a Spirit being but respects the belief of everyone.

Take note!

The animal skulls on the wall of Obu-Gad represent Eri as a great hunter. No one worships those skulls bro. You shouldn't be making fun of everything just because of your hate for Nnamdi Kanu.

Eri is said to be the progenitor of the Igbo race.

Foreign Affairs / Mexico: "We Will Not Pay For Any Wall" Trump: "There Will Be A Payment" by Ekykool(m): 4:04pm On Jan 26, 2017
President Donald Trump has signed directives to begin building a wall along US border with Mexico and crack down on US cities that shield undocumented immigrants, moving quickly on sweeping and divisive plans to curb immigration and boost national security.

The move "will improve safety in both countries", Trump said after signing the orders on Wednesday.

"A nation without borders is not a nation. Starting today, the US gets back control of its borders," he said.

"This will help dismantle cartels, keeping illegal weapons and cash from flowing out of American and into Mexico."

The order, signed on Wednesday, will enable construction of "a large physical barrier on the southern border", spokesman Sean Spicer said.

"Building this barrier is more than just a campaign promise, it's a common sense first step to really securing our porous border," Spicer added.

"This will stem the flow of drugs, crime, illegal immigration into the United States."

The measure will also bolster resources for border security agents, increase detention space for undocumented immigrants and ensure people are deported.

In an interview with ABC News on Wednesday, Trump said construction of the wall would start within months, with planning starting immediately, and that Mexico would pay back to the US "100 percent" of the costs.

"We'll be reimbursed at a later date from whatever transaction we make from Mexico," Trump said.
"I'm just telling you there will be a payment. It will be in a form, perhaps a complicated form. What I'm doing is good for the United States. It's also going to be good for Mexico. We want to have a very stable, very solid Mexico."

Condemning the move, Mexican President Enrique Pena Nieto said his country will not pay for the construction of the wall.
"Mexico does not believe in walls. I have said it time and again: Mexico will not pay for any wall," he said.
"I regret and condemn the decision of the United States to continue construction of a wall that, for years, has divided us instead of uniting us," Pena Nieto said in a brief televised message.

I laugh at the way some Nairalanders behave. I am well informed about the subject matter and I can tell you that this people were selected without any form of godfatherism. One of the candidates that I know was shocked when he received the text that he was successful after undergoing interviews and medical checkup. He is just an average Nigeria. No "connection" whatsoever.

He was kicked out and immediately went to a top hospital for medical checkup who certified him fit. The funny thing is the sickness the military men claim he has is not something that can happen to someone of his age.

Some comments below say he should upload the result of his medical checkup. For real ? He should leak out his details to the social media and blow his chance of coming back to a sensitive body like EFCC ?

Nigerians, learn to help one another. You never know when it would be your turn.

You know why the Nigerian managers enslave people? such companies have very wicked strategies, they pay a few top executives well with better conditions of service and use them to enslave the others.

So it is about the pay ? I can't imagine myself treating a fellow human in an inhuman way. You need to see the extent Nigerian managers treat junior members of staff just to please the foreign top management. I feel sad knowing many Nigerians are going through this wickedness daily just to put food on their table.

Health / World AIDS Day 2016: Nigerian Children Ranking High In Newly Affected by Ekykool(m): 12:43am On Dec 01, 2016
Using “the life-cycle approach to HIV” which breakdown the disease in four age bracket, that is, 0 to 14, 15 to 24, 25 to 49, and 50 – plus, we are able to have a clearer view of the epidemic’s complex dynamics and a more targeted response.

As at the end of 2015, there were 2.6 million children estimated to be living with HIV around the world- the majority in Africa. Nearly half of all children (aged 0-14) living with HIV are in just five countries: Nigeria (15 percent); South Africa (13 percent); India (8 percent); Mozambique (6 percent); and Kenya (5 percent). Eastern and Southern Africa accounts for 59 percent around the world.

Nigeria alone accounts for more than one-fourth of the 150,000 new infections in children last year. (Some of their infections occur during birth and some during breastfeeding.)

UNAIDS Executive Director Michel Sidibé says he is “more disappointed than surprised” by the finding. “It’s a little bit our collective failure, including mine.”

Two factors underlie the problem in Nigeria, Sidibé says: little effort to focus resources on the regions of the country that have the biggest problems, and no strong “culture of accountability” to ensure funds are well spent.

“I didn’t take the same bold approach I took in South Africa with Nigeria,” Sidibé says. “That should be my major new agenda.” In South Africa, more than 95% of HIV-infected pregnant women receive lifesaving antiretrovirals (ARVs), which also prevent mother-to-child transmission (MTCT). Nigeria is still analyzing its data, but the latest figures suggest that about 30% of HIV-infected pregnant women in that country were receiving ARVs.

Since 2009, new infections among children have been reduced by 36%. With access to the tools to protect children from HIV and access to antiretoviral medicines for HIV-infected pregnant women, this numbers can be reduced further.

Health / Growing Concerns Over The Aggressive Marketing Of Breast-milk Substitutes by Ekykool(m): 8:25pm On Nov 22, 2016
There are growing concerns over the aggressive marketing of breast-milk substitutes by its £36 billion industry.

The UN experts criticize States negligence to the under-regulation of this industry, saying marketing practices still negatively affect the choices women around the world make about how to feed their children. This reflects on the global breastfeeding rates which have been static for two decades.

According to Special Rapporteurs on the right to health and food, a Working Group on discrimination against women, and the Committee on the Rights of the Child, “Marketing practices often negatively affect the choices women make on how to feed their infants in the best way possible, and can impede both babies and mothers from enjoying the many health benefits of breastfeeding,” they said, pointing out that corporations are under regulated and not properly held to account for their actions.

“Breastfeeding is a human rights issue for both the child and the mother,” the UN said. “Children have the right to life, survival and development and to the highest attainable standard of health… Women have the right to accurate, unbiased information needed to make an informed choice about breastfeeding.”

“Simply too few States have adopted the necessary stringent, comprehensive and enforceable legal measures,” the UN said. “We call on them to adopt such measures to protect babies and mothers from misleading marketing practices, and fully align with the recommendations contained in the International Code of Marketing of Breast-milk Substitutes and subsequent relevant World Health Assembly resolutions, and new guidance from the World Health Organization (WHO).”

In another report, Breastfeeding is one of the few positive health behaviors that is more prevalent in poor than in rich countries; and within low- and middle-income-countries themselves, poor women breastfeed longer than rich women. Across nearly all regions, more women from the poorest households continue to breastfeed after the first year of life when compared with women from the wealthiest households. This is particularly true in Latin America and the Caribbean, where the continued breastfeeding rate among women in the poorest households is nearly double that of their wealthier counterparts. Similarly, in West and Central Africa and East Asia and the Pacific, the rates among women from the poorest quintile are 1.6 times higher than women in the richest quintile.

WHO recommends exclusive breastfeeding starting within one hour after birth until a baby is six months old and nutritious complementary foods should then be added while continuing to breastfeed for up to two years or beyond.
