Lukaku went two months (10 matches) with just one goal. Even matches we played him in the opposition box are there. If you add the Arsenal match that is 11 matches.

Yet people said he is getting better. From September ending to date, Lukaku has scored only one league goal. One big chance against Newcastle, that he couldn't have missed.

People who complained were right to do so. In those matches, Martial, Rashford, Young scored. Yet the excuse is that we park bus. Lie lie lies from the pit of hell.

The same period. Without injury and playing 90 minutes

Lukaku

Vs Liverpool no goal

Vs Benfica no goal

Vs Huddersfield no goal

Vs Sawnsea no goal

Vs Tottenham no goal

Vs Benfica no goal

Vs Chelsea no goal

Vs Newcastle 1 goal

Vs Brighton no goal

Vs Watford no goal.

1 goal in 10 matches in two months of full 90 minutes

eph12 , you just have to agree that I have a superior argument.

It wasn't an insult and you shouldn't see it that way. So I apologize as it was intended.

That said, you keep on continuing to twist facts. You talk about Aguero but refuse to talk about the team as a whole. Aguero that has not scored from open play in two months is who you are using to rubbish Lukaku's effort and you think it's OK? They have both missed same number of big chances but no Lukaku is the waster. Auba has lost 17 big chances but Lukaku is the one preventing his team from playing.

We need him to improve, just as we need the whole team. Rashford, not trying to score has a poor pass accuracy. He needs to improve on that, but because he is skilful and can drimble upandan you don't see anything wrong with that. It's OK
He has only played four EPL matches since returning from injury in September. He didn't complete any of the matches. Unlike Lukaku who has played every minutes since then. Aguero is scoring every 84 mins and Lukaku every 150+. How can you even compare?

October
The whole of October, Aguero played one Premier League match. He scored a penalty.

November

1. Champions League vs Napoli he scored from open play

2. Vs Arsenal he scored a penalty

3. Vs Feryenood no goal

4. Vs Huddersfield he scored a penalty

5. Vs Southampton no goal.

Since how many days now you keep repeating that I am making a mockery of myself. You keep insulting me.

I give you facts, it is left for you to learn from them. Lukaku gives one key pass same time Aguero gives two.

May be if I even check Salah who is top scorer, he might have a better figure.

Even from what I have seen so far, Kane has the best key pass per rating among them. He is doing 37 minutes for a key pass.

Kane 37
Aguero 45
Salah 46
Lukaku 84 minutes per key pass.

I understand your worry that it's calling for. Even all the key passes should be source of worry too.

If he didn't nod that ball down for Martial against TTH or intercepted that pass against Arsenal or dropped the ball for Lingard in same match maybe they would have gone all the way.

You are making a mockery of yourself if you expect Lukaku to go on a run dropping players to score goals
Don’t go and open another argument you cannot win. Which striker in EPL that doesn't sometimes create chances/give key passes? Aguero create like twice the number (per minutes played) that Lukaku creates.

Even the one he scored yesterday was another clear cut chance? Abi the one he scored against Newcastle was a clear cut chance they created for him abi?

Should we look at his goals and check how many CCC he has scored and compare with how many he hustled to score since you say he mostly rely on CCC?
Did he make the goals himself like Lingard did against Watford or the way Martial usually does?

He is a kind of striker who relies on such supplies, or sees a good chance and burst the net. When he is not doing that it calls for worry.

You no know ball aswear
Mkhitaryan, Silva, playing directly behind the striker benefit from the dribblers in their teams. If you are Ronaldinho that can bring the ball from the deep, and you have Zidane in the middle, just destroy men and give to Zidane to make that final pass. In an attempt to go past men with speeding play, you make mistakes, hence the poor pass accuracy

That he isn't useless even when he is not scoring .. As he sees his paces and well precised forward passes.. He could do it with his head and legs.

I was surprised to hear this from another team fan seriously .. And some panke fans will be saying he was woefully performing before that stunner goal. grin
One thing that can be deduced from your write up, your Barca fan friend has many friends or have heard from many people who think Lukaku is poor, even off the ball. This means it is not only elampiro and some United fans on nairaland who think Lukaku has so much improvement to make.

This your Barca friend also concluded from a weak openent as CSKA that Lukaku is not rightly criticized. Not from two EPL matches or against one of the big 8 - 10 teams in the EPL. Not to even mention top 6

Where on earth is Auba going to get 17 big chances to miss in this team? shocked shocked

Just go around, look at all the top teams in Europe, how many chances their strikers have missed, and don't forget they have a better attacking play.

I have been saying this, that I don't know which striker will do better than Lukaku presently
When you talk about big chances missed, also add goals scored.

Some miss big chances but compensate with double solo goals. Hope you are not going to bring big chances missed by Ronaldo and Messi to try to prove Lukaku has same scoring ability. These guys can miss one or two big chances in a match, but when match tie wrapper (deadlock) you would see these guys carry the ball pass men to score.

Lukaku mostly rely on clear chance to score. So he misses them, he goals stats become rubbish.

Who on this thread expects Lukaku to dribble? Come make pastor elrony pray for you abi since when did we start associating Lukaku with dribbling?

Rashford had more than twice the number of touches Lukaku had but created lesser number of chances and scored same amount of goals. You should be entertained brother because I'm not at all.

See ehn no make me dey analyse Rashford moves cos it won't end well.
A player who plays more centrally and closest to goal should create more chances. an exception could be one who takes set plays. The was why Van Persie was among the top three in 2012/2013.

A striker who sits in the box is most likely going to nod down for a team mate, pounce on a rebound and pass through to a team mate to tap in, etc. A winger who usually run from the deep would minus men on his way and pass to another who passes to the striker.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by elampiro(m):

So with all Rashford dribbles and playing FT he created only a chance while Lukaku with less mins created 2. I thought it should have been the other way round. Rashford had 62% pass accuracy while Lukaku 82% so he(Rashidi) was basically on the pitch drimbling. Lukaku also has the highest no. of key passes after Mata but dude was woeful.
Dribblers don't necessarily have to create plenty of Assists and chances. They leave men behind allowing plenty open space for his co - attacking team mates. Their end result might be a Second Assist. Ronaldo, Neymar and Hazard don't count pass accuracy.

Neymar, Ronaldo and Di Maria have the worst pass accuracies in their teams.
Robben, Muller are also at the bottom in their team. Hazard is also not among the top in his team.

Dribblers destroy defenders and break their waist thereby opening spaces. When a striker or wing forward begins to count pass accuracy as major achievement, that wing forward or striker is close to ruin.

(Shaw 4 dribble, Valencia and Mata 3, Tuazebe, Pogba, Martial 2)

Dispossessed, Lukaku 2, Rashford 2.

Interception Rashford 1, Lukaku 0

Tackles 1-1

Ratings are done based on performances and you can only perform when you're on the pitch.
Have you not seen someone who played 60 minutes and rated negative by whoscored and another came on same match at 75 minutes and rated positive.

Whoscored starts rating from 6.

If you have positives your score goes up from there. If you have more negatives than positive, your score goes below 6.

You can be on the pitch for 90 minutes and rate lower than one on for 15 minutes.

You see.. it's this condescending attitude that speaks volumes about your mentality and view of life. You are being called old not because you are old (i would know one if i saw one) but by this attitude of better than everyone else, i know more than everyone else. Even though you don't outrightly insult people, this behavior is far worse and insults people subtly. Do you know my story? You are sharing this story just so you can intimidate people and beat your chest to say I've seen more than You. A very deceptive form of reverse psychology that many here will fall for.. Not me. Everyone has a story too. I come from a family of 15 kids, it was a fight or die and some of my siblings are gone yea dead.. They didn't make it.... I was selling papers by 200 level, i was hawking Novels and books in Hall 1 and Hall 2 in Uniben, that was long before i knew what life was about.. It was all struggles, struggles till found myself at Aguiyi Ironsi house.. EFCC headquarters Abuja in 2015 because i was trying everything to get ahead. My brother you nor know people story, nor think say you don see all there is in life. If there's anything i have learnt in life, it's to be humble to learn, avoid arguments that i can never win and never force my opinions on others but reason with them because nobody knows best.
I don't know how I proved better than anyone else. Some of the things I say were carried over from my long debate with Coogar. For instance, Coogar would say he is soccer god, and 90% of the house would applaud him. Then I had to respond to him by countering his his stats with more detail stats, then I would tell him I am a great analyst, then he finds another way to retaliate. I didn't see anyone who said Coogar was proud, even when he brought people down with ridicule by what they wore.

I brought my story to tell I am not so old. For years, people keep saying old just because I made a mistake of revealing part of my life. For instance I have revealed my tribe, my state, where I live etc. Before I joined this Manchester United thread, I didn’t see it as a big deal to state my age on nairaland. I even had a picture of me on my profile. The reason I stopped that was when I saw people here finding faults in everything. Even if John Cena came to nairaland, Coogar and his team would have still find a way to bring him down based on his school, work, dress.

But I already made a mistake of revealing some of my private life here, so some think I am one 55 years old man. If I knew I would have kept quiet from the beginning. You know in facebook, there we know one another even to the house. That was my initial way of looking at nairaland.

Well sorry about your experience. I know we all have experiences. I have not the best nor the the worst. But be sure I have not said anything much about my life experience here. It's not worth it. And I am not saying I am the most experienced. We have guys in UK, US, Canada etc. Some travel and return. We have Afrodoc2, Raumdeuter, Starboard, and some other quiet guys I think have more life experience.

I think it is the last time I will talk private matter here.

Rashford played 90 mins. He scored the second goal and couldve gotten another towards the end of the game as CSKA offered little resistance. Why wouldn't he get a better rating?

However this doesn't negate the fact that he was below average for the first 45 minutes. He looked uninterested in the game and was tardy. He hit the post after being put on goal by Lukaku and his own through ball to the Belgian in that period was too heavy.

Lukaku on the other hand didn't play the whole game but his contribution was felt and he's responsible solely for the victory. He could've gotten another goal if he'd stayed on as well as a superior rating.
Ratings are not done based on minutes played (except whoscored which might add or subtract based on additional stats while on the field, like dribbling +, dispossessed -). When those two amateurs players came on for Herrera and Valencia, we didn’t have many positives.

Rashford was very okay for me throughout, first half inclusive. He did what Ashley Young could have done by being unpredictable which way he intended to drive - either behind the defence line or cut in front of it.

Did you also notice the fabulous through ball he gave Rashford which the latter hit against the post? That's not the kind of performance you term "poor".

What I see is someone who's trying to acquire new skills, improve himself and morph into an all-round striker. If he scores less goals during that development period, it's a worthy sacrifice for what's to come.

You might say he didn't do well against Arsenal, I won't bat an eyelid. But it is very unnecessary to censure his performance yesterday, cos it's the exact opposite of what you've been on about. Do give credit when due. Lukaku wasn't awful yesterday, he had a hand in all of our goals and was a beauty to watch.
Rashford performed better. Yet some came for his head. Why didn't you fight them?

There was even a third job I even forgot to mention, a company I topped their management test (although a one man's business), I was to be sent to head a branch office in Benin. When I got a bank that I knew I would be retained , I had to get a rejection from my PPA in Ikeja, another firm I was the only one taken after four youth corps members sat for their Accounting test. That was like 4 places. My place of PPA, a company and two banks.

It was not fault I knew how to hustle early because I knew where I was coming from. From NYSC camp, I wrote tests and went for interview Fridays and Saturdays. Even after camp (having secured a place of PPA) I didn’t rest. We were 12,000 NYSC members in Lagos during my time.

Occasionally top strikers misses these kind of big chances which is perfectly normal. Elampiro even brought a stat to prove this. They can only get better when they continue to get more and not playing from the midfield or as the SS instead of the CF and that is my point
We have played over 20 matches this season, and we have only played our striker at half line against about four teams - Liverpool, Tottenham, Chelsea and Arsenal.

Don't over exaggerate this bus parking and playing style. We have been one of the most attacking teams in the league. Even against those four teams, we scored 3 goals and created dozens of chances. But Lukaku did not score.

We were not even holding him for not scoring, but some other things he should have done to help the team.

My first reaction after the game was to simply quote someone who observed his poor overall play by commenting under his quote "I don tire for Lukaku". That was because I defended him a week before.
