Diademk07: Lmao. A player with 70% passing rate with only 2 successful long pass out of 7? LOL!
We dictated the play with only 31% possession? We dictated the tempo with our park the bus and long ball tactic? Only Elampiro... The same guy who believes defenders such as Jones, Smalling and Rojo are players who contributes to our attacking play.
You no know all. I don’t have to argue with someone who thinks Eufa technical Committee is a joke.
Abegi, everyone contributed their quota in the defensive aspect. It was a community defensive play and it's quite funny when Herrera eventually takes all the glory but when we talk about who actually made the game plan work, it was Fellaini. His work was distinctly unique out there. His aerial duel and strength couldn't be matched in the midfield. If Uefa had given Fellaini the MOTM, it would have really corroborated the claims that we played long ball tactic..
You must be a robot.
I say you no sabi watch ball. Fellaini that was shaking in possession in the first half. Everyone of our player was making mistakes and giving the ball away, except Herrera and Valencia. Herrera was the only one holding it with style, turning like Xavi and changing the direction of play.
Diademk07: You mean uefacelona or is it spanish uefa?
I have little regard for uefa since the day Iniesta was awarded MOTM of 2015 CL final when Suarez and Neymar were far better than him. Till today, no one with sound eyes would watch Iniesta boring highlight and think the guy deserved MOTM.
Funnily enough, you stated that if 3 of Herrera had been in the team, we would have seen out the match in the 1st half but the question is what wins a match? Goals and creativity!
Did Herrera make any attacking play or create any chance? No. Did he dictate the play? No. As usual, He was his usual hustling self.
Come to think of it, our play was centred around long ball tactic and it was Fellaini who actually made it work. Without Fellaini, our game plan would have been rubbish! The guy won 15 aerial duels as well as contributed in the defensive play just like Herrera. And unlike Herrera, he made more passes than him. My eyes never deceived me and the stats backed up my claim as well, Uefa can pull out whatever rubbish they deem fit!
LoRdCaT: Griezmann is a gamble but Bas dost is not? Just hear yourself speak. I do not have the strength to engage in an argument that won't have an end so just drop it.
Can you show me anywhere I said Bas Dost is not a gamble?
I said it is more sensible to gamble with €10m-30m than €80-100
Manchester United is delighted to announce that Antonio Valencia has signed a contract which will keep him at the club until June 2019, with the option to extend for a further year.
Valencia, 31, signed for United on 30 June 2009. During his time at the club he has won two Premier League titles, one FA Cup, two League Cups, the UEFA Europa League and three Community Shields.
Antonio Valencia said:
"Manchester United has been my life since 2009 and I am absolutely delighted to have signed a new contract. Wednesday evening provided the one trophy this club had never won and it was a true honour for me to captain the team for the final. I would like to thank the Manager for the confidence he has given me this season and I am sure that we will be challenging on all fronts next season. I would also like to say a big thank you to my family, my team-mates and, of course, the fans, for their amazing support."
LoRdCaT: Which best striker in the world did we buy? 35 years old zlatan?
So what we need is bas dost abi? An unproven player plying his trade in a shiit league?
Pogba is not the complete solution, he is just a part of it. if our strikers converted half of the chances he created, the story will be very different now.
And about buying blindly, I don't think you know better than mourinho who thinks we need him.
Zlatan at 34 scored 38 league goals in one of the top 5 European league. At 33 he was said to be too old, but at 34 he did the unthinakable. He came here as world best striker.
Bas Dost is that cheap striker who could give us the league that you people said I should suggest.
Griezmann is a gamble whether you like it or not. Chikena
LoRdCaT: Oga these your lies are getting annoying, I dey quick vex oo! Please bring out the post where I or anybody here implied that you shouldn't analyze griezmann. Bring it out or we will conclude that you need to be taken to an old people's home.
You people have implied it many times, but now look the above post.
PietroRico: When it comes to transfer issues, any name brought up will be shot down by our fans, I mean any name. But we must improve the squad.
This is the opening paragraph. In journalism, the opening paragraph should give the most important details. It is actually the subject matter.
Here your opening paragraph mentioned about shouting down any name brought up, not about transfer fee.
PietroRico: There were loud doubts about Thiago and Vidal, but these two have been thriving for Bayern. People doubted kroos before he went to Madrid and even after what he's done there. Bale, same thing. These are some of the established names that we've been linked with over the years from the top of my head.
Ibrahimovic was even expected to come and be falcao.2
Here your next two paragraphs after the first one attack doubting about our targets. These are your second and third paragraphs. The second paragraph should give a brief detail about the main subject given by the first paragraph.
Linking your first, second and third paragraphs, one would conclude you said we should not even doubt players we are linked to, and no one should dare shout them down.
PietroRico: We must upgrade our attack, but not with griezman, for whatever reason. Not with mpabbe, too young and too expensive. Not with James, not what we need. Not with Bernardo silva, we already have many like him. Not with belloti, too expensive after only one season playing good.. I could go on and on and on.
I'm sure if the chance to sign MSN presents itself, we will still hear reasons why we shouldn't.
Here in the middle of your write up, you attack people who give different reasons why they may not like targets we are linked to.
It can be concluded you implied we should not give reasons to doubt any player and no targets should be shouted down because we must upgrade. Connect your paragraphs.
PietroRico: Personally, I think it high time everyone stopped bothering their heads about transfer fees and just accept the market for what it is. It's even worse when United is involved. Bayern could swoop in and pay the buyout clause for griezman, and nobody would bat an eyelid, not now, not ever, not even when he suffers a dip in form or has a slow start.
Every club has their fair share of being magad in the transfer market, but united's own tends to be overexaggerated. The great Barcelona paid almost 40m for a Portuguese cleverley.
Bayern that is generally thought to be impeccably run, bought a certain overage rastaman for nearly 80m, on top their near monopoly to talents from Germany.
Even Batchuayi was bought for 35m and his best highlights have been on Twitter.
Here you want us not to criticize transfer fees of the players we are linked to. If I remember well, you were the one who said Di Maria never worth his transfer fee. Now in a subsequent you said Di Maria should not be mentioned at all, a direct contradiction of everything you have said in this writing. Using your terms, we must upgrade, but not with Di Maria even though he can do better than Mata and Lingard on the right side of our attack.
PietroRico: Nothing the poor boy does is good enough, because of 89m. Which makes no sense. Price tag should be completely irrelevant when a players performance is being assessed.
If the people that run the club think they can afford to pay griezman's clause, and still strengthen other areas then exactly how much griezman comes for really shouldn't he anybody's business.
In summary, our transfer market paranoia don too much.
Again opposite of what you said about Di Maria.
But most importantly, your conclusion was about our talks and criticism about our transfer market, not about the transfer prices.
Funlord2: And whose business is that if it hurt him? Because he finally stepped up this season after years of mediocrity all of a sudden he is captain material? Look at the list of recent captains:
Steve bruce
Eric cantona
Roy keane
Nemanja vidic
Wayne Rooney?
All consistent and quality players in their prime! Leaders on and off the pitch! Vocal and take charge kind of players! When last did you hear Tony Valencia speak about the club? Or the team? Or ruffle some feathers? Someone that even brought the clubs image into disrepute with his mini sex scandal a season ago?
Valencia has been talking. It depends on which news outlets you follow.
Manchester United will avoid the likes of Barcelona, Atletico Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain after their Europa League final triumph ensured they would be placed in Pot Two for the Champions League draw.
Wednesday night's 2-0 victory over Ajax ensures that United will go in alongside Barcelona, Atletico, PSG, Dortmund, Sevilla, Man City and FC Porto and therefore cannot face any of these teams in the Champions League group stages.
It does, however, mean they can meet any of Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, Juventus, Benfica, Shakhtar Donetsk, Monaco or Spartak Moscow who are the champions of their respective leagues and are therefore seeded and in Pot One.
Chelsea are also in Pot 1 but due to the rule that two teams from the same country cannot be drawn together, the Blues are removed from United's line of fire.
Basel and Anderlecht are confirmed as potential Pot Three opponents, and they could be joined by Ajax, Napoli or Roma, Dynamo Kiev, Sporting Lisbon and Olympiakos, who must all go through the qualifying process.
Tottenham and Liverpool (should they get through qualifying) will also likely slot into Pot Three, but cannot be drawn against United.
So what would be the best - and worst - case scenarios for United?
Worst-case scenario: Real Madrid, Manchester United, Napoli, Feyenoord.
Best-case scenario: Shakhtar Donetsk, Manchester United, Anderlecht, Ludogorets.
tobzzy: elampiro you too will join us here soon then we will see if you come back here to help people.. how i wish you know how busy people are
Bro, you are trying. My post was particularly referring to those current candidates who had gotten their India visa but refused to come and guide the rest people here.
igbsam: Oga go and watch is from different angle. Stop watching it 7 times from the same angle. Look at the position Herrera stood in this picture. Is that Defence ? Why u no just wan get sense like this. Also watch the video here...
Stop being an olodo. That's a defensive position in a corner kick. Herrera only started moving forward after the Ajax players in the box were coming out just as the ball flew past them. They anticipated their defenders would head out for them to chase and start a counter, but Herrera was going to be the first to defend the loose ball /stop the counter if the defenders headed out.
igbsam: Watch it before you start jumping like ogoro. How many players were in the box that would now make Herrera to go back and join the defence when we are playing a corner instead. Oga, Herrera didn't move back to the defence, he was within the midfield for any possible rebound.
Mhki was the one moving to the midfield not until herrera asked in to go into the box while he stays in the midfield. You need to watch that video from another angle and you would see it. I'm done with this debate. Can't argue no more. I'll leave u in your world of delusion and if you think seeing yourself sounding more intelligent than others gives you life, we won't unplug that life support. you need it to stay alive for a case study.
I have watched this video more than 7 times. Go back, tell me whether you see Herrera after the camera showed more 40 yards from Ajax goal.
In corner kicks, the defence stay around the half line with just one person more deeper. Herrera kept going into defensive zone until he disappeared from the camera which was still able to show 40 yards from goal.
our9ja: Abeg oh i got the second email from Euro Akedeemia asking if i still want to go to India for applying for TRP Make Una help una broda ..Who don visit Indian Embassy of recent?
I am a quiet reader of this forum and other travel threads. From what had been said here, India embassy website gives you a date which is two months from when you applied. No one has expressly said they are not giving visa. If they are rejecting application, at least some applicants would have said so already.
On a general note, users of this particular thread don't come back to give useful information once they succeed. Too bad.
igbsam: If that is how your sense told you that that's what i said or put up there. Then you have a deliverance session to attend with immediate alacrity. Ogbeni, you wanted to sound intelligent, but you ended up sounding like Efulelefu! I said, he organized the team by instructing mhki to go back into the box while he a long range shot taker would remain outside the box and that decision ended up giving us a goal. He Örganized oga ade is what i said. Stop trying to arm twist what people say here all cos u want to make yourself look more intelligent that everyone here. Park well
Stop talking like someone who is just coming back from space. Herrera didn’t stay in any shooting zone. He left the attacking zone totally into defensive zone. There was no way to take a long range shot from there.
It was an exchange of positions between defensive zone and attacking zone, not between short range scoring zone and long range scoring zone.
LoRdCaT: I swear I weak for Elamps. So a club planning to get back to the top should ignore The third best player in the world and sign one unknown basiru just because he is cheaper? Well what should we expect from a man who thinks Rooney should continue to lead our attack and that a back pain was the reason for his poor run of form(Mr Rooney's personal physio) I swear if Elamps takes over barca, he will sell MSN, buy black brainless idiots, relegate the club to third division and make sure they never rise again. Soon Elampiro will start receiving the raumdeuter treatment.
Third best player of the world my foot. We bought the best striker in the world and what happened? When we bought Pogba he was the best midfielder in the world. Were these what we needed to solve our team problems? Even SAF had pointed out Kante as the standout player of last season, but we went for name.
It's not by name or ovation or best, but what we need. When we analyse this from our point of view, you people get angry and want us to buy blindly.
LoRdCaT: The thing is it doesn't matter if h Herrera's decision was from a defensive or attacking POV, the point is Herrera organized his team mates. PERIOD!
They all organize one another. Bailly, Jones, Ibrahimovic, Valencia, Young, I see them do similar things.
igbsam: After reading all these jargons, twist and turns you wrote up there, my body just weak. I mean, na human being sit down write this thing abi na siri. You sef, try read this thing wey u write and tell me if your bone no go weak. honestly, all what u wrote no get one single meaning. In the end, you still agreed that Herrera's quick thinking and decision played a key part in that goal. So why u suffer yourself compose this epistle just to try and confuse yourself trying to raise a baseless point that holds no gas not to talk of water.
You think you are doing me, you are doing yourself trying to form intelligent by looking more stupid with senseless long epistle writeups. See how you are now a laughing stock! How far with Rooney ? Hope you wud follow him to the next club he'll end up going. Anupam!
Only one without sense would think Herrera told Mkhitaryan to go and score. It was for defensive reasons. I said it in another large forum and people agreed with me.
codedguy1: Elamps you need to take a chill pill. Person no fit get different opinion from yours without you trying to stamp your own.
This guy has even admitted Valencia has improved from his previous position.
Make una chill, we are still in celebration mode, except for some die hard mourinho haters who are depressed because mourinho disappointed them.
Valencia didn’t improve from any previous position, what he does now is same thing he was doing last season, only that he was mostly injured last season. Every time Valencia was injured last season we were in disarray . If he were fit, we would not have been eliminated from Europa by Liverpool. When he returned we won the FA cup. When playing with ten men and under pressure, Valencia single handedly carried the ball forward to create our winning goal. Anytime he didn’t play our right side of attack was dead.
It was only deluded minds who couldn't see these qualities. I remember a particular argument here where Valencia was our only bright light in a UCL fixture away in Ukraine, he made many successful crosses from overlapping from right back, with one of such Assisted our equalizing goal. People here still blasted him that he should be delivering like Bale and Neymar who are up front wingers.
Funlord2: Valencias man united career has been average with the capital A! It is only romantics like you who tend to view things that are favorable but not those that are glaring faults! If darmian has failed to wrestle the position from Valencia how is that my fault? Is it me that told him to come and underperform? Why was he bought in the 1st place? Or was van gaal signing him to come and learn from Valencia? Someone that was already a 1st teamer and a key man for the azzuris?
Every true man united fan who has watched his evolution at the club since 2009 knows he only ever has had 2 good seasons...the one in which rooney scored 32 ( I think 2010/11) goals with Valencia being one of the players who gave him and the team assists for fun and this current one! Why was he pushed from winger to full back? Was he not a dynamic winger in his wigan days? Was he not bought to compensate for ronaldos exit? Why should I admire someone that is average? When I was raised off people like Dennis Irwin, Gary neville and evra? Maybe you are an average nigga so you expect the same from our players? Well I am not so I expect the quality I am used to from my teams players!
And for the last time I have told you don't bring lies into our arguments! I don't know if you are learning it from Dayo or whoever but those outdated tactics of filling posts with gibberish and lies can't work on me! I brought the news of fabinho from monaco being a target for united and I said I hope he joins because as usual Valencia was not trying! I always post breaking news stories here so it is very easy to see my posts and check the context of my words! I am not ed woodward that would tell you categorically that fabinho must sign! Now the same fabinho is being linked with both us and city! So does it mean pep does not know what he is doing?
Even you admitted that Valencia has had two good seasons, and when you add this you have three. He had two long term injuries. He was covering for injury prone Rafael at right back for a long term in two seasons under SAF. How many seasons does he have left.
The only time Valencia had a poor season was in 2012/2013. I am sure he was still used a bit in right back that season, and when you move a player around there is a chance he loses form in his primary position.
But come to think of it, which any of our player has been in superb form since 2013? When I told you Valencia was good last summer, you were arguing. Go back to Gaals last season, we won most matches when Valencia was fit. He was always the most important player for us last season, but many of you were still deluded to see his good side. If the deluder was still here, no one would even agree he is having a good season. The deluder is gone and some of you people can now at least think straight and think for yourselves.
Egbon, go back and read what I wrote and don't start with any unnecessary attack thus morning. I respect you too much for this.
And if what you picked up from that was that we should accept every Tom díck and ayodele thrown at us, then no be my fault. I'm responsible for what I write only, not what anyone understands
Funlord2: What concerns this our discussion with evra? And who told you this is how they make captains? Person asked me a question and I gave him based on my own observations what makes me feel he is most likely to become a future captain and which is something I would like! Am I mourinho to know who he wants?
I'm sure it is because you saw valencias name there as "not being a leader" that is why you want to start weeping!
You have always disliked Valencia. It was you who said a certain Brazilian would come and Valencia would be sold. You said Darmian was even ahead of Valencia in the perking order for right back.
Now I don't hear about that Brazilian again and Valencia is our new captain. He wore the arm band for the first time when we beat Chelsea. He captained us to win Europa. How else is not qualified? Carrick, Smalling, Mata and Fellaini were tried but at the end it landed on Valencia. He is worthy captain. Herrera will have to wait for his time if ever he will be captain because Smalling and Mata are still ahead of him.
Mark it, Herrera cannot be captain if Mata and Smalling are in the team. Now you tall of Griezmann coming, which might take Herrera's position back back.
Did you know it was Herrera that even instructed Mhki to go back into the box when he Mhki walked away from it and was going to the midfield which caused him to score against Ajax ? Go watch that goal and you will see Herrera Hurriedly ran up to meet Mhki instructing him to go back into the box. If he hadn't done that, we wouldn't have gotten that goal.
Leave matter, I am sure Herrera trust himself to score from a rebound from a corner. Herrera was going to the box himself, he only decided to go back to defence when he saw Smalling joining the attack. Mkhitaryan was on yellow and would be a huge defensive liability at that point.
Normally two or three players stay behind, usually Valencia, Blind and Herrera/Mkhitaryan. If Jones is playing, he stays behind while Smalling or Bailly joins the attack. There is a standard arrangement from training.
In that corner kick, Smalling didn’t make up his mind on time to join attack, it was when one of Ajax forward decided to join defend the corner that Smalling went forward leaving only Valencia as the player with pace to stop a counter, so Herrera reversed and told Mkhitaryan to join attack instead.
What I am saying is that Herrera's decision was mostly due to defensive reason than attacking reason, particularly Mkhitaryan was on yellow and with less defensive ability. But it was still a good one from him.
Funlord2: Valencia is not captain material! He is a quiet chap that just likes to do his job! Someone that was afraid to collect cr7's number because he felt he did not deserve it? He is not a leader...
Herrera talks a good game and backs it up with supreme performances...it is only when you hear him speak that you remember he is not english! He has character, talent, confidence and a winning mentality....if you watch training videos or selfies of our players he is usually the one everyone gravitates to the most...he also seems like a fun to be around dude that the dressing room loves! This is a guy that almost got his united career derailed by gaal but refused to give up and swore he would make it at united! I remember watching him at bilbao when they knocked us out of the europa league under fergie..he also led that team at such a young age...
I watched that press conference after the game yesterday...he was sent out for a reason! Herrera will be captain someday! Mark my words!
If this is how to make a captain, Evra wouldn't be captain in a team with Scholes and Carrick.
pharod: Exactly what av been telling my peeps. He even shows his leadership qualities on the pitch. Apart from telling micki to join the attack for the 2nd goal, av seen footages of him organizing the players on the pitch especially when we were under pressure and need to maintain the shape. That guy is captain material, I tell ya
The reason Herrera asked Mkhitaryan to join attack while he joins defense in the corner kick that led to that goal was to protect Mkhitaryan from getting a second yellow card.
I saw the video, Herrera was going to join attack, then Mkhitaryan was coming back to replace him, as they walked past each other, Herrera discovered that Smalling was also joining the attack. Then Herrera reversed knowing well Mkhitaryan might not be able to stop a counter attack, particularly as he was on yellow.
