Wura27 and Kingtom, are you new here? I see new names nowadays |
Playing Matic and Fellaini is like playing two DMs |
The problem with the Everton game was the central midfield pairing. Matic and Fellaini are not the type to carry the ball forward between lines, or have been the great awareness to pick out the runs of the forward players trying to run behind the defence line of the opposition. Starting a counter was also out of it. What should have happened was one of Mkhitaryan and Mata dropping deep to help start the attacking build up play from the deep. Better still, Herrera should have been played as one of midfield three, as the most advanced. Everton got the better of us, and Rooney had a field day, except he could not finish. If he scored, the game would have been more difficult. Rashford didn’t do well at all. |
Louis van Gaal has accused Manchester United of hanging him out to dry with his controversial sacking after he had led the club to FA Cup glory. Van Gaal always held a dignified silence over the sacking, but, that was until now. Speaking to the Mirror he’s let rip over his dismissal claiming that United hung him out to dry: “United put my head in a noose and I was publicly placed on the gallows. The pressure was enormous with my head in the noose and they went right behind my back. “I think it was all orchestrated like a film and it was done very much behind my back right from January. My wife, Truus, told me that the attitude of the board had changed. Women have this intuition. They smell it. “I denied it, even to my wife, because between me as a manager and the chief executive Ed Woodward, everything was running as normal. “Suddenly former players started to yap in the media that we were playing boring football and Mourinho's sacking made it very attractive for everyone to keep bashing me. “Suddenly, Mourinho was out after one-and-a-half years of my contract and I knew United wanted him one day. They told me only after it was leaked out and it was the biggest disappointment of my life. “United did not discuss this with me. If they had come to me with the Mourinho plan then I could have said ‘okay, let’s give it everything for the last six months, complete commitment to each other and the team and then Jose Mourinho can take over.’ “They could have saved the last year of my salary by doing that but after what happened I made them pay every penny.” [Source: Mirror] |
Mourinho's decision to try to match Stoke strength for strength meant Blind and Mata didn't start. Although he was always going to rotate the team at some point, either to please some key players who are on bench or keep his players fresh. We should have matched them technique for strength as we did against West Ham. At the end the draw was not the end of the world. It was somewhat a fair result. The two players we have praised so much caused us the two goals. Bailly and Jones. Young players will always make mistakes, even Ramos used to make mistakes just a few years ago. Bailly needs to track his man back, it was his lack of tracking his man that led to the corner which resulted to Jones error. Jones on his part should learn not to give away free headers like that. Lukaku could have won us the game but he failed to finish a good chance. On to the next game. |

chrisley024:Let me see the video. I didn't watch the match. What about it? |
Wenger will not give us Sanchez after he appeared to make mistake with Van Persie. Mkhitaryan with 5 Assist is good for club player of the month, but again there were periods he disappeared from matches. Overall, Pogba might just win it. Let’s hope no one returns from international break with injuries. |
chrisley024:After that City match, I concluded they are bound for relegation. But now I remember three or four senior players are injured. Plus Schneiderlin, that is 5. Coleman Bolasie Barkley Mckarthy I hope we play them before their players return. |
sinizia:Ok, I have seen it. It looks like the Leicester defender (no 28) got a head on it slightly before dropping behind. If that was the case, the opta stat tech would not record it as a successful cross. It would come in as a deflection. Just like they record Assists. |
Leyqute:I can't view video. Content blocked for violating copy right |
I was scared Lukaku would miss the penalty, then I saw from the TV he had missed two from his previous 5. Then he actually missed. So he has now missed 3/6 He has to hand over that duty to Mata. |
Leyqute:I can't remember that |
Oasis007:Whoscored. They use opta as feed |
Odunharry:Ok, I didn’t see all his posts. |
Odunharry:He didn’t beat (minus) Jones. Jones dispossessed Mahrez and lost the ball when he mis-step. But Mahrez minus Blind completely the only time he faced him in the box. The one Nihilist was asking about, I guess for sure it was when Mahrez minus Blind completely. |
Leyqute:Thank God we capped a very good performance with two goals. Martial actually had 0/6 accurate crosses according to stat. But I thought he had a very very good game. |
Leyqute:Jones was excellent. I think may be some people begin watching a match with the intention of finding fault to criticize some players. Jones made last man aerial clearances that if he had not read the game properly, we would have conceded from a header. He also was magnificent with his tackles. It was Blind who always went out of position, which meant which means Jones had to cover for him, thereby making Jones to come one vs one with Mahrez. A central defender should not be allowed to face a forward one vs one without anyone behind to cover up any eventuality. Particularly when it is a good dribbler like Mahrez. Look at how Valencia always on hand to form a twin with Bailly on the other end making it hard for any one to get past both. That was why Leicester resorted to crossing from that wing, which Jones headed all away. Valencia went forward many times. I dont understand what you meant he should have been going forward. All the early threats in the match was because Valencia left his marker, which the commentor mentioned. Martial put in 6 crosses and non connected, and he was the one gifted the most space to utilize for a perfect cross. Remember Valencia is a full back, not a winger. And he was playing with a left footer ahead of him. Marta had to cut back all the time. |
It was almost an excellent game, particularly the first half. Even if we drew the game I would still have praised the team. Martial did a good work with his build up play with other players. Phil Jones did almost excellent against Mahrez. The only time Mahrez got past, Jones actually dispossessed him and in return missed step to lose the ball. Otherwise it was a master class today from Jones. Valencia is over criticized. He had two occasions he could have put in a better cross, he stamped when he was trying to pick a team mate rather than just put in a cross. Valencia usually try to pick a team mate, that's why he finishes the league as the player who got most cross accuracy in the whole EPL. Unlike those Sterling, De Bruyne, Townsend, Oxlaid, etc who usually just whip in crosses. We should not forget the defence was so tight today that even Mkhitaryan's crosses went to the goalkeeper instead, and Martial also stamped. Good team play, good football from Manchester United today. |
Odunharry:That was not Jones na. It was Blind |
chrisley024:No. He took it with his left foot. That is less predictable than using a right foot from there. |
joeace2020:Lol, he will tell you Pogba bribed the the voters. Remember when Herrera won the MOTM in Europa final, he said Eufa were just doing eye service. Something like that, I can't remember the excuse he gave exactly, but he blamed Eufa for awarding MOTM to Herrera. He is always on the the wrong side; under the canopy where matches are watched on 1941 black and white TV with poor signals. You have to hit in the TV every 10 minutes to regain steady image. |
Great! This was more difficult than the first game. I think we were less adventurous and there were too many unnecessary short passes. Pogba was easily the best player on the pitch in the first half, and he did well not to concede another yellow card. Rashford didn't play with his team mates, instead of considering a glaring passing option he always attempted to take on the last man after successfully stretching the defence. His attempts at goal were highly disappointing. Martial came, did the simple things in a matured way. Although Martial could have picked Lukaku with the pass himself. He was looking to go all himself, fortunately, the ball fell on Mkhitaryan who has far greater awareness. This is what our young players like Rashford, Lingard and Martial need to learn. Our players under SAF had great awareness and good decision making Lukaku didn’t do well with long balls from our defenders. But he ended up did what we bought him for. The players did well trying to play through the middle despite the tight defence but Swansea did just as well defending until that second goal. Swansea did excellently well dealing with our crosses into their box. Valencia is always giving a good account of himself. Overall another clean sheet from the defenders and goalkeeper. It looks like I saw DeGea just twice. |
Nihilist:Dayokanu and Dademola/Dadehmola |
afrodoc2:I am already vindicated. Where on earth do a player goes to Chinese league and returns to a top team with €40M sign on fee? That's a midfielder o |
Contrary to what some people said about our play since Ferguson, I think we reached this height two or three times under Moyes, then some few more times under Gaal. Moyes: Our first game against West Ham/Villa, can't remember the one exactly. Our away game at Newcastle Our game against Leverkusen Gaal: Our game against QPR (first season) Our game against Tottenham (first season) But I want to believe we are going to see more consistency this season. Mourinho First match vs Leicester last season |
PietroRico:Ayagayagayagayo hei, Ayagayagayagayo |
Lukaku should have passed to Rashford there. Abeg make our players dey pass na until we score 3 or 4 |
I observed our players are not strong with the ball in their feet, except for two or three players. Our players have to be trained on how to be comfortable in possession, it was mostly the reason Madrid outclassed us. Looking at our two games this season, Valencia and Matic are the ones who can keep the ball securely. Pogba should have been okay but for his tendencies to be flashing in possession. Generally, it is obvious our play improved from last season. |
eph12:May be Herrera failed in his task. But we can take it as a one off failure. And Pogba has to be more responsible. |
The major problem yesterday was allowing Isco to play. The second major problem is not trying to win the ball back through direct tackles. |
SailorXY:You first go kirikiri or dem post you go Sambisa forest? |
