coogar:Fellaini did not chased Rooney out of the hole. Rooney played in front of Fellaini when Gaal finally understood the team according to your logic. Yori Yori. Fellaini can never be a better 10 than Rooney. All these your stories are for the gods. |
coogar:Jones beat Smalling in interceptions and clearance. Your defensive most treasured threat. Smalling is given a new contract only because he has reached 25 years, the ripe age defenders mature. Rooney played midfield because all our midfieders were injured and he alone could do the job there. Just like Carrick was asked to help out in defence or Blind in left back. Valencia did the best thing. Gaal's wouldnt have reacted if it happened at the middle of the season haven known the craziness of the EPL. Note: I am still waiting for Val's 15 matches as a right back. And how many of them we lost. Ukwu!!!. You said you did not list Oviedo? You listed Everton already. Good night jor. Your wahala is too much. Pappy Water. |
More fictions from the forerunner of Van Gaal. Now he says Gaal made a big error. lol All players started from ground zero under Gaal. They went to preseason. They played a few matches in the EPL. If we had relied on those players who were sold, we would have been battling relegation onto the last day. ![]() See you guys tomorrow. |
Those guys that use to dream. Can anyone of you dream thus: Arsenal 3 West Brom 5 Hull 0 Man United 6. |
coogar:Is Valencia a centre back? I am talking about using the same CLEARANCES AND INTERCEPTIONS for all our centre backs. coogar:Tortoise, try more. You said you could list 15. You listed just 7. And did we lose all these seven matches? Was Valencia responsible for the lost. I am going out. See you tomorrow. to finish the analysis. |
coogar:Jones who had the highest interceptions per minutes played and Clearances per minutes played in our team? Coogar, you be hypocrite. Rooney was more productive in the number 10 than Fellaini. Rooney best matches came from the number 10- West Ham, Arsenal, etc. Fellaini can never beat Rooney in the number 10 if they are to compete for that position alone. Fellaini is easily marked out and often too slow. Until a new right back comes. coogar:Gaal just came to the EPL, he didnt know how swiftly teams could hit on the counter. He didnt know too no team should be underrated. Some days you just take a draw instead of a losing it in the dead. Like the way Mata committed a foul against Arsenal in the very last minute. |
SailorXY:When last did we play the 3-5-2? Rafael has been fit since December. |
coogar:If you know say u be Coogar, bring our central defenders stats on interceptions and clearances. coogar:Valencia didnt play even up to 10 matches as RB under Moyes. In all you could only bring one match against Everton. |
coogar: Let me refresh your memory. At this time last season you said Van Gaal would sell Rooney, Jones and Valencia because they cannot pass. You went on to say Gaal will make Rafael, Kagawa, Nani, Zaha, Anderson, Cleverley, Chicharito integral part of his starting eleven. Van Gaal's fake forerunner. As for that gif, Val did the right thing our players were not opened to receive a pass. The only one who could have taken a pass to begin to allow others come into position didnt want any responsibility, so Val did the best thing under the circunstance. Against West Ham, we hurriedly play the ball back into the box and we were countered. Same thing happened against Leicester. |
coogar:Only one thing. List those Valencia 15 matches at left back under Moyes. You have the whole night to do this. I will come tomorrow so we analyse them as regard your 'fiction' that he lost us the games. I have already opened Valencia matches on my devise. See you later at midnight or tomorrow latest 8pm. |
coogar:Can we see these same stats for Phil Jones, Smalling, Rojo, Evans, McNair? Only the above stats. I want check something. |
coogar:Even if we buy Clyne, he will have to compete with Valencia. That's football. Chevchenco, Crespo, Torres were all benched by Drogba after they came in as supposed upgrade. Was Falcao not supposed to confine all our strikers to the permanently to the bench. Now you said you can list 7 games Val played, no more 15 matches he lost. Hahahaha. Fitionist. Obviedo scored against Gaal, so also Adebayo scored against Smalling. Benteke ate Smalling in the past. We can go back. Valencia is having his first season as a right back, and he did magnificently well. If u dey vex go hit head for wall. |
coogar:Hahahaha. You are more than this. Did Raphael play in 3 man defence? Did Rafael play wing back in successive matches? What about tackles, and othr dozens of defensive stats. Abeg carry this dirty comot or my face. You will soon go and fetch gifs. |
coogar:Valencia will still keep Rafael on the bench next season. Forget all these your stories. You can deceive others not me. All Rafael's 'sense', how many Assists does he have in his career? coogar:Now, it's under Moyes. lol How many games did Valencia play as a right back under Moyes? I doubt if he played up to 5 games because Rafael, Smalling, Jones all play right back. Chelsea game= blame Herrera's poor pace for Hazard's goal because he read the situation more than anyone. According one one article, that was a reason for United to get a DM like Macherano because even Carrcik wouldnt have stopped it. The report said Busquet had the athleticism to stop such. Everton= McNair has major fault. West Bom McNair. RVP missed a penalty. Southampton= Carrick lost the ball, Herrera outsmarted by Wanyama, and Blackett failed to react fast. You see how you have become a fictionists? |
When I first came here Coogar was trying a little to be an analyst. Now Coolieguy Tortoise would pass more as a fictionist. Also very slippery such that you hold his hand, he says it's leg. When you hold his leg, he says it's head, then tongue. When we lost to Sawsea and Leicester earlier in the season, Valencia wss not there. When we lost to Swansea again, Valencia did not start the match. |
coogar:That was Herrera's ball to track. Herrera was the only one who could have tracked it. According to you, Valencia lost us 10 matches. How many matches did Manchester United lost all season? Ukwu!!! ![]() If Valencia lost us so many games as you said, how come Van Gaal kept Raphael on the bench for him? What I saw was Valencia saving us in games, making last man tackle off his position against Aguero, etc. |
SailorXY:There is nothing like assumptions. I have noticed all these even before I joined this thread. In Ferguson'slast season, Rafael and Evra regressed so much in their defensive duties but they were still good going forward. Against City last season, Siva and Nasri ate Rafael for dinner. SailorXY:Mistakes are bound to happen. Rafael has had mistakes in the past, even against Bayern Munich when he was sent off. However, his overall defensive play is in suspect. He is now shaking. He is easily shaken off the road. |
weedtaker:Skills don't leave a player over night. Di Maria is still playing well for Argentina and can still win games single handedly. The problem has to be with the philosophy he finds himself, coupled with the players around him, the nervousness in the team and the over expectation from him. Despite all these hurdles, he is by far the most creative and productive player in the team. You mentioned left handed central midfield. I think that his best position. That was were it's being reported he did his best job in Benfica, he also did his best job for Madrid in that position, and he did his best job this season for Man United in that left side of our diamond midfield. The need to play Van Persie, Falcao and Rooney at same time meant one defender was sacrificed for more forward players- one number 10, two strikers. Di Maria was the principal victim of such a decision to play all big players. He had more work to do in the massive ground left in midfield because of the one man less at the back. He did his part by creating chances which were squandered principally by RVP and Falcao during the period we played the diamond, although some of the chances resulted in Assists while he himself took the bull by the horn and score a few. The problem however, was that due to the missed chances, we couldn't kill games early enough, our opponents recovered back into the game when Di Maria got tired from the 60th minute. Gaal needed to address this and at same time play all his big players when they were fit. This meant instead of playing the Diamond with a back four, Gaal went for another formation that will accommodate everyone. Di Maria, our best performer that period was taken off his comfort zone. With the acquisition of De Pay, Gaal's United next season will play more direct and aggressive like the Holland team of 2014 world cup if we have Di Maria and De Pay starting our games. More like SAF counter attacking football of 2007/8 seson instead of the tiki taka we are currently trying to play. If we are however, going to continue this tikitaka, I am afraid it will never fit Di Maria, just as Madrid style this season wouldnt have favoured him. Di Maria has never been one to get high good pass accuracy, he likes to have the space to use the ball, to run with it, burst forward and hit it for another team mate running. This was why he find Ronaldo, Bale, Marcelo easy to play with. Hit the ball in their front and they will catch it. When they beat Bayern, it was purely from counter started by Modric to Di Maria to forwards, before you know it, Di Maria who started it all is on hand to score again or provide the last pass. Such a long one. But I needed to explain it. |
Nihilist:This is an objective assessemnt from a neutral point. I have seen many people who said Valencia is the most important player for Manchester United this season. Some of are United fans, some Arsenal fans and some United fans. As for me, Val is the unsong hero.Valencia was pivotal to Gaal's possession football this season. Every time United held the ball shakily, there was almost immediate calm the moment the ball got to Valencia. As for all the talk that Rafael would have been more creative, I always ask, what is Rafael's average Assists per season since he joined Manchester United, even playing in Ferguson's champion teams. Rafael has been a weak link whenever we faced big teams with creative players like Hazard, Silva, Sterling, etc. He can be good against straight running pacing wingers, but poor against creative players. He was one of those who let us down against Leicester earlier this season. |
Dadehmola:No, you goofed. You wanted to prove that Di Maria played in the hole/number 10 like Young. You ended up helping my argument because: It's easier to make Assists from the wing than central midfield. Our wingers- Valencia, Nani, Giggs have had more Assists than our CMs. Ramires ever highest Assists from that position has been 2 in 2607 minutes. Just like our Anderson having 1 Assists from a similar position in 2007/2008 and his highest Assists ever is 3. Young played in the wing and central attacking midfield. Di Maria played in the wing and central midfield where Ramires plays for Chelsea or Javi Garcia played for Man City. Note the difference. |
7. His vertical style helps penetrate defences, either through a key pass or by carrying the ball and committing players. He is punishing the smaller teams, but equally performing in the bigger matches. It's now six assists and one goal in his last seven starts as a central midfielder, including a man of the match performance against Atlético in the Copa Del Rey. 8. Against a side like Barcelona, he is vital when attempting to win the ball back and then spring a counter attack. He doesn't possess the physicality of Khedira, but it's his work-rate and mobility that sees him given the job. Political reasons could yet see the South American leave in the summer. Dademola, where is the number 10/Central Attacking Midfied in all of these? |
5. The tactician revealed how he now views Di María, when trying to explain how is struggling to fit Isco into the side. "It's true that Isco doesn't fit this system that well. He can play in Di María or Modrić's spot, but he's not as comfortable there," said Ancelotti. The adaptation shouldn't have been that surprising; it's a role that Di Maria is already familiar. At Benfica, he would regularly feature on the left-hand side of Jorge Jesus' midfield diamond. On the right were Chelsea's Ramires and Manchester City's Javi Garcia in the holding position. Comment. Isco is number 10, he cant fit into central midfield, the position Di Maria is asked to play. A position similar to where Ramires plays for Chelsea or Javi Garcia, a natural DM plays for City. Ukwu!!! 6. That tactical flexibility is illustrated in the way he positions himself throughout matches. With Ronaldo cutting inside, he (Di Maria) drifts out to the flanks to provide width and crosses. His directness and pace causes opposing midfielder's problems if they don't track his late runs into the box. Dadehmola, did you really read this? ![]() |
4. Injuries to both Bale and Cristiano Ronaldo meant that Di María was still able to clock up plenty of game time, while Ancelotti used his now custom 4-3-3 a little more. Against Real Sociedad, Ancelotti was able to field a midfield three of Xabi Alonso, Sami Khedira and Luka Modrić for the first time. Real Madrid were 3-0 up within 30 minutes, eventually winning the match 5-1. Khedira was then cruelly ruled out for the rest of the season, whilst on international duty for Germany. Ancelotti initially decided the 4-2-3-1 was the best option without Khedira, but away victories over Espanyol and Real Betis with Di María on the left of a midfield three caused a rethink. "Yes, for the moment we will keep playing with the 4-3-3 formation," said the Italian in a press conference. "It gives us a good balance because all of our three midfielders work well enough." Asier Illarramendi and Casemiro are other midfield options, but both are better suited to breaking up the play and making simple passes. With Alonso and Modrić already in the centre Ancelotti wants someone with energy, drive and athleticism. With Di María as a central midfielder, Ancelotti has the right blend More to come. ![]() The above clearly states that Khedira was injured and that necessitated Di Maria to take his place in three man centre midfield involving Alonso and Modric. I ask you dadehmola, how is central midfield same as number 10 position? Let's continue. To the next stage. |
Dadehmola:Why you con go bring this article wey you take fail yourself? Let me help you highlight some. 1. When Gareth Bale became the latest 'Galactico' at Real Madrid last summer, it was largely expected that Ángel di María would be the one to make way. The Argentine held down the inverted right-winger position that Bale now occupies. 2. Carlo Ancelotti changed formation continuously in his opening few months at Madrid, though 4-2-3-1 was his predominant selection. When Bale played, Di María didn't. When the wide man did start, it was out on the right; he was essentially an under-study to the world's most expensive player. 3. The brilliant form of young Isco complicated matters further; if Ancelotti wanted a 'number 10' then it was the former Málaga man who would be selected. From the above, you can see that Isco was the number 10, the AM. While Di Maria was a winger. Now let's look at the next stage occasioned by injuries. |
Falcao 53 mins · Hacer cambios y tomar decisiones en la vida no es fácil! Pero hay momentos en que hay que hacerlo! Atrévete! To make changes and decisions in life is not easy! But there are times when you have to do it! Just risk it! ....................... Wetin bros dey talk? |
coogar:It's same pointing you will get when you project Ashley Young, Agbonlahor, Downing. Just as you got with Silva, Navas and Nasri. coogar:So I should believe OPTA data which are subject to interpretation instead of Ashley Young himself, Villa manager and Sir, Alex Ferguson? coogar:I am not disputing Young that is good. But my point is that 1. He played behind the striker in 2010/2011. .... 2. His utility aspect has always been exploited which boosted his stats even in 2007/2008. Young started his career as a striker in Watford, and that made him easy to get into fluid front when needed. I rest my case. |
Dadehmola:Staying central during defence. What havoc can one do in one owns half? |
Dadehmola:4-2-3-1 AND 4-4-2 Di Maria in left. 4-3-3. Di Maria operating the way SAF used Fletcher and Hagreaves. Stay central during defence, then on a counter/attacking drift wide. This is even more difficult than staying on the wing all day. See above. |
Dadehmola:Overall pattern The pattern was as expected – two counter-attacking sides playing out a cautious match, and the only two goals coming from corners. There were few clear-cut chances in open play, and despite the intention of both sides, relatively few dangerous counter-attacks either. Atletico started with their usual 4-4-2 shape but moved to 4-1-4-1 after the break, while Real’s system initially seemed a hybrid of 4-4-2 and 4-3-3, although looked more like a simple 4-4-2 the more the match continued. Di Maria had a burst of pace and whipped in a stream of crosses from the left, which was Real’s zone of strength. Marcelo supported him effectively and played some neat combinations, while Ramos also moved forward from centre-back to help down that side. Although Atletico were reasonably happy defending crosses, this was still Real’s best hope of getting back into the game – they didn’t seem to have enough space to break down Atletico’s defence from central zones. Marcelo to Di Maria was the game’s most frequent passing combination, despite the fact they were only on the pitch together for half of the 120 minutes. Real’s long wait for a tenth European Cup is over, although it’s difficult to pinpoint precise tactical reasons for the triumph in this final. Ancelotti’s changes were broadly effective and Di Maria was superb, but their star players were underwhelming. ...................................... You can see from above that Di Maria takes the ball forward, starting a counter. As they move into attacking Zone, Ronaldo moves inward joining Benzema while Di Maria goes to the wing. Something similar Fletcher and Agreaves have done for us previously.

Dadehmola:No that is a second striker. Ukwu!!! |
coogar:Just as Silva was deployed centrally but camped with either Nasri or Navas on the flank to exchange passes. coogar:Ashley Young said he was number 10 in September 2010. Ashley again said he was number 10 in March and confirmed he played same position when he scored for Denmark in February 2011. SAF said Young played the number 10 for Villa in 2010/2011. In February 2011, Villa coach and reports has it that Young was still playing behind the striker. Need not mention the ZM and whoscored reports throughout the season. |
