parrotibaba:1. Then you missed the reason for the main argument. The argument was about 2010/2011. 2. Even before he was converted he was also used as an AMC. |
parrotibaba:The argument went from wide to narrow. Wide- I said Young was used in fluid front. I supported it with whoscored which said Young played AM(C) before 2010. Coogar didnt want to agree to this so I narrowed it to where he couldnt escape. Narrow- That Young played in the hole in 2010/2011. This was our argument for the most of last night. This was what consumed our time with me giving backing with ZM and Zonal marking. Yet he was slippery, so I had to get SAF statement to back, but he said SAF is not OPTA. Then this morning, I got Young's statement and his coach to back. |
May be people didnt get the basis of this argument. Afrodoc confirmed my position but he went on to say I was wrong. 1. My last line of argument was that Young played behind the main striker in 2010/11. His second most productive season. Coogar disagreed. Afrodoc corroborated my position. 2. The other argument which I abandoned because there were no data at the time, so nothing solid to back, was that I said Young played in a fluid front before 2010/2011. Although more on the wing. Whoscored 2009/2010 kind of supported this, when it listed Young s the only Villa player who played AM(C) in some matches out of 23 players. So when compare to the best in the world Young does not really mention up as a winger because his stats were boosted by the central roles he was assigned. I doubt if Di Maria ever played the AM(C) for Madrid when he was the best in Assists. I think I have to quit this since people didnt understand it. |
parrotibaba:It's different. I am referring to only one match against BLACKBURN IN CARLING CUP IN SEPT 2010, where the coach decided he has discovered Young's best position. Then from the remaining 8 months of the season, Young was used centrally. You on your part assumed he was switched from game to game, games to games. No. |
May be you guys did not understand the interviews and articles I submitted. I had to truncate them for a quicker read. If I had produced them in full, only few would read. Young was converted to Central Attacking midfielder in September 2010. Even as of late February 2011, his coach gave an interview assessing Young's input as their NUMBER 10 (AMC). At the end, of the season, SAF said Young played the number 10 for Villa, Zonal Marking said same, whoscored said same. People making comments said same. I dont understand why this is even confusing to any one. You will see previous seasons, whoscored had Young in the wing and in the centre. But in 2010/2011 Young was in the middle in all the formations used by Villa. If he played in the wing, it will just be like we used Herrera in the DM in about 3 matches this season, out of the CM/AM he was deployed. |
parrotibaba:The pass on the wing doent tell he played as a winger. I have used Silva to give an example. Zonal marking was clear. I will fish that aspect out. Young went to camp with his left winger to exchange passes just as Silva did with Nasri. I dont know why this is hard. parrotibaba:No he wasnt switched around. He was converted fully from the wing to number 10 during their Carling cup fixture against Wigan in September. He started out from the wing, then then the second half he was switched to the hole and gave an assist then score one. After that the coach said he had the potential to be the best in the world in the number 10, then he converted him. So, would you say Alex Ferguson was wrong when he said he played the number 10? Was Young wrong himself when he said he played the number 10? |
afrodoc2:Coogar is wrong outrightly. 1. Ashley Young said he played in the hole in 2010/11. Same thing I have been saying. 2. Gerald Hollulier, Villa manager said he played Young in the hole in 2010/11 3. Sir Alex Ferguson said Villa played Young in the hole in 2010/2011 4. Papers said Villa played Young in the hole in 2010/2011 5. Zonal Marking said same thing. 6. Who scored said same thing. 7. Posters at the time said same thing. 8. I remember Young operated centrally in 2010/11 that season which prompted my invstigation. So how is Coogar right? I will like to know. |
coogar:You dont know what you are saying. Zonal marking clearly explained that Young went to camp with Aggonlanhor on the left thereby forming a triangle on the left with Agbonlahor and their left back. Same way Silva formed a triangle with Nasri..... More so, Silva is the natural 10. |
Have a good day people. |
ASTON VILLA ACE YOUNG ENJOYING NEW CENTRAL ROLE Submitted by Tribal Football Staff 4 years ago Aston Villa attacker Ashley Young is enjoying his positional shift under manager Gerard Houllier. Houllier now employs the playmaker in the role just behind the striker and Young insists this is where he does the most damage - as the "centre" of attention. He told Villa's website: "I love the role. I find I'm getting more space and more time on the ball, which is great. "I get to create openings for the team and I tend to get more shots off too. I am delighted to be playing there but, then again, like any player just to be in the team is great. "But playing in the hole definitely gives me more freedom to go out and express myself and go and play. You can influence the game more from the middle where I am now. "You can have more of a say on proceedings and that's what I thrive on. I am very confident I can score and create the goals needed to push us up the table." http://www.tribalfootball.com/articles/aston-villa-ace-young-enjoying-new-central-role-1473301 ................................................... Another one. "I like the way he played behind Emile," Houllier said. Asked whether he agreed with his predecessor, Martin O'Neill, that Young could hold his own with the best left-wings in Europe, Houllier replied: "As a left-winger? No. He can play on the wing. Whether he can be one of the best in the world in that position ... I think he can be one of the best in another position." ................. Gerard Houllier wants Ashley Young at heart of Aston Villa By Janine Self for The Mail on Sunday UPDATED: 20:31 GMT, 24 September 2010 O'Neill, perhaps inadvisably, once described Young as one of the best wingers in the world, only to see the player scuttle straight into his shell. He took some prising back out. Managerial successor Houllier also thinks Young has all the attributes to grace the biggest stages although, interestingly, in a more central position just off the striker. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-1314998/Gerard-Houllier-wants-Ashley-Young-heart-Aston-Villa.html ...................................... Ashley Young ‘to become Aston Villa’s top earner’ Default author imagemetrowebukmetroSaturday 2 Oct 2010 7:56 am Commenting on the winger’s England status, the Frenchman said: ‘We want the player to step up another level. He is on the fringe of the international team. I want him to be a regular.’ With three goals in seven appearances so far this season, Young has successfully moved in from the left flank to occupy a more central role behind the main striker. More on ZM. Chelsea 3-3 Aston Villa January 2, 2011 Gerard Houllier used Gabriel Agbonlahor on the left, with Ashley Young playing off Emile Heskey. Ciaran Clark started at left-back, and Carlos Cuellar returned at right-back. Houllier tactics work well That said, Villa were the better side in the opening period, and credit should go to Houllier for his starting line-up. Not only did Villa prevent Chelsea from playing, they were also positive and direct when they had the ball, and took the game to Carlo Ancelotti’s side for the majority of the half. Houllier’s tactics worked well. He left out Marc Albrighton, a promising young player but one who remains suspect defensively (see his mistake for John Terry’s goal in the 89th minute) in order to play Agbonlahor and Stewart Downing. Downing played on the right and tracked Ashley Cole up and down the line very well (much like Kieran Richardson did when Sunderland played 3-0 at Stamford Bridge) and nullified Cole as an attacking threat. ........ Young finds space Young had a good game, taking advantage of the fact that Chelsea were lacking a true holding player – Essien is not at his best there – to drift across the pitch into space. The best part about a player like Young – someone fielded centrally but likely to drift from flank to flank – is that he naturally moves into very good positions to form triangles between he, the main striker (Emile Heskey) and the winger. Villa didn’t create a lot of chances, but they were always a threat. The disadvantage of Villa playing just two central midfielders (counting Young as a forward) was that they were occasionally outnumbered in the centre. Petrov and Nigel Reo-Coker took it in turns to get forward, but they sometimes both moved too high up the pitch, and left Villa with space in front of their back four. Frank Lampard was not playing well and wasn’t able to take advantage of this fully, but the numerical deficit partially contributed to Villa’s yellow card count – both central midfielders picked up their bookings after getting caught too high up the pitch. - Zonal Marking. |
lekkie073: See below Silva when City beat us at Old Trafford last season. A seasoned number 10. This is what we mean when we say a central attacking midfielder drifted wide. Ozil does this often, even for Germany. ............................. United shape Moyes changed his system completely for this game, and seemed to start with a 4-3-3. This is the first time he’s played this formation with United in the Premier League, and seemed to be a response to City’s system – probably to deny Yaya Toure space and time on the ball. Fellaini was tasked with stopping him in the opening stages, although came out second best, at one point clearly not having the physicality to knock Toure off the ball. Cleverley continues to look nervous in possession and positionally he was uncertain – although he shared that with manyof his teammates. Silva United’s new shape backfired spectacularly, however, because the formation allowed David Silva all the space he required to dominate the opening ten minutes. He darted either side of Michael Carrick from his number ten role, continually collecting the ball in those pockets and using the ball in a quick, efficient and unspectacular manner. He rarely threaded through-balls behind the defence, but instead played neat passes, often out towards the flanks, and increased the pressure upon the Manchester United defence. The way he collected the ball and darted through the United backline in the opening minute was superb, and resulted in the opener – after Silva was denied by Rafael’s excellent last-ditch tackle, Samir Nasri found space away from Rafael and his shot rebounded to Dzeko for a tap-in. The only criticism of Silva is that he doesn’t win games himself often enough. He was the best attacking player on show by a distance, dictating the tempo and flow of the game, but didn’t quite produce a genuinely defence-splitting pass, or provide a significant goal threat. Indeed, his fabulous recent strike at Hull was his only goal in the last 20 games, and it’s this lack of individual matchwinning ability that prevents him being regarded as one of the very best in Europe. His ability to facilitate the attacks of others, however, is unquestionable. - Zonal Marking.

lekkie073:You have a big head but your IQ must be the lowest on this thread. I have observed you over time. Do you now mean Sir Alex Ferguson was lying when he said Ashley Young played in the centre behind the striker, just as Manchester United use Wayne Rooney? If you project Ozil and Silva playing in the hole/number 10 in many matches, you will see they receive most passes in the side because they drift wide. Common sense they say is not common. Arent you ashamed of your ignorance? When you see a superior argument you should know. Whoscored, Zonal Marking, Sir Alex Feguson, Articles, posters- all said way back in 2011 that Aston Villa deployed Young behind the striker as a number 10 (Central Attacking Midfielder). |
Just to promote Young he go use OPTA stats for other wingers, but e go use balogun market stats to provide Young Assists. E wan make people believe say Young don reach Di Maria or Ozil or Fabregas Assists. Instead of 10 Assists, Young con be 16 (16 fake Assists). And Young na second striker e play. Oga Titus hand don catch you today. ![]() Otu de oya sare wa gba kekere kerewawo Atu ti de oya burukutu make e sarabara owey (Oya shekini ni ni ni ni [3x]) Oya shekina na na na na Ehn ehn ![]() |
This Coogar sef no understand English. Olodo for UK. SAF was very clear. Young played in the hole in 2010/2011. I have seen many people wrote same thing in their articles. All these years Coogar has been scamming us that Young had 7 goals and 10 assists (OPTA) in 2010/11, it was from a second striking position. Shame! Shame!! Shame!!! ![]() Guys good night. Flawless victory. Yori Yori. |
3/07/2011 23:00, Report by Nick Coppack in Boston Young shines on debut Sir Alex Ferguson says he was “very satisfied” with Ashley Young's first Manchester United appearance and believes the former Aston Villa forward will create plenty of goals for his new club. The England international, wearing the no.18 shirt, played 67 minutes as a right winger against New England Revolution in the Reds' 4-1 victory on Wednesday night. He saw plenty of the ball in the first period and teed up presentable chances for both Wayne Rooney and Dimitar Berbatov. It was enough to cement Sir Alex's belief that Young is one of the finest talents in the English game, and the United boss believes the Reds will benefit greatly from his delivery from wide areas during the forthcoming campaign. “[Right wing] was his position with Aston Villa until last season when they started playing him in behind the strikers – Gabriel Agbonlahor or Darren Bent – in a more advanced role, like the way we use Wayne Rooney. “His capabilities are such that he can play wide left, he can play in behind the strikers and he can play wide right. He showed tonight he's a fantastic crosser of the ball. I think he hit three fantastic crosses in the game, which maybe isn't something we're used to with the way we play. But if we do get used to it then there's goals there. I was very satisfied.” http://www.manutd.com/en/Tour-2011/Tour-2011-News/2011/Jul/Young-impresses-on-debut.aspx Coogar, you need to apologise to the house for wasting our time tonight. The last time you won an argument against me was somewhere before December 2013. I documented it. When again will you win an argument against me? 2015 is almost halved already, last year I knocked you left right and centre. Yori Yori. ![]() One last thing, can you see how msileading your stats, graph, charts and gifs have been since Methuselah? You are exposed. Ukwu!!! |
Young, who has 15 England caps, played for 67 minutes in a right-wing position and is expected to compete with fellow wingers Nani and Antonio Valencia for a place in United's starting XI. He can also play as a central attacking midfielder, however, and United coach Sir Alex Ferguson said his versatility made him a valuable acquisition. "(Right wing) was his position with Aston Villa until last season, when they started playing him in behind the strikers -- Gabriel Agbonlahor or Darren Bent -- in a more advanced role, like the way we use Wayne Rooney," said Ferguson. "His capabilities are such that he can play wide left, he can play in behind the strikers and he can play wide right. He showed tonight he's a fantastic crosser of the ball." Macheda, 19, is seeking to make a mark at Old Trafford after failing to impress during a loan spell at Sampdoria last season that culminated in the Italian side being relegated to Serie B. "I've learned a lot from that experience. It makes me a better player and a better man, the bad experience makes you grow up," the Italian told MUTV. Coogar you need to apologize to me now. You have been scamming us. Zonal Marking and Whoscored were right. If I dug deep I would have seen where they explained his fluid front role in previous seasons. |
coogar:The whoscored charts are there for every one to see. Also Zonal Marking has several match day analysis. Even now, you have only provided less than 5 matches. Check whoscored 2010/2011. |
Look at what somebody wrote here when it was reported United were signing Ashley Young. Eddie Pegus Young is a great signing Nani is a great player Valencia is a great player!!! END of story! All 3 are needed at Man U! Young has played this last season as second striker/center attacking midfield so in a 4-2-3-1 Nani Young Valencia can all play as the 3 behind Rooney! If any of you were real Man U fans you wouldn't be begging for any of them to be sold! Because they are all GREAT! 24 June 2011 at 21:45 · Like · 5 https://www.facebook.com/goal/posts/119730551449297 |
coogar:See him receive passes in central midfield. I have told you too this doenst tell anything. Zonal Marking wrote as far back as December 2010 that Young playing in central midfield drifted wide like Ozil . |
coogar:But elsewhere, we are seeing players who have spent their formative years as wingers being played in the central playmaking role this season. Examples include Ashley Young at Aston Villa, Aaron Hunt at Werder Bremen, Adem Ljajic at Fiorentina, Jesper Gronkjaer at Copenhagen and Mathieu Valbuena at Marseille. The result is that these players interpret the playmaker position differently. Rather than staying central and trying to find space in between the lines, they drift to the flanks and pick the ball up there. This was how Ozil thrived last season at Werder Bremen. Raphael Honigstein described him as “a one-man source of creativity and surprise. Operating behind the strikers, he’s both a playmaker and an auxiliary winger; his intelligent runs provide the width that should be missing in Thomas Schaaf’s diamond formation.” ......................... Coogar, you re in UK but you interprete English like someone in a primary school in Owo. |
coogar:This doesnt tell whether a player was used as an AM or a winger. If you put Silva vs Man United last season when they beat us 3-0 you will get same result. You have only posted 2. Until you post over 25 before we can have an overall picture. |
coogar:You are the one talking trash. Zonal Marking and whoscored said the same thing that Young played as an AM in 2010/2011. Zonal Marking is a post match analysis platform. Whoscored try to be precise as the match kick off. coogar:So also Ozil and Silva will show they receive passes in the sides rather in the middle because they drift wide. I can also post ZM several 2010/11 matches to back. |
coogar:How many times have I proven to you in the past that OPTA starting formation is inaccurate as it's presumed from the starting eleven announced? You remember we did experiment and I won thrice. One was when Ozil was put in the number 10 vs Bayern Munich but in the match he was in the wing. Whoscored adjusted theirs rightly after 3 minutes of play. Also same way they put Kagawa in the number 10 instead of Januzaj. I think against Swansea. This is why tactics sites like Zonal Marking are the best to rely upon. Again we have ZM confirming whoscored formation that Young played the number 10 in 2010/2011 season. See below in case you didnt see it in my earlier post. "But elsewhere, we are seeing players who have spent their formative years as wingers being played in the central playmaking role this season (2010/2011). Examples include Ashley Young at Aston Villa, Aaron Hunt at Werder Bremen, Adem Ljajic at Fiorentina, Jesper Gronkjaer at Copenhagen and Mathieu Valbuena at Marseille." Coogar pls give up already. This one is too obvious. |
coogar:1. Is this about Rooney? Stop diverting attention. 2. I am not accusing Young of drifting. I was reemphasizing my earlier post of ZM that he played in the wing butthe upper part cut off. |
coogar:Cooleydied Toirtoise, How many times have I proven to you n the past that OPTA starting formation can't be relied upon for post match analysis. It's a presumed formation from starting 11 announced. You remember when I told u this and we experimented thrice. They put Ozil in the whole against Bayern last season, but Ozil played in the wing. Whoscored were sensible to adjust theirs after 3 minutes. Same on Kagawa in the wing and Januzaj in the whole I think against swansea, but opta had Kagawa in the hole. This is why post match tactics stats is to be relied on, like ZM, which in this case confirmed what who scored had for Young in 2010.11. Young played in Central attacking midfield. |
coogar:If Rooney is not Assisting he is Scoring. Rooney has never played 37 (3306 minutes) matches for us sef. 1. OPTA Rooney had 12 goals, 10 Assist in 2020 minutes In 2012/13 from the AM. Young 7 goals, 10 Assist in 3306 minutes in 2010/2011 from the AM. 2. Rooney, Mata and Carzola had the highest Assists in 2012/13. Carzola needed 300 minutes Mata needed needed 228 minutes Rooney needed 202 minutes to provide an Assist. This tells me Rooney had the highest Assist in 2012/13. ............................ This is not about Rooney. It's about your scam! elampiro: |
coogar:When you see whoscored say something try and see if formation websites back it up. 1. Introducing…the central winger? December 3, 2010 A clear contradiction in terms, but it’s not as ludicrous as it might seem. One of the key trends of the last decade was the struggle of the classic number ten, the central playmaker who would generally play in behind the strikers. The reasons for this have been discussed before – from the popularity of the “Makelele role” that saw playmakers struggle for space, to the predominance of counter-attacking football that discouraged the thoughtfulness of a Juan Riquelme, to the popularity of the 4-5-1 / 4-3-3 – there seemed to be a general trend against trequartistas. Players who would have been No 10s often moved out wide, or played deeper in midfield, or were even used as false nines. However, this summer’s World Cup confirmed the predominance of the 4-2-3-1, with three of the four semi-finalists (Spain, Germany, Holland) all using this system. This, of course, requires a central playmaker, and Xavi, Mesut Özil and Wesley Sneijder were widely regarded as three of the stars of the competition. So, we now have a situation where arguably the major formation of today features a type of player that has been overlooked in recent years. Examples For some clubs, this is not a problem – players who played elsewhere a couple of years ago have simply been moved to play as a number ten, in some cases now playing in their ”natural’ position ‘in the hole’ in 4-2-3-1s. Wesley Sneijder was often used on the wing at Real Madrid, but when Jose Mourinho took him to Inter, the side was built around him regardless of whether it was 4-3-1-2 or 4-2-3-1. But elsewhere, we are seeing players who have spent their formative years as wingers being played in the central playmaking role this season. Operating behind the strikers, he’s both a playmaker and an auxiliary winger; his intelligent runs provide the width that should be missing in Thomas Schaaf’s diamond formation.” Evidence With the use of Chalkboards, we find that there is more to this idea than mere theory. Gerard Houllier has stated his belief that Young can become a top class playmaker for Aston Villa, playing just behind a main striker. But take his passing Chalkboard from a game earlier this season, against Wolves, where he constantly drifts to the flank. For comparison purposes, it is placed side-by-side with Steven Gerrard (someone who has played the central attacking midfield role for years), in a rare occasion he has been used just off Fernando Torres this season: Source: Zonal Marking. .............................................. Aston Villa 1-0 Man City: Bent strikes on debut January 22, 2011 Formations The home side were set out in a 4-1-4-1 shape, with Stiliyan Petrov playing as the holding man ahead of the defence. Young played very deep – rather than staying up as a link between the midfield and Bent, he dropped alongside Downing and spent much of the game inside his own half. Zonal Marking. Ayagayagayagayo hei, Ayagayagayagayo. Good night. |
If whoscored says a player played in the Attacking Midfield Centre in a match, it means that player started from that position. Even if he were to be moved to another position later due to substitutions or changed in tactics. Nobody can tell me anything about whoscored. I have read it long and well enough. I opened it down then see how scores are changing every minute and after every incidence. Ashley Young was Villa's Attacking Midfielder in 2010/2011 in all their formations. This was his major position that season. He was their only player out of 23 tagged with AM(C) in 2009/2010. The above are the only two seasons we can get from records. The so called productivity from the wings is a scam! |
coogar:Lies. whoscored formation records only starting formations. They get their formation from opta, them after 1-5 minutes of game, they either leave it or adjust it according to what they see on the pitch. Even if there are changes 10 minutes later, it wont reflect in their formation. I have studied them for a long time. I opened whoscored during matches and I see how every player marks and stats change as games are played. Whoscored get their formations right over 90% of the time. See here for instance: http://www.whoscored.com/Matches/829880/Live Here Phil Jones was substituted after 4 minutes, Blind too after 38 minutes. Herrera came on and Rooney moved to DM. Smalling went to defence but whoscored did not reflect these changes. Till thy kingdom come, the starting players are left in their positions. Our match against Burnley Blind |
coogar:How did Rooney come into this. According to opta stats, Young had 7 goals and 10 Assists. I dont know where you are adding salt and pepper from. coogar:Just because we can't source data to argue 2007/2008, your lies can be allowed to fly as story for the gods, for the gods ooo. 16 salt and pepper assists. deflections, rebounds, miss attempts scored by team mates are added. Our standard here has been opta assists- Well intended assists. |
