Through balls in EPL from 2008/2009 where recording began. I left out Carzola, Arshavin and Stephen Ireland in 17,18,19
|
Sanchez and Pogba are leading in through balls in the team, followed by Fred & Mata. Yet people said Fred is not creative. Hazard, William, Mane, Kevin De Bruyne, Fred, Mata have same number of through balls in the league. UNA NO KNOW BALL |
eph12:DeGea na player abi na goalkeeper? |
patrickmuf:Shaw sat on the bench second half of last season watching Young. Young sent everyone to the bench and even pocketed Salah, the only defender to do that the whole of Europe. Shaw was relegated by Gaal, then Mourinho. Shaw was there, Young went to world cup. Young injured and England recalled Shaw, then he made one run where the media tag him world class. So Mourinho couldn't go against the media |
patrickmuf:You wont understand. Time will tell. Against Chelsea, Martial worked more with other players than Shaw. |
eph12:From whose cross did Martial score against Chelsea? Opta wont record that, but EPL stat should. |
patrickmuf:The defenders should be ashamed that wingers are better in their defensive positions, and given the arm band. Since Ferguson left, no player is been able to do what Young did for us when he played number 11 position (left wing) under Gaal. He was the reason we beat Liverpool, Tottenham, City, etc silly that season. But for injury to Rojo, he was drafted to left back where Shaw, Blind were under performing. Shaw had to be allowed to play now because he is young with many years ahead of him. And he is hyped by the media. Mourinho using him to win the media. |
Adisaowalla:Like you people thought I was wrong on Lukaku abi? They also thought I wrong on Darmian because I wanted Valencia to play. It took us half a season for the majority to agree with me. I say what I know is the truth. I see deep when I watch football. You guys will one day understand this lack of flair in passing of Shaw. Just watch him when he has the ball in the half line and Martial is marked. He is very predictable to square it side ways or back, and even done sluggishly even when a forward is calling for the ball in the middle of the final 3rd. |
eph12:You cannot argue facts. I produced the stats at the time. |
eph12:The rebound from which Martial scored from the other time would not be counted as an Assist. The pass Young gave to Sanchez today from which Martial scored, would not be counted as an Assist. That is a Second Assist. Even Martial's second against Chelsea was a move started by Young with a clever flip to Mata. These are the kind of quick passes on that Shaw will not have the expertise to give the precise pass. Today, I went to the field where I play football with some young guys in a club. I heard two of them saying only 3 players in Manchester United - Pogba, Young and Martial. |
eph12:After playing more than 50% time more than Young. Yet Young still more productive in chances created. Young provides more for Martial in Assists and Second Assists despite playing far from him. Most of Martial's goals have nothing to do with moves from the left. |
eph12:Lingard was outscoring him. Was he playing in a different team? |
patrickmuf:Who is Dalot in football when one mentions Young? Even Shaw? Shaw might not be able to achieve what Young has achieved in football. Young has provided goals for Martial than Shaw who plays on same side with him. |
eph12:And Ashley Young keeps giving the Assist or Second Assist from the right while Shaw has no contribution to the goals. Just imagine Young behind Martial on the left. |
eph12:That was not the argument. Why then was the comparison of goals with other forwards in the league. At the time, Lukaku had gone nearly ten matches scoring ones if memory serve right. The defence was that we were packing the bus. |
codedguy1:I know every side I stay on, it is likely the general group quickly move to the opposite. ![]() Usually, when I return after I had taken a new position on a player that is not settled yet, I meet people lining up and leaning against that position. I think may be they do it for the fun of it. If I say Pereira is a write off, it is most likely when I return next, people would be lining up to say Pereira is what we need. And before you know it, the whole house will be praising Pereira. Even those who never had an opinion will begin to join the majority. The tendency for the majority of fans here to agree to majority opinion and make it a consensus opinion of the thread is the reason Chelsea thread has over taken this one in traffic. Originality is killed here. |
dopeJemi:Una no get football eyes. Na ogogoro eyes una get. Shaw no get passing flair. Simple. Not that he is a bad player. |
codedguy1:Did we not argue Lukaku last season. It was me alone vs the whole house, except one guy like that. It took almost one year for you guys to start observing what I observed last year. I can go fetch those arguments. |
slimghost: I don't care how many people gang up against me as long as I state the truth objectively. You guys should remember how the whole thread ganged up against me last season when I said Lukaku didn't have the quality of Aguero, Kane, etc. Some even said he was more useful than Salah and Hazard. They said he was not being fed, at the time Lingard was out performing Lukaku in goals per minutes. Now Martial is playing in same team and out performing him. But I accept him as out striker knowing his limitations. He is better than what he was at the time when he just stood in the box isolating himself, not pressing for the ball and not contesting long balls from our defence. Me no know how una take dey judge this ball. |
Leyqute:Connecting with Martial who plays along his left foot would not be a problem na. You cannot compare forward passing flair of Shaw to Young. Do you realize Young is one of the most productive players (in terms of Key passes and Assists) in EPL history? The problem is not many people sabi watch ball. |
slimghost:I don't care about the opinion of people wey no know ball about me. Most people here have the tendency of going with the majority opinion, I am not like that. I watch my ball and analyse it fairly. Matic is always one of our top performers. Not only Fred taken off, but also Mata. It was tactical to match the physicality and strength of the Bournemouth team. I don't expect an average fan to understand that. United could not impose the same passing technique vs Everton in the second half, but Fred was very mobile battling for the ball and even gave Sanchez through ball which he miscontroled. I think twice in the opening minutes. When passing didn’t work, Mourinho decided to match Bournemouth physicality with Rashford and Herrera. Then with Lingard. |
Leyqute:Was it not Young who passed to Sanchez, then Sanchez squared for Martial to equalize? That was not even the first pass to Sanchez. I am not even taking about particularly incidences, I am talking about general style of play. Shaw is a poor passer and shows attack most times. You cannot compare the two. You could also see Ashley Young making close control of the ball through the middle while bursting forward until he was brought down near the box. |
This has been clarified already
|
Lacomb:WAEC explained that you can only asked from the member country. I read it. |
Leyqute:It depends on what move is on. Ashley Young, despite playing from his weaker side doesnt find it difficult to pick the forward (central attacking men) even at top speed. You guys should try to open your minds and watch this ball. |
slimghost:Matic is not shaking. We lost or drew many matches while he was away. He came back to stabilize us. Matic doesn't even need to be defended, his performance will answer you. Wait for the big games, I hope he gets some rest. Shaw is a poor forward passer if his left foot pass along the line is not on. Fred was the only player for us today in the first half. |
Rashford was lucky, but his first would have been blocked if he shot. So God was for us there. His big miss was the one he stamped the keeper after initially well controlled the ball with his body. He had another opportunity to run ahead his marker but his next touch was poor. There I missed Lukaku. In this team, many of the players are half baked. 'A' has some qualities and lacking others. 'B' has some qualities 'A' lacks but needing some 'A' has . Hard to see a complete player in what he does, like Aguero, Suarez, etc. |
Matic is invaluable in that midfield. We have been playing the same players for about three weeks now and the most hardworking are expected to drop in performance. I praised Ashley Young for his high performance and concentration. However, Matic is very important in our team for what he brings. Matic is one player who is most unlikely to be dispossessed. While fresh, you hardly get past him and he wins lost of duels. His only shortcoming is that he is naturally slow going forward. Pogba is now showing world class performance every day. I think we should have left Sanchez on because as soon as he left, we were left our decisions in the final third became worse. We already had two workaholics (Rashford and Herrera) who came on for creative players (Mata and Fred). Lingard for Sanchez killed our decision making even though we were playing faster. Luke Shaw with his left foot only, stalls some what would have been swift forward play. Most times he had to square play inward to Matic or Lindelof instead of picking his number 10, 9, or even 7 in the final third. But he is trying sha. A win is a win. It is not easy for a team low in confidence to keep coming from behind. The work rate was low today, I think using same players with little or no rotation causes fatigue. |
Oasis007:Please don't suggest Matic to be benched. Abeg |
Lana1:His second half was a classy show. Grew in confidence and played quick passes between the lines. Good recovery to help defence. |
elampiro:Flashback |
In three matches in a row now, Lindelof is playing like a world class defender. He is now my best Centre Back in the team. He plays the ball out comfortably. Smalling goofed with that tackle. He should have known better. With Fred's second half performance, he should be given a run of games as the third midfielder. He is swifter than Pogba and Lukaku in forward building with team mates. Although he lost possession so much and misplaced most of his passes in the first half. It is clear he is a good player and just need to blend with the new environment. Mourinho is okay, I see nothing wrong. He is gradually getting cohesion from his players. Confidence is getting high. The management did well to have backed him, gave him more time and lifted pressure off him. Rebels like Antonio Valencia are the losers. |
