Elrufai poised to further shed blood of #ArbaeenTrekNigeria 2017 mourners

The Kaduna state governor, Nasiru El-rufai has concluded plans to shed the blood of mourners taking part in the solemn religious rite of #ArbaeenTrekNigeria 2017 in the state if what he circulated through one of his media aides, Samuel Aruwan late Monday is anything to go by.

Mr. El-rufai, not to be outdone by the massive bloodletting in Kano by the police on the orders of his counterpart there, has similarly alerted the security agencies to pounce mercilessly on the religious minority group, which he pretentiously declared “unlawful society.” According to the statement issued and signed by the ego-challenged Aruwan, “the government will arrest and prosecute anyone that marches in the state in the name of Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN).”

Aruwan went on to say that security agencies have been alerted… to mount surveillance in all parts of the state. The statement further said that the Kaduna state government is “concerned by reports” emanating from neighbouring state, and has consequently advised “residents of the state” especially “Kaduna communities close to the borders of neighbouring states” and security agencies to alert on any procession by members of IMN in any part of the state. This is seen by keen observers to be a signal to security forces and thugs to mercilessly attack members of the Movement without any consequences.

It will be recalled that similar call last year around the time of Ashura resulted in the brutal attacks of members of the IMN by a combined team of soldiers, police and thugs, resulting in the death of about five people, torching of schools, religious centre and residences of some members of the IMN. Although all those who carried out those heinous crimes are known, and were indeed seen freely moving in police vans (thugs and policemen) as they looted then set our buildings on fire, none has been punished in any way.

El-rufai’s animosity towards the Islamic Movement in general and Sheikh Ibraheem Zakzaky in particular is at its peak. During the Zaria genocide of December 2015, El-rufai was the one used to locate the Sheikh using geo-location facilities via phone call. It was also El-rufai that executed and supervised the secret mass grave burial of hundreds killed. He also was the architect of mass destruction of our properties including schools, religious centres, graves and residences. It was El-rufai that declared IMN guilty while announcing formation of a lopesided Kangaroo judicial commission of inquiry only for him to set aside its findings that indicted the military and his government. El-rufai only recently called Sheikh Zakzaky “animal” on a television programme and only reluctantly substituted it with a more civil word on instistence of the TV presenter.

Apparently, El-rufai is set to let hell loose this time around before the day of reckoning.

This governor, similar to the Kaduna state one, may have been promised a higher office beyond that of a governor, but I think he has just committed a political hara-kiri. In Kano state at least. Unearth the Shia Mass Graves in Nigeria

Last week thousands of Orphaned children of the victims of Zaria Genocide protested in the Nigerian capital, Abuja, asking President Buhari and the Nigerian Government "Where are our parents?". The Orphaned children wore their various school uniforms and staged the protest. Their parents went to Zaria on 12th December, 2015, to attend the Flag-changing ceremony of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN) under the leadership of His Eminence Sheikh Ibraheem Zakzaky at the Iconic Zaria Husseiniyya from the Flag of mourning to Flag of celebrating the Birth Anniversary of Prophet Muhammad (sa). There parents were not seen till date.

President Buhari sent the Army to Zaria on that occasion and they brutally slaughtered 1000+ Shia children, women and men and wickedly dumped the dead bodies in mass graves at night to bury the evidences. That inhuman and brutal massacre of innocent Nigerians shocked the world, the savagery of the slaughter was extreme and the inhumanity glaring. President Buhari then visited Saudi Arabia and Qatar boasting that he murdered 1000+ innocent Nigerians "to curtail Iranian influence in Africa". But today Iranian influence continue to grow in Africa. Every week African government officials troop to Iran to improve ties and sign bilateral agreements for economic ties. President Buhari that thought mass-murder of Shia civilians will curtail Iranian influence in Africa can only helplessly watch these developments.

The thousands Orphaned children of #ZariaMassacre are today primary and High school students with inquisitive minds, they have all the rights to ask President Buhari "Where are our parents?" as their parents left home on that unfortunate day and disappeared with no trace of them, Enforced Disappearances and state-sponsored terrorism by the Buhari's Regime. One of the protesters, Fatima Mustapha whose father, Dr. Mustapha Saed, and her three (3) brothers disappeared asked President Buhari to produce her family members or their dead bodies. Another protester, Aliyu A. Zaki, asked President Buhari what happened to his five (5) relatives - three sisters, a child and a son-in-law?

The first action of Buhari, Elrufai and their murderous gang after the inhuman massacre of 1000+ innocent Nigerians in Zaria was to bury the victims in mass graves. Elrufai then destroyed all the physical evidences of the Shia pogrom. This action is a war crime under the Rome Status of the International Criminal Court of Hague. The kangaroo commissions Buhari and Elrufai formed were to dilute their heinous crimes of genocide against the Nigerian Shia minority.

Before the inhuman Zaria genocide, Nigerians only hear the phrase "mass graves" from #BokoHaram massacres then President Buhari brutally murdered 1000+ innocent Nigerians and wickedly dumped bodies in mass graves at night. Nigerians should ask this question "What is the connection of Buhari, Elrufai and their murderous gang with BokoHaram terrorism?"

In past governments BokoHaram chose Buhari to be one of their representative in negotiations with the Nigerian government as they said they trusted him. Recently the Minister of Women Affairs, Aisha AlHassan, accused Elrufai of been part of BokoHaram #ChibokGirls abduction. Anybody that will plan and execute the brutal slaughter of 1000+ people must be related to bloodthirsty terrorism. In Zaria genocide Buhari, Elrufai and their murderous gang burnt Shia infants alive and burnt Shia pregnant women alive, why such extreme savagery and barbaric inhumanity?

On a final note, Nigerians should insist on the unearthing of the Shia mass graves of 1000+ innocent Nigerians. Elrufai confessed to the existence of one Shia mass grave in Mando, outskirt of Kaduna. Where are the remaining, we must ask?

*2 killed by police in Kano*

*As IMN begins Arbaeen trek to Zaria*

Two unidentified members of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria were killed by mobile policemen in Kano who were drafted to stop the Arbaeen annual trek that started peacefully in Kano today.

Thousands of IMN members started the trek from Kofar Mazugal inside Kano metropolis in the morning around 10:00am, prayed afternoon prayers at Kofar Nasarawa and terminated today’s trek at the popular Lado overhead bridge.

It was while people were dispersing that mobile policemen arrived the scene and started firing teargas and eventually live bullets. A muslim brother and Sister were confirmed shot and killed by the police and their corpses taken by their attackers. Many people were reportedly injured.

When news spread that mobile police had laid siege on the Arbaeen trekkers in the outskirts of Kano, a London based human rights group, IHRC, issued a press release calling for restraint on the part of the police authorities.

"We are deeply concerned at reports of this build-up given the past attacks on the Islamic Movement by the police and armed forces. We demand the Nigeria police and authorities de-escalate the situation immediately," said Islamic Human Rights Council (IHRC).

However while terminating today’s trek, a leading member of IMN, Dr. Sunusi Abdulqadir, called on members of IMN to go back home peacefully as they came, and return tomorrow to continue the march to Zaria.

The Islamic Movement in Nigeria is set to commence the annual #ArbaeenTrekNigeria �� 2017, which is scheduled to commence this year from the Kano zone from tomorrow Sunday November 5.

The Arbaeen trek is a solemn walk undertaken exactly 40 days from the date that Imam Hussein, the grand son of the Prophet was brutally martyred in Karbala (now in Iraq). The Imam had set out for good leadership and justice, in opposition to tyranny and oppression of the time. He was met with a brutal force that gave him no choices beyond surrender in humiliation or be martyred. Imam Hussein chose to be honoured by martyrdom.

We will be mostly clad in black, because it is a mourning procession. It will take us a few days to complete the walk to be done from seven zones. Usually, people of all age groups trudge in the scorching sun during the day and rest in camps outside in the chilling cold at night. They traverse through some rough terrains, go through uneven roads, endure some severe tongue lashing of critics and face some dangerous attacks from security agents. Without anything more than the burning love for “The Master” Hussein, with flags and banners informing the world of the purpose of the journey!

This Arbaeen Trek is reenactment of that trek by family of the Prophet (S) following the martyrdom of Hussein(AS) and symbolises the tribulations they underwent in the hands of tyrants. It is a symbolic religious duty you would see Shi’as do worldwide.

For those who could make it, they trek to Karbala had since commenced. Nigeria’s delegation is currently participating in the trek from Najaf to Karbala. Those of us who couldn’t make the trip to Iraq will trek various distances to varying places according to our abilities.

This year, Christians and other international observers have been invited to participate and give it adequate coverage. The Arbaeen trek has been the rallying point for global good leadership and justice against oppression and tyranny.

Update on Sheikh Ibraheem Zakzaky

Presidential Investigation Panel sets another date for IMN leader, gets angry as its lack of Independence and credibility gets exposed

The Presidential Investigation Panel looking at cases of human rights abuses by the Nigerian Army has set yet another date, Wednesday, 8th November, 2017 for possible taking of evidence from the leader of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria, Sheikh Ibraheem Zakzaky.

This was communicated to the legal team verbally when the later made inquiries into possible date the case will come up seeing that initial dates earlier scheduled was fast ending without the case being listed for hearing.

The case earlier scheduled to be heard between 30th October and 3rd November could not be listed among the cases to be heard by the Panel because it didn't get a response to its request to the DSS seeking to allow Sheikh Zakzaky to make an appearance before the Panel. Similarly, the legal team of the IMN had requested to see their client, Sheikh Zakzaky before making any appearance, and that request too was not replied to by the DSS, the government agency contemptuously holding the Sheikh.

It will be recalled that the Panel shifted the taking of evidence from Sheikh Zakzaky and IMN from Kaduna to Abuja partly because it wanted to possibly have access to the Sheikh, insisting that his evidence would be taken in camera. The legal team however insisted that they will not make any appearance in camera except if the Sheikh directs otherwise. They therefore insisted that they must be allowed to debrief the Sheikh adequately and that has not been allowed. Already the IMN, human rights bodies and other activists have variously criticised secret hearing in the matter, describing it as a way to cover evidence against the military.

In another development, the Investigation Panel has cried bitterly over what they said was IMN description of it as "Kangaroo court" on social media. The complain was made following a vigorous campaign by the media forum of IMN, Free Zakzaky Campaign Committee and others particularly in opposition to secret hearing.

Doubts and concerns cast on the Panel
about its independence by the the IMN appears to have been right after all especially with the panel unable to be given immediate access to a victim who has submitted a memo to it. Furthermore, the selective nature of its hearing that appears to exclude journalists and rights groups makes it look as if the initial purpose of the Panel is merely launder the battered image of the Nigerian army.

The IMN had pointed out its concerns about the purpose and composition of the Presidential Panel through a letter sent to the President and published in paid advertisements. Other areas of concern expressed by IMN in that letter include the possible exclusion of those being detained who may not be allowed to make their own submission and the traditional recalcitrant attitude and lack of cooperation of the military in previous attempts at investigating their crimes, all of which are now playing out.

In yet another development, the Panel has indicated that it will serve the IMN notice of a petition written against it by one Muhammad Ali. We first reported this when he was spotted in Kaduna at the Panel's sitting then being urged by top Military officers to hurriedly present a memo.

Muhammad Ali and his phantom organization was the main consultant given the contract of demonizing the IMN, especially during the sitting of the Kaduna State Judicial Commission of Inquiry in Kaduna last year. It remains to be seen how that fits into looking into human rights abuses by the military.

President Buhari Indoctrinating Nigerian Army With #Wahhabism

I read, with bated breath, the reaction of the revered Grandmaster of Tijjaniyya sect, the indefatigable Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi, regarding the efforts of the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Saadu Abubakar, to systematically indoctrinate the Northern hemisphere to wahabism.

Indeed, the reaction of the revered Sheikh is not without justification if we took into consideration the fact that, Wahabism has become a corrosive cancer gnawing at the hearts of Muslims in particular, and humanity in general.

My military unimpeachable source, a man I both love and respect for his unflinching support for justice, for the oppressed, for Humanity, informed me of a diabolical systematic indoctrination into wahabism among Nigerian soldiers!

This heinous crime against Nigerian constitution, which categorically stipulated the necessity of secularism in the conduct of all aspects of governance in the nation, is being carried out with full support of the Generals, Air marshals and Admirals in the Nigerian military.

That a heretofore respectable institution such as the Nigerian military could be so targeted by wahabi kingpins, capo rigimes and capo de capi tuttis, is both astounding and frightening.

Naturally, the first indication we saw regarding the authenticity of the information my military source made me privy to, was the ruthless massacre carried out by the Nigerian Army against unarmed Shia civilians in Zaria, two years ago.

Naturally, several brothers and sisters who were saved by Allah alone on that fateful day, were astounded to hear the Army shouting anti Shia slogans in Hausa, the language predominantly spoken in Northern Nigeria.

Consequent upon, a lot of people wondered how could it be an Army, formed under a secular system could be so brazenly conducting a massacre against adherents of certain religious ideology while mouthing aloud slogans in support of Wahabism similar to the bleating shouted by ISIS terrorists?

The answer is not a farfetched one however, for by then, Wahabis systematically indoctrinated soldiers are several in the army, and they were the ones selected to perpetrate the ruthless massacre on behalf of their new found religious belief of die hard Najadi Wahabism.

Ironically, even the Zionists and the imperialists are privy to a visceral ruthlessness, callous bloodshed, murderous tendencies as well as envious streak etched in the marrow of Northern Muslim rabbles.

Expectedly, those who masterminded the massacre chose Northern indoctrinated wahabists from Northern extraction solely to carry out such massacre of unimaginable proportion.
Because, only them could be ruthless enough to hack civilians to death, slaughter toddlers and new borns, burn women and men alive, roast children and old women alive, impale women private parts and bossoms with sharp knives without any remorse.
Therefore, those who doubt the sincerity of the reaction of the revered Tijjaniyya Grandmaster, Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi, should discard their doubts.

Surely, the Sheikh knew about this diabolically planned systematic indoctrination of Muslims into Wahabism in the North along time a go.

Disgustedly, the sultan began this wahabist crusade by insisting that, Nigeria, situated far away from Saudi Arabian Najadi regime, completely on different axis of lunar rotation, must follow the dates of Saudi Najadi kingdom in conducting the annual fasting in the month of Ramadhan.
Why, some people demanded, would the sultan insist on Northern Nigerians discarding their counting in the month of Shaaban to follow that of the Najadi kingdom, but never insist the North to follow the Saudis in the rest of the Months?

Like all megalomanic kings, the sultan refused to proffer any religious explanation or otherwise, regarding his insistence on such a sensitive issue till date.

Presidential Probe Panel on Army, Nigerians and the Army

Of recent as I was setting out for a spiritual trip visit Aba Abdullah Hussain bin Ali (AS) several people were approaching me with messages of prayers seeking the intercession of the Imam of Martyrs. Some young boys were asking me to pray for them to become medical doctors when they grow up.
A boy who is hardly four years old was asked what he wanted to become when he grows up and he laughingly said “I want to become a soldier so that I can kill everybody“ and everybody laughed and he later said he wants to become a medical doctor too like his brother to save people’s life.
This is the general mentality of most Nigerians about the Nigerian army. They see them as some terror laden killers that can kill at will. They o the other hand see themselves as some sort of gods especially when they are dressed in uniform.
Following the bad human rights image of the army in the eyes of the world especially human rights organizations that have profiled a lot of bad records of the Army who have at various times killed innocent unarmed civilians unprovoked, the issue was already affecting the Nigerian government.
Some Senators in the US have challenged the sales of arms to the Nigerian government sighting the Zaria killings as an example of the Army using such arms to kill unarmed civilians.
This was becoming too much for the Nigerian regime led by President Muhammadu Buhari one of whose major agenda is the claimed fight against terrorism.
To prove its sincerity of purpose concerning its ability to keep the Army within the confines of its constitutionally accepted rules of engagement, the presidency set up an investigative panel to look into abuses and violation of rules of engagement perpetrated by the Army.
Naturally, it is expected that a few of those who the Army have molested in one way or the other who come before the panel to lay their complaints including the Islamic Movement in Nigeria.
Actually the impression people are having of the Army is that they are above the law and nothing can be done to them no matter how they err.
This negative impression is born out of how the army came to the present level since the inception of the country. Starting from colonialism to independence, from independence to military rule and later when the military dropped their ‘Kaki’ and wore ‘Agbada’ to continue to remain in power
One is tempted to ask what positive contributions the army has given to the country outside the coup after coup, under-development and suppression of the public. They successfully slowed down the growth of the nation into a democratic giant in Africa. They ruled people by dictatorship and kept constitution and human rights aside. This has grossly affected the impression of the army on Nigerians.
Ordinarily Nigerians are supposed to see the army as a gallant body that protects the territorial integrity of the nation who they work hard to maintain through the taxes they pay to the government. But because of the impression they have imposed on the people they are seen as some wicked dictators that can kill them at will.
This is because the same colonial mentality with which the army was built and the same mentality with which it had survived since independence, no one would dare go the way of the army even if he has to give up his rights and dignity. This is simply because both the army and the public believe that those in uniform are above the law.
The ugliest part of it is that the army is more of the property of the Commander-in-Chief and he has the right to order them to kill anybody he doesn’t like at any time he wishes. A simple reference is that of the recent clampdown on the IMN in which women, children, infants were killed, some burned or alive and hundreds simply buried in mass graves and that is all as they see. Why? Because it is the army and its Commander-in-Chief that want them dead.
Everyone is aware of the mass murder of innocent civilians and no one dares says why because it was done by the Army.
They could molest anyone on the streets, beat him/her and even strip him/her naked simply because he/she is what the army calls ‘bloody civilian’. In fact even the police that Nigerians are still yet to believe that they are friends of the public are not safe from the army brutality.
Now these are some of the things the presidential panel is leaving out of its investigations and is concentrating more on complaints laid by people and groups. The army was set on a particular platform under a particular system that accepts the monster looking nature of the Army. For a long as that system under which the army is founded, which is also nurtured by colonial mentality, continues to exist, the negative impression about the army will continue to exist. This is because it is the system that accepts the army in its monster like nature. We need a different system that has a different impression about the army.
The ugly Nigerian system has a wrong impression of the army. The system, with its wrong and inhuman concepts provides for the people to be suppressed and molested into fearing the Army and seeing them as some sorts of zombies. Whereas the right thing to do should be that the people love, revere and respect the army for being the gallant men that are sacrificing to protect their territorial integrity.
In other words, the concept of the army the panel is investigating is based on what the system makes it to be like. Hence whatever the army does is a resultant of what that concept has made of it. That is to say the system provides for it to become the hunting dogs of those in power and kill their opponents for them under any pretext at all.
For instance, Sheikh Ibraheem Zakzaky is a victim of Nigerian Army brutality. They shot him several times, shot his wife several times all at close ranges. Killed three of their sons (innocent minors), burned his elder sister and nephew alive, burned down his residence, abused his mother’s tomb and demolished his Islamic Center without any provocation whatsoever.
For the simple fact that the monstrous acts of crimes against humanity were all in the interest of the Commander-in-Chief of the Army, it is now Sheikh Zakzaky the victim of the army atrocity that is being denied the right to be heard in public by the panel. The simple reason for this is to protect the interest of the suppressive army while the fundamental human right of the revered Sheikh is officially denied.
It is clear that the objective of the president is to kill Sheikh Zakzaky, disperse his followers, and ban the Movement all to satisfy some interests, in this case religion and politics. In some cases it could be tribal or sectional and so on and so on.
Hence, traditionally, nothing would follow the outcome of the panel because that is what the system provides for.
Even the Judicial Commission of Inquiry (JCI) indicted the army for disregarding its rules of engagement in its final report but nothing followed afterwards and they were not even mentioned in the whitepaper prepared by the state governor Nasir El-Rufai.
The aim and objective of setting up the presidential panel could be a move to cleanse the army of all its atrocities and ugly human rights records, by producing a report that will pint it into an Angel and probably even deny the army atrocities as false accusations just to achieve some political goals.
I don’t have any reason to hate the army should in case anybody thinks I do but I have every reason to hate the wrongdoings of the army and its negative concepts and public impression. Nigerians must rise against the misdoings and put the army where it constitutionally belongs.

Falana to Buhari: Impunity in your govt, worst in history

Human rights activist and Lagos-based lawyer, Mr. Femi Falana, has accused the President Muhammadu Buhari administration of being the worst in terms of flouting court orders and violation of human rights.

He made the accusation on Wednesday while addressing a gathering at the fourth (4th) and final edition of the Policy Monitoring Dialogue Series by Savannah Centre for Diplomacy, Democracy and Development (SCDDD).

He cited the continued detention of former National Security Adviser, Sambo Dasuki and leader of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria Sheik Ibrahim El-Zakzakky and his wife, as two different cases in point.

His words: “Many judgments have been given but ignored by the government, particularly the Buhari regime. It simply ignores the court. It is the worst in history.

“Dasuki was arrested and granted bail. As soon as he was being taken out of Kuje prison, he was rearrested. The ECOWAS court awarded N15 million to Dasuki for what he went through but they have failed to comply.”

Falana said further in the case of the detention of El-Zakzakky: “347+ people were killed in Zaria. That’s almost the worst case of massacre in Nigerian history. El-Zakzakky and his wife have been in prison since December 2015 as a result. ZakZaky and his wife were not at the scene when people blocked the Chief of Army Staff’s car, but the army went to his house at night and killed three of his children in his presence and took him and his wife away.

“The man has lost his right eye and he is about losing the other one. The bullet in his wife’s body has not been removed since December 2015. All pleas to the government for them to get proper treatment fell on deaf ears. We didn’t go through this under military dictatorship. These guys don’t bother. To them, who are you?”

Falana said Nigeria was different from the situation in a country like Ghana where the rule of law, according to him, was observed.

The Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN) has completed all necessary arrangements for the commencement of the annual #ArbaeenTrekNigeria �� 2017.

This year's event will kick off in the next few days in the zones as is the usual practice. This is coming on the back heel of a leaked security report suggesting that the murderous Nigerian authorities plan to sabotage the trek once again using various intimidating ways including spates of arbitrary arrests and the perennial use of violence.

For two successive years, the trek was violently attacked along the Kano axis, first by detonating a bomb in 2015 and in 2016, using a joint police and military force to open fire resulting in the deaths of scores of IMN members. It is on record that the Kano state governor, Ganduje was on tape claiming responsibility for the later attack while addressing some Wahabi Sunni clerics months later.

Notwithstanding the evil machinations of the government in stalling the otherwise peaceful religious march, the Islamic Movement has gone ahead with preparations for the solemn trek. In a statement earlier, the Islamic Movement vowed to go ahead with the trek irrespective of what the Buhari administration plans to do to stop it.

Tweets issued later by the #FreeZakzaky handle sounded the same defiant tones, including a video tweet of its incarcerated leader, Sheikh Ibraheem Zakzaky, talking about the Arbaeen trek, likening the critics and criticisms of the religious event in Nigeria as "dogs howling." The Sheikh said such paid dogs could keep on howling and keep on being frustrated. He insisted that the #ArbaeenTrekNigeria will continue to be seen.

Consequently, the IMN has said that there is no going back, and has urged adherents to watch out for details of this year's trek to be issued soon. It also said that people could contact #IMN zonal trek coordinators for logistics.

*Spurious Police attacks on Free Zakzaky protests in Kaduna and Sokoto are condemnable*

Last Sunday (22/10/17), peaceful Free Zakzaky processions were held in major towns and cities across Northern states calling on the Buhari administration to comply with the nearly one-year old federal high court ruling on the release of Sheikh Ibraheem Zakzaky from illegal detention. Processions ended peacefully except in Kaduna and Sokoto where armed policemen attacked the peaceful marches.

In Kaduna metropolis, a contingent of well armed policemen was drafted to the scene of the peaceful protest along the busy Ahmadu Bello way and opened fire on the unarmed protesters using live bullets and teargas. Luckily, there was no loss of life reported but dozens sustained injuries of varying degrees of severity.

The same scenario was played out in Sokoto, where the security men arrived after the peaceful protest has ended and participants were already leaving the scene of termination of the procession. Nevertheless, the policemen were bent on attacking. They proceeded to the Centre of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria, carted away motorcycles left behind by some of the protesters and also made some arrests.

Unfortunately, Buhari’s government has escalated its hostility towards the Islamic Movement since the Zaria genocide of December, 2015. It is as if under PMB-led administration, the lives of Shi’a Muslims in Nigeria has no value. We have seen the systematic state-backed  persecution and extermination of the Shi’a adherents in Nigeria. Clearly, the climate that has permitted mob violence against Shi’a Muslims as noticed recently in some quarters of Nigeria is directly traceable to the implicit and explicit anti-Shi’a posture of the Buhari administration, and that of Kaduna and Sokoto state governments as well.

The recent dispositions of Sokoto state government suggests that it is bent on cheaply buying  into the violent anti-shia sentiments with a commitment to continue unnecessary bloodletting of innocent Shia minority citizens. There appears to be a return to this dangerous trend, perpetrated by the discredited previous administration. Once again, the security agencies are being alerted while thugs are mobilized and empowered to unleash violence on the Shiites.  

We strongly condemn the needless disruptions of Shi’a processions by the military and the police anywhere in the country. It is the very definition of injustice and unfairness, and breeches our rights. If the government does not want us to carryout more Free Zakzaky protests, they must immediately and unconditionally release our leader from unconstitutional and unlawful detention.

In another development, we reliably learnt through some confirmed security reports that the government plans to carryout targeted arrest of some prominent members of IMN in the days leading to the eve of the forthcoming  Annual Arba’een symbolic trek. We remain unperturbed and unshaken in our resolve to exercise our constitutional rights to practice our religion. Our Arba’een Trek is peaceful as it has always been. Nobody is being forced to join and it is a religious obligation re-enacting the untold suffering forced upon the household of the holy Prophet of Islam. It is a solemn religious event that can be seen enacted by Shi'a adherents worldwide. It will not be different in Nigeria.
