PoliticsNigeria Rated " VERY HIGH RISK" For Social Unrest In 2014 by THE ECONOMIST by electronic(op):
Nigeria Rated "HIGH RISK" for Social Unrest in 2014 cry

The Middle East and North Africa (MENA), southern Europe, the Balkans and the former Soviet countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) are well represented in the high-risk categories: 12 out of 18 MENA states, six of the seven Balkan countries, eight out of the 12 CIS states, five out of six southern European ones. More than 40% of the countries in eastern Europe are in the high-risk categories. This region was hit hard by the financial crisis and also has many of the underlying characteristics associated with unrest. Unsurprisingly, many high-risk countries are in sub-Saharan Africa. But there are also some in Latin America and Asia—including the world’s largest and most successful emerging market, China, where the authorities are perennially nervous about the risk of mass protests.

With the state of events being observed in the country presently, it would be a total miracle it 2014 is peaceful......

bigfrancis21: Your 4.0 CGPA(which will fall somewhere between 3.4/4.0 to 3.50/4.0) coupled with a strong GRE score(somewhere around 310), strong letters of recommendation, and an excellent SOP could get you an assistantship in average schools in the US. Top-notch schools will require outstanding and stellar records from you. cool

imperiouxx: Same you're thinking

IMPERIOUS = domineering, authoritarian, high-handed, commanding, imperial..... whatever.

lolz... That's my online RPG (role playing games) username.

Sure you will be slightly morething than that. Your CGPA is good, even nice for the ivy league schools. If you're considering PhD, the RA or TA is certain without objection. But for MS, you will be given GA and your graduate coordinator will determine what role is given to you. Instructor of record (TA) is usually given to those in their second semester (they have used to the American teaching ethics). You might be given an assistant instructor of record role (till you know the their teaching ethics and your English is understood by Americans) or to assistant in grading or to help in preparing the labs.

However, CGPA is not the only criteria that gets one graduate assistantship, your GRE score, SOP and in some case your reference letters altogether work the assistantship.

Best of luck!
I feel ur RPG!! grin
Thanks for the advice bro!! I can get some good RECOS, SOP, GRE (hard work 4 High scores though)

@imperiouxx!!

(still!! can't decipher the meaning of ur username grin ).lol....

Well Since you have real time experience cool, do you think a Gp of 4/5 . stands a chance for RA/TA (Msc or PHD).....I studied Elect/Elect.
I know the whole system is complex and competitive ! But your answer would be more practical.

I'm not applying to those IVY Leagues anyway. I don't have that kind of money to Gamble!!

I know of WES though, but I don't know If my GP wld put me in the 3.5/4. range.
I have to try and publish angry to boost my chances, or atleast submit a paper to some online journal..
Jobs/VacanciesRe: Are Engineers The Most Unemployed Graduates In This Country by electronic(m): 6:36pm On Oct 12, 2013
Well let me come in as an experienced Engrn (2.1 ELECT/ELECT) applicant ...lol

Interms of numbers, engineers in the labour market are obviously fewer! Compared to the ARTs . Try attending an aptitude Test for The banking Sector shocked shocked .U go see people!
However getting jobs that suite our discipline is a major setback. Most engineering coys would seek for thousands, then employ just Ten?...crazy!!!
So engineers have to settle for none engineering jobs (notime).. Unfortunately most Engineering grads are die Hards so they decide to stay at home or acquire some skill (capital intensive though). Some just leave the country. Three of my Guys just WAKA!!! Like joke cry undecided
TravelRe: General U.s.a (student) Visa Enquiries-part4 by electronic(m): 9:25am On Oct 11, 2013
bigfrancis21: Success, bro. Your score isn't too bad, per se. If getting an assistantship is your greatest need, you might want to apply to less competitive schools. That way you stand a better chance of landing an admission + graduate assistantship.

Must it be a TA? How about RA? To land a research assistantship, you'll need to contact professors with similar research interests with you. Its a tactical game. Don't express your intent to be an RA in your first email or call to him. Many profs regard that as standoffish and that you're only interested in the financial benefits of it. Start first by talking about how you read several of his research works, how you liked it and how you can help him improve on some areas of it which you think needs a little touch up. Ehen! That shows a serious student, not some financial benefit hooker.grin He'll definitely reply you, appreciating your appraisals and asking you further questions concerning his research papers.
Of course, you'll need to do your own homework by downloading his research papers and reading them thoroughly to get acquainted with them. If there's space on his team, he'll definitely employ you.

If you wish to rewrite the GRE, I wish you utmost success. Cheers.
see racket .Nah!!!
I am definitely applying this model!
you the man!!
