He escaped, went to Paris and raised an army. After some initial victories, they defeated him again, forced him this time to Helena. He tried severally and couldnt escape from Helena. They let him be and even allowed him start his govt there without interfering. WHY DID THEY ALLOW HIM?? Because killing or capturing him would be adding insult to injury for the french. Napoleon was a french icon and their only objective was to remove him from power. Pls read up his history, i hate repeating myself.

2. Thats what they said in Sri Lanka a few years ago. The Sri Lankan govt forces cornered the leader of Tamil rebels in their last territory, killed him and claimed he was killed in a shoot-out. Nobody, i repeat nobody challenged their claim because they was no contrary evidence. The world moved on. Napoleon never fled and he never did an Ojukwu. After his army was defeated - he retreated back to Paris, with his men.

Anyway, if you can read - read this:

After his defeat at the Battle of Leipzig in October 1813, Napoleon retreated to Paris where (due to a lack of support from his military marshals) he was forced to renounce his throne in April 1814. The European powers exiled him to the island of Elba in the Mediterranean. Within eleven months, however, Napoleon was back on the European continent at the head of a hastily-raised army intent on restoring Napoleon to the throne of France. Napoleon's defeat came in June 1815 at the Battle of Waterloo.

This time, the European powers were not going to take any chances on Napoleon's possible return. They exiled him to the island of St. Helena - a barren, wind-swept rock located in the South Atlantic Ocean.
