Politics / Re: If You’re The President Of Nigeria, How Will You Tackle Corruption? by ElekeNtioba: 3:54pm On May 09, 2015 |
Borrussia: dats why GEJ said "stealing is not corruption". A petty thief steals out of desperation or as a last resort to feed himself or family while a politician embezzles public funds simply out of greed. They are not in the same category. Petty thieves are only killed (according to the law) if they engage in "armed robbery". I dont see hw a politician can buy himself out of court decision. Capital punishment is the only way if we want to be serious abt tackling corruption. Its too endemic in our society. 3 Likes |

cap28: why d high bp?? The guy has very little emotional connection to Nigeria. Infact, the only link is dat his parents are from Nigeria. Would he deny the country that made him what he is today just to please u?? COuld Nigeria have given him d opportunities Britain gave to him. Lets be realistic. Chiwetel if anything has promoted his Igbo heritage wherever he has d chance. He speaks fluent Igbo if u must know. I've watched a video of his family celebrating an occasion all wearing igbo traditional attire. I think d best way to describe him is "British of Igbo heritage". Nigeria is just a geographical expression hollywood is 1000 times bigger dan d British film industry and many white british stars have relocated to America to pursue roles. So ur assertion is pointless. 9 Likes 1 Share |

SirShymexx: I'm wondering if you are really worth my while. I opened up a debate with you cos i tot u sounded reasonable amongst all ur folks on this thread but honestly, you are no longer making sense. U ar just bent on ur assertions regardless of how ludicrous u sound. Let me try again: 1. It's obvious u dont have a good account of Napoleon history, particularly the wars that led to his downfall. The allies never attempted to capture or kill him. Twice they defeated him and twice they forced him to exile on each occasion. They could have finished him off if they wanted to. They forced him to Elba the first time and blockaded it. He escaped, went to Paris and raised an army. After some initial victories, they defeated him again, forced him this time to Helena. He tried severally and couldnt escape from Helena. They let him be and even allowed him start his govt there without interfering. WHY DID THEY ALLOW HIM?? Because killing or capturing him would be adding insult to injury for the french. Napoleon was a french icon and their only objective was to remove him from power. Pls read up his history, i hate repeating myself. 2. Thats what they said in Sri Lanka a few years ago. The Sri Lankan govt forces cornered the leader of Tamil rebels in their last territory, killed him and claimed he was killed in a shoot-out. Nobody, i repeat nobody challenged their claim because they was no contrary evidence. The world moved on. Angolan govt forces did same too when they launched an operation that led to the killing of rebel leader Savimbi. Guess what, after a few eyebrows raised abt it, everybody moved on. The fact u keep repeating this assertion makes me believe u must be very naive. Even after i told u of biafran officers killed days AFTER....i repeat...AFTER the surrender...smh 3. Again its obvious u know ntin abt history. You are only confusing urself lumping events together. After Germany defeated and occupied France, Petain signed an armistice with the Germans. Gaulle who had ALREADY gone into exile denounced the agreement and insisted dat d french should continue resisting and thats why they sentenced him to death in ABSENTIA. He went on an exile first to Britain where he formed a parallel govt made up of members of d french resistance. He later moved to Algeria (then a french colony) after falling out with Churchill. yes, he later raised an army to take back France with considerable support from the allies. I ASK YOU AGAIN....did Gaulle going into exile...make him a coward or do u prefer he surrendered to the Germans to be made a public spectacle..?? 4. I dont understand ur analogy abt the tubman. i was ASKING YOU if Washington and other yankee rebel leaders were cowards for making use of safe houses to protect themselves from the more powerful Britons. The only reason Zik supported Biafra initially was just cos of massive Igbo support for Biafra. Igbos were his pple and u dont turn ur back on ur pple. Even during the war he kept a respectable distance from Ojukwu's govt and the way Ojukwu ran his govt also didnt help matters. Even today no Igbo begrudges him, cos we understand what it felt to watch d country u helped found torn apart. If Zik was an opportunist, i wonder what ur Awolowo would be called... After all said and done, Here are the facts: Diya is a coward Ojukwu is more courageous than all ur military officers combined 3 Likes 2 Shares |

SirShymexx: napoleon fought like a warrior because he they allowed him to stay alive after defeating him twice. Lol...what proof do u want dat northerner could have killed him. Its common sense. Do u expect him to wait and find out what what will happen to him....smh ur powerful britons could do ntin to stop d 1966 progrom, they did ntin to stop d starvation policy against Biafra which was termed genocidal by some western analysts. They couldnt stop nigerian soldiers from comitting so many war crimes. And u expect Ojukwu to put his fate in their hands....smh Nigerian soldiers were killing biafran senior officers days AFTER Biafra's surrender. What saved Effiong was cos he's d one to sign off on surrender docs. The other officers particularly Igbos among them were either killed or escaped. Charles de Gaulle fled when d Germans defeated and occupied France in WW2. He formed and led the govt in exile. He only returned to France when d allies recaptured it from d germans. By ur reasoning he should have fought to death or surrendered in the first place...right?? Washington and other founding fathers of America moved from one safe house to another to avoid capture by the more powerful Royalists. I ask again does that make them cowrds...? What ur definition of a coward. The man who stands up for his pple and took precautions to preserve his life like Washington, Gaulle, Ojukwu OR the general who wept like a kid cos he was afraid of his life....after wilfully and knowingly plotting a coup...Jeez! The more u argue the more i see d same 'diya trait' in you...give it up and move on.....no shame in being who u are 10 Likes 2 Shares |

SirShymexx: i was trying to tell u d reason d allies didnt capture or kill napoleoen was out of respect. They could have finished him off if they wanted but they didnt. They forced him to Elba and left him there, he escaped and started another war. They defeated him d second time and forced him to Helena. They even allowed him to setup his govt there. They treated him with respect cos of his status to d french pple. I doubt Ojukwu would have gotten same treatment from blood-thirsty northerners. Go and search for the image of Nzeogwu and see what they did to him when he was captured. Thats why all senior biafran military officers had to get Ojukwu out of d country even at the risk of their own lives. If he had been a coward like u say, they wont have treated him with respect years after. Even azikiwe who changed sides repeatedly during d war didnt command such respect. Many of them are still alive; Madiebo, Achuzia, Nwobosi etc Show me that war-time general that surrendered to the enemy when he was sure they will kill him. Pls show me when and where it happened in history. I dont know where u get ur tales, Madiebo never had anything bt respect for Ojukwu. Read his piece after Ojukwu's death. Ojukwu took precautions (he had many enemies even inside Biafra)...i dont see hw dat makes him coward. George Washington, Charles de Gualle (who went into exile at some point) all took precautions to preserve their life from more powerful enemies. I guess they are cowards too..huh?? Diya is bloody coward. Displaying the cowardly trait in his pple. Calling Ojukwu a coward doesnt change dat fact. I've carefully omitted Ogundipe all this while. If I get started on him, u'll have tears of shame streaming from ur eyes.... 6 Likes |

SirShymexx: no need lying thru ur teeth... Napoleon was never captured, he was roundly defeated and FORCED into an exile TWICE. The only reason the allies didnt want to go all the way, cos they were civilized and respected his status as 'emperor' of france. Ojukwu on the other hand would have been killed if they captured him. Onwuategwu another conspirator during d 1966 coup ( he worked with Nzeogwu) personally escorted Ojukwu to the plane. He was killed by Nigerian soldiers days AFTER d surrender of Biafra. I read Madiebo book years back. His acct was more detailed because he he was d commander of d biafran army. He stated it as he saw it. Right from the onset of d war, there was a kill order from Nigeria against Ojukwu. They felt the war would end faster with him gone. There was even an attempted poisoning of his food. He had to start eating only foods prepared by catholic nuns. So what...during the world war, hitler had a kill order on him from the allies. He had many bunkers he used dring the allied bombardment of germany. Does taking precautions make him a coward...smh keep turning accts upside down to justify ur pple's cowardice. 6 Likes 1 Share |
