The parents should sue their asses off. Oh I wish this was a western country, they will be able to pay for their actions but here the parents will have to accept it as an act from God after crying their eyes out and the negligence of these stupid people will not be brought to book.
The death of the kids is unfortunate and a huge loss to their parents but this reaction is just sentimental.

If it was a western country like you referred to, a proper autopsy will be done before any verdict is reached.

But in this case, the relatives of the casualties are not agreeing to an autopsy.

If there is no autopsy which indicts the drug, there is no case. Evidence always wins over speculations.
Health › Re: 2 Pupils Die In Ogun After Taking Deworming Drugs by eleojo23: 1:12pm On Nov 19, 2020
The deaths were very likely not caused by the deworming drug.

Recording 2 casualties out of over 200 pupils who received the drug is not convincing enough to say the drug was the cause. Deworming medications are well-tolerated by both children and adults.

Moreso, the two children who died lived in the same compound. The plausible explanation is that they were both exposed to an infectious pathogen days or hours before that day whose onset of signs/symptoms coincided with the day they took the deworming drug.

The only way to know what happened for sure is through an autopsy but as usual, people are already getting sentimental about the matter.

Let's pray it's not cholera as suspected because if it is, occupants of that vicinity are in danger.

To all gurus in the house , I throway salute. I have a 150 watt solar panel a pwm CC, a 40AH battery,I just ordered for the pulse repair charger, my question is that can the battery be charging by the solar panel and same time the pulse repair Charger connected too. Hope is not going to be double charging ooo. I intend to upgrade my battery later. Thank you all

There should be no problem since the pulse charger is intelligent. It should be able to detect the state of charge of the battery and adjust the current accordingly.
I have plugged a standalone smart charger to a 100ah battery while it was hooked up to solar (the battery was already full from solar charging). The smart charger detected the battery's state of charge and entered float immediately.

It only started charging after I applied high load on the battery briefly to discharge it to about 90% full. And even when it started charging, it tapered the current down within 5 minutes from 6amps to about 3amps and it kept reducing it with time. (Note: 6amps is the max rating for the charger I used)

The solar charge controller doesn't display the amps supplied but I could tell that it also adjusted the current it was supplying because the battery voltage increased at the normal rate.

So you should be fine if the solar controller and pulse charger are working well.

Just don't hook up a pulse charger with high amp on your 40ah battery because batteries have maximum amps recommended for charging.
For instance, running 20amps through a 40ah battery even for some minutes may be bad for the battery.

Education › Re: Share Your Experiences Being Flogged in Secondary School by eleojo23: 1:25pm On Nov 13, 2020
I was hardly flogged during secondary school, in fact most times when they flogged noise makers, I was spared because teachers know I hardly make noise.

But one day in, luck was not on my side. I was flogged 12 straight stokes in front of the class for something that someone else did. The teacher was not even one of my teachers, he taught senior secondary school students while I was a junior so he didn't know me well.

That is the only flogging experience I will never forget.

Other floggings were as a result of group punishments arising from the nuisance caused by beck-benchers because they just won't stop making noise. Once noise is emanating from one class, the teacher in the next classroom will just swoop in and flog everybody.
Sometimes when noise was high and I sensed danger, I will just sneak out to go and 'pee'. I will be like: shebi you people will not keep quiet, I cannot come and allow myself to be flogged because of you people.
And true to my fears, when I return from my fake peeing, I see everyone rubbing their palms in agony from the quick flogging they just received grin

Afripower is a rugged inverter sir. I have used their 1.7kva inverters for several installations.
Takes load like a champ.

For Eastman, I have no idea.
That's good to hear. I'm eyeing that Afripower 24v 1.7kva. The only major load it will carry is a small fridge rated 100w. Going by your review, it should handle it without any issues. I believe the compressor surge power is still within the inverter's capacity.

Mileage varies immensely with sealed batteries as they're less tolerant of overcharging.

I've used both on request. Both work wonderfully for streetlights. Under typical home (ab)use, do not expect more than 18 months deep discharge lifespan. They live 24 months and more but you're unlikely to be disappointed if you stick with 18 months
Thanks alot

I've only heard fairly about Eastmann before as someone marketed their products to me early last year, but I've neither had any experience with using it nor known anyone who does.

In the flier I was given, Eastmann has a wide range of solar products ranging from SLA, FLA batteries, inverters and solar panels.

I think it's only inverter of Afripower that I've come across before.
Okay, thanks.

Morning guys, please I need answers to these questions

1. What can you say about Afripower and Eastman inverters as regards durability and idle power consumption?

2. Also how good are NXT index batteries? (lifespan following at most 50% DOD) Compare it with Quanta batteries.
Does anyone have any experience with these batteries/inverters?

Goodevening everyone.

I just might need some assistance here please.

I have a system of (Modified Sine wave Inverter) 24v 2.4kva running for only a few days and counting.

Today I realised a strange occurrence, let's say just one for now. For sometime now I have been on a particular FM radio station and only this afternoon I tried to tune to another then realised all my radio stations were gone. Just coincidentally as grid went off, I realised my stations returned inbetween and went dead again on restoration of power (grid went off only a few min).

Went to the inverter and unplugged from grid to feed from batteries and my radio stations returned, please any idea/experience/solution to this?

Just for the info too, I use an external automatic charger of 12Amp to support my inverter of 15amp to 20amp with both connected to grid then battery for a faster charge. I also realised that with the inverter connected to grid and the fm tuned to a known station, the sound system gives some noise without audio then with the charger connected to grid too the sound system gives even more noise still without audio. With both charger and inverter disconnected from grid, sound system works as expected.

I have gone through the link below with no solution :

https://www.solar-electric.com/learning-center/reducing-electromagnetic-interference-pv-systems.html/
It's definitely interference from the inverter and charger. I think your inverter being modified sine wave is also a big factor. I experienced this with only my external charger, my inverter is pure sine wave.

Is the inverter and external charger close to your TV? If yes, try relocating them far from the TV and sound system, that should reduce the interference.

Debroslink:
How did you scan for gotv channels on this TV?
If your TV is a digital TV (DTV) with DVB-T2/C/S feature, you will be able to catch these channels when you connect a simple antenna or Satellite dish to the RF-in port. Most low end Dtvs have only Dvb-T2 which is only 2nd gen. terrestial but high end Dtvs have Dvb-T2 and S which is satellite in addition to terrestial.

It searches for terrestial digital channels available in your area. In Nigeria, Gotv and Startimes channels are terrestial so your DTV with Dvb-T2 will catch them.
But unfortunately, 98% of the channels are scrambled so you need a CA module to decrypt them. I am still trying to find where to get a CA module in Nigeria.

Does DOD mean depth of discharge? How do you measure that?
There is a chart for that using the voltage value.

For a 12volt system, 50% DOD is around 12.1 or 12.0 (Multiply the figure by 2 or 4 if it's a 24v or 48v system respectively.)

So once it gets to that voltage, you should stop using the battery until it's recharged. Some programmable inverters automatically cut off load at this voltage if set as such.

GeorgeD1:
bro,
firstly, we all know that c rating (as regards battery capacity) is the safest maximum continuous discharge rate the battery
will support.
a carefully calibrated load is applied until the voltage gradually depletes to 1.75v/cell (lead acid) or 1.0v/cell (nicd/nimh)
and 3.0v/cell (for li-ion}
having said that, while i wouldn't want to pick holes in trojan's claims, i do understand that battery c ratings and capacity
are not cast in stone.
for instance take the case of two batteries with 200ah c10 and 200ah c20 respectively. the first battery with a capacity and
rating of 200ah c10 may turn out to be actually 250ah when discharged at c20 depending on battery chemistry and quality
of materials used to produce it while at c100 it could go higher to 320ah in capacity as an example.
i do see most of our sellers here bandying all sorts of batteries for sale. they put out a lot of info but leave out the most
relevant which is the c rating of the battery. i guess they are either ignorant themselves or perhaps they are feeding fat on
the ignorance of potential customers. if i buy a c100 rated 200ah battery unknowingly thinking it is c20, i'm invariably
buying a 170ah battery.
no wonder many peeps here keep complaining of dead battery after just a few months of usage.
@the bold
Did you really mean C100 or you meant to type C10?

Multichoice will very unlikely offer you a CI card cos it may eventually backfire on 'em. It is an easy way to bypass their subscription for those that know their ways.

You can get it from those guys that install subscription TVs like Startimes and DSTV. They will also help you set it up including the dish direction placement and every other stuff about it.
Okay, I'll explore this option. Thanks.

Got it for 130k at a walk in shop. Although I later saw it on Konga and Jumia dem for 107k or thereabout, but I think I'm more comfortable with the walk in shop in case item gives issue during warranty period. Besides it has been my go to store for appliances.

Another downside is that it has no CI card, as much as I would love it to have that.
How and where can one get a CI card (CAM) in Nigeria? I'm really interested. Multichoice doesn't seem to have it according to info from their cc rep.
