I am an industrial chemist, but this is what I do on Saturdays/Sundays, i haven'nt focused on track since University. Presently, I run 18/20 seconds in 100m which I know isn't good enough to beat bolt. But after watching Bolt clinched 3 gold medals in London totaling 6 gold medals in two Olympics appearance, I believe if i dedicate my time for track, then I can outrun bolt, under certain conditions.

I feel like if I would have kept training for track, I’d have a chance, but I work and he runs track, so it’s totally different. I think I could still probably beat him in 2016 if i am determined. If I actually trained for the distance he trained for, I think I’d have a chance.

No big deal, same stories everyday. He gets charged, goes to court, he gets bail instantly, because his lawyersssssssssssssssss already known the bail conditions for the crime he committed, therefore they will arrange for the sureties who appears in court same day. They signs all the necessary papers, so he doesn't smell the prison. After which Farouk will go to Transcorp Hilton with two sweet Indian girls to enjoy our CRUDE OIL MONEY. The rest na story. Education / Re: Physics Or Statistics by elimokhai(m): 6:17pm On Aug 10, 2012
Physics is cool if you're ready to dedicate the next four years studying, as you must avoid "carry overs" due to the course outlines. having too many carry over when you don't actually have spaces for them in another session will surely lead to extension (extra year) peculiar to physics and chemistry department. I gained admission to study medicine in 2000, unfortunately in my 100L, i failed CHM112 out of the 21 courses offered for both first and second semester. couldn't proceed to 200L. had an option to either repeat 100L or proceed to 200L in the faculty of natural science, i chose to proceed, was therefore offered chemistry instead of biochemistry which i applied for. I had no option since i wanted to proceed to 200L, a decision I have never regret.

Physicists are scientists who investigate motion and gravity, the behavior of gases, the structure and behavior of matter, the generation and transfer of energy, and the interaction between matter and energy. They identify basic forces and laws of nature. Theoretical physicists investigate these areas without thought to practical application, concerning themselves with concepts such as the nature of time and the origin of the universe.

If you can make good grades in Physics. The sky will be your limit. I don't consider a statistician a scientist. Just my own view.

Wish you success

After watching the Men's 200M heat, I just concluded that Usain Bolt is chasing history just has his competitors continues to chase him including our own Nigerian born Akwu. He steamed around the bend of the Olympic stadium, shutting down with 70m around, jogging to the line, looking around at the crowd and his rivals in the process as he cruises into the 200M semi-finals. What are your thought?

afam4eva: The Nigerian team will come fighting like a wounded lion. I pity for Argentina. You don't play a team that was humilated by the US without getting stained. I see the Nigerian team qualifying from this group and meeting the US in the final where they will go on a revenge mission and beat the US and be crowned the Olympic basketball champions.

Your ignorance is forgiven. Apparently you have not watched any of the game, not even sure you know about the game "Basketball" else you would have thrown sentiment into the lagoon and face the fact. Defeat USA? Not now, maybe never. Those guys eat, smoke, drink basketball. Kobe Bryant made this statement "if we fail to win the gold in London, i'll change my nationality"

Business / Bank Driver Arrested With 19 ATM Cards, N652,000 by elimokhai(m): 11:12am On Jul 31, 2012
The Lagos State Police Command has arrested Dare Oladujoye, a driver with Zenith Bank, for allegedly being in possession of 19 Guaranty Trust Bank ATM cards and the sum of N652, 000.

PUNCH Metro learnt that the suspect was using the cards to withdraw money from an ATM at Ogba branch of GTB when a security guard raised the alarm.

The Commissioner of Police for the state police command, Mr. Umar Manko, said as of the time of his arrest, the suspect had withdrawn N652, 000 from the ATM.

Manko said, “On July 26, 2012, around 8:30pm, there was a distress call that there was commotion at GTB, Ogba branch. On getting there, the suspect was seen with 19 ATM cards.

“He is an employee of Zenith Bank and we wondered what he was doing with the 19 cards. He was arrested and as of the time of his arrest, he had cashed N652, 000. The matter is under investigation.”

The suspect however denied stealing the ATM cards. He said whenever he lent people money, he would collect their ATM cards as collateral and return them after payment.

He said, “I usually loan people money and I’ve been doing it for over a year. Whenever I loan people money, I will collect their ATM cards and their Personal Identification Numbers. When they repay me, I return their cards to them.

“However, if they don’t pay me back in cash, I go to withdraw money from their accounts through the ATM.”

When quizzed on where he got the money which he lent people, he said he was into various kinds of businesses.

He also said he had friends in the banking sector who helped him with funds.

He said, “I am a very hard working person. I joined Zenith Bank as a driver over three years ago and in less than a year, I bought a tricycle which I leased to another driver that gives me returns on a regular basis.

“The following year, I bought two tricycles bringing the total number to three. I make N150,000 monthly from the tricycles and N60,000 from my salary. I also get credit facilities through my connections in the banking sector.

“On the day I was arrested, I went to withdraw money on Thursday night with some of the cards when a security guard raised the alarm. I did not steal those cards. I know the owners of the cards and I have their numbers on my phone.”

Meanwhile, the command has warned members of the public to be very careful when buying vehicles so as not to buy stolen ones.

The warning became imperative following the arrest of two mechanics who allegedly received six stolen vehicles and even sold some to members of the public.

Manko said buyers could sense stolen vehicles by their cheap prices.

It was learnt that on July 7, 2012, Sunday Okoduwa came with a report that his car was stolen on Victoria Island.

Policemen later traced the car to a workshop in Agidingbi and arrested a man identified simply as Abdusalam, who in turn claimed that he bought it from one Idowu Adegboyega.

PUNCH Metro learnt that when Adegboyega was arrested and could not give a satisfactory explanation, his house was searched and some documents were found which led to the recovery of six other vehicles.

A police source said, “When we searched the suspect’s house, some documents were recovered which led to the recovery of six other vehicles.

“All the vehicles were registered in the name of one Oti Olusekola Jacob, who is believed to belong to the gang of armed robbers in Lagos.”

In a related development, the police have arrested 12 armed robbery suspects.

Police authorities said the suspects belonged to a syndicate that specialised in snatching vehicles from the owners at gunpoint.

The police alleged that the suspects operated in Ikorodu where they robbed and also sold vehicles.

According to the police, Ahmed Abdullahi, Azeez Abiodun, Olusoga Taiwo, Wasiu Azeez and Dele Balogun are among the suspects arrested.

It was learnt that three of the suspects, Adebiyi Mafimisesin, Lekan Aibinuomo and Okalawon Akinpelu; were receivers of stolen vehicles, which were either Toyota or Honda products.

A police source said, “The case emanated from Ikorodu Police Station and was reported on June 20, 2012 by a complainant who was attacked and robbed of his Toyota Sienna Space bus.

“We swung into action and we discovered where they keep stolen vehicles and sell to buyers. We recovered six vehicles; Toyota Sienna, Toyota Corolla, Honda Accord, Toyota Camry and two others.

“We also recovered single-barrelled locally-made shotguns and 24 live cartridges and one expended cartridge.”

Grounding the airline is never the solution, though I have never flew Dana, but it was confirmed by regular travelers that Dana is one of the best domestic carrier in Nigeria. On Wednesday I flew from Lagos to Abuja at a skyrocketed rate of N32,000 and yet almost gone deaf due to the noise from the aircraft rear engine. Those asking for Belview airline, FYI it has been rebranded to FirstNation which I have flown several times, Dana will also do same "rebranding" With Dana and Air Nigeria out of business, it has not been funny, Arik,IRS,Aero,FirstNation fares have now skyrocketed to 45% with their noisy aircraft. The ban on Dana should be lifted, since the AIB investigation didn't indict them "go and sin no more" The FG has a lot to do in the aviation industry, proper checks should be put in place for all airline operators.

its every young mans dream to be an entrepreneur. This thread is so interesting, In 2005, after graduating from the UNI i ventured into entertainment business, I had a recording studio, with equipment worth 700k. I even had some upcoming artiste which were under my label, its like a family business, because the studio was located in my neighborhood where i grew up. I had a very big dream of selling an artiste under my label. After three years, i was still investing in the studio, changing equipment, beautification, yet nothing was coming in. The only sales made in four years was 50k. I had no other option than to quit, sold all my equipment. After then I have been dreaming BIGGER, tried writing few proposals, not sure it was well constructed though. Right now I am confuse, don't know what to venture into. I like to be my own boss. What do you advice? supplying computers, tablets, phones to companies. How do I go about it with a capital of NGN1Million?

Always use your dictionary whenever you have problems with English language. It helps. Plural of "aircraft" is aircraft. and calling journalists daft is uncalled for, even in Britain, English language is still taught, so what's the BIG deal.

A country that is being govern by retards. The Minister of Aviation should be fired immediately, pilots don't just jump into the cockpit to fly airplanes. They get cleared during takeoff and landing from the air traffic control (ATC). Tired of sad news

@Vicjustice. Thank you very much and God bless for the advice. I am applying this week. Learnt a lot from this and I hope I succeed. Yes I am ready to state to the ECO I have been refused in 2006, but the TRUTH is I have no record of the refusal i.e. the Lag Number, all I could remember was the hotel reservation wasn’t properly done and my finances weren’t right at that time, the refusal detail is a major problem to me. Maybe I can write a cover letter on this, or what do you advise?
Travel / Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 2 by elimokhai(m): 2:13pm On Jun 05, 2012
Good afternoon Justwise,

I must commend your good work on Nairaland especially on UK visa, not even sure an ECO knows all that you know.

Let me be precise as far as I can.

I am applying for a visitor's visa.

Firstly: I have been refused in 2006 using the old passport. In the old passport I have two names there, E.G John Kunle, while in the new e-passport I have E.G John Mike Kunle both carrying my original date of birth. But I do not have the information of the refusal including the LAG number which was suppose to be included in my application. Please let me know if I am correct.

Question: Can i apply with the e-passport? do i include in my application if I have applied before or not? if yes, what should I do? how do I convince the ECO

Secondly: My marriage certificate was destroyed by water, so I was recently issued on June 1st with a " certified true copy" I intend to attach the sworn affidavit from high court which I used to obtain it, including the photocopy of the original which I still have with me.

Question: Hope the ECO will not think otherwise.

Thirdly: My bank statement has a balance of 1.8 for a visit of 3weeks. The account is well ran, deposit made mostly by me. It is a current account. Since I do not work, savings come from business which I run locally from sales of laptop, phones, and farming which I do locally.

Question: Hope the ECO will not assume I do not have evidence that the funds were genuinely earned?

Lastly: I have two kids, but obtain their birth certificates recently, I intend to write a cover letter to this effect stating reasons why I just obtain their certificates. I intend to write that during the course of compiling my travelling document for this trip. I misplaced the original copies of marriage certificate and the birth certificates on transit, that is the reason why I have the certified copy of the marriage certificate and the birth certificate which also have its own sworn affidavit which I intend to attach.

Question: woundn't the ECO think I obtain those document for the purpose of deceiving them? I also have the birth notice which was issued by the hospital.

Justwise, please I need your urgent response. God bless you.
