Donxavier: . Seconded and @elle, What are the prospect as regards employment. I know all the new immigration rules now have made it tough for us foreign students to secure good jobs. What is your advise as regards how to really remain in the uk after our studies? Are there still internships and Career fairs? Is there a proven way to actually remain in the uk after graduation? Also I have filled your survey and am looking forward to a response from you. Welcome back, we your new 'children' have missed you and it's great to have you back.

What are the prospect as regards employment? Well I am sure you know this depends on individual circumstances. The main ways to stay in the UK:
1. High-value migrants
1a. Tier 1 (Exceptional talent)
Tier 1 (Exceptional talent) is for people who are internationally recognised as world leaders or potential world-leading talent in the fields of science and the arts, and who wish to work in the UK. Every initial application must be endorsed by a 'designated competent body':
-Royal Society
-Arts Council England
-British Academy
-Royal Academy of Engineering

Unless you have already accomplished a lot with years of experience or research in Nigeria this is unlikely to be a category that many people will enter under.

1b. TIER 1 (GRADUATE ENTREPRENEUR)
The Tier 1 (Graduate Entrepreneur) category allows the UK to retain (non-European) graduates identified by UK higher education institutions as having developed world class innovative ideas or entrepreneurial skills, to extend their stay in the UK after graduation to establish or more businesses in the UK.

The limit of 1,000 places is divided equally between participating institutions, (these must be highly trusted sponsors under Tier 4, or A rated Tier 2 and 5 sponsors if a Tier 2 and 5 sponsor licence is held) up to a maximum of 10 endorsements per institution, to qualify institutions must confirm that:

-they wish to take part; and
-that they have established processes and competence for identifying, nurturing and developing entrepreneurs among their undergraduate and postgraduate population.

The limit does not apply to Graduate Entrepreneur applicants who wish to extend their leave under this category. Again a very difficult category to enter under but more attainable for those who have the drive but lack experience likely needed for the category above.

1c. Tier 1 (Entrepreneur)
Tier 1 (Entrepreneur) is for non-European migrants who want to invest in the UK by setting up or taking over, and being actively involved in the running of, a business or businesses here.

You must have access to or investors supplying at least £50,000 (approx N13 million) and there are conditions you must meet. If you can't meet these conditions you need investors supplying at least £200,000 (approx N50 million).

2. Tier 2 (General)
The Tier 2 (General) category is for foreign nationals who have been offered a skilled job to fill a gap in the workforce that cannot be filled by a settled worker.

If you are switching from Tier 4 or the former categories of student, student nurse, student re-sitting an examination or student union sabbatical officer, you must have current permission to stay in the UK and, during that permission to stay, you must have lawfully obtained a UK degree, postgraduate certificate in education or professional graduate diploma of education. You must have obtained one of the named qualifications. They do not include, for example, vocational qualifications at degree level which are not degrees.

If you are a PhD student, you do not need to have completed your course, but you must have completed at least 12 months' study towards it in the UK.

Jobs Nigerians are doing and getting visa for include:
-Biomedical Science related subjects: hospital medicine/science.
-Geology/geotechnical engineering
-Nuclear energy
-Oil and gas careers (engineering side)
-Pre-registration pharmacist working in the NHS or hospitals, registered pharmacist working in the NHS or hospitals
-Veterinary surgeons (must be registered as a member of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons)
-Secondary education teachers in the subjects of maths or pure sciences (physics, chemistry, biology and any combinations of these)
-All teaching posts in special needs schools
-Social workers in children's and family services
-Specialist nurses working in operating theatres, operating department practitioner, specialist nurse working in neonatal intensive care units
-HPC-registered diagnostic radiographer, HPC-registered therapeutic radiographer,
-Sonographers
-Engineers
-Software developer
-Systems engineer
-Overhead linesworker in the electricity transmission and distribution industry
-Skilled chefs
-Skilled senior care workers

3. Further study
Studying for another Masters or getting a PhD made more attractive if you win a scholarship and of course you need to do well in school or have a sound proposal to do so.

4. Marrying a British Citizen
Hopefully people are doing this for love and not as a means to stay in the UK. It is worth noting it is not a sure fire way to stay and is complex but very achievable.

I advise you to look into teaching (especially special needs) as a way to remain in the UK as regards how to really remain in the UK after studies. I can help with obtaining tuition experience which will help with applications to become a teacher. Also attend all career fairs and get internships as you can as these are the best ways to obtain Tier 2 general/work visas.

All the best. Keep filling the forms.

@Cavenchy - Thanks for your response. I personally believe, the visa application process is too restrictive and costly for any person to have to go through more than once following a rejection which is one of the reasons I first started the Part 1 post. If you look at other things the government has done to restrict immigration it is equally frustrating. Everything about it is a money making machine. Costly visa, more expensive tuition fees, you pay tax but are not entitled to general healthcare or benefits, some bank accounts charge you for being an international student, student halls of residence are very expensive and local landlords look for a British guarantor so do not care for your parent in Nigeria. Again all frustrating. I believe you can make profit without draining/cheating people and immigration helps country that know where its value lies a lot. America would not have google or eBay without immigrants for instance.

Anyway, forget my rant. Lol. Justwise, DisGuy and so many other people here have continued the good work of this thread when DegreeAngel's popularity and my other commitments meant I could not personally come here. They have spearheaded this on and continue to do so and I really appreciate their time and efforts. God will bless them immensely.

My latest focus on immigration that would affect almost everyone on this thread is centred on accommodation and employment for students and that is why I asked for the forms to be filled.

Thank you for your responses so far.

We have had a lot of interest in Aberdeen and London now overtaking the three areas previously mentioned interestingly so please fill in the forms if you have read this post and not done the survey as we make plans to focus our efforts on a few areas for our own purchases to let out to students.

I am getting more requests for accommodation assistance and job assistance. We are doing our best and have started expanding in the accommodation department with a view to invest in property we will own and manage ourselves. Those of you who are interested in privately rented accommodation should fill in the survey below:
http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/P7TKT96

We already have a number of places in Birmingham, Huddersfield and Manchester.

The cost of a full apartment in Manchester for instance, is about £450pcm excluding bills (£650pcm including bills). For a room it can be as low as £300pcm including bills but this would mean sharing a bathroom and kitchen with a maximum of 4 other people (though usually only 1 or 2 flatmates unlike 10+ flatmates for hostel/halls of residence).

Distances from university are on average 15 minutes by car for our most optimally priced and popular properties obviously longer by public transport (approx 30 minutes depending on property). Because we are purchasing some properties in this area soon, there may be an opportunity for you to land a great deal and personalise your room/home so that you have some home comforts. We often add services of stocking fridge, freezer and cupboard with Nigerian drinks, foods and cereals from a list we provide just before you pay deposit. We even provide an umbrella and UK sim card also and can assist with other settling in tasks like registering with a doctor and bank!

Please respond today if possible with your preferences.

@JustWise - Here is a update, pls can you put it in the first post?

Thanks:

CHANGE: Further changes from April 2012
From April 2012, the following changes will also be made, as previously indicated in the statement of intent published on 31 March 2011:
• Work placements - these will be restricted to one-third of the course, unless the course is at degree level and the sponsor is a higher education institution or the student is on a study abroad programme.
• Time limits in Tier 4 - we will limit the time students can spend at degree level to 5 years, with certain exemptions for longer courses and doctorates at higher education institutions.
• Tier 1 Post-study work - this will be closed from April 2012, however we will retain a route into sponsored graduate employment through Tier 2 of the points-based system.

As far as I am aware this issue has not affected airports (nor will it as these areas are more secure than the average shop) and thus will not affect those coming to UK. Universities have not been affected either and I doubt these problems will still be apparent next month.

That may be the best option for a lot of people. Remember you have to apply less than three months before you intend to start the course so lets say this is November, meaning the money has to be in your account 28 days before this (October). You can come to UK up to one month before your course starts which may help in securing accommodation and part time employment. There are also many universities with January start dates contact me at director@degreeangel.co.uk to find out more.

@ell77,

Thanks for your post buh are u sayin that some ECO can refuse one for not puttin the oanda rates,i didnt put though i have more than enough of the 5400Pounds.

Yes they can, whether they will or not is another story. This is especially true for those whose exchange rate has fluctuated significantly to take them below the needed funds in the time the visa is being processed.

mazamaza:

The reference letter I said I submitted should not confuse people. It was a letter the school I applied to requested to see proof that I was taught in english here in nigeria to be able to assess me by* that meant I didn't have to write the ielts test. Different schools will have their requirements and what they can work with so it is advisable to write to the school and ask them about that and what exactly they need to test your english. As the the currency rate, yes, some people may get away with it but why bother when you can just print it as it was mentioned in the new conditions for the tier 4 visa. And because some these people look for the flimsiest reasons to deny entry, its better to just add it.

Exactly

Dapto:

@eell77
U r a blessing 2 dis forum.
As a rule of thumb,it's gud to submit all d document used in gettin admission to d ECO.
Now,d statement of result i used in gettin d admission is no more presentable-simply faded. So i had to go and get another frm my univ here. But d problem now is dat d date on d new one is obviously different frm d previous one and my univ has destroyed it (since it is illegal 2b in possesiön of 2 result).Hope d ECO wil understand since d only difference is just d date.
Also,i had to get another transcript to present to d ECO since  my school sent d first one directly to d univ. in d UK.Pls,what do i do inorder not to implicate mysef wit all dis?

So long as the document holds the same correct information the date of print should not be an issue. Yes it looks suspicious and under other visas would probably be called up on but for points based visa they are not allowed to reject you on this. You can send a small explanation however to accompany this if you are worried (a letter from your school is even better). But I would not worry about it, so long as none of the documents sent were ever fake.

KBerry87:

Hello everyone, ave got all my documents set, The CAS Letter and the documents used to obtain it, the bank statement (but i cant get a cover letter because it is savings account), My TOEFL Score report,an itenary and a work experience. Hope that is ok, Or do i need more EG. Affidavit of Support?
Pls help me out

I am not sure what you are referring to by the items in bold. So long as your bank statement is in your name and covers a period of 28 days (with the full amount of funds available for that whole 28 day period) and you put the www.oanda.com rate on the bank statement that should be fine as you have stated you have already got all the documents you used to apply for the CAS there (were any additional items that you did not use to apply included on the CAS? If so rectify this with the school). All you need now is to fill the form correctly, pay the fee and submit the documents.

bountimore:

Hello everyone that has gotten a Visa,

please did u guys submit photocopies of all the original documents u used in applying for VISA along side your application?

Most importantly, did everyone submit a photocopy of passport data page?

If you have submitted originals this should be fine.

@ell77 and ALL

Thanks so much for your concern, i did rang my school yesterday, spoke with the Finance and accommodation depts, and i was told at finance that the sum i paid in hasn't been splitted for accommodation and tuition, its all been directed towards tuition, they confirmed they could split it for me if i wanted and I told her i had already applied to the Embassy and informed the Embassy that i pad 4250p for tuition and the Lady assured me the sum won't be touched in order not to cause confusion with the embassy.

So i guess I should put my mind at rest now and trust God

Thank you ell77

@Bountimore - glad to hear that news, it sounds like your application should be okay now. Stop worrying and pray to God to finish the work He started for you.

phraoh:

You put in your maintenance money in batches. My maintenance funds was put in bulk and not in my name. Please will BHC think that its dubious or something.

Its putting the whole money in bulk,a problem.

For UKBA Tier 4 PBS Student Visa, the BHC has no right to question whether your money came in at once or in batches they are aware as a student this money was unlikely to come from any salary or business you were doing and was most likely sponsored by your parents or a gift. No need for explanation it will be fine.

eezeebone:

@dming , Its Lancaster University
@justwise Thanks boss,, i'd do the return ticket then
@Dapto, , i deposited it in batches, N1.6 today, 1m the next day and just like that. Once it was complete , i added 300k just to ensure it doesnt fall victim to rate surge, contined to use my acount normally but counted the 28 days from the day the sum was complete. There were no references stating the source or use for the money, just normal credits. It ended up being okay.
@bountimore , I submitted on 08 July and collected on 25 July. That leaves 12 working days.

Thanks all. And more successes to come.
@eezeebone - Congrats! Return ticket is normally cheaper than single journey for some strange reason and it is okay to buy either. Try ad space it out until it reaches summer holiday if possible or near end of your degree if it is a one year course.

chukudi:

documents i submitted 4 visa

degree statement of result( mentioned in my CAS)
transcript(mentioned in my CAS)
statement of account(3 months)
cas statement
visa application forms(personal detail form & self assessment form)
nysc cert.

documents i didn't submit
reference letter
copy of oando exchange print out or any other document

In my opinion, i still think one should only send those documents mentioned in his cas in addition 2 statement of account. one can as well include ref. letter &  oando print out(not compulsory) in addition 2 the documents mentioned in cas though i didn't include them.

Congrats chukudi - but please don't make assumptions about that oanda exchange rate, because although it is a minor issue and rarely picked up, it CAN BE USED FOR REFUSAL!

Under Appendix C - Maintenance (funds) Paragraph 1A(f), it explicity says:

"Where the funds are in one or more foreign currencies, the applicant must have the specified level of funds when converted to pound sterling (£) using the spot exchange rate which appears on www.oanda.com* for the date of the application"

See the following link: http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/policyandlaw/immigrationlaw/immigrationrules/appendixc/

A number of people, do not follow the rules explicitly and get through, others who try to follow may not, it depends on the leniency of your ECO. No one can refuse you if you follow the rules however. Bear this in mind and aim to be accepted first time, more is better than less. Afterall, what does it take for you to right down oanda exchange rate, you use more energy posting on this thread! Think about it.

@Redman

Some interesting points. On the plus side I am very sure the UK citizens will not be voting Tories again unless they do something phenomenally well so their days are numbered anyway.

If Labour came back they would analyse their previous mistakes alongside the mistakes of this coalition government and it is likely to go in favour of immigrants.

Most countries were built on the back of immigrants, UK being no different although their policies and organisation skills helped make this possible immigrants play a vital role in many western societies. Bring on 2014.
Travel / Re: Uk Deports 61 Nigerians by ell77(f): 8:21pm On Jul 22, 2011
@Redman you make some remarkable comments many of which I agree with but not all.

I agree with the following:

Redman44:

The Home Office has already started carrying out the agenda of David Cameron and some of his Right Wing advisers. Immigrants from outside the EU will find it very hard to get visas to the UK.
Yes, this is why immigrants need to be smart, diligent and not cut corners. They also need to have a good idea of what they aim to achieve by coming to the UK, the streets are not paved with gold, but the bright and determined will prosper.

To me, the Conservative and Liberal Democrat Government has not really achieved much since it came into power.
Not true, they have caused a number of riots! grin

The Welfare System has become a burden on Public Finances and Cameron is making a lot of painful cuts to reduce the deficit. The easy thing to do is to target illegal immigrants and make the people think the Government is working.
Yes this is true and although the ppor and elederly will benefit from this a lot the middle classes and immigrants do not benefit from it as much as they are taxed to fund it. Immigrants are a high priority on Cameron's list for some strange reason but that is the Right Wing for you.

The truth is that the UK needs immigrants because there are too many Pensioners in the country. There are too many old people in Britain who cannot work again. Britain needs people to pay taxes that will sustain the economy and immigrants who do all kinds of jobs are paying a chunk of the taxes that keeps Britain afloat.
True, immigrants are the one group who contribute to taxes receieving virtually no benefit from it (apart from social benefit of roads and public transport etc). They are the one group who can contribute to the economy without raking from the government (or tax payers). They are valuable, occupying both the lowest paid menial jobs and highest ranked specialist roles. Cameron for now is only interested in welcoming those who follow the latter category.

Mind you, Britain is a rich country and there are still loads of opportunities there.
Exactly, but you have to be wise, thoughtful, hardworking and diligent, much like any other nation in the world. Except here, if you follow the rules and work harder you can achieve faster.

@ell77 and all

Here it is now!

I paid 4250p in all
I told the school to use 4000p for tuition and 250p for accommodation and filled the accommodation form
But on sending me my CAS, the school sent me a CAS saying : Amount paid till date- 4250p
They didn't indicate on my CAS that 4000p for tuition, 250p for accommodation, they said  Amount paid till date- 4250p
So i assume the whole 4250 is for tuition as they put on my CAS Amount paid till date- 4250p

Now I applied for VISA telling UKBA that I have paid 4250p for tuition as my CAS has not indicated that they have deducted 250p for accommodation
Today The school sent me a mail of accommodation offer saying I should accept my accommodation offer in the next 5-days.
Now my fear is I hope the school hasn't gone ahead to deduct 250 for accommodation as they have now offered me accommodation and that means my tuition will now be 4000p as against the 4250p i told UKBA and if they will update that to UKBA, this will automatically cause a confusion.

What do I do?

Here it is now!

I paid 4250p in all
What is the difference between the total money you had to show (tuition fees and maintenance) and the money you displayed on your balance?

I told the school to use 4000p for tuition and 250p for accommodation and filled the accommodation form
But on sending me my CAS, the school sent me a CAS saying : Amount paid till date- 4250p

Ok, on the CAS it said Amount paid till date- £4250 without differentiating tuition from accommodation

Now I applied for VISA telling UKBA that I have paid 4250p for tuition as my CAS has not indicated that they have deducted 250p for accommodation
Without confirming from the school you decided to assume they had not listened to you/made a mistake and wrote down something different to what you had requested the school should do.

Without knowing whether the university has deducted £250 toward accommodation or not it is hard to advise you. Your best bet is to contact the university to ask them exactly what they have entered on the CAS system for UKBA and see if it correlates with what you told the UKBA. If it does not, ask them to change it if possible and include a note on the change stating it was an error or misunderstanding. If they refuse, ask them if they will accept £250 sent to them to top up the tuition and then declare this was an error (highlight how unclear the CAS letter they sent was and how you did not want to disturb them by asking them to edit the letter before). Speak to the international advisors being as clear as possible and act fast!

The UKBA may be understanding, but they have refused people for more minor errors. If you have excess sums in your account it may work in your favour more. If your visa is refused and you have enough time you can apply again without predjudice but you will have lost the N68,000 application fee, there is no right to appeal if you are sending new documents for confirmation (though it may be possible for administrative review this can be lengthy and you have to prove you made no mistake).

Don't worry too much but try and sort it out sooner rather than later.

All the best

Only 61? This is lyk a drop in a mighty ocean of "illegos" in Uk besides am not sure it was worth it tho, as it wudv cost tax payers about £1200 per deportee 4 d emergency deportation, what more these same peeps always seem to find their way back everytime, ask pecham peeps. God only knows how!

Very true! Unfortunately they don't always find their way back nor does this new government care about how much is being lost by this war on immigration!

Most immigrants bring determination to succeed in the UK that many indigines learn from (or should)and they spend their money in the UK (taxes included - even those not entitled to public assistance). The Tories will soon wise up to this waste of time and focus only on immigrants committing crimes but in the meantime, people should seek stay in the UK through the front door not the back. There are many organisations out there willing to help, some for free check the OISC.

@Bountimore - I can tell you are very anxious right now, unfortunately this makes it quite difficult to determine what you are saying has happened to you from what you have written. Please contact your university and ask them exactly what they have entered on the CAS system for UKBA and see if it correlates with what you told the UKBA.

Or try and repost what you said in a step by step manner here for us to have the chance to advise you better. Now is not the time to panic but the time to act, if there are any issues your university may be able to explain this to UKBA with an edit to the CAS.

ACCOMMODATION IN UK

Dear Nairlanders,

For those of you applying for your visas or who have gotton your visa already and are thinking of where you will stay in the UK. We may be able to help, it is quite difficult to get accommodation through estate agents here when you have no UK account or credit history or UK employment. For many their only options are to stay with relatives if this is possible or stay in halls of residence and beg them to let you go after realising the high cost involved was not necessary. We are able to provide accommodation for students ranging from £4,250 per annum to £6,000 per annum. Along with full receipts, contractual documentation and letters of confirmation. Deposits required vary and range from a period of one month deposit plus one term's rent in advance (i.e. one month rent plus four months rent as the figure is based on a one year Master's course). This could mean paying as little as £1,770 (roughly N440k) for four months rent!

Please contact us to tell us your accommodation requirements including the full details of your university and campus.

zibah1:

please i want to ask, in showing evidence of funds, can statement in NGN be accepted as long as the money is equivalent to the pound amount reqiured or must it be funds in pounds which are held in a dorm account?

Please refer to very first post for details of applying. Your banks statement will normally display NGN amounts because it is a Nigerian account, you are required to put the Pounds sterling amount and conversion rate in writing on the statement using www.oanda.com (UKBA guideline).

phraoh:

Please,is the tracking on VFS reliable.

If the internet system is working well and there has been no server downtime then yes, most people first find out through tracking via internet or a text I have heard.

Big Phil:

@ell77 and Justwise,
I just started counting down my 28days today because I the last tranche of money was deposited yesterday. I will be making my application on the 17th August 2011 and my school resumes 12th september 2011. further to this my CAS also states that i submit only my certified original degree certificate.

I want to ask
1. will there be enoygh time for application processing and grant of visa from 17th aug to 9th sept? Can i still apply on that date?

2. Does it mean i dont need to submit any other acedemic document except my degree certificate as stated on the CAS or are there other acedemic documents ( SSCE result, etc) to be submitted though not stated in the CAS. The CAS stated I dont need to show proof of my english ability to the UKBA. Pls clarify what documents I should submit?

Regards

17th aug to 9th sept is more than three weeks, UKBA website states most people would have received their application reponses by this time so it is certainly possible. From my experience most of my candidates received responses between one and two weeks. You can also try and get your university to send you extension of time for the entry clearance officer in case you enter the UK late.

Please refer to very first post for details of applying.
You should apply with your degree certificate and any other documents you used to apply for the university place in the first place. More is better than less.

Hope this clarifies things, remember people please refer to very first post for details of applying before posting as a lot of repetition is occuring.

All the best!

Dapto:

@ell77,thanks 4d wise counsel. But there is an issue to the transcript. As a rule, transcript are sent to d school directly and as such if am to get another transcript from my university here by hand, wont the date on d new one contradict d one i used in applying or wil they understand.

@Dapto - contact your university that you sent your transcript to, they are supposed to send you back your original documents (if they have and it has been lost most likely if not sent by secure courier, ask for them to document this in wiritng for use with your visa application and if possible get a new transcript from your university and ask the UK university to acknowledge this is the same as the one they received via email (or ask them to email a scanned stamp copy of your transcript to hold alongside your new re-issued transcript).

phraoh:

Everybody is now talkin abt trusted bank, please is Diamond bank a trusted bank. Also, hope the tracking on the VFS site works good, ?

A trusted bank should cover every major bank in Nigeria including Diamond bank, First bank, Access bank, GTB etc etc. UKBA will soon start publishing details of banks they regard as not trusted banks. In the meantime, stay away from microfinance banks or private banks not regulated by the government.

Mama Kings:

I used Skye Bank and also used Preparation For Life as visa advisers (they cross checked all docs). Is Skye Bank a trusted banK?

Yes, I assume Skye Bank is a trusted bank, you are more likely to have problems with microfinance banks or banks that have been known to falsify information or are unable to provide complete information when contacted by UKBA. Please, remember you are responsible for your visa application even if you use and agent/advisory service.

bountimore:

@ell77

, Thx!, as per the academic reference, the school requested it while i was seeking admission with the school, i submitted 2 academic refs to the school, but when they issued me my CAS, the school has only indicated in my CAS that the Docs I used in gaining the admission was MY BTECH CERT, TRANSCRIPT and WACE!, they didnt include it in the CAS that I used academic references as well, so upon applying for the VISA i only submitted the Docs the School indicated in the CAS (BTECH CERT, TRANSCRIPT and WAEC), i didn't put academic refs in the visa application cos the school hasn't put it as one of the documents in the CAS issued to me even though it was one of the Docs i used in gaining the admission, but upon reading UKBA Guidance, they instructed that all Docs used in gaining admission should be submitted, even Academic Refs which I did't submit to them because my school hasn't indicate that i should submit that too on the CAS, Thats my only fear now!, do u think it matters?, *deep breathe*

Sorry about my long note though, just tryna make myself clear!, Thx!

I understand your confusion now, funnily enough I have never experienced this with my universities but to be on the safe side you should have included all documents you used to apply for the admission to university. This should have been on any CAS information they sent you, but because you cannot see the information the university has forwarded to the UKBA you should have included the reference as well. Universities electronically fill a UKBA database holding your CAS number and the documents used to assess you. If there is a discrepancy between the database and what they sent you the UKBA has the right to reject you as the onus is on you to provide the evidence not the university. This is not a good part of the system and UKBA are likely to be lenient about this so I would not worry but in future, more is better than less. I will include this point in the very first post for others to avoid this headache. But like I said, it is likely this will be overlooked especially as your transcript and certificate are more critical docuements than references anyway (as these are more easily faked).

Dapto:

@ell77 or anyone
Pls,can i use a foreign accout (dat is d option i have now) and how do u advise me to go about gettin d court affidavit as my guardian incidently resides abroad.
Lastly,my CAS only specified my certificate and waec. They dint indicate my transcript.Pls,shud i go ahead and submit d transcript wit my application or just obey d CAS
@Dapto - Submit the transcript and you can only use the guardian's account overseas if this person has gone to court and been appointed by the court as your legal guardian, otherwise it can only be your biological parents account, or your own account. Also your guardian's account must be at a sound institution which if it is in Europe or USA is likely but for countries outside these areas you must be more careful. Please see the very first post for more details.

I am not sure how quick it will take to have your guardian become your legal guardian if he/she is not already. A quicker solution would be to have the money transferred to your account. The guardian can also make it a joint account and write an accompanying letter that they agree these funds are available for your study.

@Mama Kings - I know this is a very distressing time for you right now, but worrying will not help. Remember 1% of applications to Nigeria take up to three months to receive a response (we don't know why). so no news may be good news. However, in my experience the longer it takes for a response often indicates more is being queried and perhaps means a rejection is possible. Try and recall all you submitted in your application and I hope you used a trusted bank in Migeria. If you feel anything you did may not have been 100% perfect start preparing documents now for a reapplication a rejection is not the ned of the world and provided you have not touched the money in your account you can reapply immediately.

@Bountimore - Following UKBA's guidance is very important. If you follow it to the letter, they cannot reject you, if you do not follow any of their guidance (more like rules) then you have to pray the officer reviewing your documents uses his/her own judgement in your favour. From what you have said, it is unlikely you will be rejected even though you did not follow the guidance correctly. But this depends on the officer and some are less forgiving than others. The academic reference you submitted, was it requested by the university or you submitted it of you free will?

@sean001 - Like justwise said your question has been answered on the first page, very first post has been updated to answer freqeuently asked questions like yours.  If the money is in your account you are sponsoring yourself, your parents or court appointed guardian are the only relatives who can sponsor you for Tier 4 student visa. Under the points based system, UKBA cannot reject you because money came in from elsewhere, it is for non points based applications like general visitor and family visitor that the UKBA may question you more on the source of these funds. All you have to do is:
1) Make sure these funds are in your account for atleast 28 continuous days before applying for your visa.
2) Make sure the amount you have is correct (see first post for guidance on maintenance fees points)
3) Write your OANDA conversion rate and amount this equals in Pounds Sterling for the day you are applying for your visa on the statement of accounts (currenty adding this point to my fist post).

Remember any transactions you make during the period before applying for your visa that result in you dipping below the required maintenance funds will result in you having to count your 28 days from the date of that last transaction. For instance the required maintenance fund is say £20,000/N5 million Naira at a conversion rate of N250 to £1. You had N5.1m on 1st of June (more than enough at this point), on 20th of june however you deduct N200,000 bringing your balance to N4.9m (N100,000 less than your maintenance funds), then on 21st of June you pay back in N100,000 (exactly equal to your maintenance funds). Because your deduction on 20th resulted in you dipping below N5m required maintenance fees you will have to count your 28 days from 21st of June (as opposed to 1st of June had you not deducted money from your account that resulted in you going below the N5m required), causing a delay of 21 days for one single transaction. In other words you will now have to count your money from the day the full amount is in your account, which must remain there continuously for 28 days.
