Giddyperson: Are you in Nigeria cuz i asked my hospital people to help dispose mine and they said they don't. My hubby was forming we can dispose of it ourselves only for him to later go and dump it in the thrash. I think hospitals should be responsible for it even if you have to sign a disclaimer I am in Nigeria o. Port Harcourt. As a matter of fact I've never even discussed placenta with them. I guess it's normal for them except one specifically asks for it. |

The conditions on that job are honestly not realistic for you. I teach too. A business you can do from home will suit you at this period. Besides, baby is coming. If you can kill both birds with one stone by caring for your little one while earning money comfortably from home, do it. |

booqee: this question has been bothering me..
in this modern day, what exactly do u do with the placenta? is it OK to leave it at the hospital?
I know in old times, they give it to the parent..in which some bury it or whatever way to prevent it from getting in "wicked people's hand"..
I've been wondering what to do with it when the time comes, cos it's not something u just wanna throw in the dustbin like that ..and burying is not really an option especially when everywhere is cemented. can u leave it in the hospital for them to destroy and dispose it them self?
u know this is Africa.. and we are kinda kinda too religious in this part of the continent hence the question.. The hospital does that for me every time. Some of these our superstitions are just ridiculous. The other day I opened a compartment in an old box of mine and found a piece of my second daughter's umbilical cord, which I had wrapped in newspaper and sealed in a plastic bag. It made me laugh so hard because the girl is five now. At the time, I had no idea what to do with the cord so I just did the first thing I thought of, wrap the stuff and shove it in a box. It's still there, by the way, along with the cord of my three year old son ; |

airforcewife: BA/BS Alhamdilillah Rabbil Alameen.
My Prince arrived on the 15th of August 2017.
I was 40wks and 3 days (tuesday) and woke up to slight cramping with contractions. Doctor had already told me to come with my bag the following day (wed) if there was nothing. So told Hubby about the little cramping and said we should get to the hospital and see. Packed everything and went. Doc checked, I was just a fingertip gone. Yeah it hurt for me and very comfortable. They inserted oxytocin at about 12pm. Cramping and contractions kept coming and increasing in intensity gradually. LOL! I dint know the big deal was yet to come, as I was pacing the corridors of the ward thinking I was managing well! Haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa! 7pm~they took me in and Doc swept the membrane. He told me he was going to check for dilation but went ahead with that. It was very painful aswell. Yelled to my liking. 8pm~Doc broke my water. Another very painful act. By then, contractions were at full blast. I'd hold hubby o, the iron on the bed etc. And all hubby could think of was that I was going to break their iron rod. LOL I could destroy the building and I wouldn't care less. I just wanted the pain to end. I started shouting for epidural, of course, the 'it has side effect' talk was flying. I dint care whether I had front, back or diagonal effect. They finally said the guy doing it was on his way. I said they were all lying and that they just wanted t waste more time and not have me do it. I asked the doctor to call the man again and put on speaker so I could hear if he really was on his way. He did o. I said I didn't hear any sound of motion so they were lying to me again. Hubby was now mentioning that i should pray instead of all th shouting and the reply I gave hubby is still a shock to me I shouted 'get out, which useless prayer' hmm. 9pm~ Doc asked me to start pushing. I was oo, they said I was only screaming. I was givin It my all. Baby just dint seem to bulge much. I heard I was given a cut. I didn't feel anything. It was later hubby was telling me how horrified he was when he saw Doc cutting through me like paper. And he he like u dint feel it? Naaa those intense cr and con were more superior. I finally felt the head pop out, and.... 9:30pm~ my heartbeat, my world, my handsome price slipped out. Suturing was another drama. They injected twice but i felt the stitching oh. The needle cutting thru and the thread being pulled. Hmm I kept doing what I did (shouting) and begging Doc to stop. He finally finished. He now started putting hand to pack blood, and mehn I had had enough and I closed my legs and sai it wasn't by force pls, that it would find its way out eventually. Doc must have had enough of my drama and he let me get up. Whewww. This was quite traumatic for me. I'd most likely opt for an epidural next time. Site healing gradually. Milk production in good swing. Battling with constipation abi na pile. It's getting to bit better. Today is naming ceremony. Congrats to all Mummy's, and taaaaaaaty Billion Gbosas fo y'all. Motherhood is indeed a wonderful feeling. Alhamdlillah ya AR hamar Rahimeen. Xxxxxx Congratulations dear. May your son grow up healthy and strong, and may he bring joy to you everyday. Don't forget to sit in a warm bath of warm (not hot) salt water as often as possible to help your perineum heal fast. It is well with you. |

zaynie: Is he madt? Is he crazzzy? Is he God? What nonsense . These are the kind of people that can make somebody decide to become an atheist. Just pretend you didn't hear anything (for all we know, your friend might have added her own salt and pepper) You don't need to thank any man for God's gift. That is why people need to stop asking Pastors or Imam to pray for them.....
Reminds me of our house Imam (we have a mosque in my house), when I first got married, he would be disturbing me to come and see him so he can give me stuff for easy conception, for me, I dislike such so I would find corner corner to escape. 3 months later, I took in, he was surprised (my 2 older sisters are ttcing). While I was pregnant my MIL insisted I needed protection (my dreams no be here..... I kept seeing death in fact I was sure I would die), I went with them (out of fear) , got back and it was Asr so I decided to pray, read my English Quran and the verse I read was deep, it talked about Allah protecting us even without our knowledge, about the many instances He has removed us from harm's way without our knowledge, about how we need to be firm in faith and accept whatever Allah deals for us as the best. I got up and told them, I'm not using anything...... And I didn't. By my 38th week, I was admitted cos my bp was over the roof and Moyo's amniotic fluid was too low to continue. I was induced. A balloon was inserted and I was dilating pretty quickly painlessly. At 4cm I was in no pain at all and the Dr was pretty confident that I would deliver before morning (that was around 6pm). Morning came and I was stuck on 4cm. Oxytocin was introduced, the pain was there but manageable until a nurse who was in a hurry rushed the drips, I was in hell! By the time the doctors saw it they had to give me a strong pain reliever in the middle of labor cos I was contracting like mad. I slept off and I could hear my child tell me he needed to come out (we had this bond from when he was inside, if I wanted him to kick, I just had to say it or think it, if I was sad or mad at someone he would be unusually quiet till I apologize and once I do, he would start tumbling about, I sang to him and imagine my shock when he was born, whenever he is cranky I would sing those songs in the same high notes I love and he would not only keep quiet, he would be staring and smiling.) All through I held on to my Quranic verse of Allah's will. I woke up and insisted on CS. They tried to convince me to wait 2 more hours but I wasn't having it. He was brought out and fine.... Or so we thought. My son spent the next 6 days in the NICU with tubes running in and out everywhere. He had swallowed quite a lot of maternal blood while he was inside so it was getting pumped out. What if I had stayed 2 more hours? Would he have choked on it? What if one of these assurers had told me we will be fine... And me sef bank on that? I still told my MiL, if I had depended on anyone, I would not have Moyo with me again, I just have that strong feeling. Today, 6 years later, if I tell our Imam everyone needs to pack out of the house because I dreamt, dem go pack o.
All glory and praise be to Almighty Allah alone.
Let no one.....a mere mortal take glory that belongs to the Almighty.
Again I ask... Is he madt? I agree with you. Man should not take the glory for what God has done. Sometimes they forget their place. |

Is there any need to buy receiving blanket after buying 1. The baby blanket 2. Baby shawl
I have the above 2, must I buy the receiving blanket? I intend going to the hospital with the shawl. I think receiving blanket is the cotton one. You'll need it to handle baby on a daily basis to minimize skin contact with potentially troublesome surfaces, including hands that are not so clean. |

Ify15: Birth story!!!.Sorry itz coming late.I was given August 4th and 5th as my due dates respectively. As frm mid July, I was having some menstrual cramps feeling but i'l relax since I had nt lost my mucus plug.Fast forward to my 38th week,I really got tired of being pregnant,I started eating pineapple anyhow, yet nothing.I couldn't kpekus because I'm nt wt Oga.I came over to my parents' place to gv birth.I started dancing too.But on the 27th,I danced like no man's business twerked, bent waist, jump, twist. Yet nothing to the extent I was aching all over the next day.But that didn't discourage me.On the 28th,I learnt my parents were going to the farm nd I knew d road was very bumpy so I grabbed the opportunity nd joined them.On our way d pot holes were something else,nd I got tired of d journey sef.I still pounded yam that evening all to hasten labour o After rocking the pounded yam,I started feeling one kind heat o,I quickly finished it and dashed to the bathroom for a cold bath. After that, the heat stopped and I felt like pooing,I did but the urge to poo didn't stop immediately, I kept on visiting the toilet o.I managed to SLP.At about 11 I felt this sharp pain.More painful than the cramps i'v been having. I noticed it was coming frequently like every 20 minutes nd it was painful, nd strength exhausting. I told my mum nd she said we should c hw it goes till !morning.I could not sleep again,I was just waiting for dawn to come so the pain could leave me alone. When it was dawn mumsi asked if I had lost d mucus plug,I said no.She said i should wait till I lose it so that the doctors will not b using me to do practicals.I didn't lose the mucus plug till evening at around 6.30.On seeing it,I told my mum,nd she dressed up nd drove me to the hospital. On getting to the hospital,d doctors were asking me if I was sure I was in labour,I said yes.The doctors said they were expecting me to b screaming. They gave me a bed and examined me around 7.30 nd said I was 3cm dilated. That was so painful,i screamed out my lungs. They said they wil come back to examine me around 12.I was scared of it o.Between DAT time nd 12.00,the pains became stronger, this time around no breathing space nd I felt like pooing nd throwing up.The nurse brought me a dish to throw up in and told me it wasn't poo that it was my baby's head that was pressing my rectum. I was trying not to push.It got to 12 a.m nd the doctor came to examine me nd said i was 6cm dilated. He said he will cm back to examine by 4 a.m.After 5 minutes,I felt the urge to push,I was telling the nurse I can't hold back the poo o,I was just pushing,at a point,I felt something like ballon in between my laps,I called her attention nd she said it was my amniotic sac, she ruptured it and called the doctor this was around 12.15 a.m.The doctor came and examined me nd said they should prepare me for the second stage.I was so surprised that it was going to b DAT soon. I was taken to the second stage room nd given the instructions on how to push, I followed. When I got tired,I toldl the doctor I wanted to rest, he said if he let's me rest,d baby will drink fluid,he made me feel my baby's head about to pop,on feeling and hearing that,I used all my strength left to bring forth my prince charming at about 12.30 a.m.He weighed 3.8k.g.I was given a tear o.When they were suturing the tear,it was another round of pain for me even after given 3 analgesic injections but the pain was stil something else to the extent,I told d doctor to leave it like DAT.But he no gree hear.Lol.At the end of it all,wen I look at my cutie pie,I forget about all the pains and smile.I bless God for his faithfulness. I wish my August teamies and other waddling mamas a smooth and fast delivery on Jesus' name.Birth story submitted. Cc. ToyosiR Congratulations. We're happy for you. |
