The same women receive free sanitary pads from NGOs and go ahead to sell them for as little as 50 naira for a pack. Is it Boko Haram that caused that one?

Update on suspended courses

WE just called to seek for clarifications from the Director, National Open University of Nigeria, Owerri Study Center, Dr Mrs Theresa Ettu.

Yes, the information about the suspension of some programmes are correct. But apparently, students are misinterpreting the release.

National University of Nigeria only suspended admissions on those programmes starting this semester. It affects those applying starting from this semester. Returning students are not affected as they will be allowed to complete their programmes.

But believe me, those suspended programmes will be restored in not long a time. You have to understand the management is working to clear grey areas with National Universities Commission.
It do happen; it is normal. Every University in this country do suffer the same fate from time to time.
So press no panic button yet..
Thank you!
Thanks for your reply. Please when will the suspension be lifted? Is there a specific date, or is it just pending indefinitely?

hi guys
I went to the university website to apply for PGD in HIV Education and Management, but saw that the admission has been suspended. Please, what does that mean? for how long will it be suspended, and can I still apply this year, or should I apply for another course? I am in the medical line and I don't want to have to do my postgraduate studies in another faculty, but time is not on my side; I need a postgraduate qualification soon, or i'll become irrelevant in my place of work.
I really need an answer, guys. Thanks. smiley

I hope you know that Fulani women have been completely islamized and no longer wear those traditional attires such as displayed here. They now wear hijabs over everything. Including the milkmaids. Under the hot sun.
I wonder when Africans will start influencing foreign cultures and not the other way around.

well, he's a doctor, and his offer is up to 5.8 million per annum. although that's before tax and other deductions like pension and health insurance. so it should finally come down to like 350k monthly. compared to 200k monthly earned by entry level doctors in federal government hospitals and even less in state and private hospitals.

I'm all for humanitarian work but do so knowing the risks.
In Nigeria today, no force can claim to protect you against Boko haram period. The army is doing it's best but there is still a lot of ground to cover. And trying to predict where Boko haram will bomb next is futile.
Like I said, bro. 1. Statistically and theoretically speaking, Dikwa is safe enough. I'm not dead yet. 2. It pays very well; I'm earning double my previous pay, and spending half of my previous expenses. 3. Somebody has to do the job, and someone will do the Job, make the money, and pump up his CV. So that when bigger NGOs come calling, you will still be at a disadvantage because he has more experience than you.
Good luck living a safe life, though.
Jobs/VacanciesRe: FHI 360 New Job Opportunities In Calabar, Uyo, Abuja, PH, Kaduna, Others by elobyobi:
I remember expressing all that negativity about applying in Dikwa/Ngala. Until I saw a guy "comfortably" seated in his shop in Anambra state that is "peaceful", and a truck came and rammed into his shop and killed him.
Death is everywhere. And it will get us all. We might as well make some money along the way, right?
In any case, FHI360, doesn't send it's staff to a place without proper security checks. Dikwa and Ngala are currently safe, relatively more so than Borno, because based on BH current modus operandi of bombing hard targets, Bombing Dikwa or Ngala would just be foolhardy. Even at that, their staff still enjoy round the clock security. Transportation to and fro is by helicopter, because they don't want story. Strict security protocols which if u follow will keep you safe. Constant patrol by military, CJTF and some undercover foreign security agents (cuz they have whites in the field too)
Their payment packages are also very competitive. Drivers alone earn 200k monthly. 200k a month, for driving around in a full option 2017 Ford Explorer! And that's after tax, and pension.
But, forget about the money for a split second. The people in these places have been left in the wake of the terrible devastation from all the fighting. They need healthcare, food and other relief materials, rehabilitation, reestablishment of normalcy, education, and most of all, hope. Men and women of honor in the past used to travel many miles to go help these people, for free, without security personnel following them, because they knew these people would perish without their help. I wish people would learn to look beyond themselves and actually practice all that stuff they learn in church/mosques.

What's a medical technician? Also the commoner painkillers in Nigeria are not usually known to be cardiotoxic, unless maybe the "technician" gave him lidocaine or cocaine or something.
In a case of Calf pain followed by chest pain, one must rule out an MI (heart attack) or a pulmonary embolism (blod clot in the lungs) before talking about an injection. Well it's a sad case.
My uncle got ill in the village yesterday. Had to be driven all the way to my workplace in the city, 1 hour away, just to get treatment. Left me wishing I had the funds to open a private hospital in the village, but then, this is an eastern village where almost every household boasts of at least one wealthy member, who can either donate or invest in building a hospital in the community. C'est la vie, I guess.
