well I believe somethings happen for a reason.

My problem with the akwa/cross people is that they seem not to accept the fact that they are all one. Be it Efik,Ibibio, oron or annang

Even when they have similar cultures and language.

But you see in Igbo is igbo wherever they go be it in Abia, imo or even in Delta... We all identify as igbo.
Although we have various dialects and culture.. We know we are igbo but an average Ibibio doesn't think He is same with the efik, annang or oron and vice versa.

I just wished they set aside their differences and embrace themselves

Growing up I had this thing for literature, I could read 4 to 5 novels under a month.

Since I was always indoors, that was what kept me busy. I admired Cyprian Ekwensi and China Achebe. I even wanted to be a writer or an actor. I had written some books at a tender age (which my mates loved to read).

But my Dad who was science inclined never liked the Idea, saying his son will never do that. Gradually the passion died (although I still write but not serious about it now)

Fast forward to secondary and university... I craved to study an art related course but my papa no gree oh.
He say lion no fit born goat. But las las my mum influenced his stance.
And I was allowed to be in an art class and later study an art related course.

I just felt my dad wanted to influence my life and I kinda despised him a little (though didn't show it b4 them break my head)

So while in Schools he supported me financially but maybe not mentally Sha.

And I came to realize that all this constituted to be shying away from many things. I stil love my Dad anyways very much.

I think that's where my problem started from.

We all need to identify the root cause of our before any changes can be made.

Anyone who heard coconut head will think maybe I did badly in school, but hell no, I usually came 3rd in a class of between 35-40 pupils.

He was like "those who came first get 2 head? “
To worsen the matter they were girls and of course next line was.

" so you were there and 2 girls beat you"
Once in a while I came first and they was no encouragement whatsoever.. He acted like it was my birthright to be at the first position.

Such situation really dampened my spirit. In my class I saw people who came 7th 8th 9th and 10th rejoice as If they won a lottery.

But the day I slipped to 4th, omo heaven shake that day.. Even me by my self knew that television no dy for me again oh.

Needless to say that we rarely went to any place of fun except maybe some relatives insisted after much persuation.

Na church we dy go.. And maybe wen we go wedding, burial or village.

I saw it as normal then, I never knew it was really affecting me.

Yeah.. So sorry guys.

Am called Elock.
Was born into the home of an Academician (Dad) and Nurse (mum).

My Dad doubles as a no nonsense Deacon in the church, And my mum a fervent Christian as well (although she no carry am for head).

Growing up in a quarters wasn't easy for me oh, as my Dad was the "you must always read your book and never play" type.

The only time I had to play was when he was away and I had to beg my mum, reassuring her I will return ASAP, before she allowed me to go join other kids.

Watching others play from the window was really disheartening for a young me then.
And when I eventually joined them I was kinda far behind.

And anytime my dad caught me playing with other kids he was like "every time play play nothing dy your coconut head"
