tony1918:My friend I want you to mention what has come to Esan land in terms of infrastructure and apointments for almost 8 years of inegbeniki and Onojie's loyalty to Oshomhole and Apc. Uromi has always been many miles ahead of other Esan towns in terms of developments ever before Aneni ventured into politics. Mind you I am not holding forth for the Uromis. In fact the average Uromi man hates Aneni. What I am saying is that since Uromi is part of Esan, what goes to them goes to Ishan. Aneni is fighting for Ishan, while our Onojie and Inegbeniki are fighting for the Afemai. |
Your royal mightiness, if you have benefitted from Oshomhole govt, my Esan has not. The road from Irrua to Opoji and from Ekpoma to Opoji has remained in its deplorable state in all the 8 years of Oshomhole tenure despite your fanatical support. Francis Inegbeniki has blinded you with his money. Despite you and inegbeniki clamour for Esan deputy in APC, Oshomhole spurned you and instead picked his brother. At least Aneni and PDP picked an Esan man as a deputy. If Aneni could even kill your like, we will be very glad. You are a disgrace and an embarrassment to the good people of Opoji land. Mind you I am an Iki - Opoji man. Therefore I am an interested party. |
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, has asked Governor Adams Oshiomhole to refund the billions of naira he collected from former President Goodluck Jonathan and former Governor Lucky Igbinedion. In a statement by his media unit, Pastor Ize-Iyamu said he should do that immediately since he is now talking about refunding the N700 million Jonathan gave to Edo PDP during the 2015 presidential election. He stated this during the presentation of a book entitled, “Breach Of Trust: An eyewitness account of political events in Edo State before and under Adams Oshiomhole’s watch, ’’ written by Oshiomhole’s former Commissioner for Oil and Gas, Mr. Orobosa Omo-Ojo. While defending the money Edo State PDP received from former President Jonathan — during the 2015 election, Ize-Iyamu said he had explained to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) that he never benefited from the N700 million given to the state chapter of the party, saying the record of how the fund was disbursed is already with the EFCC. He described Oshiomhole’s action as hypocritical, adding that he was also a beneficiary of such fund in the past. According to the PDP governorship candidate, “Now that Oshiomhole is talking about refunding the money former President Goodluck Jonathan gave to Edo State PDP — during the presidential election, he should also refund the billions of naira he collected from Jonathan in 2012 during the presidential election. Oshiomhole collected the money from Jonathan and worked against his then party, Action Congress of Nigeria in that election. He betrayed his party. “He should also refund over a billion naira the former governor of Edo State, Chief Lucky Igbinedion gave to him during the 2007 governorship election in Edo State. It a well-known fact that it was Chief Igbinedion who brought him into ACN and gave him money he used for the election.’’ Ize-Iyamu added that Oshiomhole and his ‘puppet governorship candidate’ in the September 10 election, Godwin Obasekei, could no longer be trusted by Edo people again because they had betrayed everybody who helped them into offices in the past. “Look around Oshiomhole, everybody who worked for him in the past has deserted him, because he betrayed them. He has betrayed teachers, judiciary workers, Okada riders, market women, political associates and Edo people in general. He can never be trusted again’’, he added. On his part, the author of the book, Mr. Orobosa Omo-Ojo, while welcoming invited guests to the presentation of the book, which took place at the University of Benin, Edo State, said, damaging relationship is a little price to pay when Oshiomhole is faced with a life-and-death political threat. The immediate past commissioner of Transport in Edo added, ‘’Sun Tzu’s approach to warfare, where deception is vital, plays a significant role in Oshiomhole’s administration — to him all is fair and as a result, Dennis Osadebey Avenue has become a killing field fo r truth and a breeding ground for deception." abiolert:If you an Esan man, are you also been fair to yourself by taking what belong to your senatorial district to another district? What has Oshomhole attracted to Esanland? I asked if Uromi is not part of Esan? Whether development or appointments is going to one local govt does not matter as long as that local govt is in Esan. AAU in Ekpoma is benefitting every Esan man. |
abiolert:Is Uromi not part of Esanland? The Onojie is spewing rubbish. Mind you I am an Opoji man. He is supposed to be my Onojie. But he is a very selfish ruler. Despite our support for Oshomhole for almost 8 years nothing has come to Opoji in terms of development or appointments. |

A group, Freedom of Information Advocates Initiative, has dismissed the report on arms purchase released by investigators appointed by President Muhammadu Buhari as a “tainted report” produced by “tainted investigators”. In a statement Wednesday, the London-based group said its analysis of the Presidential Investigative Panel showed some members ought to have been disqualified from participating in the probe. The panel, set up by President Buhari to audit procurement of arms by and for the Nigerian military between 2007 and 2015, submitted a third interim report last week. The report showed how ex-political appointees, private individuals, and former military chiefs were culpable in fraudulent diversion of funds meant for arms procurement. The president had come under severe criticism over claims that he may had shielded officials of his government. The FOIA, in its statement, said the chairman of the probe panel, John Odey, an Air Vice Marshal, ought not to have been in the committee. “Air Vice Marshal (AVM) Odey (Chairman of the Presidential Investigative Panel) was the Special Adviser (SA) to the then Minister of Defence Major Gen Gusau (Rtd) 2014 – 2015 whose role was to superintend and advise the Hon Minister of Defence on issues relating to arms procurement and other related matters,” the statement, signed by Sharon Adoli-Lawrence, Acting Executive Director, FOIA, said. “It is not prudent for AVM Odey to sit in judgment over a matter in which he was involved.” Suleiman Labaran, former Director General, Defence Industries Corporation Of Nigeria (DICON) who is also a member of the panel, is facing a N3.6 billion contract scandal for the production of AK-47 bullets which was 100 percent paid for but only executed up to 30 percent, according to the group. “As a result, the Nigerian Military continues to suffer casualties fighting Boko Haram. The General has no business on that panel. He is tainted,” the statement said. “Brig Gen Nyama who was the procurement director between 2007-2011 is also a member of the Presidential Investigative Panel investigating arms contracts which he participated in awarding. He should at best be a witness not an investigator,” it added. The FOIA said its forensic analysis further showed that 90 percent of N186 billion arms deal was disbursed by the Ministry of Defence and National Security Adviser’s office without input from the army, navy, and airforce. The group wondered why Murtala Yar’Adua, a former Minister of State for Defence, had not been invited for interrogation despite “superintending over the mis-managed N35 billion Peace-Keeping vote”. “Major General Gusau (Rtd), Permanent Secretary Aliyu, and others superintended over the arms procurement deal in the Ministry of Defence, NSA’s office, within the period 2007-2015 but they were not mentioned in the PIP report. Why?” The group said it also discovered that huge amount of money in dollars was paid to a Nigerian citizen with links to Niger Republic whose identity was never revealed in the investigative report. “Who is this Nigerian? The panel should unveil the identity of this person in spirit of transparency. “The report did not specify the amount allegedly misappropriated by each ministry/agency with dates indicating purpose and level of performance. “The funds were all lumped together misleading the general public. Each ministry/agency ought to have given account of all funds accrued to them within the period under investigation.” http://www.premiumtimesng.com/news/top-news/207266-presidential-arms-panel-filled-tainted-investigators.ht |
Mehn, see hyocricy at its highest. The Dasuki, KANU, Dokpesi, Fayose, Fani Kayode, Barde etc that you and your party have declared guilty, have they been indicted? The media trial your efcc and dss have waged against these individuals have completely eroded their reputation before they are found guilty by the courts. Mr president what is good for the goose is equally good for the gander. The measure you use for others, will also be used for you. Its a natural law. What goes around comes around. |
President Muhammadu Buhari has appealed to “discerning” Nigerians to ignore orchestrated attempts to sully the integrity of ministers and other senior government officials, who are being tarred with the brush of corruption without any concrete evidence, a statement by presidential spokesman, Femi Adesina, said Tuesday.http://www.premiumtimesng.com/news/headlines/207174-buhari-ministers-officials-tarred-brush-corruption-without-evidence.html

livingoracle:How can I insult my Oba? I am saying that the processes leading to the coronation of a new Oba is ongoing. The crown prince has not been officially crowned Oba. |
Benin have no Oba yet. He is the crown prince, Eheneden. |
As a Country, we should have a truly transformed heart for genuine and dedicated service instead of focusing on the things of the world and political power that will last forever. Our Leaders should not see elections as their ultimate destines and then become desperate. Rather focus should be what will truly be beneficial to the people and the nation. At this ,many Nigerians are looking back on their lives and sensitizing that many years of opportunities had been stolen from us through our land that was divinely assigned with grand economy and greatest of Nigerians. Those with right mind can recount panorama of leadership errors, self centredness, incompetence, besetting transgression, corruption, fraud and untrustworthiness had outsized administrative impact in many years of the country’s independence. As Edo State prepares to go to Poll to elect who will continue from where Comrade Governor stopped or who will take Edo State backward to where it was 8 years ago. Onething has been running through my mind. Where is Chief Sir Lucky Igbinedion, the Former Governor of Edo State, One time Chairman of Oredo Local Government, who His former PA and SSG to The Edo state Government is contesting for the Governorship Slot under once almighty Peoples Democratic Party. I believe that these two individuals are like Rice and stew. One cannot do without the other. Why hiding the influence of Chief Lucky in scheme of things. Is it because he is a bad market? That the Our Pastor Governor does not want him to spoil his market for him. It is clear fact that whatever Our Pastor Governor was, is and will be, Chief Lucky hands are in it. I expected Chief Lucky to lead the campaign instead of leaving it for old Generals whoever want to leave the stage for the younger generations. Even at over 70s, 80s and close to 90s years of old, these Old Generals of looting still want to lead the campaign for Our Pastor Governor to be. Why castigating Chief Lucky in the morning and dinning with him in the night updating him on the Journey so far and how the campaign is unfolding. Even in the context of constant flux and the implication that everything is perpetually evolving, the latest contribution by Chief Lucky Igbinedion, a former Governor of Edo State, to the business of image laundering,or more precisely, reputation laundering, stretches imaginative elastic to yield a point. Ahead of 57th Birthday on May 13th 2014, I could vividly recalled what Chief Lucky declared in an interview he granted with Journalists in His Abuja Residence, where he said and I quote:” in the darkest of days when I was the governor and the state was broke and could not pay salaries, I would run to these two individuals and they would borrow me money. They borrowed the state money”. Then the lenders in question, excuse Igbinedion illiterate usuage, were his father and Esama of Benin Kingdom, Chief Gabriel Igbinedion and the Chairman Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Board of Trustees then, Chief Anthony Anenih. In case anyone needed corroboration, Chief Lucky said,” Chief Anenih is around here, you can go and ask him whether I borrowed money from him or not”. What about his father? Should not he also be asked whether he actually lent money to Edo state through his son? His claims prompt disturbing dimensions, including reflections on the riches of the named individuals, their motives, their possible gains from such deals, especially in economic terms as well as in relation to manipulative influence in the corridors of power. It stand to reason that Chief Lucky Igbinedion may have unwittingly provided insights into the phenomenon of political godfatherism, long identified as a major drawback of the country’s politics, with negatively weighty implications for socio-economic development. It also stands to reason that Chief Lucky and His team of Administrators then led by the SSG to Edo State Government, Pastor Ize-iyamu were colossal failures. In issues of Governance, states in Nigeria now need a man with innovations, visions and creativity to govern states now. It is very clear that what is coming from Abuja is not enough to pay salaries talk more of providing basic infrastructure for the people. Today in Edo State, comrade Adams Oshimole does not owe salaries to state Government workers, he is not borrowing from individuals to pay salaries. Rather most of the borrowing of the Comrade Governor is for infrastructural Development. Any government that wants to succeed must not borrow to pay salary. Not only is Comrade Governor not borrowing when other states are doing so, He has set a standard in the country for being the only Governor that is paying N25,000.00 as a minimum wage, when most Governors in Oil Rich Niger Delta Region are owing salaries ranging from 5, 6, 8, 10, 13 months respectively. What this has shown is that Oshimole is a blessing to the people of Edo State. This is because He was not elected by the people to lament, but to provide the leadership which the state has lacked over the years. It stands to reason that the Comrade Governor and His team of administrators led by the past and current SSG and His economic adviser led by Dr Godwin Obaseki were genius in management of the affairs of Edo people. They will not satisfy everybody, but with continuation of those agenda by someone who is inside the government is a very big advantage. Back to the issue of discussion, from a more perspective, Chief Lucky’s revelations, hint at illegalities, particularly on account of the implied non-official nature of the process, which is why they have the character of disclosure. Apparently, the stated deals were known only to a closed ring of collaborators ( Chief Luck, Pastor SSG, Esama and Chief Anenih), outside the view of lawful institutional structures that should otherwise be aware of, if not endorse such course of action. Some people were wondering what these old generals were doing at Our Pastor Campaign flag off. They are the one to coordinate the campaigns, so that they may likely get the monies they borrowed Chief Lucky back since Comrade Governor has refused to dance to their tones. From the look of things, Chief Igbinedion manifested not only social anxiety, but perhaps also a sense of guilt. Seven years after he left office following two four-year terms from 1999-2007, he seems to have suddenly awakened to the fact that his track record needed clarification, especially in the light of superlatively superior governmental performance by Comrade Adams Oshimole, who is on the final stage of his government, with a agenda: FINISHING WELL. Indeed, Chief Luck’s power years pale into insignificance, expect as a model of ineptitude when compared with Oshimole’s tenure, which is widely acclaimed as demonstrative of good governance and an example of competent administration. Moreover against this background, it is possible that Chief Luck may have a guilty conscience for frittering away his time in power, which is general acknowledged as an era of wastefulness and wasted opportunities of Edo State. Sadly, he cannot turn the hands of clock, but he believes he can use our Pastor to get what is left for them in Edo State or if possible recover those monies they borrowed without following the due process. Chief Lucky’s defensiveness mirrored a subconscious burden conveyed by his words. “for you to loot, he declared,” there must be something. Edo state had no money”. This latter logic is contradicted by the fact that in January 2008, he was declared wanted by EFCC concerning 142 counts of financial fraud. Specifically, he was alleged to have embezzled 24 MILLION DOLLARS using front companies and he gave himself up in the same month. Furthermore, in December 2008 he was convicted by the Federal High Court, Enugu, on corruption related charges. He was actually fined 3.5 MILLION NAIRA after peading guilty to a one-count charge of neglecting to make a declaration of his interest in account in a new generation bank. So Edo people, hope you are reading this. Astoundingly, Chief Lucky said,” if anything, it is EDO State that owes me money and not me owing EDO State”. If the borrowing and the lending were open only to him and his collaborators, as the picture he painted suggested, it is intriguing that he has an obviously misplaced sense of the state government’s financial indebtedness to him. It is unclear whether he implied that he also lent money to the state, which he did not recover before he left office. If he did lend the money on his path at that time, what his occupation and monthly salary income before he became a Governor. This character took hyperbole to a new heights with his claims that somewhere along the line, he got tired of the office of the Governor and desired to quit before the end of his tenure, which would have been unprecedented in the country’s political history and earned him a place in the pantheon of frustrated patriots, if he could be dignified by such description. Then he somersaulted, uttering words that expressed absolute nonsense. :first and foremost, ”he began,” you do not have the money to do some projects you want to do even though there was no way I would have completed the projects with the whole money in the whole world”. Tragically, this declaration unveiled his unpreparedness for helmsmanship as well as fundamental visionlessness. Without intending to do so, he also betrayed the fact that he ran a government of uncompleted projects, meaning that he left a legacy, if it could be so called, of inchoateness, which amounts to nothing. This article is not a propaganda issue; I want you to look for his interview on the Nation newspaper 12th and 13th May, 2014. I leave you to judge more from that side. Onething that is very clear in this Election, the two major candidates has been in power before now. One served as SSG to Chief Luck and the other as Chief Economic Adviser to Comrade Governor. It is also on records that the Chief Economic Adviser to the Comrade Governor never collected a salary for those eight years. What a man of impeccable integrity. Putting Edo State first, before his personal gains. I have not seen a leader like this. The good people of Edo state, I am leaving you to make your choice. Are you to move forward or backward? Your vote will determine that. I rest my case. Trash! So long a letter, The writer is the man that wipes Oshomhole 's ass and flushes his toilet. Edo Don tire of una lies and propaganda. |
Why is op confusing us with this heading? The stay of execution from the report was granted based on the cooperation of Dr Ogah's counsel, Izinyon. Though Abang was not happy that Ikpeazu rushed to the Court of Appeal on a matter he could have dealt with, he still went ahead and grants the stay of execution. |
promixdavinci:The op is very myopic! Like the ostrich, you are burying your head in the sand and exposing the other parts of your body. Some of the names you mentioned above are northerner. Except if you are saying every northern christian is now a southerner. The NNPC man, Andrew Yakubu is from Kaduna state; Nafdac, Noa men are from Benue; Industrial Training Fund DG, prof Wapmuk is from Plateau, etc. Besides majority of the appointment you listed are all 3rd grade, except Nnpc. During Jonathan time the Vice president, Senate president, Speaker of HoR, Chief Justice of the Federation, most of the service chiefs, Nsa, Principal Secretary,IGP, nnpc GMDs, Cg Custom, etc where northerners. Besides how many of the people you mentioned are of Jonathan's ethnic (Ijaw) group? My brother, according to Bob Marley, we don't want peace; we need equal right and justice! |
Let us think of the Deputy
President of the Nigerian
Senate as, like a co-pilot. His
hands are on the same lever
with the president of the
senate, navigating the
nation through the storms of
nation-build. That is right:
nation-building does not
happen at the executive
office, it happens in the
chambers of the nation’s
legislative houses.
This is a fairly clear axiom of
democracy: without the
parliament, there is no
republic. It is the parliament
that legitimizes a free
democratic state. It is the
very source of all powers of
governance. The parliament
of the land is the most
powerful institution of state,
not the office of president,
as most Nigerians, still
steeped in military-era
mentality tend to think. The
President is a servant of the
elected, and constituted
National Assembly.
While the National Assembly
is both the voice, the ears,
and the eyes of the public in
the system of democratic
rule. They do not answer to
any other person – neither
to the courts nor to the
president – but to the
people. That is why,
whenever there is a coup,
the first institution that is
abolished is the parliament
of the land. For as long as
the parliament is in session,
the nation exists. But
wherever a parliament is
abolished, the nation goes
into a hiatus. In that
instance, the president
answers to no one. That is
the meaning of absolutism.
The only power parliament
accounts to is the people. I
need to emphasize this
again. Which is why I was
both startled and personally
horrified this past week on
reading the silly letter to the
US Congress, the EU, the
UK, and the UN, by the
Deputy president of senate,
Mr. Ike Ekweremadu,
complaining that Nigeria’s
democracy is threatened. I
am horrified that the
Nigerian press that
consented to dignify such a
middling letter by publishing
it, did not go, as part of its
obligation to the public, to
ask Mr. Ekweremadu what
he expected the UN, the US
Congress, the UK, and the
EU to do with his letter of
complaint.
I do not especially recall that
the Speaker of the UK
Parliament wrote to Nigeria,
or the AU, or the US
Congress, or the UN when
the “Yes” vote carried on
the Brexit referendum, or
whenever the Labour
Opposition fought with the
ruling Conservative party in
the Commons. Nor have I
even heard, or seen any
self-respecting African
nation misusing its
sovereign mandate so much
as Nigerians in making such
silly appeals to the
“international community.”
Yes, Africans now call
Nigeria: “the big fool.” It is
such a remarkable
transition, from the “giant of
Africa” to the “big fool of
Africa” because Nigerian
public officials are colonized,
sanitized, hypnotized, and
perhaps in fact, lobotomized
so much that they
misconstrue their place on
the world stage.
Nigeria is currently an
inferior nation because she
is run by inferior men and
women. Many of us feel
utterly ashamed by the
quality of individuals that we
have managed to hand over
the sovereign mandate, and
it is my view that the full
measure of Ike
Ekweremadu as a legislator
and politician can be taken
in the weight and
significance of his letter.
The US Congress or the UK
government or the UN does
not have voting rights in
Nigeria. Ike Ekweremadu did
not write to his constituents
whom he represents in
Enugu, nor to the Nigerian
people, whose views and
actions, and interests,
matter in this question. He
did not write a straight and
unambiguous letter to the
president to back off. He did
not write to his legislative
colleagues to drive home
the necessity of protecting
the republic from the
intrusion of a rampaging
elephant in a China shop.
He wrote to some alien
powers whose opinions are
really inconsequential to
whatever might become of
this rapidly evolving
situation. And I’m sorry to
say that Ekweremadu’s
letter only proves that he
has no business wearing the
shoes of mighty men.
He has also proved the
average Nigerian politicians
utter disrespect of the
Nigerian electorate from
whom they derive their
mandates. He has also
demonstrated that he lacks
a basic grasp of the nature
of his own mandate as a
senator of the republic.
Perhaps I should outline this
basically by saying that the
president’s actions, for
instance, in these anti-
corruption probes, usurps
the power of the legislature.
President Buhari has no
mandate to probe
corruption or misuse of
public funds.
The only institution
mandated by the
constitution to probe any
person or any institution of
government is the National
Assembly and the various
Houses of Assembly. Here is
what the Nigerian
constitution says without
ambiguity: “ 85. (1) There
shall be an Auditor-General
for the Federation who shall
be appointed in accordance
with the provisions of
section 86 of this
Constitution.
(2) The public accounts of
the Federation and of all
offices and courts of the
Federation shall be audited
and reported on to the
Auditor-General who shall
submit his reports to the
National Assembly; and for
that purpose, the Auditor-
General or any person
authorised by him in that
behalf shall have access to
all the books, records,
returns and other
documents relating to those
accounts.
(3) Nothing in subsection (2)
of this section shall be
construed as authorising the
Auditor-General to audit the
accounts of or appoint
auditors for government
statutory corporations,
commissions, authorities,
agencies, including all
persons and bodies
established by an Act of the
National Assembly, but the
Auditor-General shall -
(a) provide such bodies with
-
(i) a list of auditors qualified
to be appointed by them as
external auditors and from
which the bodies shall
appoint their external
auditors, and
(ii) guidelines on the level of
fees to be paid to external
auditors; and
(b) comment on their annual
accounts and auditor's
reports thereon.
(4) The Auditor-General shall
have power to conduct
checks of all government
statutory corporations,
commissions, authorities,
agencies, including all
persons and bodies
established by an Act of the
National Assembly.
(5) The Auditor-General
shall, within ninety days of
receipt of the Accountant-
General's financial
statement, submit his
reports under this section to
each House of the National
Assembly and each House
shall cause the reports to be
considered by a committee
of the House of the National
Assembly responsible for
public accounts.
(6) In the exercise of his
functions under this
Constitution, the Auditor-
General shall not be subject
to the direction or control of
any other authority or
person.”
The National Assembly can
also summon anybody
before it, including the
president of the republic, as
well as cause the removal of
anybody from office by
impeachment, including the
president or his Attorney
General. The National
Assembly can mandate the
Attorney General to try the
president for treason, if it
finds the president to be a
threat to the republic. The
National Assembly can
defund the office of the
Attorney General, the EFCC
or any statutory office of
government, or cause it to
go into abeyance.
The National Assembly can
stop the functions of the
federal government by de-
authorizing any presidential
expenditure. That is the
extent of the power of the
legislature. With regards to
the current distraction of
trial for “forgery” of the
president and deputy
president of senate, one is
thoroughly shocked that
these gentlemen consented
to appear in court! No court
of the land has the authority
to summon any legislator to
court on questions around
procedures, discussions, or
actions carried out within
the chambers of the
National Assembly. This is
the practice all over the
world.
The allegation of “forgery”
of senate rules is a
distraction because the rules
of senate are subject to
change, and is what it is,
when a sitting senate votes
to use, amend, or discard it
as the case may be, as its
guiding frame. It is not
subject to the intrusion of
any court, much less the
presumption of crime by the
Attorney General.
This, Mr. Ekweremadu and
Dr.Saraki ought to know,
and should be properly
advised, as an act honoring
their mandate, to desist
from appearing any further
before any courts on this
matter, and take charge of
their legislative duties. Vanguardngr 3/7/2016 |
Its N4800 in Gwagwalada Abuja for 12.5kg from the N3500 I bought last month. God save us! |
teadrake:You are very wrong my friend! If president Buhari and and vice president Osinbajo are asked to appear in court on matters that can cause their removal from office, the executive arm is the target. These guys are not just senators. They are the senate leaders. Without them you are indirectly shutting down the senate. By the way they are two senators not four. |
All these so called men of integrity ( Buhari's appointees) will be his down fall. This Ugep man, Obla talks like the illiterate he is. May be he is suffering from the human flesh he consumed in the past! |
ABUJA- PRESIDENT
Muhammadu Buhari Friday
tendered an unreserved
apology to the Senate over
statements by his Special
Assistant to President
Muhammadu Buhari on
Prosecution, Okoi Obono-
Oblo that the Senate lacked
the powers to summon
Attorney-General of the
Federation (AGF) and
Minister of Justice, Mr.
Abubakar Malami to explain
why he dragged the Senate
President, Bukola Saraki,
Deputy Senate President,
Ike Ekweremadu and two
others to court over alleged
forgery of the Senate
Standing Order.
President Buhari faulted the
position of the the AGF,
stressing that as an
appointee of the President,
he was equally answerable
to the Senate, just as he
said that the statement
ought not to have been
made in the first place.
It would be recalled that the
AGF, for the second time on
Thursday, shunned the
summon of Senate to
explain why he dragged the
Senate President, Bukola
Saraki, Deputy Senate
President, Ike Ekweremadu
and two others to court over
alleged forgery of the
Senate Standing Order.
Buhari's Special Assistant on
Public Prosecution, Okoi
Obono-Oblo and in the office
of the AGF who appeared
before the Senator David
Umaru, APC Niger East led
Senate Committee on
Judiciary, Human Rights and
Legal Matters had
lampooned the Senate,
saying that the red
chambers lacked the powers
to summon the Minister of
Justice over a matter that
was already in a competent
court of law.
President Buhari spoke
through his Special Assistant
on National Assembly
Matters (Senate), Senator
Ita Enang.
Addressing Journalists,
barely twenty- four hours
after the Presidential aide
took a swipe at the Senate
that the Presidency had no
confidence on the Senate
Committee on Judiciary,
Human Rights and Legal
Matters, Senator Enang said
that there was no way the
Attorney General of the
federation and Minister of
Justice will not respect the
Senators because the
lawmakers screened and
cleared the ministers as
ministerial nominees. |

catching the thieves have
become thieves over
night as a result of the
temptation that comes with
the huge sums of
foreign currency involved.
The Office of the National
Security Adviser, currently
occupied by
Babagana Monguno and
Minister of Defence, Alhaji Dan
Ali have both been
fingered in the scandal
involving the Presidential
Investigative Committee
on Arms Procurement after the
Department of State Services
(DSS) arrested
one of its member, Air
Commodore Umar Muhammed
(rtd) over the $2.1 million
arms procurement scam.
It was gathered that the
arrested committee member
who voluntarily sang to
the delight of investigators
indicted both men as key
influence in the
syndicate.
The latest fraud involving
persons serving the current
government has
raised concerns about the
sincerity of the ongoing anti-
corruption fight
since the committee was itself
set up to investigate the theft
of funds
meant for buying weapons to
fight Boko Haram terrorists
under the previous
government.
According to a petition
obtained from the Department
of State Security
Service through our source, a
group of Nigerians through the
Nigeria
Concerned Citizen Assembly
(NCCA), which expressed
outrage at the
involvement of high ranking
administration officials in the
latest scam
has now asked the DSS to
widen its probe as it warned
that the sincerity
of the agency in carrying out
the investigation would be a
test of the
commitment of President
Muhammadu Buhari’s
government’s to its campaign
promise to tackle corruption.
Our source further hinted that
both men have been making
frantic efforts
to use some highly placed
citizens to sweep the
allegations under the
carpet but the no nonsense
Director General of the Service
has vowed that
full forensic investigations
must be carried out and
culprits brought to
book irrespective of their
situations.
The assembly, in a letter to the
Director General of DSS asked
the secret
police to look higher up the
chain of command to those
that Air Commodore
Muhammed (rtd) answered to
because the fraud committed
in the committee
was more widespread than
reported.
The letter by NCCA’s convener,
Dr Abraham Odukoya, dated
June 27th 2016
revealed that the Minister of
Defence, Alhaji Dan Ali resides
in a
N3.2billion Abuja property
belonging to the arrested
committee member with
suggestions that the he
answers to the minister.
“It may interest you to know
that Air Commodore
Muhammed (rtd) owns a
guest house valued at N3.2
Billion within the highbrow
area of the FCT
-Abuja whereat he plays host
to the Minister of Defence who
actually
attained his present position
due to the influence of Air
Commodore
Muhammed. This is a clear
indication that the allegation
that the duo are
collaborators in crime and
benefited from the arms
procurement fraud may
not be false after all,” the
letter reads.
The group which said the DSS
could be on the verge of
making history in
the anti-corruption war given
the calibre of those it is
currently
investigating noted that the
linking of the Minister of
Defence in the
scam has made the
investigation “sophisticated,
expensive and demanding”
such that the department must
now become deliberate in its
actions.
There are concerns that the
ONSA and Minister of Defence
are already using
their clout and connections to
block the investigation after
the level of
their involvement was
revealed. Both men who were
totally bankrupt prior
to their appointments have
become millionaires overnight
in less than one
year into the administration,
acquiring choice properties in
and out of
Abuja unloving to many that
the have dipped their fingers
into the
treasury.
NCCA expressed concerns that
“highly placed individuals”
were out to
scuttle the investigation given
the concerted efforts they
have been
making in this regard since the
arrest of Air Commodore
Muhammed (rtd).
The group which backed the
arrests made by the DSS
insisted that the
agency must conduct a
thorough and impartial
investigation, “We are poised
now more than ever before to
kill this notion that high and
mighty persons
are above the law and cannot
be touched even when they
commit heinous
crimes.
“We at NCCA are solidly behind
you and call on you and the
entire
leadership of the DSS to
continue to distinguish
yourselves by ensuring
that you get to the bottom of
this arms procurement fraud in
such a manner
that no person, no matter how
highly placed, is left off the
hook,” it
demanded.
The assembly warned that
those involved in the fraud
could constitute the
greatest security threat to the
nation if they are allowed to
walk the
country free with the proceeds
of their crime. “The security
implication
of allowing those who have
looted such huge amount on of
money hang around
freely and perhaps even use
the monies to influence
decisions in Nigeria
is best analysed by your
office,” the letter declared.

So shameful that Femi Falana, a SAN could say that EFCC can freeze Nigerians bank accounts and obtain a court order later even when EFCC Act provided that a court order must be obtained (ex-parte) and made available to the bank manager before a bank account can be frozen. The Court Order is a condition precedent before a bank account can be frozen and Section 34 of the EFCC Act is very clear on this. It is unambiguous. If I may ask, was Falana called to Bar before he attended Law School and passed his Call-To-Bar Exams? Was Falana's LLB Certificate given to him before he got admission to the University? Was Falana's BL Certificate issued to him before he attended the Law School? Was Falana's Birth Certificate issued before he was born? Was Falana's Marriage Certificate issued before he got married to Sister Funmi? Has Falana ever travelled to UK or USA and obtained Visa later? Can I, Lere Olayinka, because I can now quote some laws begin to practice as a lawyer and go to University to study law later? Opinions of lawyers like Femi Falana are better left in the trash cans. Thank God, he was not made Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice. #Shame!!!!!! Lere Olayinka. |
nickxtra:You did your research and yet don't know the name of the 'a certain Lucky younger brother'. And when has an issue with Benin Traditional Council on 'nefarious and clandestine activities', become a conviction in a law court for corruption? My friend spreading rumour is a sin before God. Leave the Igbinedions out of this. The Edos want a change. |
nickxtra:And what does that tell you of Oshomhole's character? A fair weather friend! A good friend sticks with you in good and bad time. Talking of the conviction of the Igbinedions, only Lucky was convicted. That is in 2009. Ize Iyamu was Oshomhole's campaign DG in 2012. So when did Oshomhole turned his back on the Igbinedions? 2009 or 2012? Stop saying what you don't know my friend. |
It was the same Igbinedion that brought Oshomhole to power. When you people are pointing finger at others, four are pointed at you. It was this Ize Iyamu the Igbinedion used to bring Oshomhole to power. It was ok then. But an anomaly now. Bunch of hypocrite! The Edos can no more be deceived by inordinate propaganda! Let the Igbinedions give us Ize Iyamu. |
Long live Naija! |
He is building his house in Osun! From the money he scarvenged from Sambissa forest. I mean the one boko boys left behind as they run deeper in the forest. Blood money! That is why he couldn't hire labourers. Naja soldiers! Na today? |
Good one op. But how do I connect the battery to d ups, then to my appliances? |
ihatesycophant:You are the ignorant one here my friend! I said hobnobbing with pdp, not a member of pdp. As labour leader oshomhole was deceit personified. It was during his tenure that fuel price went from N11 to N70, that is more than 500% increase . He was deceiving the masses in the name of strikes while romancing with Obasanjo by agreeing to fuel price increases! He is master at propaganda. Don't forget his election in 2011 was sponsored by pdp's Yaradua. Oshomhole revealed that to Nigerians. |
The 16 years includes your tenure as NLC president and two term governor of Edo state. As labour leader, you were hobnobing with the PDP and as state governor, your raping of Edo commonwealth is legendary. When you point a finger at PDP, four are pointing at you, my lack of integrity Comrade. You and those that left pdp for apc lacks any moral ground to criticise pdp. Unfortunately, and rather shamelessly, it is your 'froggy' voice we hear often. Talk of empty barrels making the loudest noise! |
Thought loyalty should be to the nation. Else why is Buratai witch hunting those that were loyal to Jonathan's government? Does loyalty to Buhari's repressive govt translate to loyalty to the federal govt? |
