Christianity EtcRe: Exclusive Pictures Of Bishop David Oyedepo In His 4.2 Billion Naira Private Jet. by Elpieda: 3:05pm On Jun 03, 2011
I guess my only concern right now reading a lot the comments here is wondering the major reason why people worship God? Are you worshiping God because of the material blessings you hope to receive and financial prosperity? Or are you serving God because of WHO he is? Food for thought.

Those who quote the passage that says the blessings of God maketh rich and added no sorrow need to take a deeper look at that verse and read it in context. The term rich does not always refer to material and financial wealth. But because we live in such a materialistic world, blessings are always attributed to financial wealth and other "stuff"

We Christians need to be very careful with our unquenchable thirst for material riches. Just because someone is financially rich don't equate to the person being happy. It also doesn't equate to the person having peace of mind.

Am just wondering and thinking out loud, for all those who are financially prosperous, If God told us to give out all our wealth and come serve him in a certain humbling capacity, how many of us will give it up? Your answer to that question helps you find out who your "god" is.

Im bothered that i used to bother myself that I am the only one who gets bothered but reading through this has made me realize that jeez everyone worries,

Reading this thread made me realize something just now. Life is just like a call center, there is always one challenge holding on the next line. Some challenges you solve easily but then there are some you have to refer to other departments and yet again there are some you just cant do anything about and you just have to let it go,

God will teach us to cast our burdens to him and lay it down at his feet, every care we carry,

PoliticsPresident Obama Releases Birth Certificate by Elpieda(op): 3:23pm On Apr 27, 2011
(CNN) – President Obama released his original birth certificate Wednesday, saying the controversy surrounding the issue had become a "sideshow."

“We do not have time for this kind of silliness. We’ve got better stuff to do," said Obama.

The surprise release follows recent and sustained remarks by businessman Donald Trump, among others, that raised doubts as to whether the president was born in the United States.

“Over the last two and half years, I have watched with amusement. I have been puzzled with the degree with which this thing just kept going,” Obama told reporters Wednesday.

So I am just wondering. Did all the other past US Presidents have to go through this public scrutiny or does this just have something major to do with the color of his skin and the fact that America cannot just accept that a smart and intelligent black man like Obama can rule that great country? Forget all his shortcomings but please Americans need to cut this guy some slack
NYSCRe: Petition To Withdraw Youth Corpers From Violent Northern Nigerian States. by Elpieda: 9:52pm On Apr 22, 2011
The concept of the NYSC is a noble and good one but at the same time, the safety of the corpers need to be adequately taken care of. I enjoyed my time serving in Yobe State and if I could do it all over again, I will but at the same time its saddening to see the vast majority of lives that have been lost. This is not good at all. Yeah it may seem biased that we are advocating only for the corpers when there are other non NYSC members who have lost their lives. Either make the NYSC a voluntary program, or figure out a way to enhance the security of members or totally abolish the program.
PoliticsRe: Would The South Be Peaceful If Jonathan Was Rigged Out by Elpieda: 9:41pm On Apr 22, 2011
So as all of you have finished bashing and cursing each other, what good has that done and how many of those who have gone have been resurrected? None, Exactly, Your are trying to find solutions to a major issue by creating more problems, Here are people complaining about the Northerners but the words I see some people throwing out on this forum is equally as bad as the killings going on, None of you here have offered any constructive solutions. Just anger hatred and disgust, In the coming days, life will go on and guess what, nothing absolute nothing will be achieved. An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth is not the answer. The problem with Nigerians is Nigerians themselves. You complain about everything and anything but yet none of your complaints are bringing any solutions. I dont know the solution to save this country. All I can do is keep praying and working on people to change their backward mentality.

May God help Nigerians,
ComputersRe: Which Is Your Favourite Browser? by Elpieda: 5:28pm On Feb 02, 2011
I dont have a best, I use 3 main browser and all for different reasons.

Firefox: It opens up some websites quicker and has some good add-ons

IE8: Now there are so many online applications I make use of that can only work with IE8 and so many forms I need to fill online that require you to have IE, Its also best when I need to watch online Naija movies, It helps my videos stream fater with minimal amounts of error

Safari: I love it cause my personal laptop is a MAc Book Pro. Its fast and will pick it over Firefox, I actually like FIrefox the least.
FamilyRe: Husband Slapped Me Over An Argument by Elpieda: 5:50pm On Jan 21, 2011
@OP all i can sya is ehyah, I guessed from the moment i saw ur post that you are not a Nigerian, Cause Nigerian women barely act that way, Our culture teaches us total respect for your husband and total submission in such a way that he may seem like he is the one calling the shots but in actual fact, you are the one calling the shots wink

I dont expect you to agree with what everyone has said cause clearly your culture teaches you diferently. It like expecting a nigerian to run his/her marriage the way a lot of americans do, That will most likely not happen cause we are all raised differently.

But I must tell you CC and some others are so right, As different as our cultures may seem, getting across to your man is as simple as apologizing, this is your marriage and not a competition cause it seems to me like you are competing with your husband for God knows what. Husbands are supposed to love their wives and women are supposed to submit, get rid of whatever feminist theory you may have acquired and go and be the life of your marriage, SUBMIT and apologize.

Also I have to le tyou know that since you both married as virgins, sexual fulfillment is not automatic. It takes time patience and a whole lot of experimenting with each other to discover what will make you both tick. So give it time and invest a lot in pre-intimacy. May GOd guide you, Dont leave yet
RomanceRe: Nigerian Virgin Girls - Keeping Our Virginity by Elpieda: 11:14pm On Dec 22, 2010
@scorpion, yeah you are right and i agree with you, a lot of men put pressures on these girls claiming thats the best way to express love and what not and girls too agree to their advances and end up disvirgined, the blame is on both sides, women need to raise their standards in men and set boundaries for themselves, I once dated a guy who kept begging for sex and for me, anytime am in a dating relationship, the moment the guy makes the mistake of asking for sex, am out, cos i believe am worth more than that and my dad taught me better about the way men are and did a good job helping me build my self-esteem so that i dont drop my standards in men,

Also men need to be more disciplined and self controlled and not always let the man in the middle think for them.Yes they are moved by what they see but man has been given a will and he can control that will and not put pressure on us women.
RomanceRe: Nigerian Virgin Girls - Keeping Our Virginity by Elpieda: 10:56pm On Dec 22, 2010
@scorpion, Yes virginity does not guarantee happiness in marriage but someone whoo keeps her/himself till marriage and also seeks to develop his/her character at the same time is commendable, hard to find but it exists,

HTown Eve:
You have a right to your opinion and I respect that.
Sorry your statement above shows some form of illiteracy.   sad
If virginity is such a virtue that makes you such a disciplined and wonderful person, why are you partaking in disrespecting Omolola1 above?

Whether you are a virgin or not is okay.  That is your cup of tea.  Why do you want an accolade for it?  Let me ask you this, do you self service?  I ask because it is biological for a human to be turned on.  You are dead if you don't or have never been a.roused sexually.  Just biological facts.
madam htown i never disrespected omolola, i laughed at a comment someone said about her so hows dat a big dealhuhwe are all commenting and whther u like it or not, virginity is a sign of VIRTUE, DISCIPLINE and SELF CONTROL, does that mean u are better than anyone else?NO but it is what it is, u have ur opinion and I have mine and dats just how life is,

RomanceRe: Nigerian Virgin Girls - Keeping Our Virginity by Elpieda: 6:36pm On Dec 22, 2010
@voilent, and to those girls who have lost their virginity kudos to them but they should not condemn the girls who chose to keep theirs and dats my whole freaking point, call it old tradition or whatever, the fact remains some girls choose to keep thiers and if society chooses to commend them so be it, and for those who dont think its in fashion to keep it anymore thats their own opinion, i never for once condemend them, i just hate the stereotypes that people place on girls choosing to be virgins,

@missy B I know for certain that these "halle-berry looking girls" are cause I know and we all grew up together, Its a trust thing and based on the friendship and honest communication we all have with each other, I know, and though this is none of your business but am also one and freaking proud of it, doesnt make me any better than anyone but i still wont sit and let people condemn me for choosing to keep it
RomanceRe: Why Do You Want To Get Married? by Elpieda(op): 6:12pm On Dec 22, 2010
@dayokanu yep a lot of "non spiritual people" get married and i cannot determine what rules they choose to follow, some of the atheist i know get married because in their opinion it is mentioned in the bible and the quran, and for others they follow the rules of society, parents, culture, and other pressures expect them to get married so they follow those rules, so different reasons for different people, definitely not everyone has to go by my own spiritual definition
