Ideally, If you wont get anyone to help you, then make sure you understand the principle behind one clinical routine. See if you can link it with your uni work. . . that is the best option I can think off for a week's experience.

Yeah am aware of how the co-terminus thing work. Let's just say you guys are cheating.   Mine was a straight degree, then have to run around trying to get experience. . . .  Any how, since the presentation is based on work expereince, what you need is to get your mentor , or whoever you are assigned to show you how some routines are carried out. Use this routine to form the basis of your presentation and then incorporate your lecture into it.

For example look at blood disorders affecting immigrants etc - NHS specifically run test for this - link it with your notes in Uni [This is usually in most text book you use] then make your move from there. Any more question, and I would be charging you.

Two months work is not enough to do your portfolio am afraid.   You need at least a year, or in most case two. I guess the portfolio you are referring to is the on for your course and not the whole thing for the IBMS/HPC.

Look at various topic you have been taught. Then you consider what is expected of you, how long the presentation should last, what materials to use - board, power point or a combination of both.  Ideally, you would be given a list and then you can take from it.

One of the popular topics usually evolves round blood disorders. This can be easily presented on a board and several point based explanation made on your part. For microbiology, look at a life cycle of a known organism that have health implications etc. . . . You could get specific and more detailed, but Ideally your presentation would last a max of 10-15mins. Meaning you may not have all the time to dwell into certain areas.

Remember that you would have to work at least 3months in each area or so before you complete your IBMS/HPC registration portfolio.

Basically, I'm a BMS student and trying to complete my portfolio. Part of that involves a presentation, ive decided to go for haematology, biochemistry or microbiology.
Are you in any of these sections? if you are, I'll just like to know what you think should be in my presentation

Your presentation should have a guideline on what is expected of you.

I work in any of the above - one have to be multi-disciplinary these days.

By the way, which degree is yours, a co-terminus one or similar?

What I was trying to say is that given what appears to be that Russia and China have constantly stopped anything major happening to NK via there veto votes down at the UN, surely they (china and Russia) should be able to deal with issues like this when the occassion comes?

I think the whole world cannot keep feeding a nation, eventually something have to give. A friend of a friend went there some years back, and some of the photos just shows that the entire nation stopped in time. Some of the landscapes images looks like something from a dooms day movie set and props. (I guess some would blame the west for this)

I suppose it depends on what camp you are on.

A few nation in Africa still have a systematic form of slavery still going on. The government largely turns a blind eye to this. It is a well known issue with nations having black Africans and Arab-Africans as her citizens

This issue have been discussed before and from what I can recollect, the government and religion institution have all been implicated.

With all your assertions, you are yet to state how non compliance with an act equates to being guilty of the crime as you imply in your posts.

I would love to think an extensive research and consultations on many levels was probably carried out. From where I stand, how hard would it be for a nation to implement those basic standards? To be fair, a nation as standard should have laws against trafficking. If this is lacking, then it is a fair move to deemed then probably "guilty" of flouting the basic laws. Or do you not agree? At least, this would politically motivate them to do something about what is perceived as a lax in their own laws [i.e offending nations]
