Bkbabe.

One, I did mention the word IF at the very start of my post.

Two, anyone with a bit of common sense can see why your post may be taken as such. (something you alluded to already)

Three, no need to reply to your insult and delusions. You already pointed out and admitted that your post may be seen as a reply to my original post. I think that is the issue right there.

Four, if you comments ain't directed at me like you are claiming, here is my apology - I apologize.

How come folks like you cannot call a spade a spade?

He received information that was taken illegally, and now he appears to be ready to use it to hold justice and truth to ransom. The very thing he claimed to be fighting for in the first place via disclosing sensitive data. Wtf!

He just released into public domain, information that can be potentially used by terrorist etc but I guess this is fine by you isnt?

It will be interesting to see how he gets out of the catch 22 he is fast finding himself. Only time will tell.

So Julian Assange is refusing to go to Sweden to answer the case against him of sexual molestation/rape? Surely, he's got nothing to hide. huh

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-11921080

Wikileaks founder Julian Assange will fight attempts to take him to Sweden to face rape allegations, his lawyer said.

Mark Stephens told the BBC that legal moves against his client seemed to be a "political stunt" by a state that allowed US rendition flights.

He warned Wikileaks could release more secrets in a bid to protect itself.

A Swedish arrest warrant for Mr Assange was issued on Thursday. It comes amid the phased Wikileaks release of some 250,000 US diplomatic secret messages.

The warrant to interview the journalist - thought currently to be in the UK - concerns alleged sexual crimes during a visit to Sweden in August.

But Mr Stephens told the BBC's Andrew Marr that the entire case against Mr Assange had been dropped by Sweden's chief prosecutor in September.

He said it was only "after the intervention of a Swedish politician" that a new prosecutor in Gothenburg - not Stockholm, where his client and two women had been - began a new case.

It resulted in the current warrants, and an Interpol notice being issued. His client denies the allegations.
So he is now using the data that was illegally handed to him as a bargain chip so as not to go to Sweden to face trial?

Smh.

So in other words, your argument get ripped apart and you have nothing worth while posting. Nice.

There are many website claiming to invent existing technology and what not, the UK is powerless to do anything as some are hosted in nations where UK cannot do anything.

Again simple common sense, no one get arrested for claiming they invented something. Problem arises when similar products are now made and market for commercial reasons. Emageali made verbal claims and hence why there wasnt much trouble.

Dude stop letting your emotions get the better of you. Your hero appeared to have mislead people with his claims and now records are being set straight. Please deal with it.

If you claim to be in agreement with me, why are we arguing, or you think I should give you a pat on the head for tearing down Emeagwali, while not having any understanding of how Intellectual Property matters are dealt with?

. . .Every Tom wants to join a mob and and bay for blood.
Seem you are running out of steam. Let me give you something to talk about.

I asked you to point me to a law that say I cannot verbally make claim that I invented something.

This is what Emageali has done over the years. You accepted this in your very own statement, but seem to have a problem when authorities are coming out and demolishing his claims of inventing this and that for them.

To illustrate this, I gave you several examples using MS W7 that I can lay claim to invent it and not be in trouble, but will be in trouble if I now create a program for commercial purpose that is based on or copied from W7 source code.

Again I gave you further illustrations using the iconic Ak47 and Playstation portables. Something that appears to go over your head.

Just in case you are not getting it, here is a final break down in simple English:

Emaegwali made verbal claims,  he got away with it. When attention was drawn to him, his claims were busted as misleading.

You see no one is doubting his intelligence, but we doubt his claims (which has been shown to be misleading and you accept this)

Now tell me again, what is your problem?

Dude, sometimes people make arguments that are so flawed that there is no point engaging. Its like if you are a good chess player and someone who doesn't know the basic strategies challenges you, you laugh and walk off. Your arguments were horribly flawed, I mean really horribly.

Please, look up "Intellectual Property" and deal with this wretched statement you made:

How could a person making statements like the above possibly think they have what it takes to pull a man like Emeagwali down, regardless of his lies and deceptions?
I repeat, Emeagwali has something that is highly valued in nations that know where they are going. He has a damn good brain.
I see my question goes unanswered. Please point me to where a law says I cannot lay claim verbally to inventing the playstation portable? I bet you cannot do this.

You are not a chess player, your point and manner of debating shows this already. Your debates are nothing but pure emotions lacking logic.

See what I mean as to how you are weak to try and counter my view points? Who is trying to bring him down? I am merely stating what is in the news and general acceptance. In your own words you stated that:

Thanks man, I 100% agree with you that thats the way to go.

Sorry, I wasn't having a go at you. But seriously, you havent the slightest clue what you are talking about. Don't be offended, please.

Emeagwali has been a very public face for decades. He has been on the cover of Time Magazine, dude, his claims have been out there for all to see. ExxonMobile is not some Dugbe market company, such companies know wagwan long before the man on the streets learns about it; a multi-national is a mini country.

Emeagwali has only been dumped because his own country spat on him. You can call him liar, wayward or anything, but he is extremly intelligent.
In countries with a sense of direction, intelligence is gold.
In  debates around here, it is all well and good to score a brownies points while not refuting the points raised.  You sir, are doing the same thing right now.

You claimed I do not know what I am talking about, yet you are yet to defend against what I said. Smh.

Like I mentioned to you, anyone can lay claim to inventing anything if the public are gullible enough to believe the person. There is no law to my knowledge stopping me from saying I invented the AK47 and I helped the Russian with it.   Do you not understand this?

Emeagwali did just this. He did it for years and managed to get away with it.

I noted you are now quick to say he is intelligent etc. Who says he isn't? His intelligence probably contributed to why he got away with making massive and misleading claims in the first place.

So he appeared on the front of Time magazine and that means what to the point at hand?  Bart Simpson ( a fictional character) Elvis (Known for his love for drugs) etc also appeared in the Times in the past, so boo hoo cry me a river.

The fact remains, anyone can make a claim to inventing anything and get away with it. How many times, con-men have been celebrated without the majority of the public being aware in history?    Please drop your straw-man argument.  Emagwali appeared to have made misleading claims and now the records are been set straight, so what is your problem?
Music/RadioRe: Hiphop "beefs" Good Or Bad? by ElRazur(op): 11:47am On Dec 05, 2010
I see your points on the Biggie v Pac thing. We do not know for sure the real details (I am aware the Police office who allegedly shot him is known and what not) But, we cannot ignore that the "Beefs" do not play a part.

As part the point your raised, I already covered them by saying ". . . where some one must announce his arrival in the music industry via dissing another established name. " Don't get me wrong your points are valids in some aspect and at the same time, it will be a bit of a generalisation to suggest all beefs are manufactured. I very much doubt the examples I listed are. In recent memory, Jigga and Nas beef was more an ego thing. Both had it all going on well for them before the beef etc.

Again I have to stress that I agree with you. Lol@soul ja boy.

Now the question is, do you think it is good for hip hop as a form of marketing gimmick?
PoliticsRe: Immortalizing Bawolomo On Nairaland by ElRazur: 11:37am On Dec 05, 2010
Bluetooth

People barely get involve in each other's business here. It is a social thing and probably not a good one in my opinion.

As of yesterday or so, it was in the paper that a 72 year old man collapsed on the road side here in London (In the snow ffs) and he was there for several hours, despite people walking past and people driving past. Eventually, someone stopped and he was taken to hospital, his temperature dropped to around 27degree (Normal human body is around 35.6 - 37.4 or so)

So there you go. It is a "Social thing".

Once you hear gun shots a few times, live in a high crime area, you will soon learn to keep your own safety paramount first.

Guy, look up "Intellectual Property." You simply don't know what you are talking about.

All big companies maintain departments and lawyers that manage their portfolio in micro detail. Go mess around with a patent that remotely resembles anything that ExxonMobil has in its portfolio and see how long it takes to recieve a letter from their lawyers in English only Soyinka can deal with.
Patent litigations in the US cost hundreds of millions and ExxonMobil aren't so daft that they play games with that sort of money and become a cash cow for patent trolls.
Smh.

Dude, I respect the fact that you are keen on defending Emeagwali.  Please read what I am saying and try to comprehend before you have a go at me, sir.

If I remember correctly, his claims were he "helped" invented some of the technology they use. As far as IP goes, you can claim to "help invent" as long as you do not actually go out and infringe on such technologies via making something similar.

You see as it stand, I can present a lecture and claim to invent Microsoft Windows 7 program, but I will be looking for trouble if I now make an OS based on Windows 7.

Over all, Emeagwali was able to get around for a long time with his claims, and once it was made known to the authorities they issued a statement rejecting his claims. Now, if he goes on making those claims, then he may be in trouble.   You see no company is out there listening to what people say, but they do have lawyers who keep an eye on the patent office to see if people are infringing on existing patent etc.  Gosh.

Please calm down before you have a go again. Thanks.

PoliticsRe: Exxonmobil, Others Disown Emeagwali by ElRazur: 11:04am On Dec 05, 2010
ExxonMobil are there to make money, and not to keep tabs on people claiming they invented something for them.

It is not uncommon here in the UK to hear con-men who lay claim to be member of the royal family and con people out of money. Are you saying you expect the royal family for example, to go out of their way to verify every one? They will probably issue a statement when such person is brought to their attention lol

It appears exconmobil did just that in this case. Issued a statement when they were aware of Emeagwali claims.
Music/RadioHiphop "beefs" Good Or Bad? by ElRazur(op): 10:56am On Dec 05, 2010
It is clear to see that loads of poster here appear to be keen on beef and war of words of some kind. I am just wondering if people can give an insight as to why the interest in this pure form of lyrical hatred and dislike is gaining momentum?

Don't get me wrong, I was a former fan of beef from the days of Grand Master Flash using subtle diss to aim shots at rival etc down to Tupac and Biggie which eventually turned ugly in real life more or less. I think the turning point for me was when I heard Tupac died and beef wasn't just something I wanted to be a part of any more.

Fast forward some years down and it was Nas and JayZ, I have to say I was once again excited, but the fear it may turned ugly again one again killed the excitement for me. As it stand so far, there is zero interest in beef for me any more.

Now, it appear that it is taking hold of naija music scene where some one must announce his arrival in the music industry via dissing another established name.

While "dissing" is not new to the Nigerian music scene, with peeps like Sunny Ade and Ebenezer Obey, Barrister and Kollington, Obesere and Kwam 1 all taking subliminal shots at each other.

I feel the new generation now are much more bolder and more aggressive in their approach. One thing that baffles me is that there appears to be more and more interest than ever, and with little care that it may actually turn ugly.

Anyway, I guess what I am trying to ask is that why do you like beefs in Hiphop?
PoliticsRe: Immortalizing Bawolomo On Nairaland by ElRazur: 10:35am On Dec 05, 2010
I think people are probably not used to this concept of people dying and what not.

I used to post on one of the biggest forum in the UK. One of the members there died and his death was very different from this. He had a cancer of some sort that spreads through his body and eventually killed him.  What made his death unusual was that during his end period, he was on the forum posting message and explaining his inner feelings etc.

I think one of his last post read something along the lines of ".   .   .  the Doctors and specialist did all they could now, and it appears that there is really nothing to do other than wait.   .   ."

He died in his sleep some few hours after posting that.      After his death, there wasn't any special nomination or anything. People die all the time and it is important to try an accept that.

What was however done on that forum was that his thread was cleaned up (That is, needless comments removed) and archived in the forum. It is still there for anyone to read till today.

His family later logged on and thanked the forum, and that was it. Life goes on.

In my own opinion, let the guy be at peace. It is a tragedy but we need to move on. There is no need for an over-elaborate remembrance, no need for a posthumous award because if he was alive would the so called "award" given out here would have been awarded to him? I very much doubt it.  There are people who have died and happen to be a member here and we just do not know about it.

My two cents.
