introvertedsoul: You should direct your correction towards the "Pastor". Clearly if you take time out to read what he said, parts of it were subtle aims at sarcasm, with intent to ridicule. Surely, he could have left OBVIOUS parts of it out , but let be honest he knew what he was doing. Like I stated in my previous post, since he is so outspoken to the point of acknowledging starvation. . . . Why hasn't he ever addressed what led to the starvation and the fact that it was an illegal act? The answer is once again OBVIOUS, and has tribal undertones written all over it again. Before I leave the thread, I'd like to ask you. If one WAS starving in the PAST, USED to chase and catch lizards for food, but then suddenly comes across a place that provides better proper and constant meals, why would that same person, chase lizards and even go as far as saying lizards were extinct where she came from? Reminds me of the Alangba jokes Yoruba people always make about Igbos, don't you think? Oh, what am i saying he is a pastor, he can't possibly do that. @bolded, are you sure even YOU know what caused the starvation during the civil war? |
Christianity Etc › Re: G.O Adeboye : A Huge Stain On Modern Christianity In Nigeria by ElsonMorali: 2:05pm On Oct 03, 2017 |
Mrchippychappy: Surely you can see the subtle mockery the "God of men" was using when he made reference to lizards in the east being used as food. How could someone so revered make such distasteful and insensitive speech and from the holiest place in the church, the pulpit. We all need to open our eyes, read through the lines of every adulterated and filthy doctrine that some of these popular Nigerian pastor try to force down our throats. Then compare that with what Jesus Christ said in the bible. I have listed the bible verses above and have compared them to the filth that the G.O preached on Sunday. The truth is plain for all to see!
As for the "tribal slur", read through the pastor politicians Sunday speech then read through my post, I think you would find that the tribal slur was thrown out there by the revered G.O in a suggestive manner (I have a word that would perfectly describe what this acronym should truly stand for but I wouldn't go that far!) So if lizards were used as food in the east during the war, Adeboye should claim otherwise? Where is your common sense? Shouldn't you quarrel instead with your elders for not telling you about that aspect of the war? Initially, I wanted to ask what a religious post was doing in the politics section, then I realised that it was a post from an ipob yoot. I read through your post and, Sorry, I couldn't find any insult. The man spoke of facts. War isn't pretty. But I Guess you guys are too slow to realize that. Oh BTW, I'm far from being a Protestant so don't think I attend the man's church. I don't. |

Good submission. But the question is, where do we get the angels to run the government? In the absence of this, the situation remains and the agitations continue. Living life in circle! Life is a vicious circle in Nigeria because we allow it. The system encourages corruption. We go about our daily duties with an i-dont-care attitude. The politicians have free rein to steal and loot to their hearts' content. But we don't care. As long as we can manage three meals daily, drive second-hand cars and do owambe parties every weekend, then all is well with the world. We are all arm-chair critics. We don't need angels to run the government. We need a system that polices itself and can run itself even If we have dullards as leaders. We can only have such a system If we push vigorously for it. The question is, can we? |

Odingo1: You spoke well, but unfortunately South East is blocked from receiving anything good in Nigeria by the FG. South Africa have a rail line that covers the whole country, 6 Standard International Airport that you can use to land in any part of south Africa, 7 standard sea port that cut across the country. What is preventing FG to have one standard international Airport in the east, one sea port, railway in the east and you want them to be happy in Nigeria. FG will build rail line in Nigeria and cut off the SE Let me give you an example here. During Jonathan's tenure, the minister of aviation was an Igbo lady, Stella Oduah. She awarded the contract for the international airport in Enugu. The rest is history now. You guys are still agitating for a functional international airport years later Because she did a poor job. Eventually who benefitted from that contract? Only the elites who shared the money and gave you a substandard airport. That's why I said the issues aren't tribal or religious. The Nigerian masses should come together irrespective of ethnic or religious differences and take back their collective destiny. We either sink or swim together. Politicians share money irrespective of ethnic and religious differences But we the masses live and die for ethnic and religious differences. Sad. |

Odingo1: The former old Eastern Nigeria is made up of the following states now, Enugu Anambra IMO Abia Ebonyi Rivers Cross River Bayelsa Akwa Ibom So compare and contrast and know if the Eastern Nigeria is not the life line of Nigeria. The Mid- Western Nigeria is not SS but Bendel which is now Edo and Delta state. Then I stand to be corrected. But ofcourse you're not insinuating that Biafra is going to be made up of these states, are you? Because using the phrase old Eastern Nigeria is a misnomer. I think we both know that old Eastern Nigeria doesn't exist anymore. So in that light, let's consider the south eastern region of the country made up of 5 states. |

Nigeria existense is simply to share oil money.
Don't come here to pretend That's your own opinion. Even though it's totally wrong, I respect your right to lay claim to it. The only thing I can do is to try and educate you. What is a country in "the real sense of the word"? There are citizens of the united states who feel the US isn't really a country anyway. Does that stop the US from being a country? You scoff at the idea of Nigeria being a country. You probably know naught. And your insinuation is a slap against the good our military has wrought in the subsaharan African region. |
Mere wishful thinking completely different from realities on ground sums up your post..'Should' is completely different from 'is'..Nigeria has beenretrogressing from independence till date..The tribes therein increasingly dislike one another hence the collective non-chalance on the growth of this nation.. The only tribe that dislikes other tribes is actually yours and I'm not saying this out of spite. Igboslive and make their living in the west without any issues, yet does that stop the online vituperation? No. Sadly enough, each major tribe is as deeply divided as Nigeria currently is. Won't be surprised If Biafra, after a few years divides again. ..For Nigeria to grow, majority of her citizens has to have passion for her betterment in all spheres...but i do not see that happening anywhere off-line..no need sugar-coating anything..Rhetorics and lip-service about patrotism on social media by people who love to fool themselves is all i see. I think you're speaking for yourself and some others here who have been swayed with negative propaganda about the roles played by various ethnic groups in the civil war. Doesn't mean you're in the majority. That you don't feel particularly patriotic doesn't mean that others who do aren't sincere. ...besides as a Yorubaman, the fate of Biafra after her exit from Nigeria should be more of concern to the Igboman than you.. The fate of Biafra after their exit doesn't concern me in the least. Was just responding to the original post. I do have that right on Nairaland, don't I? |

Odingo1: Eastern Nigeria is the life line of Nigeria. There is nothing like South East in Nigeria Constitution. What we have in Nigeria is Eastern Nigeria,Northern Nigeria, Western Nigeria and Mid-Western Nigeria. Geopolitical is of recent during Obj tenure and is not in Constitution. Eastern Nigeria is not the lifeline of Nigeria. No offence meant. Right now, the mid western, middle belt and western Nigeria are what is holding up Nigeria. Don't get me wrong. Every part of Nigeria of Nigeria is important and needed, But holding up Nigeria right now are the parts that provide the major income earning (mid west today known as south south), agriculture (middle belt today known as north central) industry (west today known as southwest). Other parts contribute their own quota too and the eastern part No less (trade). But unfortunately that trade is not trade with other countries But importing goods into Nigeria which is what Nigeria needs less of right now. |

Nigeria has the opportunity to be a super power and Africa's numero uno advocate If she remains one, united and indivisible entity.
Agitations for a sovereign state of whatever is based on bad politics, selfishness, myopia and wishful thinking.
We have some reckoning in the world today Because of our sheer number.
What is left is for us to get rid of these current crop of "leaders" and get in place people who are selfless and know How to manage resources both human and natural to lift everyone out of this doldrums.
Most new nations these days are borne out of idealistic and wishful thinking and desires.
"Biafrans" think their path to glory is being blocked by other tribes in Nigeria. Yet for the past 17 or so years of democracy, their leaders have shown the same level of greed, rapaciousness and insensitivity that is so common among Nigerian politicians.
We shouldn't be fighting ourselves, we should band together and form a formidable force to chase away all these so-called leaders who have mortgaged the future of the unborn children of the common man.
Biafra won't be any better than Nigeria. It probably will be worse. Even within the major ethnic groups in Nigeria, there's still discrimination. |
