Politics › Ex-pdp Chairman, Nwodo Canvasses Support For Buhari by emamos(op): 6:39am On Dec 15, 2015
A former National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Okwesilieze Nwodo, has urged Nigerians to have faith in President Muhammadu Buhari and give him time to implement his campaign promises.
Nwodo told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Umuahia that the president needed time to formulate policies and execute programmes to tackle the myriads of socio-economic challenges currently plaguing the nation.
He said: “The president came in with tremendous goodwill. It’s not easy in the Third World for an opposition party to defeat a sitting government.
“So for Buhari to have done that shows the measure of goodwill he came to office with.
“Secondly, I believe that what he promised our people was something that was timely; I’m of the PDP but that government had reached a point of impunity.
“The level of impunity is being shown by the investigations that are going on indicating that we needed somebody who promised us that he was going to fight corruption and to bring sanity to government expenditure.
“I’m one of those who believe that no Nigerian should go to bed hungry and that this country has enough resources to feed us and to provide enabling environment to achieve our God-given talent.
“But when government’s resources are so plundered as they have been done by other administrations, you can see that the waste in governance has made it impossible for Nigerians to reach their manifest potential.
“So when a president is coming on board and promises that he is going to fight corruption and people voted, so these are the two big credentials that the president came on-board with.
“They are not things that can be achieved overnight. The problem is that we have suffered so long that Nigerians have become impatient.
‘’They want to be removed from the fire they are in today by tomorrow but government doesn’t work like that.
“It takes time for policies to be formulated and to be implemented, so what I want to plead with Nigerians is to give the president time.
“I believe he has brought in a solid team of ministers to help him and this is the time the work now starts.
“Let’s pray for him, let’s wish him the best and hope that he will be able to fulfil those promises he made to us.’’
Nwodo also canvassed the need for the federal government to implement the report of the National Conference, saying this would help to reduce social tension in the country.
He further said that the report of the conference, if implemented, would enthrone and strengthen true federalism in the country, saying that Nigeria was currently practising a unitary system in a federation.
Nwodo also said that true federalism would ensure competitiveness and self-reliance among the federating units, adding that under the defunct regional system, the regions and the country fared better.http://www.thisdaylive.com/articles/ex-pdp-chairman-nwodo-canvasses-support-for-buhari/227992/

A commercial bus driver, Andy Ibojie along with four others have been arrested by operatives attached to the Edo State Police Command for allegedly kidnapping a six year old boy from Okomu town, Ovia South West local government area of the state.

Politics › PDP Challenges FG To Strengthen Anti-corruption Agencies, Give Them A Free Hand by emamos(op): 7:21pm On Dec 14, 2015
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has dismissed what it called the “ridiculous statement” made on Sunday by the Minister of Information, Lai Mohammed, in which he slammed the PDP for the “apparent failure” of the President Muhammadu Buhari-led All Progressives Congress (APC) administration.
PDP National Publicity Secretary, Olisa Metuh
SaharaReporters Media
In a statement signed by PDP National Publicity Secretary, Olisa Metuh, the Party said it was clear from the Mr. Mohammed’s statement that the on-going campaign against the PDP and the media/mob trial of opposition elements in the country is being coordinated from the office of the Minister of Information.
“We are aware that large sums of money have been made available for this purpose, hence, the desire of the Minister to justify his brief,” Mr. Metuh said.
“In carrying out his brief, Lai Mohammed has chosen to ignore the time-honoured admonition that those who go to equity must come with clean hands. Otherwise, how would this Minister possibly forget that having served as Chief of Staff in one of the most corrupt State governments in the country, he clearly lacks the moral and ethical standing to accuse other people of corruption?” The PDP National Public Secretary asked.
He stated that the PDP’s position on the issue of fighting corruption in Nigeria has not deviated, noting that there should be a holistic and all-encompassing approach that is devoid of persecution and selective victimization of opponents of the government. He added that if the government is indeed interested in tackling corruption, it would do well to strengthen the agencies charged with fighting corruption and allow such agencies the freedom to do their work without interference.
“The present situation wherein officials of the government, such as the Minister of Information, go about slandering opposition figures whilst ignoring the clear cases of corruption against members of the ruling Party, will do our dear country more harm than good,” Mr. Metuh argued.
He declared that the issue of corruption in Nigeria is not political and has no partisan inclination and should not, therefore, be treated as a campaign issue, adding that the ruling Party must understand that Nigerians are tired of this unnecessary blame game.
“Nigerians want an honest approach to the issue of tackling corruption,” he continued. “A situation wherein someone is only corrupt if he does not cross over to the APC is simply laughable. It is indeed ridiculous that clearly corrupt people are rewarded with government positions upon embracing the APC, whilst those who stay back in PDP are vilified.”
Mr. Metuh reminded the government that claiming to fight corruption does not mean the Federal Government can ignore its responsibility to provide good and effective governance for the people.
“The government has failed woefully in its duties and the propaganda presently being coordinated by the Minister of Information will not put food on the tables of Nigerians, who are already regretting voting the APC to power,” he said

Crime › Probe Ibb, Obj Others To Be Take Serious, Pdp Tells Pmb by emamos(op): 7:49pm On Dec 13, 2015
The leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party has noted that for the anti-corruption war of President Muhammadu Buhari-led federal government to be successful, he must probe all security votes of past presidents and heads of state from 1984 to date.
President Buhari
The main opposition party also called on the current administration to establish a National Truth Commission.
The party said that the security votes of former of heads of state, Ibrahim Babangida, General Abdusalami Abubakar, Olusegun Obasanjo, and the late Umaru Yar’Adua should be taken a second look at.
The PDP urged Buhari to also probe the expenditure of all military purchases made during the Bakassi war, fight against militancy in Niger Delta, military interventions in Liberia, Sierra Leone, Sudan, Somalia, Rwanda and others.
Olisa Metuh, the PDP publicity secretary made this call in a statement released on Sunday, December 13, Vanguard reports. He noted that while the party is in the support of the anti-corruption effort of President Buhari, the president should include these past presidents and heads of state for Nigerians and the international community to take the anti-graft crusade very serious.
The PDP statement reads in part: “The Leadership of the peoples Democratic Party (PDP) hereby reiterates its support for an honest, holistic and total war against corruption and we demand the trial and prosecution of all those involved, including those who may have returned ‘loots’ to the government.
“However, we are completely against any one-sided public trial and mob conviction of accused persons without following the age-long and worldwide legal process wherein all accused persons are presumed innocent until the contrary is lawfully proved. We do not believe that mere investigation confers a guilt verdict on those concerned and the government should stop the brutal mob and public conviction of individuals and the transfer of the burden of proof of people being investigated.
“We restate for emphasis that a media and public war against corruption is good, but it should not be limited to only those opposed to the President and the ruling party. In fact, until top officials of the former government open up on the exact source of the funding, it remains premature to be accusing our party members of corrupt practices.
“Nevertheless, if indeed the government’s investigation includes the expenditure of President Jonathan security votes from 2011, then it should be extended to a public inquisition on the following: The security votes of all past Presidents and Heads of state from 1984; The award of contracts by the petroleum task force from 1993 to 1999; expenditure of our military purchases and expenditure during the Bakassi wars, the fight against militancy in the Niger Delta, military interventions in Liberia, Sierra Leone, Sudan, Somalia, Rwanda among others; the source of funding of the PDP and APC’s 2015 Presidential campaigns; the contributions from APC controlled state governors for their Presidential campaign and the beneficiaries thereof as well as allegations that people were made ministers just to cover up the slush fund that they provided to finance the APC presidential campaign.https://www.naij.com/665590-investigate-babangida-abdulsalami-obasanjo-security-vote-pdp-advises-buhari

He pointed out that the anti-corruption war of Buhari is gaining momentum as within a short period many high profile politicians have been prosecuted, Vanguard reportsThe lawmaker pleaded with Nigerians for understanding as the present administration war against corruption might cause some pains but the fight is in the overall interest of the people as country stands to gain a lot in a corrupt free environment.
He said: “President Buhari is not the President of APC. He is the President of PDP, President of the masses and president of the whole Nigeria. But, I can tell the masses today that since we started having presidents , It is now we have president, because, the truth of the matter is that six months are very short to know what any president can do, but, this one, within six months, we are seeing what he is capable to do and what he will still do.
“The only way any government can repair a country is to start with an anti-corruption crusade. Corruption is not an issue that affects only the PDP. President Buhari has given a clear signal to everybody, including even his ministers that whoever is corrupt would not go unpunished.

The NASS should as a matter of urgency set action in motion to impeach Buhari for spending bailout money without appropriation. He cannot be acusing someone of what he does at will. These are some of what he did to RUBBISH PDP government to win sympathy for self to become president. He is a pot calling kettle black.
