She was stuck in the clay, mud and water from her own house. Her situation was such that of they did nothing she would die and if they attempted a rescue then it would involve amputation followed by hospitalization, which was not possible because of a lack of proper medical facilities, in which case she would die. For three days she was stuck as the world televised her agony, but it was this photo by Photographer Frank Fournier that shook the world . Following the death of the Kogi gubernatorial candidate, Prince Abubakar Audu of the All Progressives Congress, APC, a certain lady, identified as Empress, has expressed joy over the sad event. The lady, on her twitter handle @Empress Sugabelly, recounted her ordeal with the family of the late politician, where she claimed that his son had raped her and how she was also drowned. In her tweets, she said, “The Prince Audu I knew was a monster. I am glad he is dead, and I spit and dance on his grave. “I’m so happy he died. God please hurry up and take Mustapha, Kabir and Bashir too, and that their animal of a cousin called Jibrin. As if addressing one of the sons Mustapha directly, she penned down, “Your daddy is dead Mustapha.” She also went on to say those who think she is happy the Prince died because of politics are unserious people. The said Empress went further to allege that the deceased’s son molested her sexually. She said she was just 17 years old when she graduated from a certain school, Loyola and decided to take one year to make ends meet. According to her, “I lived in Abuja and had just finished my first ever real world job as an intern in this tech company called Alteq. I met Mustapha there. His father, Audu, was the governor of Kogi state then. “I was the youngest person in the company and he sort of took me under his wings and he was nice to me. She went further to claim that one thing led to another and Mustapha allegedly started having canal knowledge of her. Empress added that at that point, there was no one she could ask for help. According to her, “He will choke me while f***ing me. I cried and begged him but he will get angry and say I was ruining his flow. Whenever I did not do what he or his friends wanted, he would hit me and drag me by my hair. So I learnt to be obedient. “He used to bring new friends every time. He did other unpleasant things like burn me and hold my head under water while his friends f***ed me, but that was only once or twice. “I was in love with him and inside, I kept hoping he didn’t mean it and if I was obedient enough, he would go back to being the sweet guy I met,” Empress tweetedhttp://dailypost.ng/2015/11/23/abubakar-audu-im-happy-the-monster-died-sugabelly-narrates-torment-with-family/

Business › Microfinance Bank Defrauds Over 200 Market Women In Lagos by emamos(op): 11:15am On Nov 23, 2015 |
There was confusion at a certain microfinance bank located on Atitebi Junction on the Old Apapa Road, in the Oyingbo area of Lagos state when no fewer than 200 women got to the bank where they had allegedly opened accounts but discovered it was deserted. According to Punch, the police in the State are on the trail of the employees of the said bank who allegedly defrauded the women of their savings. The bank, which reportedly used a three-room apartment in a storey building at the junction, started giving out forms around September to the victims, who were mostly market women. Reports say the aggrieved women who were given forms and account booklets where savings were ticked after each deposit, had been told by the bank to come last Monday to get loans after making three months’ savings, only to discover that the bank officials were nowhere to be found. While some of the women reportedly deposited N21, 000 hoping to be given loans of N150, 000, others were said to have paid in N15, 000 to be lent N100, 000. Some others also deposited N7, 500 hoping to be lent N50, 000. However, trouble started when some of the women who had been told to come for their money on Friday, got to the bank at about 10am and met the rooms under lock and key. They were said to have raised the alarm and started to call other women who were customers. Policemen from the Iponri division were said to have arrived to pacify the women and enjoined them to make a formal report for investigation, because the wailing women caused a gridlock on the road, during which some of them put calls through to the phone numbers on the form, but the lines were reportedly switched off. Speaking on the incident, one of the women, who identified herself as Yakubu Rukayat, said she had deposited N15, 000, and brought her sister to contribute N21, 000 hoping to get the loans. According to her, “Over 200 of us were affected. We were shocked to meet their doors locked on a Monday. The rooms are empty. The door is locked. Look at the form I filled and the passbook they gave me. I deposited N15, 000, and I also brought my sister to pay in N21, 000. “Most of us are market women from Oyingbo, Makoko and Ebute Meta. On Friday, I still came to the bank and people were depositing the money. I noticed that one of the officials, a lady, asked people to hurry so that they could take their forms for processing. We did not know it was a scam. How will I get all my money back?” One Iyaniwura, another victim, lamented she had hoped to use the loan to pay her house rent, and to expand her business. She claimed to have deposited N21, 000 too. However, the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, DSP Joe Offor, who confirmed that the market women had reported the matter to the police, said the police had invited the landlord of the property for questioning and efforts were on to get the runaway officials of the microfinance bank. Offor said, “The DPO led policemen to the scene and appealed to the women not to cause violence. The police have invited the landlord who gave the place to the so-called microfinance bank for questioning,” the PPRO added. He said all efforts are being made to apprehend the officials of the bank. http://dailypost.ng/2015/11/23/microfinance-bank-defrauds-over-200-market-women-in-lagos/cc:lalasticlala |

Politics › I Will Soon Launch My Foundation; Obasanjo Wanted Third Term – Jonathan Opens Up by emamos(op): 10:24am On Nov 21, 2015 |
Former President Goodluck Jonathan has for the first time bared his mind on the alleged third term controversial bid of ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo. Obasanjo has never admitted that he sought an extension after the expiration of his tenure in 2007. “People say that it was obvious that I wanted a third term and I ask those who say I was behind the third term to bring concrete evidence to prove that I spearheaded it,” Obasanjo noted during the launch of My Watch, his autobiography. “Third term was not my agenda or intention. I didn’t mastermind third term. Those who were telling me to go on were the governors that were going to benefit from it.” However, speaking at the National Democratic Institute (NDI) and the Centre for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) in Washington, Jonathan said: “I was a governor at that time, but due to strong resistance from the national assembly, the third-term bid failed.” Jonathan noted that Africa needed strong parliaments to checkmate presidents desperate for prolonged stay in office. “Changing constitutions to eliminate term limits in order to favour incumbents is inconsistent with democratic principles and reduces confidence in democratic institutions. “This is a disturbing precedent for the region and continent”, he added. Jonathan, who also shared his experience as an international observer in Tanzania, also disclosed that he will soon launch his foundation. http://dailypost.ng/2015/11/21/i-will-soon-launch-my-foundation-obasanjo-wanted-third-term-jonathan-opens-up/ |

A statement issued by the Presidential spokesman, Mr Femi Adesina, in Abuja on Friday said that Buhari and other GECF leaders were expected to review the current market outlook on gas and discuss strategies for boosting gas production. Politics › PDP And The Bourbon Spirit by emamos(op): 7:32am On Nov 21, 2015 |
How are the mighty fallen? If you watched the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, during its pitiable rebranding conference last Thursday, you would be reminded of the Bourbon dynasty in France as it lost grip of power. As the story goes, through stealth and iron clad despotism, the Bourbon dynasty had bestrode much of Europe, controlling the affairs of state in France, Italy, Spain and other areas. Blinded by its seeming invincibility, it ignored the fact that its oppressive rule was breeding deep-seated resentment over the land. Like the foolish king who danced naked while his throne was being taken away, the Bourbons were eventually dumped from the throne. That was before Napoleon Bonaparte’s ascension. However, on the abdication of Napoleon, the Bourbons returned to power, only to lose it again, never to return. Reason: They had learnt nothing; forgotten nothing. Let us hope that unlike the Bourbons, PDP will quickly emerge from self-delusion and embrace the inevitable change without which President Olusegun Obasanjo’s prediction of the party’s death will come to pass. But if last Thursday’s conference of the party is anything to go by, one is left with the painful conclusion that the party seems doomed to be drowned in its crisis of self-delusion. We do not have to be reminded that this was a party that had arrogantly claimed that it was going to rule Nigeria uninterruptedly for 60 years. This was a party that had prided itself as the quintessence of democracy. But what happened? Confronted with the acid test of internal democracy, it crumbled like a park of badly arranged cards. Faced with the freedom of choice, it bungled it so much so that the outcry against the conduct of the 2015 primaries coupled with the denial of access to aggrieved contestants to redress, led to an internal revolt, the outcome of which was that the PDP became the first party in government to lose a general election in Nigeria. Last Thursday’s rebranding conference of the party was a fruitless and mediocre effort in self deception. It is not enough for the party to console itself that it undertook the electoral reforms that provided the atmosphere for it to commit political suicide; the important thing is for the party to address those undemocratic tendencies that sowed the seeds of its virtual disintegration. Unfortunately, rather than seek an honest resolution of its problems, the party has been moving in circles, with members of the national working committee, NWC, shamelessly dodging the fundamental time-honoured practice which requires those who lead their parties to disastrous elections to quit without any prompting. That is the path of honour. That is the dictate of commonsense. But Uche Secondus has yet to step down so that the north east can complete its tenure as chairman of the party. What makes this state of affairs completely untenable is the fact that Uche Secondus, as a caretaker chairman, ought to have stepped down three months after the resignation of the former chairman of the party, Alhaji Ahmed Muazu to allow for a new chairman to emerge from the north east zone in conformity with the constitution of the party. The implication of this serious breach of the party’s constitution is that, in a strict sense, the PDP does not have a national working committee at this moment. Stretched to its logical conclusion, all actions taken by the leadership could be regarded as illegal, including the farcical show that was put up in the name of a conference. Here again, it is ironical that the party is notoriously refusing to learn the painful lessons of its obsession with impunity. Nothing can be more contradictory than High Chief Raymond Dokpesi’s apology to Nigerians over the PDP’s failure to field a northern presidential candidate for the 2015 elections while, at the same time, the party stubbornly refuses to allow the northeast to complete its tenure as chairman of the party. To throw the carrot of a northern presidential candidate for the 2019 elections as a smokescreen for denying the northeast its right smacks of barefaced deception. Much as zoning the presidency to the north could be the most logical option, PDP does not have to jump the gun; it should wait and get to that bridge before crossing it read more http://www.thisdaylive.com/articles/pdp-and-the-bourbon-spirit/226235/ |
Politics › Ibe Kachikwu’s Wild Goose Chase by emamos(op): 6:41am On Nov 21, 2015 |
Somebody should please stop the Group Managing Director of NNPC, Ibe Kachikwu from squandering the limited resources of this country. He is going in search of oil in our side of Lake Chad. Previous administrations have wasted billions of USD on this bogus search without result. Now, my dear Kachikwu has indicated that the country may well be on the verge of a significant oil find in the Lake Chad area in North-east Nigeria based on analysis of recent seismic 3D data generated from the Chad Basin. In a presentation to the Petroleum Club, Lagos, the NNPC boss stated that NNPC was injecting a lot of energy into the effort to ensure success in this regard. The GMD said. “There are signs from the latest 3D seismic studies that oil may well be very close to being found now in Lake Chad after very many years of trials. I think that this is very key. It is key both for the geographical balancing of oil production and it is also very key for the purpose of refinery placement in the North in terms of access to crude. I am optimistic that by the end of the year we should be able to announce something major on this.’’ Haba, Kachikwu! Why do you want to continue putting our money in this fruitless search? Don’t you know how much has gone into this in the last 30 years without result? You are apparently doing this to satisfy your paymasters and secure your position. This is a big shame. _ http://www.thisdaylive.com/articles/ibe-kachikwu-s-wild-goose-chase/226264/ |
Politics › FG May Write Off Bailout Funds To States – Amosun by emamos(op): 7:59pm On Nov 20, 2015 |
Going by the economic reality in the country and near insolvent situation of state governments, the federal government may write off the bailout fund extended to all the 36 state governments of the federation. Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, dropped the hint while speaking at the opening of the Treasury Board meeting for the year 2016 budget held at the Obas’ Complex in Oke – Mosan State Secretariat Complex, Abeokuta, the state capital. Amosun explained that the decision to write off the bailout fund from the debt list of the states that benefited from it was borne out of the federal government’s conviction that some states in the country are not economically viable and as such, would not be able to cope with the conditions for its repayment. Amosun, who was apparently responding to the criticisms against his administration’s assessment of N19b of the fund, also lamented that Ogun short-changed itself by not applying for a total sum of N40b in the opportunity provided by the bailout scheme. The governor also noted that the federal government was already considering writing off the bailout fund since more states were already clamouring for more of the bailout system. Amosun, however, emphasised that his administration remained committed to improving the socio-economic fortunes of the state despite the current economic downturn in the country. The governor also charged officials at the Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) to strive towards prudence and accountability in their focus for year 2016 Fiscal year. Amosun also said that the state’s year 2016 budget proposal would largely be financed through aggressive Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) without inflicting unnecessary pressure on the citizens. He directed both the political and career officers to ensure total blockage of loopholes, leakages, wastages and remit all monies to the appropriate government coffers. Earlier the Commissioner for Budget and Planning, Ms. Adenrele Adesina appreciated all the Ministries, Departments and Agencies for their commitment to the Ogun State Project. She noted that the 5-cardinal programmes of the Amosun-led Administration remain sacrosanct and priority of the government. http://dailyindependentnig.com/2015/11/fg-may-write-off-bailout-funds-to-states-amosun/ |

Politics › Empower Trained Ex-militants, Okowa Tells FG by emamos(op): 8:59am On Nov 17, 2015 |
Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, Brig. Gen. Paul Boroh (retd) and members of the Amnesty Office during a courtesy call in Delta State Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta state has called for urgent empowerment of trained ex-militants so as to re-integrate them into the society. The governor expressed this view on Monday in Asaba on the occasion of the visit of the Special Adviser to the President and Coordinator of the Amnesty Programme, Brig. Gen. Paul Boroh (Retd) who led some officials from the Amnesty Office on a courtesy call to his office. He noted that non-empowerment and re-integration of the trained ex-militants could lead to their being de-skilled, to the detriment of the nation. “While we look at engaging more and more people in training, there is a need to begin to look at how to expose some of them that can stand on their own to some form of credit facilities; it may not be a full starter pack from the Federal Government but, they could be exposed to some form of credit or linkage to financial institutions for credit allocation for them to start on their own because, I get worried when I see some of them being idle and when they get frustrated, it is likely that they will go back to old habits. “We have seen a lot of the ex-militants who have come back with skills and when you come back with skills and after a period of time, you do not apply those skills, you actually begin to de-skill yourself and that is not good,” the Governor asserted. Okowa who praised President Mohammadu Buhari for continuing with the amnesty programme, which he said has doused a lot of tension and gave hope to the ex-militants, however suggesting that the Federal Government should pay less emphasis on overseas training for the ex militants, but said efforts should rather be on having the training facilities of international standards in nigeria which will serve the people for a long time. He said, “there is no doubt that the amnesty programme is a good programme that was started by the umaru yar adua administration and we are quite happy and we must appreciate President Buhari for continuing with the programme because, we need peace in the Niger Delta for us to be able to have a conducive environment for development of industries and the development of infrastructure, but, in trying to ensure that peace, we need to be sure that our youths have some hope looking into the future.” While congratulating Brig.-Gen. Boroh on his appointment, Governor Okowa lauded his initiative to establish operational offices in the state, observing, “the operational base will give the people the opportunity to communicate with your properly and easily than people going to Abuja always.” Earlier, the Special Adviser had told the Governor and members of the state executive council that they were in the state to establish operational base for close monitoring of activities of ex-agitators, assuring that those who have not benefited from the training programmes would benefit while plans were on to re-integrate the ex-militants into the society. He called for collective efforts towards achieving a peaceful and progressive society.http://www.pmnewsnigeria.com/2015/11/17/empower-trained-ex-militants-okowa-tells-fg/ |

Politics › I’m Not A Military President, No One Will Be Jailed Unless Guilty – Buhari by emamos(op): 8:48am On Nov 17, 2015 |
The presidency yesterday stated that President Muhammadu Buhari will ensure that those accused of stealing public funds are proven guilty before sent to jail. “This administration will give full regard to due process and the rule of law in the prosecution of its war against corruption”, he said at an audience with a delegation from the Foursquare Gospel Church. Buhari also restated his commitment to recovering stolen funds. Presidential media aide, Femi Adesina quoted the president as saying that his anti-corruption war “would be fully within the ambit of the law”. “Under military rule, people could be arrested and held on the basis of suspicion, but in a true democracy, anyone accused of an offence must be presumed innocent till pronounced guilty by a court of law. “President Buhari said that his administration was therefore diligently building up its case against those accused of stealing government funds, getting necessary evidence and facts, before formal charges are brought against them.” Adesina disclosed that Buhari congratulated the Foursquare Church in Nigeria on its 60th anniversary convention, which was concluded on Sunday. In his remarks, the general overseer of the Foursquare Gospel Church, Rev Felix Meduoye, hailed the Buhari administration its strides in the war against corruption and insurgency.
