PoliticsRe: Sorry Lagos, You Don't Have Oil By Ade Damola by Emancipation: 10:06am On Sep 19, 2016
Izonpikin:
i am so happy because soon the niger delta would have many hands joined together fighting the oil war against the fraudulent FG... cool cool cool

Only the discovery of oil can make an ignorant man wise and very soon the yorubas will wake up from their dream...this is some good news...

Also the fight for resource control will re-surface and niger deltans wont be alone in the war... cool cool cool
That's exactly what will happen because they (yorubas) dont have a choice anymore than to join and fight for resource control. They have cornered themselves.

This is a lesson for those who turn a blind eye to the injustice perpetuated to others while keep shouting one nigeria.

I tried to understand what i am reading but cant tell if i did.

But i grabbed that lagos does have oil but simply cant benefit from it very much like the niger delta states.

I think this is the simple summary of the write up which makes mewonder why you had to punish us with "isobaths" and "cubic depth" lol
It was obasanjo that did it when he was trying to cheat Niger deltans back in 2004 but now oil has been discovered in Lagos, it has totally backfired.
PoliticsRe: Sorry Lagos, You Don't Have Oil By Ade Damola by Emancipation: 7:51am On Sep 19, 2016
Asari Dakubo wasn't far from the truth when he said lagos has no oil.

Key points:

1) The Obasanjo government in accommodating a solution settled on the onshore/offshore abrogation bill of February 2004 (backdated to April 2002) which describes the limit of the littoral states as the 200 metre water depth isobath contiguous to a State of the Federation.

2) Instead of using the 200 nautical miles (370 km) Exclusive Economic Zone EEZ as anticipated, the bill cleverly recommended a limit of ‘200 metre water depth isobath’. It was a masterstroke by Obasanjo, the Federalist.

3) For states whose sea bed plunges sharply into the sea, the 200m water depth isobaths would be closer to shore while states with gently sloping sea beds would have a farther derivation belt.
Lagos, Ogun and Ondo States’ sea bed are typically in the former category while the likes of Bayelsa, Rivers and Akwa Ibom are in the latter.

4) Lagos has now been accredited for derivation by the RMAFC but in his speech to Governor Ambode, the Chairman of the Commission noted that Lagos is only qualified for derivation on production from 4 wells out of the five in the Aje field as the last well fell beyond the 200 isobath water depth. Note that the Aje field is just 24 kilometres from the coast of Lagos and in water depth of about 100 meters — a shallow, near-offshore field by industry deep-water standards. And there also lies the problem for Lagos. Most of the future production from offshore Lagos is farther into the Atlantic.

Useless thread without meaning. Tell me where in the world where self-determination issues are handled by ordinary youths? If u elites don't support it, there will be no Biafra, no matter the crowd u pull. Hitler pulled more crowd than any leader in the world, but his ideology was flawed. Leaders in the south east and south south may not support Biafra not because u they swore to protect Nigeria integrity, it maybe simply because they do not agree with the Biafra ideology, or simply put, they simply want true federalism and resource control, than outright break up
Yet you commented on a useless thread. Was a gun held to your head?
PoliticsRe: No State Government In The SE Or SS Will Ever Support Biafra by Emancipation(op): 3:08pm On Sep 18, 2016
It is now upto lovers of One Nigeria who want to continue this country's existence to pressure the government to restructure it. If not, this divide and antagonism towards Nigeria will continue to grow.
PoliticsRe: No State Government In The SE Or SS Will Ever Support Biafra by Emancipation(op): 3:03pm On Sep 18, 2016
There is a strong generational divide happening in the SE/SS and only few people are paying attention. For example, In the past, when ohaneze speaks, everyone listens. But today they are not taken serious anymore. The same with Ijaw Elders, where the Ijaw youth council openly disagrees with them on the way forward on various issues.

The younger generations in the SE/SS have realized that the older folks sold their birthright in the name of one Nigeria.
PoliticsRe: No State Government In The SE Or SS Will Ever Support Biafra by Emancipation(op): 2:36pm On Sep 18, 2016
All these old men or political opportunist who call themselves "Elders" condemning Biafra today will all die soon and then you all will realize that the younger people who are now anti-Nigeria will be the majority.

If you dont give these young people a reason to love and die for one Nigeria, then Biafra will surely become a reality in their lifetime when they take over from the so called Elders.

This is just the Beginning.....
PoliticsNo State Government In The SE Or SS Will Ever Support Biafra by Emancipation(op): 2:26pm On Sep 18, 2016
Yes, this should be common sense but because of unreasonable people, I have to make this clear. There is no way any state government in the south east or south south will support Biafra. They were sworn in to serve and protect the integrity of Nigeria. So it makes absolutely no sense when people keep quoting governors statement as a pointer when most of these same governors cant even pull 1/10 of the crowd Nnamdi Kanu pulls without having to rent it.

These Governors cannot afford to bite the hands that feed them. Even the soldiers that protects their lives take orders directly from the Federal government.

But the good thing is that NOBODY needs their support. This is a grass root movement devoid of political elites and mostly led by young men and women from the SE/SS who have said enough is enough with the continuation of a fraudulent contraption. These young people are selfless and fighting for the freedom of future generation while some people sit on the sidelines to condemn them. They will succeed because they are fighting a just fight.
TravelRe: Nigerian Man Has Aghalieaku Airways In Swaziland by Emancipation: 1:14pm On Sep 18, 2016
The cost of running an airline is already high and profit margin can be slim but when you factor in Nigeria to the equation, it becomes impossible especially if you are an Igbo business man. So setting up the airline in Swaziland and servicing Nigerian market from there is the best solution.
TravelRe: Nigerian Man Has Aghalieaku Airways In Swaziland by Emancipation: 1:05pm On Sep 18, 2016
This is exactly what smart Igbo businessmen should do. If you feel that your business will do better outside of Nigeria, please set it up there.

He can still deliver cargo directly to Enugu airport without dealing with corrupt and tribalistic Nigerian officials. He learnt from the experiences of Orji Uzo Kalu who's SLok airline was frustrated by obasanjo for mere political and tribal reasons.

There are so many foreign made products and services that Nigerians horribly mispronounce their name but that never stoppend them from buying or using it. And trust me, the owners of that product dont care as long as money is in the bank.

Beat me? Lol!!! I'm 100% sure you're not from Delta state. I'm also 100% sure you're one Nwoke in one of the local SE markets. Igbos are known fabricators, propagandists, distorters or facts and imposters. I have proofs of this but I don't want to go into that. I'm a very busy man and I don't like to stay on one Nairaland thread making pointless arguments with demented fellows. We in Anioma are civilized people. We can stand any intellectual discourse with civility and maturity and we don't resort to insults when someone doesn't agree with us, go to Anioma pages and blogs and find out. But Igbos are the complete opposite. They can't stand a divergent view or opinion without resulting to insults and you exhibits all these traits alien to Anioma people.

It would be senseless, pointless and foolhardy to remain on a thread that has been hijacked by tens of jobless Igbos who have all the time in the world to trade words and insult whoever doesn't agree with them. I have important things to do with my time and I don't find any pleasures in online battles, so I had to leave that thread for you. Igbos have population advantage and elyou people use propaganda, fabrications, distortion and conspiracy theories as your weapons. That's what everyone know you people for.

Aniomas are Igbos living west of the Niger river. Whether you accept it or not is your choice.

As far as the Nigerian constitution is concerned, Every IGBO, Yoruba, Hausa and everyone else has the inalienable right to live and do business where ever that they choose to. This is the true essence of the one Nigeria that was fought for.

There is nothing like accommodating someone. That is pure nonsense.

You didn't pay for their land
You didn't start them a business
You didn't pay their bill
you didn't send their children to school

Igbos go to a place with nothing and work hard to accomplish something. They pay taxes (whether you want to admit it or not)

Enugu communities are beginning to finally fight back and I like it.

But in general, I will advise Ndigbo to stay away from issues of Fulanis and middlebelters. The same middlebelters will not hesitate to slaughter you as in the case of Biafran war to keep Nigeria one. Also, Didn't they vote for buhari in massive numbers regardless of all the Fulani herdsmen slaughters they have been receiving?

I'd say, this is difficult to ascertain.

But infact, its a region, whose source of livelihood dependent on import and export.

Dollar no dey smile grin

I pity them though because for the nation to live up to her full potentials those whose source of livelihood dependent on import are in big trouble.

Anyway, the best way to figure the right answer is ,we need to look at the region with least poverty and I know SW top the least, isn't it?

1 love grin
That is not true. Igbos DO NOT depend only on import and export. Plus if the cost of importation goes up, then the traders add it to the goods and the consumers pay for it.

There are so many traders that also manufacture their own goods. If you go Aba, Onitsha, Nnewi, there are so many traders with cottage industries. Just because your jeans and T-shirt says made in Italy doesn't mean it is actually made in Italy. A lot of Nigerians wear and use Igbo-made products without knowing it.

I think for North recession started wayback ago.
Its between the South but I think South South is feeling the recession most followed by SouthWest.
I have been to virually all the major cities and towns in these aforementioned regions and know how their youths behave.

The only saving grace for the SW in this time of recession is their hardworking women and young girls but if its their youths they are long gone.

In South South, Edo women work hard like Yorubawomen aswell and help families stay out of poverty but the mentality of youths SS leave much to be desired. Ikwerre youths and their women are bunch of undesirable elements.

Whether North North or North South, North doesn't count because its only a toad that jumped from its knees and still land on its knees
The south south is a basket case. I wouldn't generalize.

Some of them are very hard working like people from akwa ibom. A lot of them, both men and women come to Aba to buy good and sell.

You are free to open up another thread to discuss that but thats not what OP asked.
PoliticsRe: Which Region Is Suffering More From This Recession by Emancipation: 8:29pm On Sep 12, 2016
The North is definitely suffering the most especially the north east and the south east is suffering the least.

The south east has the following advantages:

1) Vibrant diaspora community all over the world that send money back home.

2) The culture of no room for Laziness. IN the south east, If you are a lazy man or woman, you will die.

3) Diversification of south easterners in both commerce and manufacturing.

4) Vibrant middle class that continues to grow even with bad economy (much slower now). Wealth is more spread out in the east than in other regions.

5) Proliferation of various housing estate even in a bad economy. Just this year alone, multiple housing project by private individuals is coming up in places like Imo, Anambra and Enugu

6) Local and Foreign investments from both the diaspora and local business men. Anambra state is the best example for this.

ivandragon:
they have seen that running a nation as complex as Nigeria is not so easy.

as at 2014, Nigeria was an emerging mixed mid-level economy, meaning the country was slowly, but surely diversifying...

non-oil exports were growing. could it have happened faster? maybe... but it was growing...

but that growth was & will always be severely hampered by the lopsided structure. until adjustments are made to that structure, nothing will work as it should.

that position informed the CONFAB. warts & all, it was a framework which Nigeria could have used to move forward in greater increments.

for instance, you can't have a system where distribution of wealth is based on landmass, population, special considerations (e.g, EDS for people who don't want to go to school in the first place) & local governments.

you can't sustain a system that supports legislatures that are disconnected from their constituencies. the constituencies of the legislatures should fund their stay in abuja not the FG.

for those that will be quick to blame GEJ & the ND militants for the recession, please note, the non-oil revenue is falling... so who would you blame for that?

At a time when Investors are running away from Nigeria, Anambra state attracted 9 solid investors just in the Agricultural sector alone. Their secret is that obiano was wise to focus on local investors and anambra indigens in the diaspora. Unlike foreign investors who run away at the sign of trouble, local investors stay the course. Obiano has given Ndigbo the future blue print on how to develope our land. All Igbo governors need to copy this model immediately regardless of political affiliation. They need to set up their own version of ANSIPPA immediately. No need to reinvent the wheel.
