Career / Re: Should Children Be Their Parents' Retirement Plan? by EmeeNaka: 1:28pm On Nov 15, 2023
samuelson06:
I don't really have a problem with children being their parent's retirement plan. The design is that children should take care of their aged parents and I don't see anything wrong with that. Where I seriously have a problem is when parents don't invest in their children to become successful in life and simply focus on making more children and by God's grace one of the children escapes poverty with little or no contribution from the parents, then you see them coming to lay claims of the child and complaining to the world how the child has abandoned them.

For God's sake, this is a child that suffered so much and alone to become successful and instead of you allowing the child to begin investing in their future and family and stamp out poverty in their own lineage, you are coming to complain about negligence. Must everyone be poor in the family?

From my observation in Nigeria, poor parents don't care about their children. They don't even pray for them to succeed. All they are interested about is what they can get from the children because they feel it's the children's responsibility to take care of them. They don't care about lifting even one to escape poverty in the family so in future, that one can also save others. They care only about themselves. They don't care about the endemic poverty in the family.
Did you read the topic very well? Your attack on poor parents are scathing and bears no semblance of understanding of their respective situation nor semblance of evidenced study.

Labour strike is the least of things Nigeria deserve at the moment. Even nuclear strike may not be a bad idea.

This islamist is about to cry already. Well, if they start today to understand what Peter Obi said before now, they started late.
Peter Obi said, "If Bread is sold for #2000 naira, both Muslims and Christians will buy it same price". It is sad that people accepted evil because of religion.

Please didn't you see the first sentence of my message which specifially made it clear that this thread is for just Igbos.

This thread help me and my fellow Igbos, talk about our genetics and those that may be related to us.

Apologies, if our brothers are killing your terrorist supporters in Gaza.
Of course, all you never do wells in Igboland have taken solace in the Internet and social media to create disaffection among Igbo people, weakening our society.
All of you Nnamdi Kanu and Simon Ekpa supporters, who has been defeated in Igboland, while trying to terrorize the whole Igboland has now resorted to bring up a useless issue to bring back your idiotic support base. The idea of Igbos being Jews is IPOB-ESN terrorists leaning and represents their hardline divisive plot to divide igbo society and create schism. All of IPOB-ESN Unknown terrorists and sympathizers, who are coming in different forms, will be destroyed as well.
Igbos are not jews and will never be.
I will continue to expose all of you idolators, who are besieging Igboland will wild ideas.

Foreign Affairs / Re: Millions Of UK Households Forced To Unplug Fridge To Cope With Rising Bills by EmeeNaka: 12:24pm On Nov 15, 2023
Noblemanonpoint:

£200 is like most people's monthly feeding money in the UK. It's not big but most UK people can't easily give you that money especially with the bills in ground.
I agree!
I am just trying to make Nigerians understand that it is not right to compare spending in the UK to its Nigeria equivalent. It will look so outrageous when one compares it.
Foreign Affairs / Re: Millions Of UK Households Forced To Unplug Fridge To Cope With Rising Bills by EmeeNaka: 12:22pm On Nov 15, 2023
Noblemanonpoint:

Average salary in UK is like 2,000 pounds or so. Imagine using 10% of that for electric while rent a month is close to £800 and above.
To be fair, I am not trying to judge how people spend. But a family that earns about £3200 (husband & wife) in a month, should not be complaining spending £150 in energy bill. The Nigerian he or she is telling that story to, earns average of 300k per month.
But trust people that live abroad, they just convert their spending in naira to make it look large, so as to escape being asked for money.
I spend about £200 monthly on food alone, but it is not so big. But if I tell my friends back home, it will look outrageous because that amount is almost #300k; which is someone else total salary.

Trust you can never afford what they pay for electricity. Most people abroad can barely afford to eat because food has gone up over 100%. Cost of living crises is a global issue. My friend pays electricity bill of equivalent 200k a month for 2 bedroom flat.
Do not be deceived. People that lives in the UK earns in UK pounds and paying an energy bill equivalent to 200k naira a month is not very big as the person would want you to believe.

Politics / Re: INEC Changes Figures Of Accredited Voters In Kogi Election On IReV Portal by EmeeNaka: 12:18pm On Nov 14, 2023
donphilopus:

It was bro. Why are the numbers only changing in Kogi Central? So you actually believe 730 can be accredited out of 745 registered voters in a polling unit in Nigeria? The voter register has been existing since 2010 or so. Nobody died? Nobody traveled? All of them traveled home just to vote? Lol.

Yahaya Bello isn't just wise. If Wike was in his shoes, he would have rigged that election without any traces. Just like Natasha, Muri would retrieve his mandate if he provides enough evidence in court.
What you base your claim on is called Hearsay according to Nigerian law. The reason is that the total number purportedly accredited is still below the total number of registered votes. So, there is no case really. You can't prove that the voters in that ward didn't travel to vote or that they do live outside their ward. You also can't prove that any of them have died since they registered to vote.

I do not support the loss of lifes and properties being witnessed in Gaza and Israel.
Hamas has an infamous history of short-changing the civilian population of Gaza. They have sacrificed the civilians of Gaza for their inhumane terrorist, political and financial gains. Israel has a legitimate right to defend themselves.

Politics / Re: Apc Manipulating Results In Brass by EmeeNaka: 3:49pm On Nov 12, 2023
If the votes are declared, it's over. Nothing like accreditation and all that.
INEC has a subsisting judgment ordering them to allow individuals without PVC to vote.
And without PVC, no accreditation.
Funnily enough, the voters register is weightier than Accreditation. So forget it, Nigeria is doomed

MegaBozz:
Many countries have developed so much under occultist rulers so it is a joke to ask such a question. If we actually had real occultist as leaders Nigeria would have developed so much.

What we have in Nigeria are just selfish leaders who takes advantage of the citizens because they know how gullible the citizens are. The major problem of Nigeria is the citizens who are so divided by tribe and mentality and that is the major cause of our backwardness.

Every state has a governor and representative in federal levels that can develop their individual states without blaming the presidency for everything.
Nigeria do not deserve occultic leaders. It is evil and terrible.

The topic of this news should read ' Fubara talks tough'....
There is no aspect of his talk that showed any respect for Wike. He called him 'Immediate past governor and Minister of FCT'. To a layman, that is correct, but to Wike, that is a declaration of defiance and war. I think the showdown is continuing.

She will be going alone (A hard and tough decision i must confess) leaving the me and my 5 months old baby till when things are soft for us to join her.

I don't know how easy or how soon it will be for her to send invite for us to join her.
How's life in the UK with a single mum?

Who have passed through this situation and how did you people pull through
Usually, things are not very difficult in the UK. To be Frank, she should be able to bring you and your Kid within her first 4 months in the UK. So, if you're willing to relocate to the UK, I will urge you to start now to get ready. Like apply for your Passport and that of your kid.
It's a tough decision for her to leave her baby behind, but I can assure you that UK is a good place to live and raise your kids.
