Politics › Quota System by emilas1979(op): 7:57pm On Jun 10, 2020 |
*"THE PAINFUL TWIST ABOUT LIFE IN NIGERIA". *Two kids are born August 31st, 1980, one in Kano (Jubril) another in Enugu (Emeka).*
They go to primary school in those areas and get to Primary 6, now the twist begins.
*They both take Federal Common Entrance, Emeka scores 168/200 and Jubril 16/200. For some silly quota system, they both end up in the same class at Federal Government College, Enugu (FGCE).*
Emeka continues to come 1st-3rd in the class of 30 and Jubril 25-29th/30.
*6 years later, WASCE and JAMB are taken. Emeka had 6As and 2Cs (WASCE) and 286/400 (JAMB) while Jubril had 5Cs and 2Ps and 106/400 in JAMB.*
Again by a warped and weird stroke they end up in the same Law Faculty in University of Nigeria, Enugu campus.
*5 years later Emeka graduates with 2-1 and Jibril with a Pass!*
Emeka is done with Law school at Abuja - No Job after NYSC.
*Jubril as soon as he gets out of Abuja Law school then one year NYSC gets a job as a Magistrate at the Federal Magistrate Court Abuja, 2 years later he is promoted as a Judge.*
Emeka still struggling, decides to join some Trio Igbo Law outfit in Abuja as a junior lawyer.
*5 years later he is still carrying files and coming to defend low level cases at Jubril's court.*
Now, you are Emeka or Emeka's relative, kit and kin, will you want Nigeria to continue like this.
*No way! That's the problem with Nigeria as it is.*
It's strongly skewed to the advantage of a particular ethnic group in Nigeria.
*Must we allow this to continue?*
The truth be told in all sincerity, the Labour of our heroes past can never be in vain.
*As God would have it, one day, Emeka finds his way to England, he immediately thrills them with his brilliance and in less than 5 years he becomes a full Professor.* He could achieve his dreams elsewhere but his Country.
*This really hurts.... SAY NO TO SILLY QUOTA SYSTEM.* |

In America and Europe they are pulling down statues of slave traders, and Nigerians applaud them. Meanwhile, in Nigeria, we have a town named Escravos, means slave in Portuguese. We also have another town named Forcados, which means forced labourer. If you doubt me, Google these towns and the meaning of their names in Portuguese. Are we a serious people at all? We literally are celebrating slavery with the names of our own towns and shouting Black Lives Matter. We are like a people suffering from cancer and leaving our cancer to help another man treat his headache!

Car Talk › Re: Tesla Battery Supplier Catl Says New Design Has One Million-mile Lifespan by emilas1979(m): 5:39am On Jun 09, 2020 |
They should bring it on Janny0001: Our oil! our oil! our oil! people. Read
A Chinese car battery-maker says it is ready to manufacture a product capable of powering a vehicle for 1.2 million miles (two million kilometres) across the course of a 16-year lifespan.
By contrast, most automakers only offer warranties ranging from 60,000 to 150,000 miles over a three to eight-year period on their cars' batteries.
Contemporary Amperex Technology has not revealed who it intends to supply.
But it was previously reported that the battery was co-developed with Tesla.
The latest news was revealed in an interview Catl's chairman gave to the Bloomberg news agency.
"If someone places an order, we are ready to produce," it quoted Zeng Yuqun as saying.
He added that it was set, however, to cost a 10% premium over the batteries it already supplies.
The company signed a two-year deal to supply batteries for Tesla's Model 3 cars in February. Its other clients include BMW, Daimler, Honda, Toyota, Volkswagen and Volvo. Demand for electric vehicles is growing.
The European market for EVs and plug-in hybrids grew by 72% in the first three months of the year compared to the same period in 2019, representing 7% of all delivered new cars, according to research firm Canalys.
By contrast, the pandemic weighed on the wider market, which as a whole saw deliveries down by 26% for the quarter.
The firm said that Catl's claim was "significant but difficult to verify".
"It is likely to be used as a differentiator by some car-makers when there is a significant difference from one vehicle to another - dramatically affecting resale value," said Canalys's chief automotive analyst Chris Jones.
He added that this and other factors - including the wider availability of charging points and longer driving ranges - should help tempt more motorists to make the switch to an electric car.
Scrappage scheme In February, the Transport Secretary Grant Shapps told the BBC that the UK might ban sales of new petrol and diesel cars as soon as 2032, to help meet the UK's zero-carbon emission targets.
The Sunday Telegraph reported yesterday that the government is considering offering drivers up to £6,000 to swap their existing cars for electric models next month as part of efforts to boost the UK's electric car manufacturing industry.
The Nissan Leaf and Mini Electric are made locally, and Property Week has reported that Tesla is also considering opening its own "gigafactory" car battery plant in England.
However, Catl's own European efforts are currently focused on Germany, where it is building a factory in the eastern town of Erfurt, which is scheduled to start producing lithium-ion car batteries in 2021. https://www.bbc.com/news/technology-52966178#:~:text=Tesla%20battery%20supplier%20Catl%20says%20new%20design%20has%20one%20million-mile%20lifespan,-8%20hours%20ago&text=A%20Chinese%20car%20battery-maker,of%20a%2016-year%20lifespan. |

BEFORE THE VIRUS WENT VIRAL, I AM SURE THEY HAVE THE VACCINE Abelardkk: Two Chinese firms working directly under state supervision say they will be ready to mass produce a coronavirus vaccine by as early as December 2020, pushing the pace of the more than 100 labs working worldwide to develop a safe COVID-19 treatment.
China's Wuhan Institute of Biological Products and the Beijing Institute of Biological Products announced they are entering Phase II of clinical trials, in which 2,000 volunteers received vaccinations last week. A May 29 post on the Chinese social media platform WeChat highlighted the country's researchers having five coronavirus vaccines currently in human testing trials.
As Reuters reported Saturday, the Chinese labs are working under the direction of the Communist Party of China's State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission (SASAC). |

APPOINTMENTS: Buhari favoured South more than North - Records
•South gets 52.4%, North 47.6%
By Clifford Ndujihe, Henry Umoru, Dirisu Yakubu & Olayinka Ajayi
IF the contents of classified records were anything to go by, the perception that President Muhammadu Buhari’s political appointments have unduly favoured the Northern part of the country is not supported by facts.
The classified documents, which contain all high profile political appointment made since Buhari came to power in 2015 show that the appointments have been largely balanced with the president’s North-West zone among the zones holding the shorter end of the stick.
The documents entitled: “Compilation of political appointees, heads of parastatals and agencies” and “Portfolios of ministers, special advisers, senior special assistants and special assistants to the President”, were last updated in December 2018.
The documents, the first 43 pages and the second 17 pages, showed, for example, that between 2015 and 2018, while the North-Central topped the number of appointments in Ministries, Departments and Agencies, MDAs, with 102 appointees, the South-West came second with 101 appointees giving the two zones 35 per cent or 203 of the 567 appointments made.
The South-South came third with 99 appointments, ahead of the North-West, which came fourth with 94. The North-East followed with 93, and the South-East is least with 78.
In the North-Central, Kogi topped with 22 appointees, followed by Kwara with 21, and the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Abuja got the least with two appointees.
OGUN TOPS IN S-WEST Ogun State in the South-West, topped countrywide with 31 appointees, more than the MDA appointments for three North-West states – Kebbi 13; Zamfara seven; and Sokoto six – combined. Buhari’s Katsina topped the North-West appointments with 24, while Kaduna and Kano each got 16; and Jigawa, 12.
Although, the South-East was bottom, Imo State had the third highest number of MDA appointments countrywide with 29 appointees, while Anambra had 20; and Abia 14. Enugu and Ebonyi had eight and seven respectively.
According to the documents, however, the percentage in executive management appointments in MDAs, show 51 per cent in favour of the 19 Northern states, and 49 per cent in favour of the 17 Southern states.
And 124 high profile political appointments comprising special advisers, senior special assistants, and special assistants to the president were made out of which 59 were from the Northern region and 65 were from the South. This number excludes 36 ministers who are statutorily appointed one each from a state.
Public opinion in the last four years has been hugely dominated by a perception of serious bias in appointments in favour of the North by the Buhari Administration. The perception was further enhanced with the North producing the heads of the three arms of government, and heads virtually all the security agencies.
Sentiments about regional bias in political appointments are sometimes laden with religious undertones, not reflected in the classified documents. The consequential nature of the postings is, also sometimes, a hotly contested issue, with some arguing that a section of the country gets more “juicy” appointments than others.
But the appointments also show an interesting pattern. Of the 567 executive appointments in MDAs, 220 or 39 per cent were from states where Buhari lost to Jonathan, far better than public perception suggests.
The South-South, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP stronghold, is number three on the MDAs appointments table with 99 appointees, beaten only by the North-Central and the South-West. For example, in Delta where Buhari lost to Jonathan by 1,162,495 votes and in Rivers State where he lost by 1,417,837 (two states where he suffered his worst losses), the MDA appointments were 23 in Delta and 13 in Rivers respectively, compared with the three core Northern states of Sokoto, Kebbi and Zamfara, with 26 appointments combined, but, total marginal winning votes of 1,454,002 over that of Jonathan.
The appointments marginally tilt the balance in favour of the South, with 52.4 per cent against the North’s 47.6 per cent. The relatively higher number of such high-profile appointments from the North made between 2015 and 2016 (Buhari’s early days in office), tended to give the incorrect impression that the North retained an unfair share of the appointments to date.
Kebbi, Zamfara, Nasarawa, Plateau, FCT, Bayelsa, Ebonyi have zero appointments of presidential aides and thus will not even appear in the chart. Adamawa and Kano top the list with 11 each; while Oyo follows with 10; Ogun nine; Lagos and Kaduna, eight each; and Katsina, seven.
Ekiti and Osun tie at six; Delta and Ondo each have five; while Akwa Ibom and Edo each have four.
A reliable source who refused to be named said: “The President has been severely criticised for so-called lopsided appointments in favour of the North, but the facts hardly support this view.”
‘’Unfortunately, since the public has been misled to believe that the North has this government by the jugular, even those from parts of the North that have been short-changed are forced to suffer in silence. Some states like Zamfara and Kebbi that contributed almost four per cent each to his electoral success in 2015 have been deprived, but they can’t complain.” |

I pity u. The debate is about building churches/mosque and building factories not paying taxes and paying tithe, which is more profitable to the economy. But you are so myopic in reasoning, so no point allowing you to derail my thread. Please Bleep off sammychimex: You should be more ashamed of yourself for your cowardice, you know the source of the issue but instead you prefer transferring your anger at the church simply because the church doesn't react to senseless tantrums like this. Hold the govt accountable not the church, the church was never on the ballot. The church has done more for Nigeria than the govt, the church now builds schools, hospitals, factories etc without any assistance from the govt. The church in Nigeria should actually be understudied by the govt. |
Politics › Re: They Build Factories And We Build Churches, They Pay Taxes And We Pay Tithe by emilas1979(op): 12:41am On Jun 01, 2020 |
I dey shame for you sir sammychimex: You see this factories and insurance companies that closed down, it wasn't church that closed it, it was closed down by a combination of bad govt policies, lack of electricity, lack of forsight on the part of the owners, INDISCIPLINE, LACK OFACCOUNTABILIT. We need to stop all this foolishness of blaming church for the state of the nation. For example using the current govt as case study, we are paying more tax than we have ever done before yet we have never borrowed the way this govt is borrowing now. The major issue with Nigeria is bad govt policies, Monopoly by certain cabals, sabotage and of course financial impropriety. It actually benefits the govt when we leave the govt from whom we should demand accountability from and start blaming religious organisations who have found a way to thrive in the midst of caos, rather we should actually understudy some of this successful churches to understand what makes them successful and find ways to applying it on the economy. |
Politics › They Build Factories And We Build Churches, They Pay Taxes And We Pay Tithe by emilas1979(op): 12:14am On Jun 01, 2020 |
They built industries, we built churches. They paid taxes, we paid tithes. Truth as you know is bitter. We are a well endowed Nation that is groaning under a heavy yoke. We are a blessed Nation that is facing the wrong direction on our journey to nationhood. At Oba Akran Avenue Ikeja, I wept when I realised that factories that employed thousands of people are all closed and their premises converted to churches, insurance companies and banks. It is the same in Ogba, Isolo, Ilupeju and Apapa all in Lagos and Sango Otta in Ogun state. Hundreds of factories shut, which means loss of jobs.
Then the same trip to Shanghai, Beijing, Guangzhou, Tianjin, Shenzhen etc., it is a different story altogether. While they were building factories, we were building churches, while they were paying taxes, we were paying tithes when they started employing more people, we started disengaging our people, when they started exporting, we started importing, when they started getting richer, we began to get poorer, when they were rich enough to lend, we became poor enough to borrow, when they began to export technology and experts, we started importing their expertise and technology, when they moved to first world country, we are receding into a “fourth” world.
While we say they are Ungodly and we are Godly, they live in wealth and we live in poverty. In their cities, the production factory noises fill the air, in our cities, church and mosque noises fill they air. At the end of the week or month, they wait for their salaries and profits, we wait for miracles. China has more than 10 tyre manufacturing companies, South Africa nearby has 4 tyre manufacturing companies, Ghana the same and Nigeria with an estimated population of over 200 million people with millions of cars has no single tyre manufacturing company. Michelin and Dunlop formerly here relocated to South Africa and appointed distributors in Nigeria where the main market is. As big as we are, with such a huge population, we have no more than a textile mill as at the last time I checked.
Yet we go about as if all is well. In one Street near me, I counted 15 churches. On the major road of two kilometres, I counted 25 churches, some as big as a moderate factory and some as small as one room shop. All put together, does not employ a single person. Everything is by volunteers. In China, the same would have been at least 30 factories both big and small. What grows the economy are the very small cottage industries whose products are mopped up for exports. They would employ at least 300 people. Those workers will sing God’s praises, our own people are hungry and their prayers are constantly harrasing God, accusing Him of not listening or listening but not responding even to outright accusation of partiality. #HappySunday #copied |

Politics › Re: The North Is The Problem Of Nigeria? by emilas1979(m): 3:45am On May 18, 2020 |
Trash Fix ya North DanHaske: The north is the problem of this country! Thats how most people always chuckle satisfactorily to themselves. When you ask them how it is so, they began to wobble. Wobble around and end up saying nothing. It is quite easy to lay such accusations. But we should also know that there is no position that a northerner has held in this country that had not been occupied by a southerner. How they performed in that position has nothing to do with where they come from. We say northerners have been ruling this country ever since and nothing good to show. Well, it is not only northerners that have ruled Nigeria, and for those who would say that northerners have damaged Nigeria. I will ask you how so, but first let me briefly outline some policies and actions that have damaged this country. Destroyer number 1 - Aguyi Ironsi Aguyi Ironsi took power in 1966 after forcing the cabinet members to "willingly" hand over power to him. For the record, he had no business taking over power since the ongoing coup had been quelled by Yakubu Gowon. The first thing Ironsi did was to promulgate a unification decree. The damage that did to this country can still be felt to this day. Secondly, Ironsi's actions or inactions led to the civil war. If the C in C had brought the coup plotters to book instead of giving them a luxury prison life, the northern officers wouldn;t have planned any coup and the northern soldiers wouldn't have hijacked the coup and turned it into a massaccre. The infortunate incident that led to the civil war. Ironsi did irrepairable damage to this country. 2. Olusegun Obasanjo The baba himself. In his eyes, he is the best thing that has ever happened to this country. Obasanjo was the first President we had after the return to democracy, there was an economic boom during his time. However, he did certain things that has damaged Nigeria till date. For instance, he handed over local governments to governors just to get their support for second tenure. This action stalled the local governments in most states and has impeded grassroot development to this date. Governors now see the local governments as their cash cow and will not let it go without an agressive fight. Obj gave Bakassi to Cameroon just to look good to the international community. No country gives away even a square inch of its land to another. The best they can do is to keep fighting over it and call it disputed land till eternity. It was Obj that set the template for horrible elections in this country. Sit in a room, write results and go out and announce it. The electoral process has never been the same again During Obasanjo, any elected public official whom he doesn't like was removed. Be it governor, senator or any other person. It was him that introduced "ghana must go" bags in the national assembly. Political assassinations left right and centre. 3. Goodluck Jonathan I will not say much about this man. There are people here who believe he is the best president Nigeria ever has. But if you know, you know. We are still yet to recover from the damage his looting machines did to this country. |

Politics › Re: Lagos State Has Considered The Reopening Of Worship Centers And Economy(netwyz) by emilas1979(m): 3:01am On May 18, 2020 |
Long overdue, The lockdown strategies has proven ineffective hence the need to go back to God. Ka Chineke mezie okwu. olukiesy: READ >>> https://www.netwyzblog.com/2020/05/lagos-state-has-considered-reopening-of-worship-centers-and-economy.html
The Lagos government has said it plans to reopen critical sectors of its economy.
State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu revealed it today in a speech following a meeting of the State Security Council held at the State House in Marina.
According to the governor, the state government would implement the initiative to open the Register within the framework of plans that would allow it to assess the level of preparation of the actors in the sectors identified for the supervised operations. The governor said officials from the Lagos State Security Commission (LSSC) and the Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) would visit restaurants, businesses and religious houses to assess the level of preparation.
With the size of the State’s economy and numbers of businesses that operate in its domain, the Governor said the Government could not afford to keep people and businesses on lockdown permanently.
“We are at a level where we are reviewing the other arms of the economy. In the coming days, we will be starting what we call Register-to-Open, which means all players in the restaurant business, event centers, entertainment, malls and cinemas will go through a form of re-registration and space management. “There is a regulation that will be introduced to supervise this move. We will be coming to their facilities to assess their level of readiness for a future opening. I don’t know when that opening will happen in the weeks ahead, but we want these businesses to begin to tune themselves to the reality of COVID-19 with respect to how their workspaces need to look like.
Given the size of the state's economy and the number of businesses operating in its field, the governor said that Lagos could not afford to keep people and businesses closed all the time. “For us, it is not to say they should re-open fully tomorrow or any time; there has to be a process guiding the re-opening. We will be mandating LASEPA and Safety Commission to begin the enumeration process and the agencies will be communicating with all relevant businesses and houses in the days ahead. I must, however, caution that this should not be misinterpreted as a license for full opening; it is certainly not. The State’s economy is not ready for that now.” he said “We are reviewing and considering how the phased unlocking will happen. If we see a huge level of compliance, then it can happen in the next two to three weeks. If not, it could take a month or two months. It is until we are sure all of these players are ready to conform to our guidelines,” the Governor added, He called on businesses, religious houses and residents to maintain the status quo as the state works out the terms of a full reopening.
The governor revealed that 10 government personnel who tested positive for the coronavirus (COVID-19) had fully recovered and resumed their rhythm. He said disclosure is necessary to further promote transparency in state reporting and management of coronavirus cases. He ordered banks and markets to strictly enforce the order on their premises. He stressed that preference should be given to the elderly to conduct business transactions in banks and markets between 9:00 am. and 10:30 a.m., after which other young customers should be able to transact. |
