Crime › Re: Killing Of Rev Offu, Enough Is Enough: Great Ugbawka Youth Resolves To Defend by emilas1979(m): 3:55am On Aug 03, 2019 |
I concur chinwe1960: Great Ugbawka youth Association has once again sadden by the news of the murder of Rev. Fr Paul Offu by the suspected Fulani herdsmen along Ihe-Agbudu road in Agwu Local government area of Enugu state.
Offu, before he met his death along Ihe-Agbudu road while returning from an event on the 1st of August, 2019 was the parish Priest of St James the Great parish , Ugbawka.
Though the incidence did not take place in Ugbawka and the deceased Rev. Fr was not from Ugbawka, but his service as a parish Priest in Ugbawka will not be forgotten in haste. We are grieved. Our mothers are in tears, our fathers are weeping, our children are crying aloud, everybody is Mourning. We are greatly grieved.
We call on the state government and the local governments to do something about this security issues we are facing in our dear state. Enough of all these killings. Our people have died enough. It’s Rev Fr Offu today, who knows whose turn it would be tomorrow. Our security is no longer assured in our State. Our mothers are scared to go to their farms, our children are afraid to go to school, our people in cities are terrified to visit their home towns. We are no longer safe in our own land. Government should take action now before it’s too late. We wouldn’t allow these demon possessed monsters to continue to kill our people. We say enough is enough. If government fails to do something to end this evil in our land, we may consider self defence as the only option. We won’t fold our arms and allow ourselves to be killed like fowls.
You may recall how those same Fulani herdsmen, on the 15th of June 2019 robbed , kidnapped and raped our sisters who were coming back from market. Our people can no longer sleep with their two eyes closed for fear of Fulani herdsmen.
We join the family of the deceased priest and the Catholic faithfuls all over the world to condemn the killing of Rev Offu, and pray to God to accept his soul into external glory, while we charge our state and local governments to take immediate action to avoid such gruesome incidence in future time. *Comr Emmanuel Ebuka Chukwu, National president*

Who care, I think no body Gbgists: The Presidency has reacted to a list making the rounds of ‘Ministers-Designate and assigned portfolio’ by President Muhammadu Buhari.
Buhari had last Tuesday sent a list of potential ministers to the Senate for screening.
The lawmakers postponed their annual vacation to conduct the screening within five days.
All the 43 ministerial nominees sent to the Red Chamber have now been confirmed.
Buhari’s Special Assistant on New media, Bashir Ahmaad, on his Twitter page, urged Nigerians to disregard any list of ministers’ portfolio making the rounds on social media.
According to him, the list will be officially announced by President Buhari during inauguration.
Ahmad on his Twitter page wrote: “So someone makes a list of Ministers-Designate and assigned portfolio for them. The assigned list is now trending on WhatsApp as usual.
“DISREGARD any list please Nigerians. Portfolio will be announced by Mr. President after their inauguration as Ministers of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”

Well said Abdulazeez99: Former Minister of Aviation Femi Fani-Kayode has berated the confirmation of all the 43 ministerial nominees by the Nigerian Senate.
Igbere TV recalls that the confirmation was concluded earlier on Tuesday after the conclusion of the screening conducted by the upper chamber.
Fani-Kayode who made his view known through his twitter handle described the exercise a pitiful joke
Read his tweet below;
“When I was nominated to be a Minister by OBJ 13 years ago in 2006 I was screened by the Senate for no less than two hours and thirty gruelling and very difficult minutes on live television. There is no question that they did not ask me and there is none that I did not answer.”
“In those days days the Senate had great men and powerful intellectuals in its ranks. What we see today in the name of Ministerial screening is a pitiful joke. "Smile, show your teeth, bow and go" is NOT screening: it is a crass display of comic relief which is far below the Senate,” he added.

Mind game eyesoflagos: Tinubu’s 2023 Campaign Billboards Spotted At Ikeja source : https://eyesoflagos.com/2019/07/31/tinubus-2023-campaign-billboards-spotted-at-ikeja/
Two billboards with the inscription ‘BAT 2023’ and a popular photograph of Bola Tinubu, a former governor of Lagos State and national leader of the ruling All Progressives Congress Party, has been mounted on a building a few meters away from the Lagos State Government Secretariat in Alausa, Ikeja.
According to Eyes Of Lagos, the large billboards are so obvious that anyone coming from Allen Avenue towards Alausa, or from Ojodu Berger towards Ikeja would notice it.
Although the APC chieftain has yet to say anything concerning his political ambition for the 2023 elections, there have been rumours that he is planning to run for the Presidency in 2023.
It will be recalled that a former Senate President Bukola Saraki had claimed last year that the former governor was supporting President Muhammadu Buhari’s re-election with the hope that Buhari would, in turn, support him in 2023.
Tinubu’s recent statement concerning the death of the Afenifere Chieftain, Pa Fasoranti’s daughter by suspected herdsmen has spurred controversies among Nigerians, many of which have been asking if Tinubu was just being apologetic to the northern elites and President Muhammadu Buhari to get their support for his 2023 ambition.
It will be recalled that earlier in July, Tinubu’s spokesperson, Tunde Rahman, had reacted to pictures, caps, T-shirts, shirts and even leaflets with Bola Tinubu 2023 embossed on them.
Rahman had said, “We have seen pictures of caps, T-shirts, shirts and even leaflets with Bola Tinubu 2023 embossed on them purportedly by a faceless group which christened itself ‘Asiwaju Reloaded Ambassadors’.
“Neither the group nor its souvenirs are known to Asiwaju Bola Tinubu. We hereby, through this medium, categorically deny any knowledge of the group and dissociate Asiwaju Tinubu from the group’s unsolicited and unwarranted materials.” |

Maybe jarawa: President Muhammadu Buhari has described the late MKO Abiola as a bridge builder who could have prevented the religious and tribal issues besetting the country now from happening, if he had been allowed to rule Nigeria. Receiving Elders and Leaders of Thought from Ogun State at the State House, President Buhari said: “If MKO Abiola was allowed to rule, the religious and tribal issues now in Nigeria would not have been as strong, because he ran on a Muslim-Muslim ticket, chose his deputy from the Kanuri, a minority tribe and because of his personality, he went across Nigeria and was accepted.
“He used his resources and energy to convince Nigerians that all he wanted was a solid Nigeria and nothing else.” He said that he named the National Stadium after the late politician because he knows that the youths would want to find out why such an important national institution was named after MKO Abiola in future.
The Ogun State delegation, led by the governor, had come to thank the president for the honour done the late MKO Abiola, an indigene of the state, by conferring on him the highest national honour, Grand Commander of the Federal Republic (GCFR) for his ultimate sacrifice in enthroning democracy.
The delegation used the opportunity to solicit for the rehabilitation of some federal roads as well as other critical infrastructure in the state.

Politics › Re: Senate Working On A Friday Unprecedented, Says Sen. Sani by emilas1979(m): 5:57am On Jul 31, 2019 |
To achieve nothing Abeg, bow and go akelicious: Sen. Uba Sani says it is unprecedented for the senate to work on a Friday.
Sani, a senator of Kaduna Central Senatorial District, made this known in an interview at the National Assembly (NASS), Abuja on Tuesday.
He said the events of the past week clearly demonstrate the level of commitment of the 9th Assembly senate towards the progress of the country.
“Even the Senate President, who has been in the National Assembly for almost 20 years now made it clear that in all his stay in NASS, the senate has never worked on a Friday.
“This time around we all decided unanimously to put our personal interest, comfort and political affiliations aside and work for the interest of our country.
“Of course, what happened last week shows that this 9th senate is a different one, it is a senate that works for Nigeria, not for any section or personal interest, and I can assure you that what we did is just the beginning,” he said.
The senator also said the screening of forty three ministerial nominees in just a week has never happened.
Sani, also commended President Muhammadu Buhari in his choice of some of the ministerial nominees ,who have clearly demonstrated that they are competent and ready to get the job done.
“We will work closely with the executive arm of the government, but at the same time not take our oversight job lightly, we will be very serious about it, and make sure to do the needful.
“While working, we will make sure we have the interest of our country at heart, because that is paramount and most important.
“We will make sure we pass the budget whenever the President decides to bring it to the National Assembly,” he said.
Sani, however, said the senate will urged the executive arm of the government to submit the budget as early as September, so the budget can be passed on time and the president can start implementing major projects.
“We have procurement procedures, even if the budget is approved by the National Assembly, it will take nothing less than 3 months to initiate any major project in this country.
“The senate President has promised that we will try and suspend the plenary for at least a month and focus on the budget.
“So, we can pass the budget before December, and the President can start implementing major projects by January,” he said.
According to Sani, the inaugurated senate committee is not the most important thing, but working for the people of Nigeria is all that matters.

Sheriff ooo Shettima ooo Zulum ooo Same of the same. Good luck to you OrizuBlog: The Governor of Borno State, Babagana Zulum, has revealed the real causes of Boko Haram insurgency in the North-east state.
Zulum stated that poverty and unemployment were the causes of the increased activities of the dreaded terrorist group.
He made this known while speaking at the inauguration of a micro-credit facility and cash disbursement to petty traders, perishable sellers and retailers at Custom Market, Maiduguri.
Zulum however promised to address unemployment among youths and women in Borno State.
“There is nexus between security and economy; you could not have security without economic improvement,” he said.
“I promised to address the nagging problem of unemployment among youths and women; I will also work for the improvement of the social and economic condition of the people to achieve security, peace and stability in the state.”
Naija News recalls that a Dalori internally displaced persons (IDP) camp, in Maiduguri, Borno State, was recently attacked by suspected members of the Boko Haram terrorist group.
It was gathered that the suicide bombers who attacked the place at around 9 pm first struck before gunmen opened fire from different directions.
