Hmmm. Good points there. However further VAT increase may concentrate the burden on the private sector which employs a very large chunk of the poplation. It may also further discourage the already reluctant investors.

Like you said, almost everyone is paying tax already so what we should be discussing now is how to optimize the one being collected. Consider reducing cost of governace, contractors should be held accountable for the their job, ghost workers should be eradicated, fake oili importers collecting billions of Naira in subsidy should be hunted down etceteera.

It is my utmost beleive that if all these financial leakages are fixed there wont be the need to further increase the tax burden on the citizens either by way of VAT increase or bracket widening.

How much are we collecting? How much can reducing cost of governance contribute? Ghost workers and all are just peripheral. Corruption will everly exist even in d most advanced countries the rich people do alot of things to avoid paying taxes. Widening tax net is important

What's our revenue to Gdp Ratio? Nigeria is among the lowest countries in terms of paying taxes? This government is the best in terms of widening our tax net in the history of this country. People need to pay taxes and be responsible as well. Our VAT is one of the lowest in the world. Which tax is going to Iyaloja? I never saw Aregbe as a leader material honestly, people massively followed him in the 2007 governorship election here thinking that he's the solution to Osun state's leadership problem. He disappointed everyone following him, even those of us not really convinced about him from the onset he disappointed us join in his second tenure. I'm still waiting for his followers to rationalize the thought that brought the messing up of schools and wasting the state resources in Osun during Aregbe's tenure, it was not an informed decision at all. He wasted valuable state resources to close down some schools and merge different schools together, he also went ahead and made new school uniform too. I'm still looking for how the educational sector in Osun state benefited from that horrendous act.
Another area I'm still looking for closure/clarity is on how he desecrated the state finances before he left the government house, incoming governors are in for one hell of a ride mate. I can go on and on and on concerning Aregbe's misrule.

Very good we know him better now. Look at those Ekiti guys after Asiwaju won primary they dropped their grievances nd look at d larger picture even Amosun for that matter. I pray Adeleke have good knowledge to Govern dat state.

If Aregbe-rascal did not misrule Osun and desecrated the state treasury then Oyetola wouldn't need any dirty work to become the governor-elect in 2018. By the way, lemme correct your notion, the dirty work that brought in Oyetola as the governor was done by Senator Omisore and co. Omisore was rewarded for this with various incentives. He was under investigation by EFCC or so and had his passport ceized, suddenly the case got withdrawn and he was also appointed as the national secretary of APC even though he was not an APC member as at that 2018. Thinkabout it comrade.

Aregbesola is stone hearted person not a good leader as we thought. You don't over fight in this game of politics. In politics you win some nd loose some. He distracted Oyetola too much even b4 party primary. We will remind him in d future.
