Scammers please beware of kidnappers... |
The Bible only asks women to do this when praying (speaking with God) or prophesying (speaking for God) , anything more is self-inflicted bondage, tradition or sheer ignorance. Come to think of it, the heat these days... Huh?

The national grid, operated by the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), is a complex network of power generation, transmission, and distribution systems. The grid operates at a frequency of 50 Hz, with a total installed capacity of over 13,000 MW. Shutting down and restarting the grid requires a coordinated process to ensure safety, stability, and efficiency. _Shutting Down the National Grid_ When a shutdown is required, the following steps are taken: 1. Notification: The System Operator (SO) notifies all stakeholders, including generation and transmission companies, of the planned shutdown. 2. Load shedding: The SO implements load shedding to reduce the grid load to a minimum, typically 500 MW. 3. Generation reduction: Generators reduce their output to match the reduced load. 4. Grid synchronization: The grid is synchronized to ensure all generators are operating at the same frequency and voltage. 5. Shutdown: The grid is shut down, and all transmission lines and substations are de-energized. Planned shutdowns typically take 1-2 hours, while unplanned shutdowns due to emergencies can occur within minutes. _Restarting the National Grid_ To restart the grid, the following steps are taken: 1. *Grid re-synchronization*: The grid is re-synchronized to ensure all generators are operating at the same frequency and voltage. 2. *Generation ramp-up*: Generators ramp up their output to match the increasing load. 3. *Load restoration*: The SO restores load in stages, prioritizing critical infrastructure and essential services. 4. *Grid stabilization*: The grid is stabilized, and voltage and frequency are monitored to ensure stability. Restarting the grid after a planned shutdown typically takes 2-4 hours, while restarting after an unplanned shutdown can take longer, typically between 4-24 hours, depending on the extent of the outage and repairs needed. In conclusion, shutting down and restarting Nigeria's national grid requires a coordinated process involving multiple stakeholders and technical expertise. Understanding the technical details of this process highlights the complexity and importance of grid management in ensuring a stable and reliable power supply.

The Redeemed Christian Church of God has suspended the Senior Pastor of the City of David Parish in Lagos State, Idowu Iluyomade. The suspension of Iluyomade, who also heads the Apapa Family of the church’s annex, came after the elaborate 60th birthday celebration of his wife, Siju. According to a source who spoke with Church Times, the pastor got the letter of his suspension over the weekend and was replaced by Pastor Charles Kpandei of the church’s Resurrection Parish Region 11 with immediate effect. The source added that Iluyomade was suspended for three months by the Governing Council of the church after a panel was constituted to look into the allegations against him and the parish. A top pastor in the church who prefers to be anonymous told Church Times that the decision to suspend Iluyomade is a response to the public outcry against the extravagant birthday party of his wife shortly after the death of the then Chief Executive Officer of Access Bank, Herbert Wigwe. Fondly called PID, Iluyomade has been in the eyes of the storm following the 60th birthday of his wife, Siji. Related News Many people believed the birthday, which was celebrated just about a week after the death of Wigwe in a helicopter crash in the US, was in bad taste. Wigwe had been an immense blessing to the church before his transition. But the birthday party suggested the church had no emotional attachment to him. Apart from being in charge of the City of David, Iluyomade is the Special Assistant to the RCCG General Overseer on Christian Social Responsibility through His Love Foundation. It’s not clear yet if this responsibility has been taken from him, too. Meanwhile, PUNCH Online also gathered that the pastor was suspended on two issues bordering on the audit of the church and the alleged resistance by the pastor to be transferred from the parish. Our source, who craved anonymity because of the weight of the matter, said, “The church’s Governing Council met on two issues, the issue of an audit of the church where questions were asked and the issue that the pastor allegedly resisted transfer. “The council then resolved to suspend Iluyomade for three months, during which time the pastor next to him will be in charge. “When he resumes from suspension, the council also resolved that he should resume at the church’s headquarters, not the City of David.” https://punchng.com/rccg-suspends-city-of-davids-pastor-iluyomade/

In a historic move, the National Assembly of the Federal Republic of Nigeria has proposed a new constitution to replace the existing 1999 Constitution. The new governance model is based on a federal/regional system, aiming to address the country's long-standing issues with governance and representation. According to the draft bill, the 1999 Constitution was imposed by the military government without the consent of the people and is not autochthonous. The new constitution seeks to recognize the rights of ethnic nationalities and peoples in Nigeria to self-determination and self-government within their respective territories. The proposed governance structure consists of regional governments and a federal government, with powers and responsibilities clearly defined. The regional governments will have the authority to establish their own institutions and representation in the federal government. A transition committee will be established to oversee the transition from the current constitution to the new governance model, with a specified timeframe for completion. The new constitution is subject to a referendum by the people of Nigeria and is expected to come into effect on October 1, 2024, if approved. This development marks a significant step towards addressing Nigeria's governance challenges and promoting a more inclusive and representative system.

Nigeria's ice block sellers are playing with fire by embracing a dangerous solution to the country's unreliable power supply. With electricity tariffs skyrocketing, many are resorting to freezing chemicals like liquid nitrogen, salt, and water to produce ice blocks at breakneck speed. But experts warn that this desperate measure comes with a deadly price. The use of freezing chemicals is a ticking time bomb, posing severe health risks to consumers and ice block sellers alike. Exposure to these toxic substances can cause severe burns, respiratory problems, and even death. Yet, ice block sellers like Mrs. Fausat Tijani are willing to gamble with their lives to keep their businesses afloat. "We can't rely on electricity anymore," she says with a hint of desperation. "This chemical method is faster and more reliable, but I know it's risky." As the power supply continues to falter, ice block sellers are trapped in a dangerous cycle of survival. With electricity tariffs increasing by as much as 300%, small businesses like ice block sellers are suffocating under the weight of their expenses. "We're already struggling to survive," says Mrs. Opeyemi Mautin, a soft drink and bottled water wholesaler. "If we don't find a way to keep our products cool, we'll be out of business. But at what cost?" The consequences of this desperate measure are already manifesting. Reports of ice block-related poisoning and injuries are on the rise, leaving families devastated and communities in fear. The once-thriving ice block industry is now a ticking time bomb, waiting to unleash a deadly catastrophe on unsuspecting consumers. As Nigeria's power supply continues to falter, ice block sellers are forced to choose between their livelihoods and their lives. Will they find a safer solution before it's too late, or will the deadly embrace of freezing chemicals become their final goodbye?" It might interest you to note that the Bible does not specifically command or require believers to close their eyes when praying. While it is common for individuals to close their eyes as a way to focus and eliminate distractions during prayer, it is not a mandatory practice dictated by Scripture. The Bible offers guidance and principles on prayer, emphasizing the importance of a sincere and humble heart, faith, reverence, and seeking God's will. It encourages believers to pray with sincerity, honesty, and devotion, whether their eyes are open or closed. In various instances throughout the Bible, people prayed with their eyes open, looking up to heaven, or even bowing down with their faces to the ground. Examples include Jesus' prayer in John 17:1, the prayer of Solomon in 1 Kings 8:22-54, and the prayer of the tax collector in Luke 18:13. Ultimately, the posture and manner in which one prays, including whether to close their eyes or not, can be a personal preference or a means to enhance concentration and focus during prayer. The most important aspect of prayer is the sincere communication and connection with God, expressing one's thoughts, feelings, and needs. Share your thoughts... |
