StudentsNG:
Hi friends!

Just to report that I landed safely yesterday. I also want to share list of documents required at POE to help our new thread followers. I landed at Toronto, passed through security/custom checks, filled an asset declaration form (showing that I do not have up to 10,000CDN or more with me handy and then went direct to the Boarder Services to get my Study Permit.

First, the officer will ask (Where you are coming from and Why have you come into canada - what did you come to do). Tell them your country and that you are here for studies.

Documents:
1. Acceptance Letter from School (showing that you met conditions of admission. Come along with any document satisfying any listed conditions if any).
2. Introduction Letter from CIC (the visa approval letter).
3. If you have paid any fees, show evidence.
4. If there were vital communication between you and your school (maybe via emails), do print them out. You may need them.
5. And of course your Int'l Passport!

Once done they will ask you to sit down and then call you in few mins to hand over your permit to you. Next thing after that is your Insurance (Health Card). If your next connecting flight is almost ready, they will tell you to go and complete that later when you arrive at school. If not, you will do it there and fast.

With your study permit in your hands, you are welcome!

I stayed back in the Airport to open bank account and paid in my cash (USDs) into my Canadian Account, got ATM card, Online Banking Logiins, etc within 30 mins. Very fast!

I'm writing from Regina, and I'm all fine here. Aside the UNFRIENDLY COLD AND SNOWY WEATHER.

I wish all travel & trv hopefuls success. I will always help with anything I can. Cheers guys and thanks for the gurus who provided help and guide during my application and travel.

Wilfred.
Will be joining you soon. Which airline did you use and how much was the fare?? What are the foodstuffs you carried?

I still prefer McMaster but you need to a deeper research on the reputation of your course in these schools.

Did any of them offer you scholarship or co op?
bro I didnt say I got admission at Mcmaster... I said between ryerson university in toronto and western university in london.

Looks like you got admission to McMaster and ryerson.
McMaster is a top school - one of the 10 best schools in Canada and in the world's top 200. Ryerson is way below. Google McMaster and I bet you won't even consider ryerson

Ryerson is in heart of Toronto which means that cost of living/rent would be more expensive than McMaster in Ontario. I'm not in Canada but I've done a bit of research on these kind of things.
Good analysis, the second school is actually western University not Mcmaster. What do you think?

Be true to yourself and make friends. Ask questions (especially from your Nigerian friends); they have probably gone through what your about to experience. Stay informed. Rules change all the time so u gotta be up to date.
Boss, which do you recommend.. life in toronto or london in ontario.. I have admission in both schools in both cities.

Whatever food you like is fine. Meanwhile Canadian border security has its own list of prohibited items like diary products, meat, fish (including gala). Beverages that have milk has the first ingredient will also be removed. As long as you declare all the items ure bringing in including cash; you should be fine.
Thanks, i appreciate.. am entering there as a jjc, any personal advice i should have in mind?

I just went through the thread and I am on the lookout for emma4eva, I hope the moniker is right? You were asked to do another medical test right?

I am passionate about the outcome of the advice given you and if it is not too much you could click on my moniker to check my experience as regards a request for a fresh medicals when the previous one wasn't yet expired. It might just help. I went to Consultant Practice for a fresh one, thanks to Hayqinxfb's advice .
Cheers
I did the medical test july 27th dis year, i got medical passed 2 days later, though i was denied aftwrwards. I have sent a mail to accra attaching my medical information sheet, if i dont get any reply by monday or tuesday, i will go for a new medical test on wednesday. Thanks for ur concern.
