PoliticsNDC Guber Primary: Fubara Leads In 15 Rivers Local Government Areas by Emmalez(op): 5:22pm On May 30
The coast may getting clearer for top contender, Blessing Fubara to emerge as the governorship flag bearer of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) in Rivers state as the results so far collated show him leading in fifteen out of the 23 local government areas with wide margin

Four aspirants, including Blessing Fubara Snr. Dumo Lulu Briggs, Fafahdan Princewill and Mike Willy are in the race to seek the NDC ticket to contest the 2027 governorship election in Rivers State.

According to a statement issued Saturday by the Coalition of Obidient/Kwankwasiyya Movement primary election observer group, the election has been peaceful in Rivers state, while coalition is currently ongoing with Blessing Fubara showing a strong lead in about 15 LGAs

The observer group in the statement issued by George Brown, Hon. Victor F. Heart, and Shriff Farouk for the Obidient Movement, as well as Eric Koko, Ibiwari George Green and Mohammed Abdullahi for the Kwankwasiyya Movement, said the coalition, in its desire to ensure transparency in the NDC primary election across the country, dispatched its members across the country to follow and monitor the conduct of the primary election committee in the states with due diligence, adding that the conduct has been very peaceful and commendable in Rivers State.

The OK Movement therefore warned all aspirants to desist from taking the media spaces available to them to cause confusion and ridicule the smooth conduct of the primary election, warning that no individual should announce any illegal result or declare himself winner, while coalition of results is still ongoing, saying it is only the party-empowered election committee that has the right to do so

The group therefore urged the public and members of the NDC in Rivers state to ignore and disregard any primary election result that did not officially come from the party

The statement further commended the outcome of the NDC members at the various venues of the primary election in Rivers state, stressing that the huge number was an indication that the NDC will make a commendable statement in the state during the 2027 polls

According to the statement, "based on the results so far collated in 15 LGAs, Blessing Fubara Snr has shown a wide lead, over the other aspirants, but we are yet to get the final result and no individual including the aspirants or group is permitted to announced any result. The only authentic result will be declared by the primary election committee and the party after all results have been collated

"We therefore call on the aspirants and their supporters to desist from the ongoing social media declaration as no result has been declared yet in the Rivers NDC governorship primary elections. The committee is still at work.

"Some of the desperate aspirants are going contrary to the party’s desire by making unofficial declarations on social media outlets. This is not acceptable, as it amounts to putting the NDC like the other political parties which the party has taken serious steps to be different from

"The OK primary election observer group therefore warns all the aspirants in all the states to remove desperation and allow the election committees to do their party assigned duties diligently as directed by the NDC leadership"

The observer group similarly warned the members of the committee in Rivers and other states not to allow themselves to be used by desperate aspirants to compromise the outcome of the governorship primaries, as doing so will mean the NDC has not shown any difference with the other political parties it has distanced itself from

"They must be fair and transparent enough to ensure that the votes of the members who have shown serious commitment to the NDC, by coming out in their numbers to pick their candidate for the governorship election must count," the OK observer group warned

RomanceMan Cancels Wedding After Fiancée Allegedly Blows ₦23 Million Land Money by Emmalez(op): 10:45am On Apr 09
Man Cancels Wedding After Fiancée Allegedly Blows ₦23 Million Land Money on Expensive Wigs

A story that sounds straight out of a Nollywood blockbuster has left many Nigerians in shock after a man reportedly called off his wedding following the discovery of his fiancée’s alleged betrayal involving millions meant for land purchase.

The drama, which has been making rounds on social media and was even discussed on radio stations in Enugu, centres on a man based abroad who trusted his long-term girlfriend with nearly ₦23 million to buy a piece of land in Enugu ahead of their planned wedding.

According to a widely shared post by popular X user Benkingsley Nwashara (@Benking443), things took a dramatic turn when the man returned to Nigeria for the wedding and asked his fiancée to take him to see the property.

She reportedly drove him deep inside Nike village, an area well-known to locals where land prices typically range between ₦4 million and ₦5 million – nowhere near the ₦23 million figure she had claimed.

That was when the cracks began to show.

The man’s family immediately got the police involved. During the investigation, it was discovered that the fiancée had actually purchased the land for just ₦4.5 million.

But the story didn’t end there.

Sources close to the investigation revealed that she allegedly gave ₦2 million to the sellers and ₦1 million to the agent – all in a desperate bid to get them to back her up and falsely claim the land was worth the full ₦23 million.

A full-blown cover-up that eventually came crashing down.

The wedding was immediately called off.

When questioned by authorities, the woman reportedly admitted that a huge portion of the money had been spent on expensive wigs worth millions of naira and other personal expenses.

What makes the story even more painful is that this wasn’t some random person. The man had been in a relationship with her for years. She was someone he trusted enough to build a future with – the woman he wanted to spend the rest of his life with.

Just like that, everything collapsed.

Social media users have been reacting massively to the story, with many describing it as “something out of a movie.” The post by @Benking443 has sparked heated conversations online, with some calling it a classic case of “love gone sour” while others warn young men in long-distance relationships to be extra careful.

As of now, no official statement has been released by either party, but the details shared so far have left many questioning how far some people can go when big money is involved.

This incident has once again brought to the fore the importance of due diligence, especially when dealing with large sums for property transactions, even when love and trust are supposedly involved.

What do you make of this story? Would you have called off the wedding immediately like the man did? Drop your thoughts in the comment section below.

Video; Soldier's Mother Breaks Down in Tears, Accuses Leaders of Selling Troops to Die in the Bush

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=elu1lfn8siU

A distraught widow and mother of a serving Nigerian soldier has cried out in a viral video, accusing the Federal Government and military authorities of abandoning troops fighting insurgents across the country.

The woman, whose late husband put in 36 years of service in the Army, also claimed that his death benefits are still being withheld till date.

Speaking passionately in Pidgin English in the clip shared on Facebook, the elderly woman begged authorities to rescue soldiers deployed in forests and remote areas, especially in the North-East where the fight against Boko Haram and other insurgents has dragged on for years.

The video has triggered fresh outrage online as families of soldiers continue to complain about poor welfare, lack of proper support, and the harsh conditions their loved ones face on the battlefield.

In the emotional clip, the widow said she had already advised her son to abandon the frontlines if the suffering becomes too much.

“We are begging you people; our children are in the bush. I tell my son if e no fit, come back home, God will feed us. My husband do Army work 36 years, they never encountered this thing, but small children are suffering in the bush,” she said.

She did not hold back, accusing Nigerian leaders of using soldiers for personal gain while leaving them to die.

“Una take our children dey make money. Nigerian leaders, it will never better for you people. I tell my son if you not fit, come back home, no be by force. Make I even see my son dead body. Nigeria government, please do something about our children in the bush.

“Please, I be old soldier wife. My son join Army, e dey inside bush crying. Please Nigeria, we are begging you people, make una no leave our children to die every day. Una dey sell our children to take dey make money, and then they are dying in the bush,” she added with visible pain.

At one point, the woman turned to God for justice.

“God of revenger, revenge for our children. I am saying this with heartbreak. To see a soldier crying like this. God of vengeance rise.”

She also spoke bitterly about her late husband’s unpaid entitlements.

“My husband do 36 years for this army, but still till today, his remaining money say if dem no pay, soldier go useless the money. Till today my husband money is still there hanging in their hand. The God of revengers, the God of widows will stand for me; he will stand for my pikin in the bush,” she declared.

Crime26-year-old Woman Found Lifeless At Boyfriend’s Doorstep, Suspect On The Run by Emmalez(op): 2:18pm On Mar 13
A heartbreaking incident has left residents of Ojoo in shock after the body of 26-year-old Precious Mogaji was discovered lifeless in the early hours of March 7, 2026, right in front of her boyfriend’s room in the Oguntula area of Ojoo, Ibadan.

According to the Oyo State Police Command, officers from the Ojoo Division received a distress call around 5:00 a.m. from a good Samaritan who found the young woman lying motionless at the entrance. Police quickly responded, documented the scene, and moved her body to a hospital morgue where an autopsy is being conducted to establish the exact cause of death.

Initial rumors spread rapidly on social media, with some claiming the incident involved a man hiding his wife’s body in a car trunk in Akobo. The police have firmly debunked these reports, confirming the location as Oguntula in Ojoo—not Akobo—and clarifying that the victim was not married to the suspect.

The primary suspect is Precious’s 29-year-old boyfriend, Quadri Mohammed, who has been missing since the body was discovered. Sources close to the investigation indicate that Mohammed may be a former NYSC corps member who stayed back in the area after his service. The Oyo State Police Command has launched a manhunt and is appealing to the public for any information that could lead to his whereabouts.

Reports from those familiar with the couple suggest the relationship had been troubled and toxic for some time. Precious reportedly kept returning to Quadri despite the issues. On the night of her death, it is believed she had gone back to his place intending to pack her belongings and end the relationship for good.

This case once again highlights the dangers women face in abusive and volatile relationships. Many are calling for greater awareness, support systems, and swift justice in cases of domestic violence that escalate tragically.

The Oyo State Police Command urges anyone with useful information about Quadri Mohammed’s location to contact the nearest police station or the Ojoo Division immediately. Report Naija stands with the family of Precious Mogaji and demands justice for her untimely death.

No life should end like this. Domestic violence is never acceptable—reach out for help before it’s too late. If you or someone you know is in a dangerous situation, seek support from trusted authorities or organizations.

Kano Hisbah Arrests Two Teenagers Over Alleged Plan for ‘Gay’ Birthday Party After Eid Prayers

The Kano State Hisbah Board has arrested two teenage boys, Umar Yahaya, 19, and Musa Al-Hassan, 18, over an alleged plan to organize what authorities described as a “gay” birthday party in the state.

According to the board’s Deputy Commander, Mujahideen Aminudeen, the teenagers were apprehended after intelligence reports suggested they were making arrangements for the event to take place shortly after the Eid-el-Fitr prayers marking the end of Ramadan.

Aminudeen disclosed that the suspects, who reportedly identified themselves as Yan Daudu (pimps), had allegedly used social media platforms to invite individuals from different parts of the country to attend the gathering. The planned event, he said, was expected to feature dancing and activities the Hisbah Board considers immoral.

The deputy commander stated that during interrogation, the teenagers admitted to their actions and expressed regret over the plan.

He explained that instead of prosecuting the suspects or sending them to jail, the board decided to place them under its supervision where they would undergo religious counseling and guidance.

Aminudeen also revealed that the Hisbah Board would intensify monitoring of mosques and public spaces during the final days of Ramadan. According to him, the measure is aimed at ensuring that night prayers and other gatherings are not used for activities considered inappropriate by the board.

The Kano State Hisbah Board is responsible for enforcing Islamic moral codes in the state.

This is not the first time Cynosure Aesthetic Plastic Surgery has been linked to patient deaths. Reports from various sources indicate the clinic has faced allegations in multiple cases over the years, including fatalities in 2022, 2023, 2025, and now 2026. Online reviews and social media accounts claim the hospital has recorded around 20 death-related complaints from bereaved families and friends. In previous incidents, such as the 2022 death of a woman named Crystabel after a liposuction procedure, the clinic issued statements attributing complications to normal surgical risks, but critics argue negligence may play a role.

Cosmetic surgeries like BBLs, which involve fat transfer through liposuction, are known to carry significant dangers. Medical experts warn that even in the best facilities, risks include fat embolism, pulmonary embolism, or sepsis—conditions that can lead to sudden death. Despite awareness campaigns and warnings about these hazards, the allure of body enhancements continues to draw many, often fueled by social media promotions and discounts.

The surge in cosmetic procedures in Nigeria has been notable, with clinics in upscale areas like Ikoyi attracting clients seeking quick transformations. However, stories like Elena's underscore the need for stricter regulations and thorough vetting of medical providers. Health authorities have yet to comment on this latest case, but calls for an investigation are growing online.

As the community grieves, Elena's story serves as a stark reminder: beauty standards should never come at the cost of life. Our thoughts are with her family, especially her twin sister, during this difficult time.

In what many are calling an act of pure courage, a victim identified simply as Adebayo turned the tables on a gang of armed robbers who trailed him to the popular Iya Femi Restaurant yesterday afternoon.

The incident occurred on March 6, 2026, around 3 p.m. along Shiroro Road. Eyewitnesses say the robbers had allegedly followed Adebayo from Taj Bank before confronting him at the restaurant with a rifle, demanding his cash estimated at around ₦10 million.

But instead of handing over the money, the victim fought back fiercely. In a swift move that has since gone viral, he overpowered one of the attackers, grabbed the rifle from his hands, and opened fire, wounding the robber on the spot.

While the injured robber was left behind, the rest of the gang quickly fled with Adebayo’s car and the money inside.

Police officers who responded to the scene recovered the rifle used in the attack as well as the robbers’ abandoned vehicle. The case has now been handed over to the State Criminal Investigation Department for full investigation.

Videos of the dramatic confrontation have flooded social media platforms, with many Nigerians hailing Adebayo as a hero amid the growing insecurity in Minna. “This man showed real bravery,” one commenter wrote. “In a time when people are scared to fight back, he did what needed to be done.”

Christianity EtcSamuel Godwin Oche: Kaduna Pastor Commits Suicide After Gay Video Resurface (Pix by Emmalez(op): 7:01pm On Mar 02
In a heartbreaking development that has sent shockwaves through religious communities in northern Nigeria, Prophet Samuel Goodwin Oche, a Benue indigene who had been ministering in Kaduna, has reportedly died by suicide. The incident follows the recent resurfacing of an alleged sexual video from 2018, purportedly showing him in an intimate encounter with another man.

Sources close to the matter indicate that Prophet Oche, popularly known as "Talk and Do" among his congregation, had been facing intense scrutiny and public pressure after the video began circulating online again. The clip, which dates back several years, allegedly depicts acts of sodomy, leading to widespread speculation and commentary on social media platforms.

According to reports gathered from local witnesses and online discussions, the pastor had managed to weather similar rumors in the past but found the latest wave overwhelming. "He was able to withstand the situation back then, but this latest resurfacing seemed to bring intense pressure and scrutiny that he couldn't handle," noted one account from a Facebook post by Elijah S. Nelson, who shared details of the story after fact-checking initial claims.

Pastor Oche leaves behind a wife and two young children, a detail that has amplified the tragedy for many observers. "This is the only painful part of the whole situation, which is even more heartbreaking—not his life that he didn't value," Nelson wrote in his post, emphasizing the human cost beyond the scandal. Community members have expressed sorrow over the loss, with some pointing to the relentless nature of online shaming and its toll on mental health.

The prophet's death has sparked broader conversations about the pressures faced by religious leaders in Nigeria, where societal expectations and personal struggles often collide. Many young and upcoming pastors are under immense strain to succeed and attract followers, sometimes leading to desperate measures, as highlighted in online discussions surrounding the case.

This incident serves as a painful reminder that the internet never forgets, and public shame can destroy lives. Mental health struggles are real, even for those we least expect, like community pillars such as pastors. As Nigerians, we must learn to be careful with our words, verify information before spreading it, and remember that behind every headline is a human being.

CrimeUS Court Sentences Nigerian Man To 19 Years For $4M Fraud And Sham Marriage by Emmalez(op): 5:58pm On Feb 27
Nigerian citizen who attempted to unlawfully obtain U.S. residency through fraudulent marriages sentenced in $4 million conspiracy

HOUSTON – A 40-year-old man who illegally resided in Houston has been ordered to federal prison for his role in a romance scam and business email compromise scheme, announced U.S. Attorney Nicholas J. Ganjei.

Leslie Chinedu Mba pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit wire fraud and conspiracy to commit false statements in immigration documents Dec. 4, 2025.

U.S. District Judge David Hittner has now ordered Mba to serve 228 months in federal prison. Not a U.S. citizen, he is expected to face removal proceedings following his imprisonment. At the hearing, the court heard that victims were defrauded of over $4 million.

A United States District Court has handed down a hefty 19-year prison sentence to Nigerian national Leslie Chinedu Mba for his involvement in a sophisticated $4 million fraud operation that combined romance scams, business email compromises, and attempts to secure U.S. residency through fake marriages. The 40-year-old, who had been living illegally in Houston, pleaded guilty last December and now faces deportation back to Nigeria once his term is served.

Mba's schemes, which ran from April 2018 to December 2023, preyed on vulnerable individuals and businesses, racking up losses exceeding $4 million. In the romance scams, fraudsters built fake relationships online to extract money from lonely victims, often seniors. The business email compromise involved hacking into company accounts to redirect legitimate payments to fraudulent ones controlled by Mba and his accomplices. Mba acted as a "money mule," using bank accounts to launder and move the stolen funds.

Adding another layer to his crimes, Mba tried multiple times to gain permanent U.S. residency through sham marriages, including to elderly women, after his initial immigration application was denied and he was ordered removed from the country. He pleaded guilty on December 4, 2025, to conspiracy to commit wire fraud and making false statements in immigration documents. U.S. District Judge David Hittner sentenced him to 228 months in federal prison on February 26, 2026, with Mba remaining in custody until transfer to a Bureau of Prisons facility.

Mba didn't act alone. Four co-conspirators from Houston—Grace Morisho, 30; Rodgers Kadikilo, 30; Kristin Smith, 38; and Alexandra Golovko, 36—had already pleaded guilty to similar charges. Their sentences ranged from 15 to 25 months in prison for Morisho, Kadikilo, and Smith, while Golovko received five years of probation. The investigation was led by the FBI with help from the Houston Police Department.

U.S. Attorney Nicholas J. Ganjei didn't mince words about the case: “Romance scams are among the lowest and most despicable form of fraud because they prey upon the lonely and vulnerable, and disproportionately victimize senior citizens. These online scams Mba and his friends perpetrated jeopardized the livelihood of family-run businesses, the ability of elderly individuals to retire, and exploited the trust that fuels our economy. Even worse, Mba and his confederates committed these crimes while attempting to remain in our country under false pretenses by deceiving immigration authorities. Now, Mba has prison to look forward to, followed by a one-way ticket back to Nigeria.”

CelebritiesTwo Filmmakers Found Dead In Vehicle During Movie Shoot In Lekki by Emmalez(op): 6:42pm On Feb 24
In a shocking turn of events that has sent ripples through Nigeria's vibrant film industry, two seasoned Nollywood crew members were discovered dead under mysterious circumstances on a movie set in Lekki, Lagos. The incident, which occurred earlier this month, has raised questions about safety protocols on film productions and left colleagues and fans mourning the untimely loss.

The victims have been identified as Gabriel Emir, popularly known as GT or God's Time, a respected lighting director and owner of a lighting equipment rental business, and Ayodeji, also referred to as Deji or Iodi, a talented cinematographer and creative video maker. The two, who were close friends and frequent collaborators, were found unresponsive in GT's vehicle parked at the set near Evercare Hospital in Lekki Phase 1 on February 7, 2026.

According to details emerging from the production, the duo arrived early that Saturday to handle lighting and scene setups for an ongoing film shoot. After completing their initial tasks, they reportedly took a break in the vehicle with the air conditioning running. Around 11 a.m., members of the welfare team delivered food to them, which they consumed inside the car as principal photography kicked off.

Filming continued throughout the day without their direct involvement, with assistants stepping in where needed. It wasn't until the wrap around 8 p.m. that the crew realized something was amiss. Upon checking the vehicle, they found Gabriel slumped over with foam around his mouth and Ayodeji unresponsive, showing no obvious signs of struggle or injury. The car itself appeared undisturbed, with no evidence of foul play such as broken windows or forced entry.

Emergency services were called, and the bodies were rushed to a nearby hospital—possibly Evercare—where they were pronounced dead. The Lagos State Police quickly took over the scene, and the case was handed to the State Criminal Investigation Department for a thorough probe.

An autopsy has since been conducted, ruling out food poisoning as the cause of death. One victim had an empty stomach, while the other showed minimal food residue, which has puzzled investigators. Toxicology reports are pending, with results expected in the coming weeks to check for possible exposure to poisons, chemicals, or gases. Initial suspicions led to the brief detention of welfare staff and food providers, but they were released after the autopsy findings.

Speculation has swirled around the possibility of carbon monoxide poisoning, a silent killer that can build up in enclosed spaces like a running vehicle with poor ventilation. Industry insiders have noted that long hours and high-pressure environments on sets can lead to oversights in personal safety, and this tragedy underscores the need for better awareness.

God's Time and Ayodeji were pillars in Nollywood's behind-the-scenes world, often working on major projects without the spotlight that actors enjoy. Their deaths come amid a string of recent misfortunes in the industry, including other on-set accidents, highlighting the risks faced by crew members who are the unsung heroes of Nigerian cinema.

Education6 LAUTECH Nursing Students Die In Crash En Route To Final Examination by Emmalez(op): 4:01pm On Feb 24
In a heartbreaking incident that has sent shockwaves through Nigeria's nursing community, six final-year students from Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) lost their lives in a fatal road crash while traveling to sit for their examinations. The accident occurred on the Suleja-Abuja Expressway on February 22, claiming the lives of the students, their driver, and an unborn child, as one of the victims was heavily pregnant and nearing her due date.

The victims, all women in their 500-level of the university's Open and Distance Learning (ODL) Bachelor of Nursing Science program, were registered nurses who had been juggling demanding jobs with their studies. They were en route to Ogbomoso in Oyo State for face-to-face facilitation and semester exams when their vehicle was reportedly crushed by a trailer in Kwara State, leading to the devastating outcome. Sources indicate the students were expected to resume academic activities on February 23, but the tragedy struck just a day prior, turning what should have been a milestone journey into an unimaginable loss.

Eyewitness accounts and initial reports suggest poor road conditions and the program's requirement for travel to a single exam center may have contributed to the risks faced by these dedicated professionals. The Nigerian Nurses Forum and the Elegant Nurses Forum have both issued statements expressing profound sorrow, highlighting the victims' commitment to advancing their careers despite the challenges. "These were hardworking women balancing family, work, and education. One among them was on the verge of motherhood—it's a double tragedy that words can't fully capture," a forum representative noted in a public release.

Tributes have poured in from across the country, with fellow students, healthcare workers, and the wider public sharing prayers and calls for action. Anger is mounting over the centralized testing system that forces long-distance travel, especially on Nigeria's often hazardous highways. Advocacy groups are now pushing for decentralized exam options and urgent infrastructure improvements to prevent such needless losses in the future.

As of this reporting, two of the bodies have already been laid to rest amid emotional ceremonies, while families and the LAUTECH community are grieving.
ReportNaija extends its deepest condolences to the affected families and urges authorities to prioritize safer educational and transportation frameworks for all Nigerians.

Christianity EtcRCCG Pastor Abiodun Curses Woman To Die For Calling Him 'Mr' Instead Of 'Dr' by Emmalez(op): 9:09pm On Feb 23
In a bizarre online spat that's got Nigerians buzzing on X (formerly Twitter), an RCCG youth pastor has publicly cursed a woman to die tonight after she repeatedly called him "mr" in lowercase, refusing to acknowledge his self-proclaimed "Dr" title. The drama unfolded earlier today, drawing thousands of views, laughs, and sharp criticisms from netizens who accused the pastor of misusing his "anointing" for personal ego trips.

The feud kicked off when Pastor Bola Abiodun, who goes by @b_abiodun4 on X and describes himself in his bio as a husband, father of four, and a first-class honors graduate from "Lamba University" in Yola, Nigeria, corrected UK-based Tomisin, known on the platform as @tomisin_ms. Tomisin, a health and safety professional and mother living in the UK, had referred to him as "mr" in a reply. Abiodun fired back: "I'm a 'Dr', not a 'Mr'. Don't refer to me as MR again. I'm not your mate."

Instead of backing down, Tomisin doubled down with a cheeky troll, replying "mr with the small m." What followed was a hilarious yet escalating exchange where she spammed "mr" multiple times in successive posts, clearly enjoying the back-and-forth. Abiodun, growing increasingly agitated, warned her about his "anointing," quoting the Bible: "I'm anointed man of god. I can curse you now and it'll take effect for the rest of your lives. Bible says touch not my anointed and do my prophet no harm. Try me and see. I'm a messenger from god."

He upped the ante, claiming he's a "dangerous man" whose "tongue carries fire" and pitying her enough not to issue a "lifelong curse." Tomisin, unfazed, responded: "I’m bored now, when are you going to show me how dangerous you are mr bola abiodun?"

The climax came when Abiodun formally pronounced the curse: "I, Pastor Dr Bola Abiodun, hereby pronounce a curse on u that if you don't retract & apologize for not calling me by my appropriate titles, u shall pass on to glory in your sleep at 11pm on 23rd Feb, '26. If you wake up tomorrow morning then I'm not a man of God& I'm a bastard." He later reinforced it, pleading with others not to beg on her behalf: "Please nobody should beg me on behalf of this girl o. She disrespected me and I've placed a curse on her. No one can mess with my anointing and go scot free."

As the 11pm deadline approaches (that's 10pm GMT for Tomisin in the UK), X users have turned the thread into a meme fest. One user quipped, "3 hrs 49 minutes to go 😅," while another mocked, "Everybody say merlin 🤣🤣." Religious commentators weighed in too, with one saying, "Dear MR Abiodun, do you know you cannot curse a man whom Jesus hung on the cross forhuh Your curse is causeless." Others questioned the pastor's behavior: "Pastor for bible dey preach. Apostle's dey raise dead. But see pastor here dey curse member. Doctor wey suppose treat sick won kill person. Mr biodun oga o."

Tomisin hasn't retracted or apologized, and her last visible activity in the thread was hours ago. Netizens are bookmarking the posts, eagerly awaiting tomorrow to see if Abiodun will own up to his bold claim. "If 11pm knack and nothing do this girl I go too curse you Dr Mr Bola Abiodun 😂," one user threatened in reply.

This incident has sparked broader conversations about titles in Nigerian religious circles, where pastors often demand reverence for academic or spiritual honors. Abiodun's bio proudly flaunts his "First Class Hons." degree and RCCG role at Christ the Rock Parish, but critics argue such ego-driven clashes undermine the message of love and forgiveness in Christianity

"Why don't you go out on your birthdays?" she quoted a common question, before revealing the reason with graphic photos of her injuries. The images showed deep abrasions on her foot and arm from sliding across asphalt after colliding with another motorcycle. CrimeNigerian Man Jailed 8 Years In US For Masterminding $1.3 Million Tax Fraud Schem by Emmalez(op): 3:37pm On Feb 19
Nigerian Man Jailed 8 Years in US for Masterminding $1.3 Million Tax Fraud Scheme

A 37-year-old Nigerian national, Matthew Abiodun Akande, has been handed an eight-year prison sentence by a U.S. federal court for his involvement in a sophisticated cybercrime operation that defrauded the American government of over $1.3 million through fraudulent tax refunds. The scheme, which spanned five years, targeted tax preparation firms in Massachusetts, leading to the theft of sensitive personal data and the filing of more than 1,000 bogus tax returns.

Akande, who was residing in Mexico at the time of his activities, collaborated with at least four co-conspirators to hack into the computer networks of these firms. They stole personally identifiable information (PII) from unsuspecting taxpayers and used it to submit fraudulent claims, seeking refunds totaling over $8.1 million. The group successfully siphoned off more than $1.3 million before being caught.

The operation ran from around June 2016 to June 2021, involving tactics such as phishing, malware, and unauthorized access to protected computers. One named co-conspirator, Kehinde H. Oyetunji, a 33-year-old Nigerian living in North Dakota, was also implicated in the plot.

Akande was arrested in October 2024 at London's Heathrow Airport at the request of U.S. authorities and extradited to the United States on March 5, 2025. He appeared in federal court in Boston, where he pleaded guilty in April 2025 to 33 counts, including conspiracy to obtain unauthorized access to protected computers, wire fraud, theft of government money, and aggravated identity theft.

U.S. District Court Judge Indira Talwani sentenced Akande on Tuesday to eight years behind bars, followed by three years of supervised release. The case was investigated by the FBI Boston division in collaboration with IRS Criminal Investigation.

This conviction underscores the growing threat of international cyber fraud targeting U.S. financial systems, with Nigerian nationals often implicated in such schemes. Experts warn that these operations not only drain public funds but also erode trust in digital tax processes.

TravelAncient Tree Collapses In Enugu, Kills 18 Passengers by Emmalez(op): 4:21pm On Feb 18

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y2My9YUibSg?si=r2xW90sL75XLh1Qx

Tragedy struck on Tuesday when an accident claimed the lives of at least 18 passengers after a massive ancestral tree, known locally as “Ukwu Akpu Awhum,” toppled onto a commercial bus in the Awhum community of Udi Local Government Area, Enugu State.

ReportNaija gathered that the bus was fully loaded with passengers when the incident occurred during a heavy thunderstorm and rainfall.

The 18-seater minibus was traveling from Ukehe in Igbo-Etiti LGA to Enugu metropolis when the giant tree suddenly collapsed, crushing the vehicle and its occupants.

Residents rushed to the scene, but all passengers were reportedly killed on impact.

One community member, Charly Okeke, spoke of the shock that has gripped Awhum. He said that although branches had fallen from the ancient tree in the past, nothing of this scale had ever occurred before.

“Some people started tying red and white cloths around the trunk, seeking spiritual powers,” Okeke suggested, adding that such acts of desecration may have weakened the tree.

“I suspect this may have caused the tragedy,” he said.

The community has been thrown into mourning as families and neighbors grapple with the devastating loss.

Many residents are now urging greater caution around sacred and ancestral sites, particularly amid the torrential rains that have lashed parts of the state in recent days.

Officials from the state emergency agencies and local authorities are expected to visit the scene to assess safety conditions and provide support to the bereaved families.

As of the time of filing this report, Enugu State authorities have yet to issue any statement.
