Former president Jonathan has called on the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor E.A Adeboye, to call to order one of his pastors and Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, over the claims made by Osinbajo against his administration yesterday March 19th.



Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo yesterday alleged that the government of former President Goodluck Jonathan “essentially shared” N150 billion two weeks to the 2015 polls.



In a statement released on his Facebook page, former media aide to ex-president Goodluck Jonathan, Reno Omokri, said Osinbajo’s claims are false and baseless.



According to Reno, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo continues to make these discredited comments because he is a man promoted above his competency. Reno said it is sad that the Vice President has again surrendered his lips to satan to be used to spread slander and lies.

Again, my attention has been drawn to rehashed lies in the media by the Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, against the person of former President Jonathan.

Speaking at the 7th Presidential Quarterly Business Forum for private sector stakeholders at the State House conference centre, the Vice President said as follows;

“We saw from the presentation of the Minister of Finance that N14 billion was spent on agriculture in 2014, transportation got N15 billion, while infrastructure in three years got N153 billion, and yet in two weeks before the elections, N150 billion was shared.

“So if your total infrastructure spending is N153 billion and you can share N150 billion, that is completely incredible. That sort of thing doesn’t happen anywhere else in the world. So, when we are talking about the economy, we must simply understand that, that is the problem.””.

It is sad that the Vice President has again surrendered his lips to satan to be used to spread slander and lies.

Nigerians may recall that lying is the most consistent achievement of Professor Osinbajo’s almost three years as Vice President.

Only on October 20, 2017, Vice President Osinbajo was in Anambra state where he lied that the present administration had paid $2 billion for the second Niger Bridge.

I personally exposed that lie and forced the Presidency to issue a ‘clarification’. The money released was 2 billion Naira and it came from the Sovereign Wealth Fund set up by the Jonathan administration which the APC resisted and challenged in court.

Even after Jonathan left office, it is still monies that he left behind that the Buhari administration is using.

It will also be recalled that in February 2016, the Vice President again lied when he claimed that both the Jonathan and Yar’adua governments did not build a single road. This fact was easily disproved when even members of this administration, including Osinbajo’s boss, President Buhari, began commissioning projects, including roads built by the Jonathan administration.

Some of the roads either built or rebuilt by the Jonathan administration include the Benin-Ore portions of the Benin-Lagos road, the Vom-Manchok road, the Kano-Zaria Road bridge (named after late Emir Ado Bayero) and many more.

On this most recent allegation by Vice President Osinbajo, let me state categorically that former President Jonathan DID NOT share 150 billion two weeks to the 2015 election. If Professor Osinbajo has proof that former President Jonathan did so, then we challenge him to publish his proof. He is a professor of law and ought to know that he who alleges must prove.

Again, it is a lie from the pit of hell that the Jonathan administration spent only N14 billion on agriculture and N153 billion on infrastructure in three years as alleged by the fallacious Osinbajo.

The Jonathan administration budgeted and spent over $10 billion on infrastructure in the 5 years between May 6, 2010 and May 29, 2015.

The single most expensive and valuable project built in Nigeria in the last 20 years is the $1.8 billion Abuja-Kaduna 187 kilometres super-fast railway that enables Nigerians work in Abuja and live in Kaduna.

This project was built and completed by the Jonathan administration. Is the Vice President aware of this?

Also, former President Jonathan revived Railways in five of the six geo-political zones and restored direct rail services from Lagos to Kano, Port Harcourt to Maiduguri and Makurdi to Gombe.

When Rotimi Amaechi took over as minister of transport in 2015, he said (this is a direct quote)

“In fact, I think we have a problem; most people don’t believe that the railway transport is functioning in Nigeria. I didn’t even know, until I started this tour, I never knew that the railway was functioning, it was even from his (MD’s) speech that I learnt that there are some coaches or services that go to Kano or Port Harcourt or elsewhere.”

My question to the Vice President is who built these rail infrastructures that Amaechi was referring to?

Who built the only Federal University in President Buhari’s home state of Katsina including 13 other Federal Universities and 165 almajiri schools? It was ex President Jonathan.

In contrast, the Buhari administration, which in less than three years has borrowed more money than the PDP borrowed in 16 years cannot point to even one major project they have started and completed.

Both President Buhari and Vice President Osinbajo keep accusing the Jonathan administration of being corrupt and claim that they run an anti corruption government.

If this is true, how come Nigeria made her best ever improvement in Transparency International’s Corruption Perception Index under former President Jonathan in 2014 when we moved 8 places forward from 144 to 136 and why have we made our worst ever retrogression in the Corruption Perception Index under President Buhari, moving 12 places backward from 136 to 148 in 2018?

The truth is that Vice President Yemi Osinbajo continues to make these discredited comments because he is a man promoted above his competency.

He was never a deputy Governor or Governor or an ambassador or a minister. His highest portfolio before becoming Vice President was that of a commissioner in Lagos state.

No wonder he was referred to as ‘ordinary commissioner’ by a prominent member of the All Progressive Congress and leading figure in this current administration.

Finally, let me say that If President Buhari will not intervene and rein in his Vice President by call lying pastor Osinbajo to order, I respectfully call on Pastor Enoch Adeboye, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God to remember the biblical admonition in Revelations 21:8 that “all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone” and step in to call Pastor Osinbajo to order.

For the second time in 2-years, Eric Many, the record label that signed Nigerian popstar, Runtown has filed an injunction at a Federal High court against the singer for breach of contract.



The entertainment company served Runtown the court papers a few days back with Suit No: FHC/L/CS/267/2018 with a statement that partly reads, ‘Runtown has been deliberately breaching his contract with us (Eric Many) for a while and despite our many appeals to him he has refused to bulge. He went for a show in Las Vegas since January 13th, 2018 and has since decided to withdraw all obligations of his contract. He has steadily been recording an album without the consent and approval of his record label’.



According to the statement of claim filed at the Federal High Court, by Eric Many, “a Recording Agreement was made between the Plaintiff and the Defendant dated 22nd June 2016, the copyright and other intellectual property and cognate rights and legal positions and protections applicable to all works done by the Defendant during an initial period of two years covered by the Agreement, is vested in the Plaintiff. The Plaintiff will rely on a copy of the said Recording Agreement at trial. 7. Under the Agreement, parties recognize and acknowledge the sum of N114,456,670.00 (One Hundred and Fourteen Million, Four Hundredand Fifty Six Thousand,Six Hundred and Seventy Naira) as “Prior Investment”, representing the sum invested by the Plaintiff into the development of the Defendant’s musical works and records under the defunct ‘Artiste Agreement’, precursor to the ‘Recording Agreement”.



In a press statement issued this morning, the label also states that, “he’s recording with artists like Del B without the written approval of the label and without an Eric Many appointee at the point of recording as agreed in our contract. Runtown has also been appearing in venues and collecting appearance fees without the approval of the label and also performing in private shows without the label’s consent which contravenes clause 4.4.1 of his record deal which states that ‘the Defendant(Runtown) can only engage in recording, collaborating or performing with other artistes for third parties or other record companies upon proper notification in advance to the Plaintiff. Upon this notification, the Plaintiff would then enter into an agreement with the collaborating artiste or his record company to ensure that the Plaintiff and the Defendant receive proper credit, legal/copyright protection and compensation for the collaborative work”.

Breaking News: Federal High Court slams Runtown with an Interim injunction over breach of contract (Photos)

Though Runtown‘s record deal with Eric Many is due to expire at some point this year, the label says he still owes the company alot of money including, ‘Hundreds of millions in Naira from the Lamborghini Gallardo super-fast car which he still has to pay back to the label and and also an album that must be released through the right channels. He has been doing numerous collaborations with several artists without getting the written approval of the label and as a result, no royalties have come back to the label from any of these collaborations. He has been warned severally about this on numerous occasions but he refused to listen, so we as the label had to go to court to stop him from these dubious actions’.



The label also confirms sacking his current manager, Ifeanyi Nwunne saying, ‘Eric Many has also fired Ifeanyi Nwunne as Runtown‘s manager. He is more of a drug addict that smokes marijuana round the clock. A new manager will be appointed soonest’.



Eric Many in its statement of claim is seeking the sum of “N65 MILLION being General Damages against the Defendant (Runtown) in favour of the Plaintiff for infringement of the Plaintiff’s copyright to the collaborative musical works “Call Me” and “Weekend” both of which featured the Defendant as well as N5 MILLION as costs of this action”.



“Eric Many has chosen to hold back on anything pertaining to Runtown,till further investigations. This means that anyone who engages Runtown without a written approval from Eric Many, signed by the chairman, will be sued heavily.



This will be the second time in two years that Runtown has had to face off with his label. In May 2016, he was sued in the Federal High Court by Eric Many on allegations that he signs up, concludes and attends musical shows without the knowledge of the label. Back then, Eric Many also secured a court injunction stopping Runtown from performing as an artiste anywhere in the world. He later went back to the label to apologize and the case was settled out of court.

At about 7:32PM on Sunday the 18th of March, 2018, I should have died. I had just returned from Washington DC. I was too focused on composing a thank you email to my hostess and I missed my stop on the air train. I got out at Westfield Road station in front of the rental car center of San Francisco Int’l Airport and I was crossing the road to get to the other side so I could take the next train in the opposite direction.

I was at fault. The pedestrian crossing light was red, but I crossed anyway without looking. How the oncoming car did not hit me remains a mystery. It was meant to hit me. It missed me by milliseconds. I believed I was going to die. But the strangest thing was that my life did not flash in front of me in an instant as they say. What I recall was this sense of calm. Of acceptance of what was surely to come. I was not afraid. I believed there was no escaping death at that instance.

Have I lost my sense of fear? Because even immediately after the event, I still was unafraid. There was no fear or aftershock. There is still no fear or aftershock hours after the incidence. Right now I am still analyzing why I was not afraid.

Whether it was an angel that gave me wings to run or whether my sub conscious took over, I don’t know. What I know is that I give the God and Father of my Lord and Saviour Jesus thanks for being alive today.

I know my Redeemer lives! If I keep this to myself, I am robbing someone out there from knowing that God exists. He delivered me today and since He does not love me more than you, he will also deliver you from the premature death the enemy has orchestrated for you if you believe in Him and believe Him

Former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode, has reacted to a statement credited to former President, Olusegun Obasanjo, who reportedly said the country will collapse if President Muhammadu Buhari is reelected for second term in 2019.

Obasanjo was quoted as making this comment at Blavatnik School of Government, Oxford University on Friday.

Reacting via a tweet, the former minister said Nigeria needed to be freed from the shackles of Fulani.

He wrote, “Nigeria will collapse if Buhari wins 2019 election”– President Olusegun Obasanjo, Blavatnik School of Government, Oxford University, March 17, 2018.

“Baba has stated the obvious. I am glad that he has seen the light. May God bless him.

A woman identified as Zainab has given birth to a baby with 4 legs and 2 genital at Sabon Garin Makiyawa in Magama Jibia, Katsina State.

According to Dailytrust, 20-year-old Zainab delivered the baby on March 9, 2018. She has been married to her husband Hassan for four years and are already blessed with a three year old son, Fahad.Auto Draft



Describing the baby, Hassan said:

“The child has both sexes and four legs, the two abnormal legs and a penis are on the left side of the ribs, only one of the two additional legs is moving, the second doesn’t. I can say it’s a girl because the longer and normal legs have a female genital at their proper place.”

When asked if his wife attended ante-natal clinic during pregnancy, Hassan said she did:

“For now, I’m made to understand from some health officials that she may need surgery to correct the defects and was given a referral later to the Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital to meet a consultant paediatric surgeon,” he said.

Doctors’ findings and examination at the Turai Yaradu Clinic stated that “the second twin was attached to the first at the sacral region to the left, swelling at the lumbo sacral region of both twins, polydactyl of the fingers. The provisional diagnosis was said to be sarcophagus con joined twins.”

In a similar news reported some few weeks back, the woman who gave birth to the baby with four legs in Kaduna was however reportedly delighted over the birth of her baby despite the defects. The woman said it was the will of Allah:

“Both of them are female. Of course, one would have loved to deliver the babies without any deformity. But since Allah in His infinite mercy had decided to create the twins like this, what can I do? This is why you see me relaxed, and I love them both.” she aid

Herdsmen on Wednesday killed two soldiers in Miango, Plateau State.
The soldiers, who were part of the troops that responded to a distress call by villagers in Rafiki, were attacked by the herdsmen on arrival.
The troops, of the 3 Division Garrison, Jos, Plateau State, however, arrested seven of the suspects and recovered weapons in the clash between Miango community and herdsmen at Rafiki Village.
They were said to have responded to distress calls to the clash reported by locals.
As troops moved in to settle the dispute, the herdsmen opened fire on troops convoy.
While conducting search, troops discovered 23 dead bodies at Mararaba Dare shortly before Rafiki Village and many civilians were wounded.
Two other soldiers wounded are receiving medical attention at 3 Division Military Hospital and Medical Services.
They are said to be stable.
Weapons recovered included one AK 47 assault rifle with 26 rounds of 7.62mm special and one locally made single barrel loaded with 15 rounds.
Troops, according to available information, have intensified patrol within the general area to forestall further break down of law and other.

Nigerian philanthropist, Amb.Dion Osagie penned an open letter to his wife after he battered her.

On January 20th,2018, the Nigerian-born American-based entrepreneur beat his wife of two years, Winifred. According to reports, Amb Osagie beat up Winifred and locked her up against her will, in their house in Benin, Edo State, after allegedly hitting her on the head with a knife.

As we reported earlier, a 32-year-old banker and mother of two, identified as Mrs. Peace Uzezi Akpobaro, committed suicide over her husband’s alleged infidelity at their residence in Ughelli, Delta State.

Sources in the area said husband to the late Mrs Akpobaro had brought home his mistress to be staying with them under one roof, a situation that made the wife took her life.

According to various reports, A Nigerian student identified as Uju Pious Ejikeonye, from Imo State, has died after jumping from the 13th floor of his condominium in an alleged bid to escape Malaysian immigration arrest.

According to reports, the incident happened yesterday, at Sri Puri Condominium Kuala Lumpur. The deceased, a student of the City University, Kuala Lumpur, was said to have heard noise from the officers and decided to flee.

This is not the first time a Nigerian will die while escaping from Malaysian immigration or police officers, According to another news report in the Malaysian Star, an online news portal, A Nigerian student simply identified as Osazuwe who is from Edo State, was staying with friends when police stormed the place and in a bid to escape, he decided to jump from the window instead of being caught and probably sent to jail.

The incident happened when a student had lodged a police claiming his girlfriend had been kidnapped by Osazuwa and his gang. The boyfriend said he received a call from a suspect who demanded RM40,000 for the release of his girlfriend, also a Nigerian student here.

According to police, We suspected the kidnappers were people that the victim must have known.

Malaysia police said the victim’s boyfriend cooperated with the police in their investigations and he managed to coax the suspects into giving him more time and told them he was gathering the funds.

Mohd Adnan said when police ambushed the unit located at the condominium’s 13th floor, there were three Nigerian men and two local women.

The police managed to find the victim’s location on Monday. She was being held in a condominium unit in Taman Melati, Ampang.

We formed a team to raid the condominium unit and moved in on the suspects at about 5 pm.
Upon seeing the police, the suspects attempted to escape. The raiding team arrested two women and two men.

The gang thought they could get money quickly by carrying out this crime, but look what had happened — it has just gone awfully wrong
The suspect who died was in his 20s and we are still trying to establish his full identity.

The Lagos State Governor Akinwunmi Ambode has declared every Wednesday “Yoruba Day” and directed all schools in the state to teach all classes in Yoruba language on Wednesdays.

The directive was given to both private and public schools. And not just that, everyday, the Nigerian national anthem is to be sung in Yoruba Language, and Yoruba Language has been made a compulsory subject.

Yoruba is now a compulsory requirement to get into any tertiary institution in Lagos.

The Deputy Governor Idiat Adebule, passed these directives across to Public School principals and head teachers in a meeting:

“Gov. Ambode wants me to pass this message to you, that henceforth, Yoruba language be made compulsory in both private and public schools. The national anthem must be sung in Yoruba on a daily basis too.

The Egbe Akomolede has done the translation and we will send the copies of the Yoruba version to your schools by Monday so you can begin to teach the students.

I have also met with the owners of private schools and we have relayed this directive to them. We are also considering translating the textbooks of other subjects into Yoruba Language because I believe that when students are taught in their mother language, learning will be easy and their level of performance will improve.

The state government is passionate about this Law, so we do not lose our language, culture and heritage.”

Speaking at the ‘Governance Matters’ round table organised by Development Alternative Incorporation, DAI in Abuja, Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai accused the trade unions in Nigeria of always pursuing their narrow minded selfish interest, without thinking of the good of the country.

According to Governor Nasir El-Rufai who berated Nigerian doctors for going on strike despite taking an oath to always save lives, it is only in Nigeria that doctors go on strike.

The Governor who in his speech advocated for a cut down in the National minimum wage, accused trade unions of always dragging their state chapters into the unnecessary fights with the Federal government.

‘Trade Unions have never served the country well. They have been selfish and everything is about their narrow interests. In general, in Nigeria, trade unions have been a danger to our progress and I think they should be curtailed. The mistake we made as a country was placing trade unions in the Exclusive Legislative List. If the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, has an issue with the Federal Government, then the state universities will go on strike too. In Kaduna, I warned the Kaduna State University, that if ‘you ever go on strike again because of somebody else, I will fire all of you. I think we need to do some things. First, take labour matters out of the Exclusive List because many of us are victims of agreements reached with ASUU by the Federal Government. The states were never part of such agreements.

Secondly, is the issue of minimum wage. Except we set a very low minimum wage, there will continue to be issues especially with states that do not have wide tax net. You cannot set the same minimum wage for Lagos and Jigawa. Also, we must apply the labour laws strictly. No work, no pay, because there has to be a trade dispute before anything strike’ he said.

Popular Ghanaian singer, Shatta Wale has been arrested by the Police in Ghana over an alleged assault on a policeman on duty.
The controversial artiste was seen in a viral video having a heated verbal brawl with a police officer, who had apparently stopped an unregistered Range Rover SUV. The video was circulated across social media over the weekend.

The Range Rover with no number plate belonged to Shatta Wale but was being driven by another person. Upon arriving at the scene after being called, Shatta Wale verbally assaulted the police officer in charge and drove off in another unregistered car.
This necessitated his arrest, DSP Buckman confirmed to Andy Dosty on Daybreak Hitz on Hitz FM.
She said

“Shatta Wale was picked up by the police on Sunday and granted enquiry bail. It wasn’t just unregistered, it had no number plate at all, which goes against our laws.

In an attempt for the policeman to ask questions…Shatta Wale assaulted the police officer and also exhibited insulting behaviour. Because of that, he was arrested on Sunday and he’s been granted police enquiry bail to reappear at the police station this morning.”

According to her, assault does not only consist of a physical battery but insults as well, especially to an officer of the law carrying out his official duties.

“If you look at Act 29 [of the Criminal Code 1960], a person does an act of assault where the intent is to lead to harm or cause any other event that will lead to harm,” she said.
“It is an offence for anyone to drive a vehicle with no number plate at all.
“Every vehicle owner must either possess the normal registration plate or an interim one (DV or DP), she said stressing “nobody can drive a vehicle in this country without any form of registration, no way!?”

As the search for the kidnapped Dapchi schoolgirls continues, a human rights activist, Aisha Wakil, has claimed that she was contacted by a Boko Haram faction that confirmed that it had the missing girls.

Wakil, who is popularly called Mama Boko Haram, was a member of the Presidential Committee on Dialogue and Peaceful Resolution of Security Challenges in the North, which was set up during the administration of former President Goodluck Jonathan.

Wakil made the claim in a video interview with the News Agency of Nigeria that has gone viral on the social media, saying the terrorist group had made contact with her on Thursday. She is believed to have communication links with the leadership of the sect and also believed to have played some roles in negotiations between the Federal Government and Boko Haram insurgents that resulted in the release of persons kidnapped by the group in the past.

Earlier in the week, Wakil had pleaded with the abductors of the schoolgirls to release them so that they could reunite with their families.

But in the fresh video, Wakil said, “They are even the ones that called me and said Mama, we heard what you have said and told me that they are with the girls and they are going to release them.

“I begged of them and said please let this not be another 1,000-plus days of Chibok girls, and they laughed and said no. I asked them where I can come and stay with them (girls) for two days, but they did not say anything.

“I can assure Nigerians that so far they are with my son, Habib, and his friends; Habib is a nice guy, he is a very nice boy. He will not harm them, he will not touch them, and he will not kill them. He is going to listen to us, and so far, he indicated interest that he loves peace. And I love them for that and believe what they said on this.

“They will definitely give us the girls. All I am begging Nigerians is to calm down, be prayerful, everything will be over in God grace (sic).”

The Federal Government had on Tuesday released the names and other details of the 110 girls who had yet to be accounted for, following the recent attack on the Government Girls Science and Technical College, Dapchi, Yobe State, on February 19. The missing girls are believed to have been kidnapped by the group.

In April 2014, 276 girls were similarly abducted in a school in Chibok, Borno State.

Meanwhile, the ongoing search for the missing girls has been extended to the neighbouring countries, the Federal Government has said.

In a statement issued in Abuja on Friday, the Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, said top military and security officials on Thursday travelled to the North-East to add more urgency to the search, which has now been extended beyond the North-East.

The officials include the nation’s top military officer and Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Abayomi Olonisakin; Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ekwe Ibas; Chief of Army Staff; Lt.-Gen. Tukur Buratai, and the Director-General of the Department of State Services, Alhaji Lawal Daura.

Mohammed said these officials joined the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar, who had earlier relocated to the North-East, as well as the National Security Adviser, Maj.-Gen. Babagana Monguno (retd.), who had also visited the theatre.

The panel set up by the Federal Government to unravel the circumstances surrounding the abduction of the girls was inaugurated on Thursday by the NSA.

The Defence Headquarters, Abuja, said on Friday that the military henceforth would not disclose its strategies on the missing Dapchi schoolgirls to the media as such information got to the Boko Haram insurgents and gave them room to re-strategise.

The Acting Director of Defence Information, Brig. Gen. John Agim, who disclosed this in a statement on Friday, said the Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Abayomi Olonisakin, and Service Chiefs as well as the Director-General, Department of State Services, met in Maiduguri, Borno State, and reviewed the ongoing operation to rescue the Dapchi schoolgirls.

Agim said one of the recommendations after the meeting was that the military, henceforth, would discuss only its successes in the rescue operation, rather than its strategies.

The DDI said, “During the meeting, the pattern of information management in all the military operations was reviewed. It was sadly observed that the military operation strategies have always been in the media, thereby giving the terrorists an opportunity to re-strategise. It was recommended that, henceforth, the military will be communicating the successes rather than strategies.

“It is also very important to be mindful of speculations that could jeopardise the ongoing efforts as well as put the lives of the schoolgirls at risk. For instance, the speculation that fishermen and farmers have been employed by the military to search for the abducted girls is misleading. Even though the military is soliciting useful information to facilitate its operations, the fishermen and farmers have not been singled out for this assistance.”

Muslim clerics from across the country have, however, called for special prayers for the missing girls.

For instance, the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar lll -led Jama’atu Nasril Islam has directed all Muslim preachers (Imams) to offer special prayers for the quick and safe rescue of the schoolgirls.

The Secretary-General of the JNI, Khalid Aliyu, told one of our correspondents in Kaduna that the body had directed all Imams to offer special prayers for the rescue of the girls.

Aliyu said the special prayers were necessary to seek divine intervention so that the case of the Dapchi girls does not end up like that of the Chibok schoolgirls.

He said, “Fervent observance of Adhkar (remembrance of Allah) should also be ventured into by all Muslims, as it is a vital tool for easing fears, tension and uncertainties such as the myriad security challenges bedevilling Nigeria.

“Similarly, supplications in Sujood (prostrating position) in all circumstances are also paramount.

“We implore all Muslims particularly Imams to continue Qunootun Nawazil (special prayers at calamitous periods in the last Rak’at of each obligatory prayer and non-obligatory prayers) seeking Allah’s intervention.”

Similarly, Muslims in Yobe, Nasarawa, Adamawa and Taraba states on Friday offered prayers for the quick rescue of the abducted schoolgirls.

In Yobe State, the Special Adviser to Governor Ibrahim Gaidam on Religious Affairs, Ustaz Babagana Mallakyari, told Saturday PUNCHthat they were dedicating the day’s prayers to the quick recovery of the girls.

Mallakyari, who is also the Chief Imam of Mokas Mosque, Damaturu, said, “There is nothing more than prayers for now as far as this issue is concerned and that is why since last week, we have dedicated special prayers for the release of the girls.

“The federal and state governments are doing their best in terms of deployment of security for the search of the girls, but they need our prayers. I want to call on all to join in praying for the release of the girls.”

Also, the Fika Emirate Council in Yobe State on Friday directed all Imams, worshippers and mosques to commence rigorous prayers for the safe return of the girls.

In a statement issued in Potiskum and signed by the Assistant Secretary, Fika Emirate Council, Potiskum, Alhaji Ali Gimba Gonki, the Emirate said the prayers would commence immediately after Juma’at prayers at Fika Emirate Central Mosque in Potiskum.

The statement “urged all Muslims in the state to pray for the safe return of the girls.”

In Taraba State, the Muslim Council had directed all Muslims in the state to pray for a safe and timely rescue of the schoolgirls.

The Secretary-General of the council, Alhaji Chindo Mohammed, disclosed this on Friday in a telephone interview with one of our correspondents.

“What we normally do in situations like this is to direct adherents of Islam in the state to pray.

“This is not the first time we are doing this, we have been doing that and in the case of Dapchi, we have also directed our members to pray.

“I want to confirm to you that prayers for the quick rescue of the abducted Dapchi schoolgirls have been going on in the state in the past days,” he said.

The Chief Imam, Issa Elele Central Mosque, Ilorin, Kwara State, Abubakar Aliyu-Kamal, also said that prayers were held during Friday’s Jumat for the release of the pupils.

He said, “Why should we not protect our youths today? If we do not protect our youths, we are creating a problem for the future of Nigeria.

“The Nigerian government should deploy more security operatives in that place so as to enhance the security of lives and property as well as achieve peace. Without peace, the nation cannot grow.

“We will pray for Allah’s intervention so that the abducted girls would be released and that they would return safely and peacefully. We will also pray for Yobe State so that peace and harmony will return in the place. We will also pray for Nigeria.”

The Deputy Chief Imam, Bekaji Central Mosque, Mohammed Lawal, also said prayers would be offered by Muslims in Adamawa State for the release of the girls, adding that religious leaders were duty bound to “pray for the success of everyone and peace in the society.”

“We are praying for the rescue of the Dapchi schoolgirls, the President, governors, and the remaining abducted Chibok girls,” he said.

In the same vein, the Modibbo Haruna Buhari Charity Organisation in Nasarawa State called for fervent special prayers by Nigerians for God’s intervention to end security challenges in the country.

Chairman, Board of Trustees of the organisation, Mr. Modibo Suleiman-Masaka, said, “My appeal is to the religious leaders and other Nigerians to offer special prayers for God’s intervention for an end to kidnapping, terrorism, frequent farmers/herdsmen clashes, among other security challenges in the country.”

The Chief Imam of North Bank in Makurdi, Benue State, Idris Musa, said, “Today, we pray for the release of the schoolgirls in Yobe and also the Chibok girls yet to be released.”

Also speaking, the Executive Chairman, Benue State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, Sheik Ibrahim, said “We believe God and with prayers, everything is possible,” he said.

However, the Christian Association of Nigeria has described the abduction of the schoolgirls as disgraceful, saying it “has exposed the dark sides of the government of President Muhammadu Buhari.”

It, therefore, urged the Federal Government to solicit for international support in the fight against terrorism.

The organisation also called on the Federal Government to “interrogate the entire security apparatus in Nigeria with intent to detect moles and possible collaborators among the officers.”

The Christian body, in a statement issued by Adebayo Oladeji, Special Assistant (Media and Communication) to its President, Dr. Samson Ayokunle, said the Dapchi incident had put Nigerians in a state of mourning about the unsecured future of schoolchildren, most especially the females, given the failure of the government to ensure the rescue of all the Chibok girls.

CAN said, “Our hearts go out to the parents of the abducted innocent schoolgirls as we pray for their safe return and reunion with their families. We call on all security agencies to intensify efforts in securing the release of the abducted girls in the national interest. For us, enough is enough as we demand an immediate end to the kidnapping of innocent girls and mindless killings being recorded across the country.”

The Nigerian Army has disbursed N19 million to 95 widows of fallen heroes residing in Abakpa and Awkunanaw Barracks in Enugu State.

Maj.- Gen. Adamu Abubakar, the General Officer Commanding (GOC), 82 Division of the Nigerian Army said this in a statement issued by Col. Sagir Musa, Deputy Director of Army Public Relations of the Division on Saturday in Enugu.

Musa, who explained that each of the widows received N200, 000, said that the money was presented to the widows at the division’s auditorium in Enugu on Friday.

He said that Abubakar, on behalf of the Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Tukur Buratai, urged the beneficiaries to make use of the money judiciously.

Musa also said that the GOC thanked Gov. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi for his continued support to the widows and the Division.

NAN recalls that Ugwuanyi had during the 2018 Armed Forces Remembrance Day Celebration pledged to empower the widows of fallen heroes of the Division.

The governor on Feb. 17, during the 2018 West African Social Activities held in Abakpa Cantonment, Enugu, redeemed the pledge with a cheque of N19.6 million, which he presented to the GOC.

Musa also said that the Garrison Commander of the Division, Brig.-Gen. Lasisi Adegboye, and representatives from the Nigeria Army Officers Wives Association (NAOWA), 82 Division Chapter attended the occasion.

Nigerian troops suffered a massive setback in the war against terrorism as Boko Haram terrorists sprung a surprise attack on Rann killing at least a dozen people and injuring several others.

A security source told Saharareporters that the terror group stormed military base of the 3rd Battalion in Rann headquarters of Kala-Balge on Thursday at about 6 pm and engaged in a gun duel that lasted for 5 hours. The terror group also abducted three aid workers (2 from ICRC clinic team and 1 from UNICEF) in addition to killing a UNICEF doctor, and two workers from the International Organization for Migration

On the military side, the terror group abducted at least three soldiers, killed three Mobile Policemen attached to an internally displaced person camp and made away with a military truck and an Armored personnel carrier belonging to the Nigerian army.

Rann is a small town in Borno State, Northeastern Nigeria, and a home to a camp for internally displaced people. In January 2017, a Nigerian military jet mistakenly bombed a refugee camp, killing more than 100 people.

Many civilians including personnel of International Committee of the Red Cross and Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) were wounded in the attack.
