One thing I like about the USA is that, as it is a very big country by landmass so is its Cities fully developed and we'll structure.

They have big cities and renowned and famously known cities in the country and all over the world. There is always something special about almost every city there.

What a great country that can almost come first in everything in the World.

God Bless America
God Bless Nigeria
God Bless Edo State.

See as everywhere clean. No sand, no dust, no potopoto. Environment bright.
That's why the US is great. It is the happening nation, each city, each eccentricity. But guess what? It was a work done by both the government and the ever golden Hollywood. The government did well by building the nation and scattering landmarks around the nation, Hollywood did well by showing the beauty and glamour. To be candid, almost all the big cities in the world has their own eccentricities. Like for example, Nigerian cities are all peculiar but, as Nollywood is gaining grounds, we could only show Lagos and Abuja because those are the cities we can claim we're so proud of...and that's why they're the only Nigerian cities that other Africans believe to be happening areas even though all cities across the nation are great and bubbling. Genevieve Nnaji tried to change this in Lionheart by using other cities. This is why the US is above other nations, they planned well.
Once again,God bless America,God bless Nigeria,God bless you,and God bless the OP

. I totally agree with you. Alot of things are abberant in our educational system. Fir example ASU is requesting more fund in the universities from the government. How did they spend the previous funds from the government? They also requested salary increase. The government agreed some adjustments which will go across all institutions including polytechnics but they should wait till that is captured in 2023 budget. ASU disagreed. They said UTAS must be used for their payment. Is that logical? You are dictating for your employer. Consequent on that they embarked on strike indefinitely. They said before they resume all their outstanding salaries must be paid .Is that the way to go about it! Even when thery are in session what have they achieved for Nigeria! Some even collect money for researches only to do a wishy washy research and spend the money on cars and housing. Is it not good
to resume work and continue negotiation on yiur outstanding salaries which government will pay you? They think they are the wisest in Nigeria.I pity our students at home but as for ASU whoever wants to resign shiukd do so. No union is sacred in Nigeria!
Well, I do agree with you too. At some points, both parties have their faults

How many Nigerian Profs in medical field have been able to produced a COVID vaccine for the world? We claim yet that our universities have good hands.
How many of them have the resources to run research? How many of them is high-moraled to do that? Oh...why are Nigerians in Europe and America doing well in that same medical Fields but the ones at home aren't? Can a lecturer that hasn't been paid for months decide to go around looking for Covid-19 vaccine? The ones doing it are the ones that their governments spend billions to help them in researches!

My dear friend, in sincerity you didn't get my point. Like I said earlier, it should not be surprising. Spirituality doesn't bend to logic.
One last word, it's not only what exists that you must prove. You need to prove what doesn't exist. That's what defence counsel do for wrongly accused persons. It's in knowing what is NOT, that we know what IS.
I leave you with Peace....

I am a computer engineer myself. However, I love the mathematical side of things more. Becsuse in comp science you deal with maths and software. In comp eng you deal with maths, software and hardware. I can see you like hardware more than software. You would need to be good in cplusplus and fpga design thats were the money is. In comp science, you have software dev and all its aspects, thats were the money is. Maths gives you the thereoretical foundation. So i would say go ahead and do the comp engin, with time you would know which area you would be comfortable in
Thanks so much,I so much appreciate your response. smiley
Religion / Re: Between Clergyman Mike Bamiloye And A Facebook User Asking About Heaven by EmmanuelBlaze04: 2:59pm On Aug 29, 2022

Can you provide evidence that there is NO heaven?
What am I even saying?
Can you even provide evidence you have a heart or brain? I mean YOU. Don't tell me about x-rays or MRI. Have you ever made visual contact with your own brain or heart? Don't tell me about dissection of cadavers. YOU are not the cadaver. Can you give me irrefutable proof you have a brain? Can you hold your brain in your hands to silence me?
But, I believe that you being healthy and normal, have not only heart and brain but also every other organ found in humans.
I believe. And you know what, YOU can only believe the same. You can't do any more than just believe. You know without any doubts you have these organs because you believe no human can survive without them. The realest things you have is from belief.
If you know you have a brain because you believe you have one, why do you find it impossible that I know there is heaven because I believe it?

Albeit I haven't settled with any of these points, your first sentence(question) creeps me? Why?
You're the one convincing someone that a place exists, you're the one to show the proof it exists. His proof? His proof is that he hasn't seen it. It's just like someone telling you that a bridge made of gold is in Lagos, and as a young boy of ten years old,you countered that you do not believe it, only for the person to tell you the prove that you don't believe, whereas he is the one to show you the proof that it does exist. Or, someone told you that a car that melts like water is in London and you asked for proof only for him to ask for your own proof. Who needs to prove? Is he not the one that needs to convince you that there's a such car?
Secondly, you talked about brain. There have been accidents that the victims' brains burst out, there have been brain surgery. You can actually see a brain of someone that just got into a fatal accident. Pictures of people that were shot in the head are everywhere to confirm a brain does exist.
I am just stating the facts here, you can try to educate me if you think I am on the wrong path.

Software technologies is not necessarily Engineering. Programming computers is more in the line of an Interpreter, only that the interpretation uses mathematics and Logic. Infact programming is akin yo speaking the language of the computer. So its a technologist's job, akin to a blue colar worker. However, it is in high demand due to booming Information technology. You do not need an Engineers certificate to get into Tech jobs as they are rightly called. You just need practice and certifications.
Thanks so much. I think I'll just find my way to learn the programming and software if my school is not teaching it well.

I think Engineering is a problem solving degree. We have need for Engineers and their services in Nigeria. However, the system is in a big mess. There is so much corruption. For example the 18 billion that was used to clear bush would have engaged at least 100k engineers for 6 months. Do you know how much government would have generated from the value chain? So thats the problem. Now as an engineer there are skills you have to build in order to break even. You need the theoretical know how which the University teaches. You need technical which you learn from internship, on the street, on your own and so on. You need marketing skills to sell yourself. You need political skills to engage government to take notice of your craft. However, most graduates stop at the first part thats why they end up as teachers. Those who reach the last part are the ones who are balling.
Finally, the engineering family in Nigeria is only on paper. If I am an Engineer and I get a billion naira contract, I am supposed to look for my fellow Engineers to do the job likewise you getting a contract and bringing me onboard. But what we see is sabotage. They prefer to bring foreigners and unqualified people.
The political class and the elite dont value our engineers, a good example is the Dangote refinery were indians ran the show. Imagine indians running the show in your country.
My advise Op is to go for Engineering but try and get IT skills especially programming.
With a programming skill you dont need a political and you need some marketing skill in order to monetize your craft.
Hello sir. I love your reply. I just want to ask a question and I would appreciate it if you answer. I wanted to study computer science but by fate, what was available for me was Computer Engineering, and I have always wanted to be a programmer who knows about software and also deals with hardware like making phones and creating the ROM and RAM myself, and also want to learn a bit about developing AI , please do you encourage I take up the computer engineering or wait till I can get computer science? I had made my researches and I could decipher the fact that computer engineering deals with both software and hardware (some universities call it computer science and engineering) but aggregating it finally to the Nigerian system is what baffles me...please any tangible suggestion would be welcomed. Thanks in advance

Though a luxury to the sub-continent, to whatever extent, if a functional government yet can relate, such might help strengthen our currency especially if the demand for Naira increases in West - Africa.

The demand for Naira would increase the value of Naira. That’s why we have to do better with our exports. There has to be support for businesses here, and the government should help get the products out.

In Aba, we can re-brand locally made shoes and make them popular across West-Africa and beyond. We can even invest in other Africa country resources - and take control of the export to the west.

Till date, we are a looted lots and you find our best minds employed by our looters and even where there is a government that is a little bright, our SANs fight each other to defend the looters and throw away Nigeria’s interest for peanuts. And a misguided government yet honors the SAN with a national honor. The celebrated Chief Olanipekun OFR, for instance has helped MTN win a tax dispute against Nigeria; represented Shell Petroleum & Equinox (Formerly Statoil) while the two oil companies have but looted the country & yet he has a national honor in recognition of his reputation for helping them fleece us. The direction of the country is a lost cause; if our best minds will fight each-other in a bid to defend a foreign interest trying to fleece our commonwealth.

To return to the main point, we should take back our country. No reason to give Niger over a billion to purchase vehicles- when we’ could support Innoson to build same and then export.

And in many sectors; I don’t see why ICAN can’t become the ACCA of Africa for instance; and make the certification the foremost desirable for accountants across Africa. That should be their aspiration. With the right leadership, such and such can be explored and taken advantage of. This seem to be the hope of ASUU for our tertiary education.
You shall be blessed. For our economy to grow, we need to focus on our target market, and thank God Africa is still an untapped land. If Nigeria could spend more on technology, build great technical devices, we initially wouldn't need validity from other continents until we conquer ours. And trust me, Nigeria has a bigger influence than any other African country, thanks to our media. If we could colonize West African nations first by selling and promoting our local products both made in Aba and Lagos, and we extend it through our influence, we then start to move eastwards, northwards and southwards. China had to colonize Asia before getting validity from the westerners, if a man can't control his house, other people won't respect him.

Well,it still seems funny to me when I see people who really think that the Russian-Ukraine war is really a war, like, we all know how much effective a real war could be and not a mere tussle while citizens of both countries are still flexing on social medias. If it was a big war, NATO would have stood up, cities would have been in ruins and economies, crippled.
Now, to Britain's brouhaha, lol,we all know that Britain's lost her military glory and not as strong as before. Don't get me wrong, I am not saying Russia will bully Britain or nuke Britain(even the Nazis and Red Armynever knew that Poland could resist them that long as Nigeria never knew that the Biafran army could hold up so much)but if it was the US or Germany that did this, Russia would be jerked a bit. Winston Churchill claimed that at Yalta in February 1945 that Britain is already exhausted by her war efforts and we all know how they run things, they declare war and hide till the war really hits them. They did during WWII and we all know that it was the British Channels that saved them and how London was bombed for 53 days consecutively ( Black Saturday inclusive).

This, you just said, is bad. That the country is sinking doesn't mean the people should be in depression. If not for entertainment, I bet a lot of Nigerians that are meant to vote for leaders would be dead.
And again, cursing them again isn't good. What's good for goose sometimes isn't good for gander. That you like football shouldn't hand over to you the audacity to criticize bbnaija watchers. You might find your own joy while watching movies, that doesn't give you the mouth to criticize tv show watchers. That rice is your favourite doesn't means another person's love for beans is baseless. That you don't love bbnaija shouldn't make you criticize watchers, they know what they love about it and jsyk, what you like irritates another person.
That Nigeria is sinking doesn't stop you from watching football, movies and it shouldn't stop you from watching tv shows too.

That's the difference between insecurity in America and in Nigeria, so for those evil people who love to compare both sides, please tell me if they have caught the killers of southern kaduna, benue, ondo and so on, till date has justice been delivered?

Has anyone noticed that mass shooters in America are mainly whites, but the media over there has made people believe that it is more dangerous to be around a black guy than a white guy, yes blacks have their issues over there, but the media makes it worse and makes the white guys issue look less of an issue when infact it's also on the high side...
The difference there?
The difference there is that in Nigeria, though anything can happen, it can't be done by anybody.
The difference there is that in Nigeria, it's been done by terrorists but in the US, it's could be done by any body you come across.
The difference is that there are some small towns here in Osun state that they don't even know maybe there has been a case of terrorists attack in Nigeria but in the US, your neighbor can do it.
The difference is that bandits and boko haram are criminals which of course can happen in any country (like Osama did in the US) but these happens only in the US because of the sick gun law.
Don't get me wrong, I am part of Nigerians who would love and infact have been planning to go for studies in the US and I love the nation wholeheartedly (except for their dirty political games) but still, if boko haram and bandits are being replaced by each Nigerian having a gun, don't you think it would have been much more bloody? The same average Nigerian that doesn't tell his neighbor that he's relocating abroad because of what they might do to them, now imagine almost all our population having guns....infact, Nigeria would cease to be in existence.
To people that believe that every citizen should have for protection against gangsters, gangsters wouldn't invade a school and shoot juveniles like a sociopath did in the US weeks ago....of course they rob and might kill but you would know that some places are where they're concentrated but when everyone holds a gun, you don't know what your neighbor might do...might be intoxicated and kill you.
This,of course this is what I think, you can counter. We learn everyday.
Tschüss!

Okay, I mentioned something about ideology. If Australia or Canada becomes powerful militarily or economically today, the US would never challenge them, or see them as a threat in any way. Why? because she knows her interest in core pivotal issues would be protected due to having similar ideologies. Fidel Castro was an authoritarian, under a communist structure. Same ideology as the Soviets, hence the eyes of US were on him.
The US is one of the few countries today that carry futuristic views about any decision they take or occurrence going on around the globe.
Live and let live doesn't apply here. Its about staying preemptive on curbing systems that may yyundermine democratic practices.

Well, to say, this is the truth though, and, identical ideologies, of course, leads to bribdingnag alliances, guess that explains why Castro easily allied with krushkchev....but partially claimed he did because of “ what the US has done to them the past 60 years”.

I won't enquivocate though, you said the truth.

But somehow I believe the US is trying to cut Russia's power after the division of Soviet Union and the abrupt end of Cold War

Enlightened? funny.
No country is a saint. Not even the Scandinavians. Listen..,
Sometime ago, somewhere in Lagos, I was a kid, playing around with peers. Then we had this calm 'Aboki' who traded sweets, snacks , in their usual way. He was so free with us such that we could play around him, irrespective of the age difference. I found myself asking him some questions one evening. I called him abokina and he snapped back. He said he wasn't abokina cos he's not a Nigerian, but a Nigerien from Niger Republic. I asked him why he prefers trading in Nigeria and he said Niger was poor with few opportunities, that only the 'Gadaffi boys' enjoy because they had money. I got more inquisitive and asked him who the 'Gadaffi boys' were and why he wasn't one of them. He said he used to be one of them but gave it up because of his conscience. He explained how they were routinely sent weapons in trucks, stuffed in bags containing market wares and huge sums of dollars as compensation. Their jobs were to move into in the Nothern part of Nigeria, (since they already had strong religious affiliations and inter-married themselves,) move into churches or homes in the of the opposite faith and massacre them. He said he had witness his fellows kill children and mothers, and couldn't bear it anymore so he had to seek for greener pastures outside the country. I asked him about the Gadaffi he was referring to and he asked me how many I've heard of. Then Moamar Gadaffi of Libya was still alive. He made it clear he was referring to the Libyan president at the time. My view about Gadaffi immediately changed. Each time I saw his picture on the papers, I saw a demon.
Later on in the future, I see so many people saying Gadaffi was a sound leader that got killed by the West. I hear things like Libya was doing fine until the wicked West took out a prosperous Gadaffi. No one ever saw him to be a Jihadist.
Bottom line is, the West spy on the world with great precision and accuracy. They may not come up plain to give clear proofs about certain issues, but intelligence gathered decides what next step they take on issues. That's why up till date, the US body language can't be understood. They're always sending mixed signals, because they work with other facts and information that the majority misrepresents, misunderstands, overlook or undermine.
Every country have her evils. The US , Russia or China. Run a check, most Nigerians who prefer a Chinese or Russian Super power, likely supported PMB before now...
You can't paint America darker than she is. The healthy minds know this, that the US is the best evil to have among the three.
One more thing, the contention between the
West and Russia or China is more of sustaining and expanding ideologies. Forget all the NATO bla bla. The world learnt from Adolf Hitler, that with an authoritarian state as a super power, the world will return to the barbaric age of land grabbings and other primitive aggressions. Free Journalism would be threatened. Liberalism would be silenced. Any form of Authoritarian government is a threat to the free world as she keeps expanding militarily or economically. Curbing this is what America stands for. They'll apply every measure they can, even if it means playing out of the rules.
If you hate them for that, well its your choice, not a fact.

Wow, I like this. But inasmuch as no country is a saint, concerning this issue, we should know the US is going somewhere somehow.
Let's discuss what this same US did to Cuba, they planned to kill the president with bombing seashells, or a poisoned swimsuit which they would give as a gift. Pretty great, right?
Eisenhower, Kennedy, Dulles and others did pretty much bad, but, well, as you said, no country is a saint, but why are the US trying to establish bases in former Soviet nations.

I am not very much in support of any nation because I am not really interested by any way, but the US are on the edge of fiascoing the world if they continue their cunning ways

You don't like russians because they oppress sovereign nations? I challenge you to go and start reading the history of USA. I almost guarantee you that you will start liking the russians, as do I. Because like you, I used to be brainwashed into thinking the russians are the bad guys.

The USA did much, much worse than Russia is currently doing. The western media's tries to cover all of it and I'll tell you they actually succeeded. But then, if you go deep, you will definitely see books or even articles that explain their brutal history.

Anyway, since you claim russia doesn't respect other countries sovereignty. Let me give you a few examples of when USA attempted and did far worse of what Russia is currently doing with Ukraine. USA even killed their own citizens to make it seem like it is other "sovereign" countries that did it, to justify invasion.

in 1898, for instance, the US exploded USS Maine in Havana killing 266 American mariners to blame and declaring war on Spain.

Please I advice you to Google operation north woods. Operation Northwoods was a proposed false flag operation against American citizens that originated within
the US Department of Defense of the United States government in 1962.
The proposals called for the CIA operatives to both stage and actually commit acts of terrorism against American military and civilian targets , blaming them on the Cuban government, and using it to justify a war against Cuba. Ukraine...sound familiar??

Now you see that Cuba that I mentioned? That country Don see hell fire for USA hand. I'm willing to write about the suffering that was meted upon them by USA, but I'll leave that for another day. Let me talk about NATO, USA, RUSSIA & UKRAINE.

So many of you nairalanders actually think Russia is the aggressor and the cause of the current tension. Well that is false! NATO and the USA are both the problem. Here do you know why? Well, the West been led by the USA had been expanding its DS Military infrastructure footprint throughout Europe; deploying NATO nuclear missiles, U.S. missile defense systems and special forces along Russia’s doorstep.
Putin hasn’t been toppling governments in Eastern Europe, installing proxies, or deploying Russian missiles and Soviet defense systems. As you nairalanders make it seem. It’s been the West, moving East. Since the end of the Cold War, the West has been systematically cutting Russia off from the rest of the world, using NATO.

What’s happening in Ukraine today is the same thing that happened in 1962 during the Cuban Missile Crisis. please go and read about the Cuban missile crisis if you can. America put nuclear missiles in Italy and Turkey. The Soviet Union ‘RESPONDED’ by putting missiles in the Caribbean (via submarines) and Cuba.
America learned about the Soviet missiles in the Caribbean and Cuba and freaked out bc of the extremely close proximity of the Soviets’ military infrastructure. With Soviet missiles that close, America would not have sufficient time to analyze, evaluate and respond to a potential threat. America went nuts, demanded the Soviets immediately remove the missiles.
The Soviets had made the same complaints and demands about America’s nuclear missiles in Italy and Turkey. The United States said those missiles were defensive. After the Soviets responded in kind putting the same in the Caribbean and Cuba, America said the missiles were an aggressive threat.
The Cuban Missile Crisis had begun. The Soviets were not the aggressors, they were the respondent.
The United States wasn’t having it and began plans to invade Cuba, put 100,000 plus troops on Florida beaches, set up an illegal Naval blockade in the Caribbean blocking all ships from reaching Cuba and the United States, flew Spy Planes over Cuba (which got shot down, killing Air Force Pilot Rudolph Anderson). The U.S. also attacked Soviet submarines which were lawfully patrolling in international water and hadn’t fired on anyone.
Pretty hypocritical, right?
The Soviets were simply responding in kind, and refused to back down. In the end, in order to avoid nuclear war, America agreed to remove its nuclear missiles from Italy and Turkey, and thereafter the Soviets agreed to remove its missiles from Cuba, restoring the status quo and balance of power to the position the parties were in before America dramatically expanded its military footprint.
Today, we see the EXACT SAME scenario happening. The West has been building up its NATO footprint, putting NATO weapons, nuclear missiles, missile defense systems and special forces in former Soviet states.
Ukraine, Georgia, Kazakhstan we’re a step too far for Putin inasmuch as this is literally on the doorstep of Russia.
Putin has amassed his extraordinary military machinery and has told the world that NATO missiles are NOT going into Ukraine. Putin has also demanded the West remove its missiles from the former Soviet states surrounding Russia.
Sound familiar!
Putin will win this battle, NATO and the rest of the world will agree to restore the status quo and remove NATO missiles. If the Biden / NATO missiles currently on their way actually enter Ukraine, you will see Putin respond with the use of his vast military.

Thanks sir for taking us back to history. The same US that planned the bay of pigs invasion, then after being caught, still proposed the operation Northwood. The same US that went as far as planning to monopolize gaming, drugs and prostitution to cosa nostra hadn't been they had Fidel Castro killed.

To people supporting the US, the case is like this. Let me State a perfect quintessential to this story. Let's say South Africa and Nigeria had been fighting for African Giant since 1945, and then there is a huge hostility provided that we're both big African nations. Then Nigeria got divided into present day Nigeria, Cameroon and Benin. Seeing that, then south Africa should try to place missiles in Cameroon and Benin republic because they're no more part of Nigeria, an act which shouldn't be, especially when south Africa (us) had rejected Nigeria from doing same when Nigeria (Russia) tried to do so in 1962.......
