When registering for WES, is it compulsory to put institutions to send the result to or you can do that later after you've researched schools.
And how much does WES registration cost in naira.
Thank you. no you can send to the schools later, it's normally $40 for each result you send, just Google the price of WES Man! |

The problem now is I want to study microbiology, so they don't really go in line with each other. But I am also currently studying microbiology in university.. So should I put in the ds160 that I am a student or still still say I am learning programming which i used for my last ds160 which I got denied ? Well in terms of programming, Phyton and R can be used for analysis of various bulk forms of Biological data so it's still relevant, but then if you're an undergraduate why not finish and go for graduate studies? They have what you filled in the last time in there system so changing might raise more questions, but if that best defines your current situation then say it as it is, no need to lie, I can't tell exactly how it'll turn out, just have a good explanation on why you wantu leave it and go abroad for the same program, if it is access to better research facilities then state it and cap it up with a strong related job prospect as home tie, hoping it turns out fine |

Olatemmanuel01: Good day everyone, please I have a question and I would love to be enlightened on it. I just finished my secondary school in 2019 but I become a student of a tertiary institution this year. But before I became a student I was learning programming and IT related stuff. Please, what can you advice me to put in my DS160 when asked about my occupation . should I say I am a student whereas I just became a student this year or I should say I have been learning programming. Because I got to know this is a vital question that is always asked by a consular from an undergraduate. Am in anticipation for your replies. You can say that you're currently attending a boot camp were you're learning some coding and programming languages, preferably if you're going for a CS degree it'll be helpful, or you link the programming to however it'll be relevant to the degree you're going for |

lily156: Good evening everyone. I will be applying for a student visa for Summer 2022. My questions are: 1) I had a B1/B2 that expired in 2020. Am I eligible to do dropbox for a student visa? 2) I already have an interview date to renew the B1/B2. The date is in 2023. Will that affect my dropbox for the student visa. Do I have to first cancel the B1/B2 interview date? Thanks in advance. No. 1 Nigerians are no longer eligible for Drob box No. 2 according to someone with similar situation here who emailed the embassy, they said they May cancel your initial B1/B2 interview if you're to schedule for F1, so you just have to prioritize. |

naijaeclectic: Moderators, please let me know if I'm going against the rules and I'll delete this post. For now, here goes nothing:
So, I encountered loads of difficulties when I was leaving Nigeria. With the limits on Nigerian bank cards, I and the guy attending the same school (Miami University, Oxford, Ohio) could not pay for many things, even within that $50/$100 CBN-imposed limit. We spent days trying to pay for a hotel/Airbnb, GreyHound services, and whatnot. I've not been that stressed in years.
Let me not even go into how AirBnB canceled a booking when we were at the airport, an hour to getting on our flight. Why did they do that? Our booking was tagged as fraudulent. So, the booking came from Nigeria and payment from a virtual card with a US address. Also, because Airbnb refused to verify our Nigerian phone numbers for reasons known to them, we used one belonging to a friend in the UK. It was extremely complicated, and we'd tried all we knew, but that's the only option we had before we found someone who helped at the last minute. Let's just say that we ended up rooming in a hotel (read: motel) in a Nigerian-like neighborhood in New York.
Lol. Don't ask why the UK friend didn't just pay and do everything from his end. As I said, things were super-complicated.
The thing is that things could have been easier if someone helped facilitate everyone from one spot, with one card.
Based on this experience (and several more), I would like to help anyone who needs to pay for buses, accommodation, semester dues, and anything that they can't do from Nigeria. I've seen people who can't access US websites, people whose cards are not working, and people who are faced with using a third-party offering ridiculous over-N515 (naira) exchange rates.
I understand that everyone's being careful and that you don't want to get scammed. But I am genuinely doing this because I can imagine the kind of stress people are going through right now.
Please send a message if you would like me to help. When you reach out, I can share details about myself, and you can Google me, too, for credibility purposes.
At this point, the stress in the world (read: Nigeria) is too much to add difficulties when japa-ing.
I sincerely hope this helps someone. Again: Moderators, if this is way off, please let me know and I'll delete this.
Thank you. at what rate/$ do you charge bro?? |

I appreciate your assistance and to all who responded with their opinions. Still trying to get a hang of replying or commenting on people's posts on this platform. I'm not sure that the same Americans that cancelled Drop Box for nigerian Nationals will agree to include us in this there new interview waiver program, email them directly to clarify though |

phoyeks: Hello to everyone in the house especially the Gurus. I came to this platform about a month ago and have been learning so much from all the transcripts and responses. Pls I will like to ask for some counsel. This is my scenerio: My son got an admission for an undergraduate study for Fall 2022 just last December, 2021. Prior to this, we( the whole family) had applied for B1/B2 and had gotten an appointment for May,2022 as a group. Now my son is to apply for F1 and after calling the embassy, we were told there's the probability the whole family's appointment may be cancelled once we try to switch his application to F1. The next available dates are from July 2023! We are at a crossroad on what to do. Meanwhile his Sevis fee and acceptance fee have been paid for. Question: 1. Do we leave his B1/B2 so our appointment is secured i.e he will appear with us and afterwards file for F1? 2. Do we take the risk and cancel the appointment so his application for f1 is effected? 3. Can he appear for the Tourist visa and then pay for another MRV to fill for F1? I"ll really appreciate if these questions and what steps to take can be clarified. Thank you. rate your son's F1 and the family b1/b2 on a scale of preference and make a decision, if the latter is just for casual holidays I'll suggest you prioritize your son's F1, family holidays can always happen some other time, besides if they cancel your appointment, you can keep checking the portal especially in the midnights it will throw up earlier dates within 2022 for your family b1/b2, you can even use the emergency appointment option if the holidays/event you wish to attend has a definite date/time frame, but like I said earlier, weigh your options and prioritize. |

What are my chances in US university? @Svelte98 have said it all, just evaluate your OND & HND with WES and go for Ms/PhD admission, preferably something related to your HND or current work experience, forget about the age thing provided you're not going for another undergrad you're good to go |

Sammyib: Hello I was recently denied an f1 visa to a community college in December last year, I believe due to funding Cos I wasn’t prepared for the question of what my sponsor does and his business here i stammered and wasn’t confident . I decided to start classes fully online at the community college till my next interview date which is in October 2022, will this increase my chances of getting the visa since it shows I have paid the fees for the first year and it also shows I am serious with the school? Seems you're kinda new to this forum, now a quick one, what is your highest academic qualification and what is your age? Paying fees and Starting online doesn't change anything, it is even adviced that you don't pay anything until your visa is approved, secondly if your program can be completed online and VO gets to know by any means it doesn't help your case |

So I want to know, when asked my source of income, if its a RED FLAG to say forex/crypto. In my opinion I think it's a red flag, i Know there are Crypto & forex billionaires but I still think it's a very volatile/unstable market and therefore not a sustainable source of income, other people might think otherwise but I strongly feel it's a red flag. |

SOPWriter: I am elated that you made it to 2022. Last year was great for some of us, but I am confident that the new year will be greater for all of us.
To the pioneers of this thread, please accept my gratitude. You guys are the real MVP.
In this new year, please do not underestimate the power of rehearsal and crosschecking. You can post your transcripts on this thread to be assessed from multiple perspectives. Similarly, close friends or family members can also be helpful. Interview yourselves out loud. You might view this as a form of madness, but it's just a temporal yet rewarding insanity that would only last a few weeks.
Lastly, avoid travel agencies that could possibly earn you a ban or complicate your application/profile this new year. U.S. Embassies and Consulates ban hundreds of applicants every week, so let's be careful.
Happy New Year to you and your respective families. Let the testimonies begin to flow! Valid points, good advice, happy New year fam |

Triggerlly: I had 1.82cgpa on scale of 5.0, with 325 GRE score, are there schools that consider such cgpa grade in respect to the gre score that I can apply to? GPA too low, GRE too high, the least I have seen US Universities accepting is 2.5/4, do you have plenty work experience? Or maybe you can improve your chances by doing PGD related to what you wantu do and smashing it, adding it to your high GRE will give you a big chance, Also write TOEFL to increase your options |

Is using a college a red flag ? Does the VO check academic progression ?.

adeheritage: Please I am in urgent need of helpful information for my stage of the process.
I have PhD admission with a graduate teaching assistantship position which provides full tuition fees waiver and a monthly stipend of 1995 USD.
I am supposed to have access to tetfund to cover my program in the US, but I am not going with tetfund for two major reasons. 1. For my intended resumption date (January 2022), tetfund application is too late and will only necessitate a deferment which I don't wish to do. 2. Being that I have the full tuition waiver and the stated amount in monthly stipends, I feel it amounts to greed for me to still apply for tetfund, so that EFCC or ICPC will not be looking for someone late. does the above reasoning hold?
Now it's a family of four (one F1, three F2)
With the tuition waiver and stipends, will the embassy still expect me to show proof of fund and to what range of amount please?
Finally, since I got my i20 on 27th, i have not been able to complete the visa application form. The site appears to be rejecting information.
Can anyone please help me with some clues.
I will be grateful. Hello bro congrats on your admission/Funding. If the Funding doesn't cover for your dependents, apply for the TETFUND schoolarship to cater for them, it's not greed because you need it as you'll have to show proof of funds for them, tell the school to send you an updated I-20 reflecting your dependents and it's cost, you then use the TETFUND money to offset the bills, contact your grad cord to see if the school can leave your funding after deferment because I'll advice you defair to Fall'22 to afford you ample time to put everything in place both the TETFUND schoolarship, New I-20 and visa applications, that's my opinion, wish you the best |

My resumption date is 3rd Jan. I emailed them, and they said they will contact me once the admin processing is over. Remember, my passport is with me . Do I still stand a chance? When I check my visa status, I see that "a VO has refused ur visa... If you were informed by the consular officer that your case was refused for administrative processing, your case will remain refused while undergoing such processing. You will receive another adjudication once such processing is complete". I've seen that most people placed under administrative processing have their passport collected. I'm so worried. Has anyone had a case similar to mine? Please let me know how it ended. keep sending reminders, they should get back to you. |
