Hi Hi, I never knew a thread like this existed. Thanks guys.
I’m to commence my RA and GA for masters in TnTech Tennessee on 3rd Jan, and classes begin 10th Jan. My Visa interview was initially scheduled for 7th Dec but suddenly I saw an email of a shift to 12th Jan. That’s far from my scheduled resumption… what can I do? I applied for another emergency Visa schedule (I had applied before to get the 7th date)… do you think the embassy just shifts Visa dates abruptly?
Please someone talk to me. I have got funding and don’t wanna miss it.
Lastly is there anyone going to Tennessee, TnTech??
Boss I applied for fall'22, which program are you going for?
TravelRe: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 16 by emmanuelle27: 10:44pm On Dec 01, 2021
Nawa oh, these people with funding that are being denied what could the embassy say it's the problem?? I'm shocked on there behalf.

Hello all.
I just got admission to study MS chemistry at Tennessee technological university with full funding. I was asked to show Proof of fund of $5718 to cover other expenses.
I have a sponsor which is my inlaw. Is he to provide a bank letter or statement of accounthuh

I'm asking cos I see some people use only bank letter while some used 6 month statement of acct.

Secondly, printing 6month statement of account, won't it be too voluminous especially account with high frequency of transaction?
he is to provide SOA maybe 3 months, I emailed you bro, pls reply I wish to ask one or two things

One more question guys, when a VO asks why this degree?, is it the same thing with what will this degree do for you? are they one and the same question?

Kindly try to do that, it surely will strengthen your application. In the meantime, keep applying for any available opportunities. I have seen people get funding even without any publication. Another nugget is, try to always ask any program you are interested in for an application fee waiver. That will save you some cash and will surely amplify the number of schools you get to apply to.
thanks a lot brother, I appreciate, I'll do all you've recommended

Not yet, in touch with my supervisor though, trying to see if I can publish my project work

Bsc: Biochemistry
GPA (WES official) 2.92
TOEFL: S24 W22 R25 L28 = 99
GRE V146 Q152 = 298
Intended programs: Ms Chemistry, Ms Biotechnology etc. I have been doing my own homework but your extra suggestions will be very helpful based on school and programs, thanks a lot.
@Tylerbaby , i applied to your school biotechnology program with this profile, do you think it'll fly?

You are good to go. You have good chances for funding with GA since it is chemistry. Try Utah state university, they've gotten juicy offer for chemistry there. You have no worries for funding. Use search bar on this thread on nairaland to find schools past students doing chemistry have applied and got funded.
thanks a lot, I'll do that now

You can check the Chemistry and Biochemistry Departments at Virginia Tech. Would you be up for a direct PhD program? I have a friend who got direct PhD admissions with his BSc degree. Also check Marquette University, UTSA and U of South Carolina
All the best.
thanks a lot, it's the GPA that is making me not talk about PhD oh, that's why I'm focused on Ms

Hello friends, I just got admitted into borough of Manhattan community college to study financial management (two years, associate degree ) . My plan is to move to zicklin school of business to study finance and investment ( full 4 years degree) after completing my associate degree program.

Now my question is being an associate degree instead of a full degree program, and also a community college instead a four years standard college, will I be able to secure a student Visa or will I be denied because I'm not going for a full degree program ?

Has anyone here secured student visa going for an associate degree instead of a full degree ?.

Thanks ,your answers and advice will be greatly appreciated.
Tell the VO exactly what you said here, how u wish to go on to a university to study finance, I have read were someone said this same thing on this forum and it worked, I think they understand that any ambitious AS degree holder will want to finish it up at a proper University, so in my opinion you're good to go, but then I hope you're still a teenager and you don't already have a bachelor's degree?

I think it does establish enough home ties; though I feel it will be more nice to say you have a verbal agreement already with your Alma mata/faculty for the office of an assistant lecturer (or whatever position you think someone with your qualification qualifies for) upon the completion of your study.
I've read a transcript with here with something like that; and I think it worked.
thanks a lot man

Your best bet will be leaning towards PASSION for biology. Try come up a convincing story that is believable and short. You can also say your alma mater gives alumni special consideration to be absorbed back as lecturers, just organize am in a way. You getting funding will also help your cause. Goodluck.
thanks

Hello e-brethren, I humbly seek your options, for a biology graduate who works as a sales rep in a Telecom company, going for Ms biology and intending to become a university lecturer, I'm looking for a good way to establish ties since I'm definitely not coming back to this my current job(sales rep) as it isn't related. In your subjective opinions, does telling the VO you wanna come back to your University to become a Lecturer establish enough home ties? Or what will y'all rather suggest, Pls help, @Twoods, NigerPilot ....

Good afternoon everyone here.
I just started this thread last night and im still trying to read up
I see all the good works yall are doing thanks and God bless
Please o you people should help me im getting tired and frustrated
I have been delayed so much because of strikes and other things. I'm currently in 200l studying mls. And I want to go to the US as a transfer student.
What are my chases of getting in?
What valid reason can I give to the VO officer as my reason for going
How do i fill my DS-160 to make it look convincing to the VO
Are there cheap schools I can apply to?
Are there undergraduate scholarships available?
I'm a 23year old female. Will my age be a disadvantage or anything like that?
Please i need help
You people should come to my aid
Thanks
you're still a young lady, age isn't a problem here from my perspective, just prepare a nice response on why you wantu transfer, there's hardly scholarships for undergrad so you need to have a lot of money, if not you may want to consider doing very well in your undergrad so you can easily secure scholarship in America, good luck.

Glory be to God. The story long and rough no be small. To see money for ticket that time na die, but we thank God today. I was stranded in Queens, NY, before reporting to school. I left school in Chicago after my first semester in December, 2014 (even though I made straight A's in all my courses). I was supposed to get a scholarship but the state of Illinois had some issues with funding at the time, and I no get money to pay. I moved to Texas to get a friend to co-sign for me to get a student loan with Discover, but that fell through. I later Joined the U.S. Army after I collect green card in March, 2016 (they paid for my first masters and I am currently doing the second one they are paying for as well), and I am working in IT as a Cloud Security Engineer now after I got out. Anything is possible in this country with hard work, prayer and patience. Most importantly, no dey follow anybody do competition, move with the right people, and stay in your lane.
Man your story is inspirational, thanks a lot, I'm encouraged

RomanceRe: Chai! Nigerian Girls In Canada Are So Lonely! by emmanuelle27: 10:58am On Nov 10, 2021
Damilolly:
Ladies, date widely, very widely with respect to race!

Withhold physical intimacy until you have what you want; if it's marriage then wait till then. Don't give marriage benefits outside of marriage. No cooking for him either. If he can't happily date you without physical intimacy or you feeding him then he's not likely to be loving, thoughtful and kind towards you in marriage.

Let the best man win. Don't narrow your pool to your tribe or race. The average Nij man in the diaspora is open not only to his tribe in his preferred age range but he's open to women of his race and then even women of all other races add on top of that women back home including some they couldn't step to prior to emigrating.

Is it then wise that when in a country where your tribes men are .025% of the population and this same tribes men have widened their pool to 100% of women in the country, add on top women they could and couldn't step to prior to emigrating ), you limit yourself to that? You need to widen your pool to men of every race then have a strict criteria to help sieve them. This is the best formula for a happy stable marriage.

Caucasian men are generally more loving, kind, loyal, faithful and romantic. More so as you're an immigrant having a man who is from the country you've settled is a plus. Less strain on the relationship and more time to focus and enjoy all that's around you. Better opportunities for your children; who are most likely not planning to emigrate to Nij yet your Nij husband is building homes in Nij. For whohuh

You actually have an edge over most wives as an African wife. You're much more family oriented and loyal. Asian men have begun to notice this too. Asian women are now marrying oyinbo men and the men can't believe their luck! The Asian or Black woman wants to build relationships with the husband's family who don't even require her to come to theirs to clean or cook ie display her wifely material etc. She cooks and is a home maker.

Be open to new interests, hiking, theatre, cycling, swimming, gardening, jogging, bird watching, camping etc. Everything is online these days. Put up a nice, simple decent profile. Clear photos and your interests in your bio. If no interests you have to begin to build hobbies. Please stop limiting your dating pool and totally avoid going back to Nigeria to find a spouse. It usually does not work well for a loving happy marriage. Most Nij men are uncomfortable with the dynamic and are either distracted showing those back home how well they're doing or annoyed that no one is deferring to them and sucking up to them in their immediate environment even as they're earning more than they used to. God speed!
Lool, this one wants to weaponize sex to extract commitment, you can only do that on a man who doesn't have options, good luck with that grin

Small breasts are better to me. Less graphic when they fall. And there's not much falling that will happen with small breasts, so they remain perky and pretty looking longer than large breasts. As a woman I think it's better to have small or medium sized than big jare.

So sorry guys am just trying to avoid long epistle I apologise

VO : why did you choose this programe

Me: I chose this programe because after majoring in courses like speech language and pathology, psychology and linguistics. I will be able to work with children and help children with speech language difficulties. I can help children develop their ability to communicate. I will offer pediatric speech therapy that will help treat children with communication challenges. Both in how they speak and how they understand communication.
Nigerians lack professionals in this field, in this situation is often tied to spiritual problems in Nigeria. Being professional in this field I will help parents of children with delayed speech seek for medical solutions instead of terming it to spiritual forces or hereditary.
I see from the initial transcript that the question asked was what will this program do for you? I also guess the answer you only gave what it'll do for others i.e Nigerians, children, you didn't specify how it'll help you improve your carrier/employment when you return, I guess she was looking for home ties, I keep guessing because a VO can deny visa for any reason which is best known to him or her
