Hello gurus in the house, a friend needs your professional opinion, how does he tackle this situation, he's considering deferring to fall'22 as he doesn't have the SOA($33,000) for now to process the i-20, while at the same time waiting for other schools fall admission decisions. on a second thought Another mind is telling him to reply the mail and tell him that the Visa application will be made easier with any form of assistantship in his I-20, but I'm thinking it might come off as being too pushy, what do you you guys advice, he hasn't replied the mail since yesterday, looking for an appropriate approach.

bunmisoar: I give thanks to God for the success of my Interview My visa was approved on Tues, 7th Sept, 2021 for FALL SESSION. Yes, FALL SESSION.
I learnt a lot from this platform regarding my preparation and my conscience will not let me rest till I post my success story for others to learn from too. I thank everyone here, God bless you for the helpful tips, and by the Grace of The Almighty God, every other person here will testify too. Be relentless, pursue it like your life depends on it, above all, Gods Grace is supreme over all we do.
SO my school, Morgan State University resumed since the 23rd of Aug, with faith, I registered for classes (I didn't make payment though because the school gives so time before payment) and resumed classes online. I made my department aware of my delayed interview and pleaded with them to write an extension letter for me to take along to my interview. My department did, and sent me the letter.
Here's how my interview went: (a black male in his early 40s interviewed me)
FALL 2021 NO FUNDING
VO: Hello good morning Me: (with a smile) Hello, good morning sir, how are you doing today (be as friendly as possible in your greeting, it will help in reducing the anxiety in you)
VO: Pass your documents Me: (I gave him passport first, then passed my I-20, extension letter, and DS-160)
VO: (as he was collecting the documents) SO why are you going to the US? Me: I am going there to study. I will be studying my Masters in Public Health at Morgan State University, which is located at Baltimore, Maryland.
(So if your department is giving you an extension letter for resumption, contact the International Affairs department of your school, send them the letter your department gave you, and tell them to reflect that extension in the remarks section of the I-20)
Shalom!!! Wish you all THE best!!! Omo, the odds were against you but you came prepared and succeeded against all odds, congratulations. |

Dayoaf: So I actually have an extension letter My program start date was August 17 But I was given a month extension I already deferred to spring but I’m thinking of using my fall transcript to do my interview on Monday, cos its available for emergency But I was also thinking I could pick a later date like October and use my Spring i-20 but a friend said I might not be able to use EA for spring because my appointment confirmation would show that its EA and that might affect me because spring is still far Please help! I’m so confused Go to that Monday interview with your Spring'22 I-20, nothing to be confused about, Good luck. |

Amenndmore: Is it better to apply for a visa with a school that offered you 50% scholarship with a higher school fees or a school that offered you assistantship with 40% tuition waiver with a lower tuition .. that’s for visa though. Thanks choose the one the leaves you with the smallest deficit |

kaey10: Hi guys...Please, I need your input and opinion that will help me prepare for my visa interview, although I haven't gotten a date yet. I just don't want anything to go wrong. What should my possible answers be when the VO begins to ask those questions. I need advise, opinion, suggestion on answers that is convincing enough.

Thanks Go to ETS website and serch for TOEFL exam centers near you, for the registration, you can be registered from anywhere, I do it at 60k(A bit Subsidized), there may be cheaper people though ask of Walspring too, unless u can't prep on your own and you want the centers to help prep you then you can check Google for the various registration and prep centers, but then the price will go up. Best. |

BabsofAbj247: Visa approved.
VO: What school are you going to? Me: Stated the name of my school VO: How many schools did you apply to? Me: Told him the schools I applied to VO: What program are you going for? Me: Stated my program (Masters) VO: What do you intend to use the program for? Me: Upon the completion of my program, I intend to come back to Nigeria to focus on at my company. In addition, I intend to use the knowledge obtained from my masters to improve my start-up. VO: What do you do currently? Me: Explained in detail the nature of my job and the companies I have worked with VO: Wow VO: How do you intend to fund the program, I can see you got some scholarship? Me: I would be using my savings and MPOWER. In addition, my uncle would provide financial assistance. VO: What does your uncle do: Me: Told VO the companies my uncle own VO: I would be approving your VISA blah blah blah
It is very important to know what you have on your DS-160 form. While I was talking about the things I do for my Company, the VO kept looking at the screen to verify what I said.
I hope this helps. Good luck. No it doesn't help anyone bro This kind of transcript only portrays Selfishness, wickedness and insecurity, you don't want other Nigerians to get vital informations from your transcript, you might have as well kept it to yourself instead of coming here to embarrass yourself in the name of visa transcript, So this is what this thread has degenerated into? No thanks to folks who's been encouraging it, justify it anyhow y'all want but I won't reply you, congrats anyways, but you can do better |

Nozino: Are you stupid ? How are you speaking authoritatively if I clearly stated that my statement was base on personal experience and research? you should be grateful that you learnt what you didn't know before despite your years of research but instead you're getting emotional and resorting to name calling, it's time to ignore you. |

Nozino: I shouldn’t be the one to do the work because it doesn’t apply to me. The schools I checked has 3.0/4.0 minimum GPA requirement.Don’t make this about me. then stop speaking authoritatively about what doesn't apply to you which you don't know. |
Travel › Re: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 16 by emmanuelle27: 4:11pm On Sep 03, 2021 |
Nozino: Ok. Most schools I have checked out (and that’s quite a lot) clear states 3.0/4.0 scale as the minimum. I feel the GPA she gave was the American equivalent. Most Nigeria unis do not use the 4.0 grading system. next time do your home work well, it's a common knowledge

tmann626: it was due to insufficient undergraduate credit hours i.e curriculum deficiencies and my GPA is 2.94 (wes). Does the graduate pathway program come with i-20? If yes, I suggest you go with it and try your luck, but if I were in your shoes, I'll search for schools that will accept me unconditionally with my profile, there'll always be a school somewhere, you can always mail the program or graduate school coordinator and explain your profile to them so u can be sure before applying, Best |

tmann626: Please i need an urgent advise so that i will be able to make a decision. I got a conditional admission in a university and i was advised to graduate studies academic pathway program. I have an undergraduate degree in computer engineering and i'm planning to go for masters in computer science. should i opt for the graduate studies academic pathway program or i should forgo the conditional admission because i was informed that i-20 cant be issued for conditional admission. Kindly advise What were the circumstances surrounding your situation that made them give you conditional admission/graduate study pathway, is low GPA? Absence of test scores? Etc, tell us why then we'll know if anybody has the best solution to your problem, but then without i-20 I don't know how you'll convince the VO |

Will the new WES report be my official transcript Or irrespective of WES, my school still needs to send transcript.
Thanks If you've done WES they'll always send the official transcript to any school that needs it at your request, you don't need any other transcript from your nigerian institution, you'll just have to pay small money to WES for them to process it, it think it's now about $15 |
