Dear E-family, out of the 3 admits I have only this one came with a little funding, problem is they're asking for a tuition deposit of $250 within the next 10days to secure my seat, but then I still have one more school left which is promising that there might be funding, I don't want to make any financial commitment and later abandon it, money scarce for this country

UmmZayd: Okay. An applicant wants to apply for visa using two different accounts at two different places? Well I've not seen or heard of this before but this is as bold as it gets. Me I just have a question, if this is possible and the applicant gets the dates what will he/she do if the first visa location gets rejected? Will he/she go to the second location with the same data for a second fresh interview?? What is the likely thing that will happen to the applicant? No one can create two different accounts with similar information so your question doesn't apply |

Planner99: Please is it possible to pay 2 visa fees and book 2 visa appointments (one in Abuja, the other in Lagos) with 2 different DS-160s (but with same data)? If one doesn't get favourable dates, is it possible to apply for emergency appointments in both consulates with the different DS 160s after having paid 2 separate visa fees. I hope my question is clear. No it's not possible |

cuttingedge: Hello all, I think I've asked this question before but still not sure I got anyone to respond...or maybe I missed the response. Myself and my wife got a fully funded PhD and Grad Assistantships. When we apply for Visa, how do we go about it and how do we sort out the critical issue of home ties and all. We have a 1year plus son. Also how do we sort out the issue of SOA too. My guy, forget about going through the corners, you and you wife got fully funded offers, you both should go for the interview with your baby, forget about all these fear about home ties because they'll still have your family's records even if you split the application, use your current jobs or what you both intend doing upon return to the country to establish ties, you guys have FULLY FUNDED PhD OFFERS for God's sake so don't allow unecessary fear of the unknown to derail your application, goodluck to you and your family. |

Planner99: Hello guys,
I need your input on this. I'm sorry, it's going to be a long one, kindly bear with me:
I currently have an active immigration case as my dad filed for me to immigrate into the US. This should come to fruition hopefully in a couple of years.
I've always planned to do a masters in my field as soon as I immigrated but since the pandemic struck and everything slowed down, I feel like I should no longer just sit and wait for that.
I have gotten an admission into a respectable US graduate school of my top choice (still looking for funding) and plan to apply for a student visa. My plan is to come back to Nigeria for my immigrant visa interview when it reaches my turn, I do not mind that at all. I'm hoping that will happen before my 2-year MSc is over. I want to get a masters in US specifically because that is where I plan to settle and a US degree will help secure jobs better and faster than degrees from another country
I just don't want to keep my career stagnant because of an unfortunate pandemic causing a lot of backlog for my immigration stuff as I'm in the best phase of my life and career to take this step.
I will like to add that I have previously gotten a B1/B2 visitors visa which I used once all while waiting for the immigrant visa. I had thought then too that they wouldn't grant the visitors visa because of my pending immigration stuff but they did. The visa officer just made sure to remind me not to mess up or overstay because that will negatively affect my immigration case.
Also, I am contemplating applying for a renewal of my visitors visa before applying for the student visa since I qualify for their new 'no interview, drop box' renewal. This is because regardless of whether my student visa is approved or not, I will like to visit my family freely without breaking their rules.
My questions are: 1. What do you guys think my chances of getting the student visa approved are? 2. Should I bother with the renewal of visit visa? 3. If my visit visa is approved and my student visa is refused after, will they cancel my visit visa that was approved? 4. If my visit visa is refused, will that negatively affect my chances of getting the student visa in a few months after? Forgot about going through the corners, if I were you, I'll go for F1 straight up, since I'm sure I didn't mess up my previous B1/B2 is they advised, I believe your F1 will be approved, besides the immigration stuff from your Dad is absolutely legitimate, no need to panic in my opinion |

Ezichi123: As usual, I walked into the interview hall with the hope and believe that God will change my story the secondtime. I had my first US interview 3 years back on Visiting visa and this time around, I decided to go for F1. I applied for MBA at one private school in USA. My one year estimation tuition and accommodation is $30,000 with $3000 scholarship from my school and my sponsoring bank statement of $34000.
Please, who can advise me on why I was rejected my visa. I have travelled to 6 countries. I was only one that was denied Visa among the number of white people that came for visa. Do you have a PR in Germany?? your transcript isn't detailed but I'm guessing that you're in Germany on a work visa, if that's the case then you have no strong ties in Germany, I'm guessing that it might be more beneficial for you to apply from NG. My opinion, na V.O get final decision. |

Redfang: Good morning comrades. Please I need help with my ds-160. I got a new job this January which is in line with my course of study, but I've held a previous job for close to five years now which I'm still into(it's a self-employed kind) and it's not in any way related to what I'll be studying in my master. My question is this, should I fill in both jobs or should I scratch the one that's not related to what I'll be studying? Thank you as you read and respond. even though it's a new job, I still feel it's better to use the job related to your program, besides that best describes your current circumstances so fill out everything on your DS form in that order starting from the old job to the current job |

Y'all Listen Up, I was the guy who was having issues with my PayPal account in making my GRE payments for additional score report, @keagan quoted my post with his number, telling me to reach out so that he can help me with his American PayPal account(I noticed he has since deleted that post from this thread) and see if it works, since I sent the money and the payment didn't work, the @Keagan guy had since stopped picking his calls or replying his text messages, 09077864983, I have contacted my Bank and his bank and they confirmed to me that the money was not sent, on running his number via my True caller I realized that he's been a serial Scammer which made someone to save his number with it, personally 13k is too small compared to the 100's of thousands I have spent in this admission journey but then I'm just putting this out here so that non of you all will fall victim of these dubious individuals, it's my bad that I didn't do my due diligence before transacting with him but when the opportunity comes I'll teach a lesson he'll never forget just because of 13k, that's the only promise I'm making him, be safe you all. I have attached the picture and link to his profile below https://www.nairaland.com/keagen

damolah10: I think ETS purposely make it almost impossible to make payment by one's self because of chargeback issues. However, you can get this done by putting a call through and initiate a request for additional test score via phone. They would ask for your card details such as name on the card, billing address, and the rest. Btw, stick with your flutterwave virtual dollar card because it's a visa debit card and that's what they accept not a master debit card. thanks bro |

Hello People, my ETS(GRE) payment for additional score report ($27) keeps saying Error 483: Payment cannot be processed, pls contact ETS I have explored all the available Online payment options(PayPal, GTb Master card, different PayPal accounts other than mine), Clearing my cache and Using different browsers but no improvement, I have also contacted ETS and they keep giving me generic responses, on consulting Google I realized that people(Indians) have had such issues but most of them said they looked for someone in the US to make the payment, this made me to try making the payment with my virtual dollar card from Barter by Flutterwave(since it's Virtually in San Francisco) which still didn't work, pls who has encountered this sort of challenge here and how did you solve it?? |

Inspireink: There are so many platforms (online and offline) that you can learn software engineering. As for me, I started online training from YouTube and LinkedIn learning, but I got stuck somewhere in the middle of the course. At times trying to self learn coding may be hard if there is no mentor to guide you. Currently, I am learning DevOps at Fellowship at The Bulb Africa (https://www.fellowship.thebulb.africa/). It was a friend in Lagos that actually introduced me to The Bulb. You don't need to pay until you're done with your training until you get a job as a software engineer. They even gave me a laptop. lol Hello bro, I sent you an email, I'm interested in this, what has your experience with them been? |

godguy: Please i need help and clarification, if you are a foreigner working in another country, during your interview, if you are asked your plan after graduation, what should you say, 1. Going back to your country to work. or
2. Going back to the country where you are currently working?
Please i need assistance on this.
thanks Man, we all know there's no job in Nigeria, it's not wise to tell them you're returning to Nigeria to look for work, if you have a job there, I think it's a stronger tie to tell them you're returning to your current place of work in a higher capacity, you'll be working there until the company posts you to another location, that's my one cent. Secondly if you're finally using the job to establish ties, use the US embassy in that country, elif come to Nigeria of you'r finally choosing the first option. |
