People in general and women in particular will always try to push you beyond your limit or plans, it is up to you to stand your ground.
Humans naturally abuse privilege so it is in your interest to always put yourself first.
Take a person to the car stand and they point at the most expensive car in the stand. Tell them to bring 50% of the money and see them quickly retreat back to nigerian used.
Are you planning a wedding or burial and see people talking about how to make the party a 1 in town event, kill 3 cows blah blah blah until you ask them how much are they contributing and then sanity comes back - ohhhh, don't you know i am a civil servant? na him you come dey budget all these like a footballer?
Years back when i was in a financial mess - failed business, heavily indebted, family expenses etc and during this moment, my car started giving me regular issues, so i decided to dispose it and get a nigerian used car atleast to be mobile pending when i float back.
My wife heavily kicked against it, that over her dead body, she won't enter such a car with me.
That i am very pessimistic and always spoil her prayers. She will be going to church praying for the family to have big big things, i will be thinking small ...Okay now.
She said i should keep the money and work more for like 3 years to get the money for the kind of car she likes ---- i see. In 3 years alot would have happened that i would have dipped my hands in the money. A burial, maybe wedding, naming, school, medical etc anything
That money won't grow rather spent. SO i told her to keep praying while i get this naija used first to be moving around.
The aim is to pressure me. She knows my jumping around on bike and keke within a year will pressure me to suspend every otehr things and prioritize the car.
Afetr getting the car, she was the one to jump in first and when i asked her why she is not waiting for 3 years to get her choice car, reply? she turned the table on me.
That i am not a caring husband. SO i expect her to be walking under the sun and rain using keke while i am driving a car that i don't Love her ... Na sooooooo

To me, i think the general rule of thumb is to always live atleast 50% your annual income since ost men won't be billionaires anyway.

I attended a wedding febraury this year.
What saddens me is that a man processed UK visa for this lady in late 2023 and spent 15m to get it for her.
He is a UK based man trying to bring a good lady from home (Nigeria) abroad to make his wife.
I don't know how they met - maybe online or connection by friends.
15m in 2023 is roughly 25 to 30m in todays naira value. SO we can have an idea of what that man spent all in the name of Love and relationship.
Guess what?
Immediately the lady got the visa, she broke up with him Right here in Nigeria before even touching London.
This is not a nollywood script rather what happened within my circle.
And as if that is not bad enough, she got engaged and did introduction to a new man she met at the train station in UK just 6 months arriving there.
Can you imagine that?
Just 6 months of breaking up with someone who has spent 15m on you to come into that country and you are already dating and engaged.
People were dancing in the wedding hall because it was a virtual wedding. The couples only joined us online watching through projector while both families were in the hall with their guest, musician, foods and drinks etc
I only pity the new man. Only if he knows what the lady did to the last man before he came in. I am sorry but he better watch his back.

I think they are expanding to other West African countries like Gambia, guinea and more in Sierra Leone.
Also, they are expanding more into producing car filters, I think securing a car upholstery contract with a car manufacturing company.
Also expanding more into oil and gas - I don't know but I believe securing contracts to supply FPSOs, oil rigs in Nigeria with their beddings.
All in all. I think there is still more room to grow

2) It is better to be in for the long haul, so buy companies with good financial fundamentals. Then give them time. I don’t plan on selling any of my buys in the next 5 years.

Companies like human have Life.
Humans give birth, then we grow and latter die. It is a natural cycle of Life.
To me, it is same with companies.
Companies breath, grow and latter dies ( to some, this is debatable). It doesn't mater how long, maybe a company will last 1 years,5 years or 100 years. On the long run, it either dies or get absorbed by another company.
So whatever is given birth to and grows needs regular Health check-up - check the pulse, BP, sugar level etc.
For a fundamentally sound stock, the quarterly reports stands as the regular medical checks to determine the health status of the company.
Reason i don't totally support the but and hold for long thing without regular checks.
Good companies hit hard times, experience bad managers etc and these companies become non-fundamentally sound as time goes on.

Actually it will be hard to predict which city nigeria will play outside the group stage.
The group stage ticket can easily be bought since there is a time table.
I will be joining mostly at Quarter final, so if i buy ticket maybe for Rabat thinking Nigeria will be the lead in their group but latter becomes the second runner up playing in Tangier or Marakech ..... na handicap be that.

Ghana's equity YTD is 132% while that of Nigeria is 55.9% . Is that a lie ? - Yes it did 132% but it is a very small market. Volume/depth is small. Nigeria's Ngx is bigger than the whole 14 other west african countries combined.

Travelling between Nigeria and Ghana from 2009 to 2020 atleast twice a year - Teshie, Circle, Nungwa, Tudu, Kasoa, Lapas etc
That inflation figure they are rolling out to me looks manipulated just as i am skeptical with the reducing inflation rate in Nigeria were the citizens are mostly not feeling the impact on ground.
Also, i work with many Ghanians currently and they always lament about the economy

Firstly, recognizing accounting methods and it’s impact in financial reports and metrics is very important.
Two identical companies can report vastly different results based on policy choices and a change in policy can invalidate year-on-year comparisons.
Reported earnings can be significantly different from economic reality.
Accounting policies determine how financial results are measured and presented; thus, identical business operations may yield divergent results under different policies.

The accounting policy used will determine whether to use Net profit or EBITDA
In a horizontal or trend analysis - where you compare the ratios or metrics of several years or period, using net profit if the company adopts one accounting policy without changing it overtime is okay or where the company analyzed is not investing much in PPEs which has big material impact on depreciation.

IAS 16 (depreciation) and 38(amortization) accounting policy determines wat you will use.
Is the company using Reducing balance or straight line approaching in determining their depreciation accounting method?
A SLM increases EBIT thereby increasing NP but a RBL reduces EBIT and NP but increases EBITDA

Summary - Use EBITDA if the companies you want to analyze uses same accounting policy, have huge investment in PPEs which will have impact in their depreciation and amortization.
Use Net profit if both vertical analysis/Top-down approach and Horizontal analysis/Trend analysis remain the same over-time and with companies having low PPEs and depreciation.

I totally agree with you.
That is why a boy who comes from a poor home and goes to university party and drink most times with ladies of same caliber is only setting himself up for failure if he is not wise because after school, some of these ladies will secure financially average men while the boy is starting from the scratch and those ladies will avoid him like a plague after school.

South Africa is richer and more advanced than Nigeria. So, having 500 airports is okay. South Africa is not our mate on the continent. The aviation industry has a thin profit margin, and globally, only a few airlines are consistently profitable. For us to have thriving airports, the country has to be rich, as we are the "richest" country in West Africa, and with such wealth, many Nigerians don't fly consistently, how much folks in Niger, Ghana, Mauritania and Senegal? The country has to be rich so the wealth spreads to many neighbouring countries, especially in Central Africa, such as Cameroon, Gabon, Equatorial Guinea and the like.

So when we have states like Ebonyi and Abia (two of the poorest states in the southeast) and Ekiti having airports, it amuses me. What annoys me is how the indigenes arrogantly and ignorantly defend the need for these states to have airports. Anambra did not need an airport when there is one in nearby Asaba. In fact, Asaba did not need an airport as there was already one in Benin City. Uyo did not need an airport when the Margaret Ekpo International (only in the name) airport exist and there is a thriving Omagwa Airport in Port-harcourt. Imagine a poor Abia having an airport when there are FIVE nearby states with airports and four within an hour and a half drive? In 2013, it took 30 minutes or 45 minutes if the driver drove slowly to get to Calabar from Uyo. Today, it takes at least 5 hours. Better roads or airports, which benefit more people?

What we need are high-speed railways connecting major cities across these states. Abia should collaborate with other states in the region to build cargo railways that terminate in the Onne area of Rivers state. Furthermore, collaborate with governors and political elites in the north east so their goods can be swiftly transported. Cross River, Taraba, Adamawa, Bauchi, and Benue can spearhead this move.

These things are not rocket science.

We are too poor to have many airports. Aside from the airports in Lagos, Abuja, Kano and Rivers, the rest should be closed or used as regional train stations.
