As noted yes. If you enter the fund at a down market period you will get the price of the fund low so you can buy more units and when stock market is up you can sell. However, the risk about the VBF and in general any balance fund is that both your capital and returns are not guaranteed you can lose your capital because one may not be able to predict correctly how long a down market will last. Most times experts advice to have a long term in mind if going into balance fund in case the market lull takes long time. On the positive side, returns on balance fund can be great in a very short while if there is a bullish run in the market.

VBF and VGIF, which one gives a higher return?
One can not really do the comparison in terms of rate because they belong to different type of mutual funds. VBF returns are not fixed. it depends largely on the performance of the stock market because major part of the fund is invested in the stock market. The returns could be very good if market is bullish but there could also be loss if the market is down. VGIF is another form of mutual fund. the rate is fixed at 8.5% bench marked with sdf. If I am to recommend right now with the economic reality I will opt for VGIF.

VBF and VGIF

can someone tell me what it all about

plz
VBF - vantage Balance fund. VGIF - Vantage Guaranteed Income Fund they are both mutual funds managed by investment one financial services.
Characteristics: VBF as the name implies invest clients fund on various assets basically the stock market, real estates, etc and some fixed income instrument. One major feature of this fund is that returns and capital are not guaranteed everything depends on the status of the stock market. Though riskier the returns can also be more if there is bull in the stock market.
on the other hand, VGIF is a fixed income form of mutual fund. The fund has a guaranteed fixed returns at 8.5% with also guaranteed principal. interest is paid twice in a year though it's earned daily. You can check my signature for my contact and link to open account and for more information.

Please advise is needed. It is a good time invest some unused cash in stanbic mmf at the moment? Not sure because of the Coronavirus ish that's why I am asking.
Though rates are low for MMFs at this time, it's still better than just leaving your money to stay idle. You can also do other forms of mutual funds like VGIF, rate is a bit higher and it's guaranteed with the principal. Check my signature for my contact and link to open account.

I need some help. If I have submitted an e-div mandate for company AAA shares I purchased through broker ABC, do I need to submit a new mandate if I'm buying same company AAA stocks through another broker DEF?

Same CHN, same bank details. Just a different broker?

I'm asking for those of us that were with analog brokers and now have accounts with digital brokers and want to increase our holdings on currently held stocks via the new brokers.

Thanks
You don't need to submit another mandate if it's the same CHN. Actually registrars identify shareholders by CHN, by investors account number of a particular company and they will just cross check with the bank mandate to confirm name of account and BVN

Someone quoted me (dstick or something like that). I see he has his ID and infront of the office why don't u do same so we can begin to have a little trust...
For investment, I already have one in a reputable institution. smiley
No worries. I know you are expressing your personal views. I tell you even if one post his employment letter here there will still be diverse opinions. Imagine currently you still have people that don't use ATM card. They don't believe in it. I understand your fears. But never mind the field is wide enough for everyone to play, there will always be accountability an the end of the day. It's well.

Oga Emmasoft and Dsticks47, I think the reason for this thread is for people to share, air their views, give opinions regarding mutual funds. I follow this thread as with some other investment threads here, so please do not see my opinion as an attack, I know how marketing of financial products can be too, as I was one too one time in my life. Please you guys should kindly allow conversations to flow here. Still market o, but allow people to share opinions whether or not they like your product or not. The thread is becoming boring sef....compared to treasury bills and the 2 other stocks thread.
@Tabuse20 Yes everyone can air their views no problem about that. But we also try to correct wrong impressions and assertions when seen or noticed.

Mind you, this is a faceless forum, how do the public know who is a legitimate marketer here?
In the first place instead of concluding on what you may not have full knowledge of. You would have come straight and ask the question that you want to know how to know a legitimate marketer in a faceless forum like this or generally, I believe some of us here can help out. More so you hear the expression DO YOUR DUE DILIGENCE it's your job to do, like I said before do your research please and don't give everybody same name. Thank you. The way I say see now you are likely to be my next client. grin

Why not direct the public to this office with there websites or the office lines to call Rather than your personal number. Do u work there, what is your interest in that investment institution.?
For your information the link is given to me from the company as per my job role and that is how its to be used. I also believe each company has right and their way to market their products in as much as it's not violating the regulatory rules .You needed to have make your research before making such a statement in a public forum like this. I am sure you have not reach out to investment one to make any findings. If you had done that I am sure you would have been well guided. Make finding first before you make assertions please.

Thanks for the nice info. But please nobody should click any signature to open online account it doesn't end well always . u know what I mean...
Please let’s be well guided in our use of language. If you have had not too good experience online from links that is not enough reason to post such statement in a thread like this. What you just said amount to demarketing, and it’s not allowed. Investment One is a reputable SEC regulated investment firm and information about them is in the public domain. It will be wrong of you to label a link you have never used this way. Did you click the link? Were you directed to a different site other than Investment one? I can tell you that there are investors on this threads and related threads who didn’t need to come to our physical office but open their account online with the link and they have been doing well ever since. Please retrace your statement. Thank you.

One major guide in stock trading is to determine your entry and exit and be disciplined enough to keep to it irrespective of what you see in the market. Mind you entry and exit can be done as many times as possible. Don't allow fear or greed to rule over you. You must guide your emotions ie NO sentiment.

Taking advantage of information they are privy to about the company to trade the company's shares. It's against the company policy in many multinationals.
All information you need to know about a listed company as an investor are always published on the NSE portal. Directors/management and employees of listed companies are also investors. What the rule says is what has been done to disclose their deals ie purchase or sales. Hence we have what is called closed period during such period it becomes wrong for them to trade that is what is insider trading. Let's be well guided

My question is, are we past the worse economic pandemic? I do not think so, I expect there to still be a terrible recession as soon as the distraction of Coronavirus wears off whether or not there is a cure. So will this upward trend of the market continue in the same upward surge it is going or will this rally only last for a while? It is just confusing to me.
Markets all over the world are always in circles of bulls and bears. It's your responsibility as an investor or trader to be vigilant to know when to enter and when to exit. Enjoy the current bull while it last. If recession comes later you can change strategy life goes on.

Not liquid.......instead of Chi it's better to even go for Jaiz or Unity self. Not saying you should buy the two o, just comparing the popularity of the two sets ni. grin
Let's know the reason you're interested in Chi so you can be rightly guided.......but Chi is definitely not the way to go for now.
To add to that NB: Though professionals advice you buy stocks at low price, it's not every low price stocks that has substance hidden in it. the low price could as well mean low fundamentals. Let's be well guided. Do your due diligence.

Sorry to ask please an investment of 500k should yield how much by end of the year
Most of the MMF rates now revolves around 5 to 6%+ and TBills is even lower across all tenors, it’s an economic reality. MMF is SEC regulated and very safe. If you want higher returns it means you must do riskier investment. So, if you are risk averse don’t complain just make do with the current rates while hoping for better rates when things improves and policy favors.
In addition, I will recommend you look the way of another form of mutual fund called Guaranteed income fund VGIF, it’s also for risk averse folks, another advantage is that the rate is guaranteed, and interest earned daily like MMF. Principal and interest of 8.5% guaranteed.

Yea, I got mine too. I think the rate has dropped a bit, a day interest is missing after my calculations. I will keep eyes on them
Good to know. Remember I told you guys everything is under control. When it comes to Fund managers the priority is to make sure any fund deposited is invested accordingly and the interest is earned. The priority is to take care of any process that will have effect on your investment. Every other process like posting, giving reports, etc which in reality does not have any effect on the value of your investment comes later.

One of the lessons we just learnt under this COVID-19 regime - It has shown us how much our money can make for us while we are lock-down/not active at work or in any business. If while on lock-down, you are not making any passive income then it means you need to start investing immediately in fact you need to declare a state of emergency on your investment situation, as little as 5% or 6% some MMF managers are giving now, some people still got credited or will be credited while they are on lock-down and dividends were paid and will still be paid to investors in stocks. If you are on lock down and your money too is lock down, then you need to review your investment strategy. Assume this lock-down is your retirement period how well can you live well without working? If only when you open business, or you are present at work you make money then your investment is not complete you need to do more forms of investment. Just a lesson!
