Let's be calm folks. This is not a normal regular time we are in the whole situation took the whole world by storm . Be rest assured nothing is wrong, some of your experiences is for your good. If the cost to post and do some other things during this lock-down is going to have a material effect on your investment i think it's better to wait than to have a loss. All that is happening is as a result of the lock-down. Sincerely the cost of working from home for financial institution is not as easy as it's been said. I can assure you your dividend will be paid and the value date for reinvestment of interest will still carry 1st of April 2020 as value date and you will get all accrued interest till date when it's posted.

Note: Posting interest is not same as earning interest. Interest is earned daily nothing stops that. what you have now is interest earned but not yet posted. Remember we are all in the same boat together and definitely we shall sail to shore.

Pls house, I am wondering why stanbic ibtc mmf is yet to Re invest my accrued interest (quarterly), and today is 9th already.
NB I started in December 2019, although they occasional reinvest interest in piece meal.,
So I want to know if it's the same with other stanbic mmf investors.
Thanks
Kindly note that reinvestment model of ibtc is quite different from the likes of investment one and others. They reinvest at random not per quarter. You will need to call their customer care to educate you on their reinvestment model. that is all I can say right now, I am not an insider. Just helping out.

Ok. Thanks ..... but what is SDF??
standard deposit facility. it's the rate cbn give to banks for depositing funds with the cbn. it's the lower basis point of asymmetric corridor around the MPR. currently from the last MPC meeting the asymmetric corridor around MPR is +200/-500 basis points the lower basis point is -500 and the MPR currently is 13.5 if you remove 500 basis point you have 8.5% that how it's gotten. You can also check the last page of this link https://www.cbn.gov.ng/Out/2020/MPD/Central%20Bank%20of%20Nigeria%20Communique%20No.%20129%20of%20the%20Monetary%20Policy%20Committee%20Meeting%20held%20on%20Monday%2023rd%20and%20Tuesday%2024th%20March%202020.pdf

Okthanks for this explanation. I'm actually beginning to consider VGIF that's why I was doing some background check and stumbled on the 7%. You're right its on the calculator so I thought that's the present rate. Once again, thanks

@ emmasoft
Am actually considering investing in VGIF but please I have a question: what is guaranteed:- is it the capital invested or the starting interest rate huh meaning the rate will remain the same throughout the period of my investment
Awaits your response pls. Thanks
Principal and interest guaranteed. except SDF is changed by the cbn no change on the interest rate. There is also an additional interest that adds to the 8.5%, however, this depends on excess profit of the fund in a given year. From experience, for the past six years there has always been extra interest apart form the guaranteed rate. Personally I will recommend it for anyone at this time. Kindly use the account opening link or call my phone number on my signature to help my ministry ie meet target. Thank you.

MrDiligence:
I saw 7.0% n their website. Has it changed?
I'm sure what you saw on the website is VGIF calculator where u see number 7 written on the assumed rate. That is not the rate it's a calculator where you can put different rate and help you calculate what your fund value will be at a particular period using a specific rate and amount . As earlier posted the rate is benchmark with SDF which is 8.5%. Except SDF changes its rate can not change . VGIF rate is not like the MMF that has daily value. The current rate - 8.5% has been so since 2019.

How does the interest run?
The 8.5% is per annum but d interest is earned daily and will be paid or reinvested twice a year depending on your choice of interest utilization. My contact and link is on my signature

I just discovered that my accrued returns on FBN money market has been N0.00 since Friday. Which is not supposed to be.

Checked my bank account to see if the money was paid into it, but nothing.

I'm curious, anyone with any explanation to this?
Your accrued interest for Q1 is being processed for payment while the accrued interest from 1st April till date will be posted shortly. It's end of quarter things don't worry yourself. If you opt for reinvest interest by now you would have notice it has been reinvested.

Just a bit curious, is the rate annual?
All rates are always annual but calculated and earned daily while it's paid bi-annually for VGIF it's paid quarterly for MMF - Abacus

Tips on how to have an edifying church service at home. 1 Corinthians 14:40

1. Have the right attitude this is very key it will help you to put meaning to the whole exercise

2. Practice God’s presence- you must always remember that God is there Matt 18:20 ie Jehovah shammah

3. Have a particular place in your home as the place of meeting, leave your bed, kitchen and move to that particular place.

4. Dress up just as one going to church it can be simple but not very casual showing in a way you have left home for church even though the church this time is just a part of your home.

5. When you get to the place of your church at home go along with your bible, hymn book and writing materials also observe the usual procedures of church service and be there at the right time

6. If you are using the internet be sure you have the right link before the service starts or tune to the frequency on your radio to be sure signal is clear.

7. During the service suspend every other activities at home no cooking, television, browsing, WhatsApp, etc.

8. When the message is going on, always open your bible to read the quoted reference by the pastor no matter how familiar you are to the passage.

9. After the message spend time to pray.

NB: service at home is not less important, value or edifying, it all depends on your attitude. The power of God is not tie down or restricted to our regular physical church building/location

Hello Nairalanders, please I need advise in investing my money. I have some money, about 2,750,000 naira I would love to investing for a 6months duration (till October).
I have done researchs about treasury bill and fixed deposit ,but i can't decide on which to go with. Treasury bill are currently at an interest rate of 3.2% but I don know of interest of bank. I would love to get an interest of 10% for a 6months duration, I don know if that would realistic in our current economy.
Please if could get advice on the best rate I could get on my cash ( #2,750,000) be it treasury bill, fixed deposit or any, I would really appreciate it. ....... Also I would love to know if anyone could confirm if " WEALTH.NG" is real as I saw and intrest of 10% on a 180day treasury bill investment. Thanks in advance...!!!!
VGIF managed by investment one former GTBank Asset Management is your best bet. The interest currently at 8.5% and your principal is guaranteed. check my signature for contact and link to open account at the comfort of your home.

what do u think abt mutual funds that invest in stocks?
if they're good, do u have any suggestions?
Equity based funds is more or less investing in stocks directly. Whatever state the NSE is ie bearish or Bullish affects d funds directly. At this time d best bet is to buy the stocks directly since the risk will be bear by you either way.

It's your mention that just drew my attention to it. Not out to discredit any institution but state my fact as it affects me. Let me edit it.
No worries my brother. I know you are relating your experience. Me too just trying to throw more light on balance and equity based funds generally. these funds behaviors are not really institution based it's based on the under laying assets. Basically they behave same way whether with investment one, ucap, fbn or any other institution.

Which of the financial institutions did you make this Eurobond investment please? I have only encountered this in investment one's balanced fund that I tried this year. Was going to do save N50,000 monthly in that balanced but had a change of mind when the first N50,000 I invested began to reduce. Before the next month I was to deposit the N50,000 the deposit I made was already remaining about N43,300 so I had to jejely withdraw and send it to my stock acct...
All balance funds or equity base funds don't guarantee capital. Whenever the NSE is down they are always negatively impacted no matter who the fund managers is. Let's be well guided.

Though I'm not with ARM Investment, fund managers operation are similar across board . I'm sure you will be credited. From your explanation the transaction is posted already. Your account will be credited. Though most fund managers credit clients account within 24hrs but the usual official period of redemption as it's always stated on the facts of the fund is 3 working days. However, you can called them on 01 271 5000 to know exactly the position of things.

Hello wise ones I greet u all.

I have about 20 million naira which is a combination of both principal and interest from repeated investment in treasury bill during the gud old days until rates went dust. Since then I’ve refused to put it in again.

With the current economic down turn of the country with this corona virus, how do you suggest I invest this money to be sure I ride above inflation?

This fund is for zero risk investments so it can’t go into real estate or business.

Initially, I wanted to lock it down in a 10 to 30 years fgn bond at 14.85%. This bond was announced early January. I’ve discussed with Stanbic stockbrokers and they’ve opened my cscs account, and insisted I can only buy from secondary market (at 11% to 13%) since minimum amount for primary is 50 million.

However, suddenly I’ve even lost faith in this federal government. Naira is on free fall, federal government so broke that its wants to deep hands into pension funds to build infrastructure and borrowing Nigeria to death.

I need help and suggestions of how to invest this. As well as Eurobonds with good rates. If you were in my shoes, what will u do? Thank you.
For me as an individual if I have such money I will invest as follows:
65% dollar-based fund
20% guaranteed income fund - VGIF
15% shared between GTBank and Zenith Bank shares at the current market prices
However if the money must be strictly fixed income base investment. I simply do dollar 80% and VGIF 20%
With the present economic situation, investors should pick investment windows that are flexible ie easy entry and exit without loss.

Hello Guys,

Is our mutual funds safe with the present corona virus issue in Nigeria. Hope we won't lose our investment.

Cryptocurrency have dropped and lost it value already.
It depends on the category of mutual fund you invested in. If it's equity based or balanced fund you can lose your money but if it's money market, fixed income or guaranteed income funds, your interest can only reduce, your capital is safe.

Please understand though VGIF is a mutual fund but it's not Money market fund. I suggested it base on his question. For your information money market fund minimum capital is not pegged at 5k. Different fund managers has their different minimum. Abacus money market fund for example has 1k as its minimum. Let's be well guided.

At this crucial and delicate investment cycle and always; you will do yourself much good and saved yourself of great financial loss by:
1. Not investing just by hearsay or with others opinion alone without your due diligence
2. Making sure you don’t lack understanding of the investment product you want to venture into
3. Not relying only on past performance of a particular investment window – past performance is no guarantee of future results
4. Don’t follow the crowd. Investment is not by popular opinion, it’s based on facts, figures and economic realities
5. Be realistic
6. Take calculated risk to avoid casualties
7. Beware of get rich quick syndrome – investment is not a destination it’s a journey
8. Think of the safety of funds first before interest, gains or returns.
9. Get a mentor
10. Have your own strategy base on your investment objectives and follow it religiously until you have a better option.
