Bruh, certain conditions have to come to play before something happens. You can't just see the video and assume it was cos of the phone.
It could've been a coincidence that when he took the phone something else happened that triggered the explosion.
This theory has been tested over and over again and nothing happened.
Maybe his phone had underlying issue that caused it.

I don't know the facts, I'm just as clueless as y'all but from the little i know that's the explanation, we should just be careful.
I myself have used my phone numerous times in fuel stations. Even the attendant's working there use there phones to kill time. Why didn't anything happen.

Nigeria pays the least for sub with DStv. And dstv has over 60% active subscriber base in south africa, with nigeria over 10%.
The profit margins shows nigeria with it's more population generates 100% less of revenue compared to RSA.

It could be the phone or her body that caused it, unfortunately we don't have investigators in nigeria that check this things.
I'm not in support of the theory that phones cause sparks that trigger an explosion. I'm talking based on nigerians that choose to believe it to be at the side of caution.
I believe it's static electricity or a faulty metal body phone that passes current to the body. Phones signal isn't strong enough to do it.
Experts have experimented on this things over and over again and still nothing happened but the fear had already been established thats why uptill today fuel stations would tell you to off devices and engine.
There are small electric zaps in your skin that you can't feel so it's always advisable to discharge those volts from your body buy simply touching metal to transfer the volts from you to it before handling flammable gas/liquid.

The cause wasn't the phone but carelessness.

It seems the arrest of Ramon Abbas aka "Hushpuppi" seems to reawaken everyone to the existence of Internet Fraud, but the truth is that it has always been with us, and would always be here if we keep waiting for just EFCC to put a stop to it.

What have you done to combat crime in our society??

internet fraud (Yahoo-yahoo, G-boys), ponzi or other types of fraud have become a very common event in our daily lives. We tend to know or have heard of people that engage in these events, but we keep quiet about it, for one reason or the other, maybe because they are our friends or family.

How many of Our friends who are into Internet Fraud (G-boys), whether they have hit or not, have you reported to the Police or EFCC??

we tend to forget that, "It is these same individuals (G-boys), who engage in all these acts of fraud, & hit it big tomorrow that would use those money to contest for election with well-meaning individuals like yourself and win you, because you do not have enough money to spend like them, regardless of what your motives or plans are.

After they win and get there, they'd continue their G-boys on a political level, with their looting, and then you'd come on Nairaland or twitter to complain.

Just imagine Hushpuppi was to run for senate tomorrow, who would win Him with all the money he has to spend??

Also on other other side, most youths and young persons, students, etc that go onto cyber-crime is due to "Peer Pressure/Influence". if you see someone you know from Adam, who is just at your level or maybe you are even better than the person, all of a sudden, riding big cars, and buying houses for himself or his parents, you'd start thinking about why you cannot achieve the same, and then you'd be ready to do whatever it takes to do that, however legal or illegal.
You will then encourage yourself with the fact that many people are doing it, and that there is corruption everywhere.

The monicker deadrat(now iamplato) tried to scam people of their hard earned money, by misleading the general public. He claimed his brother had an accident, how they have exhausted all the money in their reach treating him. They needed #70,000 to complete the scan. His friends here started telling us how he is a good guy indirectly trying to divert our attention from his scam. The fake guy resulted to insult when people asked him for a proof to be sure he is really in need as explained. Meanwhile, the thread was created in Politics Section with the monicker augustinablack and his dubious thread even made fp until the mods realized it was all means to defraud people..

This happened sometime early 2018..

The particular thread that he created to scam people and was subsequently busted has been deleted by the mods though.

I disagree with you, especially about allowing a number of users to determine what post should be taking down. The reason is that Nigerians are very different people, what maybe tribal to a Yoruba can be inoffensive to an Igbo man. What can be offensive to an Hausa man can be mild to an Ogoni man. I use myself as an example, I comment a lot about Biafra but there are certain people in Nigeria who find any mention of Biafra to be tribal, offensive and unpatriotic. But most Igbos like me do not see it that way.

I think that best thing is to let the mods do their job and hope that NL has done a good job of selecting mods who are not biased. Thats my cents

I've come to notice some activities perpetuated by people who just registered on this platform within days or a week.
They post obscene photos, tribal comments or posts that are hurtful with the idea that since it's a new account even if it gets banned they won't feel it.

I belong to other forums that i think has features that should be incorporated into this forum for sanity sake.
1.upvotes : the relevance of a comment determines it's position, post with less relevance or marked indecent go down and we know people rarely read comments to last page often.

2. Time frame:
I registered on a forum years ago and couldn't post videos or pictures, comment on certain threads etc because i was new to the forum so all those features i was restricted from untill i fullfiled certain conditions which included number of likes or upvotes on my comments, the number of days I've been active on the platform etc.
I believe the ability for a user on this forum to do anything should depend on their rep,
Why am i saying this,
I was with my kid sister going through news and while scrolling i came across a pornographic photo and the user was just registered last night.

I believe we the users should be the ones handling the option to delete a users comment, lets say if 15 people mark your comment offensive it immidiately gets deleted, we don't have to wait for the mods to do simple things like this as we are the ones suffering from such obscene things.
Even misleading posts should follow this same criteria where if marked as misleading by 20 people it gets deleted this will help curb the nonsense habits of bloggers clickbaiting us.
And as for the tribalist we have here that take pleasure in insulting other people's tribe or persona they should be given bans immidiately, even if they decide to create new accounts to do what they do they time and effort it'll take them to be able to do such wouldn't be worth it.

Also a users profile should include the number of times they've been banned and a brief summary of why they where banned and other cases against such user filed by another user. This was before you do any financial transaction with anyone you should be able to ascertain how responsible they are.

I also understand sometimes some genuine people need to tell genuine stories anonymously, stories that we all benefits from,. Request should be made to Mods informing them of the anonymous post they want to post .
The mods will now grant or reject such request if accepted they would then grant the user permission for such. In this situation the mods end up having identity of the user wich isn't ideal so any other corrections or recommendation should be made in the comments concerning the anonymous post.

If this things are implemented we will have a clean nairaland thanks.

This particular graphics you see here was certainly done in adobe Photoshop. I don't think you can do it on the phone because whosoever did this particular one just did the write up and logo then placed it on a mock-up that gave it that look.
