One of the stars of Jenifa’s diary Olayode Juliana popularly known as Toyosi in the series has responded to the alleged beef the media says she has with her sponsor Funke Akindele.


The news became viral that the actresses had a disagreement that led to the departure of Toyosi on the comic series which gave her fame. In her response, Olayode says she feels unhappy that many have insulted her for biting the fingers that fed her without hearing anything from her or even confirming the authenticity of the Story.

“I will never unfollow Aunty Funke Akindele, my career is nothing without her, I hold her in high esteem and I will always talk about her” she explained.

On why she no longer appears on the series, Toyosi says that it is normal for characters to come and go in series, but that doesn’t mean my relationship with scene One Productions has ended. She said.

Angry youths at the residence of late senator Isiaka Adeleke in Ede, Osun state, on Sunday attacked Tope Alabi, a correspondent of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA).


Adeleke died in the early hours of Sunday at a private hospital in Osogbo after succumbing to a protracted ailment.

The late politician popularly called “Serubawon” was aged 62.

The NTA reporter, who was at the residence of the late politician with a photojournalist, was attacked by the youths for recording the faces of sympathisers.

The youths, who alleged that the late senator was poisoned, opposed video coverage of the event.

Alabi was assaulted on the head and was taken to Osogbo for treatment while the photojournalist escaped to a nearby bush.

Security had, however, been beefed up at the residence as family members and friends awaited the burial of the late politician.

An armoured personnel carrier (APC) was stationed very close to Adeleke’s house while a police vehicle was sighted patrolling the town.

A NAN correspondent at the residence reports that the corpse of the late senator was brought to his residence in Ede at about 1:10pm from Biket Hospital in Osogbo.

It was, however, later taken to Ladoke Akintola Teaching hospital in Osogbo for an autopsy as family members insisted on ascertaining the cause of death.

As at the time of filing this report, no family member was willing to speak with journalists.

Meanwhile, Kunle Oyatomi, the publicity secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun, has expressed shock over Adeleke’s death.

Oyatomi, in a telephone interview with NAN, said the late senator would be greatly missed.

He described Adeleke as one of the best governors the state ever had, adding that he was greatly loved by all.

Kemen was disqualified from the reality show after being alleged to have fondled TBoss without seeking her consent.

Speaking with Saturday Scoop, Kemen said the organisers of the Big Brother Naija show know more about the incident than most Nigerians.

He recounted: “On that night, I slept before Tboss and I used the duvet that was on the bed to cover myself. When Tboss came to bed, she used the other duvet. When I wanted to go back to sleep, I attempted to cuddle her. In the course of doing that, I had to lift the duvet that was between us.

“My hand movement that was seen on camera was me trying to make way through the duvet and get close to her. She woke up immediately I wrapped my hands around her; opened the duvet and adjusted her body so she could move closer to me. And that was where the video stopped. Tboss always slept in a three-quarter short and a spaghetti top which she used as a nightgown.

“She is not a deep sleeper. She also has the highest stack of alcohol in her cupboard because she rarely drinks. On the night of the incident, I was not drunk, and I don’t think she was too, even though I cannot speak for her.”

The fitness expert says he has chosen not to be weighed down by the controversy, adding that “I have put everything that happened behind me”.

Veteran Nollywood actor, Olumide Bakare is dead. The veteran actor passed on in the early hours of Saturday according to his personal assistant.


According to a family member “His situation however gone bad during the procedure and he could not make it. So he died”, a close family source, Abiodun Alarape, Bakare, it was learnt was rushed to UCH on January 24, after suffering cardiac arrest.

His condition was however said to have improved, until he went in for the procedure and failed to make it out alive.
His death which came as a rude shock to his numerous fans globally while most of them still find it difficult to believe.

The academic union also asked the Minister of Education, Mallam Adamu Adamu to call the registrar to order to lessen the difficulty being experienced by the candidates. Dr Omole said the board had outlived its usefulness and the best thing is to scrap it and allow universities design their standard examination for their own candidates.

Scientists have created a device capable of extracting water from the air especially at low humidity levels, using solar power and low-grade heat from natural sunlight.


According to the findings of the report published in the Journal of Science by the researchers at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and the University of California, Berkeley, the device is capable of harvesting 2.8 litres of water per kilogram of MOF daily at relative humidity levels as low as 20 per cent and requires no additional input of energy.

The report also disclosed that the device could one day provide “personalized water” to those in areas affected by chronic drought.

Researchers have identified a new type of cells in the body where HIV persists despite treatment, revealing a novel target for developing therapeutic intervention.


HIV cure research to date has focused on clearing the virus from T cells, a type of white blood cell that is an essential part of the immune system. The new research, published in the journal Nature Medicine, showed that the virus can persist in HIV-infected macrophages.

Macrophages are large white blood cells found in tissues throughout the body including the liver, lung, bone marrow and brain. “These results are paradigm changing because they demonstrate that cells other than T cells can serve as a reservoir for HIV,” said lead author Jenna Honeycutt from University of North Carolina School of Medicine in the US.

“The fact that HIV-infected macrophages can persist means that any possible therapeutic intervention to eradicate HIV might have to target two very different types of cells,” Honeycutt said. Macrophages are myeloid lineage cells that have been implicated in HIV pathogenesis and in the trafficking of virus into the brain.

For the experiment, the researchers used a humanised myeloid-only mouse (MoM) model devoid of T cells.“This is the first report demonstrating that tissue macrophages can be infected and that they respond to antiretroviral therapy,” Honeycutt said.

“In addition, we show that productively infected macrophages can persist despite ART (antiretroviral therapy); and most importantly, that they can reinitiate and sustain infection upon therapy interruption even in the absence of T cells — the major target of HIV infection,” Honeycutt added.

The rsearchers said they next want to find out where in the body persistently infected macrophages reside during HIV treatment and how macrophages respond to possible therapeutic interventions aimed at eradicating HIV from the body.

Activists have dragged Uganda Communications Commission (UCC) to the High Court, challenging the ongoing SIM card subscriber verification process.

Petitioner Norman Tumuhimbise and Rights Trumpet Ltd dragged UCC to the civil division of the High Court through Niwagaba and Mwebesa Advocates today.

Court is slated to hear the interim application on Wednesday in which the petitioners are seeking to temporarily block UCC from continuing with the process.

On April 12, UCC issued a seven-day ultimatum within which all subscribers of telecom services have to update their SIM card details using only their national identification card.

Following a meeting with various telecom companies, UCC warned that all SIM cards whose details are not updated and verified by service providers before Thursday would be deactivated.

But according to the petitioners, it was unfair and unconstitutional for UCC to restrict citizens to using only national IDs for registration yet there are other official documents like passports which foreign nationals were allowed to use for the exercise.

In their main suit, the activists want court to set aside and declare as invalid UCC’s decision.

A tip came in shortly after 11am Tuesday that a car matching the description of Steve Stephens’ white Ford Fusion was parked outside a McDonald’s near Erie, Pennsylvania, Cleveland, Ohio Police Chief Calvin Williams said at a press conference.

When cops responded to the fast food restaurant, Stephens got in his car and fled the scene.

A short pursuit ensued, but eventually cops cornered Stephens on a stretch of Buffalo Road, near a old elementary school, where he came to a stop.

Officers were walking over to arrest Stephens when he shot himself inside his vehicle around 11:10am.

As part of efforts to give back to its host community, the Nigerian Navy Shipyard (NNS) pathfinder has extended free medical services to residents of Mgbu-Edohia Community in Obio Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers state.

Over 300 men, women and children, including the elderly were seen at the venue of the exercise attended by the Naval medical staff.

Some of the free health services to the people include consultation and treatment, eye check with free glasses, basic laboratory investigation and immunisation.

The medical officer of the Naval Medical Centre, Surgeon Lieutenant Commander, Chijoke Ogu said the Navy is appreciative of the cooperation of the community.

“We are here today to interact and give back to the community, our host community. For over the years, they have harboured us, shown us hospitality, so today, we are here to appreciate the community.

“We have five doctors on ground who will attend to their vital signs, and take their samples to the lab for further investigation and treatment. We have a section for immunisation for children and eye care for the elderly”, he said.

The King of Mgbu-Odohia Community, Amadi-Ekwena, who also benefited from the eye check and free glasses service expressed gladness for the exercise.

“On behalf of the entire Council of Chiefs of Mgbu-Odohia, one of the communities in Rumuelumeni, we are grateful for this programme, and we hope that it will continue, so you people can check on how we are doing.”

The Navy further said that the free medical service to the community and other communities will be an annual exercise.
