EducationWe Are Yet To Fix 2017 Jamb Cut-off Marks - Jamb Tells Candidates by Emmyloaded(op):
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has recently revealed that it is yet to fix the 2017 cut off marks for admission.

This was made known in a statement by the JAMB Head of Media, Dr. Fabian Benjamin, he said that the fixing of the cut-off marks decision is yet to be taken, and “is only done at a policy committee meeting with all stakeholders and is chaired by the Minister of Education.”

The examination board also urged candidates to disregard the figures being circulated on the social media. Also, the body has announced that it has commenced the sale of direct entry application form for candidates with A-level results, who are seeking direct admission into degree programmes.

The statement added that JAMB has started the sale of Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) application for Nigerians abroad and foreign candidates who desire to attend tertiary institutions in the country.

The statement reads: “The process is as it was with the UTME, where you create a profile, obtain the PIN and proceed for biometric capturing at the Computer-Based (CBT) centres for direct entry candidates.

“We urge all candidates wishing to register through direct entry to obtain the PIN at Interswitch, Remita or any of the commercial banks earlier approved for the vending of UTME PINS.

The board has also explained that it has not opened its portals for the change of course and institution. “We will soon begin and when we do start, the changes will be done in all approved CBT centres nationwide. Candidates need not necessarily come to the board’s centres for the change. It can be done in any of the centres.

“This is to avoid overcrowding our offices for services that can be obtained at the utmost comfort by the candidates. The delay has been occasioned by the board’s preparation to ensure that the system is smooth and without encumbrances,” the statement added.

JAMB urged the public to note that every candidate desirous of a change of course or institution would be allowed to do so, as the platform will be opened until the close of admission.

It urged candidates not to be desperate or panic, as the process will not be closed as being speculated by those who want to use the opportunity to defraud them. It warned candidates against patronising fraudsters who claim to have the capacity to inflate their scores, urging them to visit the centres and cross check any information that is not clear to them.

Foreign AffairsGermany Approves Gay Marriage By Mps In Snap Vote (photos) by Emmyloaded(op):
A clear majority of German MPs have voted to legalise same-sex marriage, days after Chancellor Angela Merkel dropped her opposition to a vote.

The reform grants couples now limited to civil unions full marital rights, and allows them to adopt children.

Mrs Merkel's political opponents were strongly in favour. But the chancellor, who signalled her backing for a free vote only on Monday, voted against.

The bill was backed by 393 lawmakers, 226 voted against and four abstained.

The German legal code will now read: "Marriage is entered into for life by two people of different or the same sex", AFP news agency reported.

Following Friday's vote, Mrs Merkel said that for her marriage was between a man and a woman. But she said she hoped the passing of the bill would lead to more "social cohesion and peace".

Origin of the vote

During her 2013 election campaign, Mrs Merkel argued against gay marriage on the grounds of "children's welfare," and admitted that she had a "hard time" with the issue.

But in an on-stage interview with the women's magazine Brigitte on 26 June, she shocked the German media by saying, in response to an audience member's question, that she had noted other parties' support for gay marriage, and would allow a free vote at an unspecified time in the future.

The usually-cautious chancellor said she had had a "life-changing experience" in her home constituency, where she had dinner with a lesbian couple who cared for eight foster children together.

As the news spread on Twitter, supporters rallied under the hashtag #EheFuerAlle (MarriageForAll) - and started calling for a vote as soon as possible.

Mrs Merkel's current coalition partners - the centre-left Social Democrats (SPD), who are trailing Mrs Merkel's Christian Democrats (CDU) in opinion polls - then seized the political initiative.

They called for a vote by the time parliament went into summer recess at the end of the week - prompting Mrs Merkel to complain she'd been "ambushed".

NYSCSee Reasons Why NYSC 2017 Batch A Stream II Camping Date Is Delayed by Emmyloaded(op):
NYSC 2017 Batch A Stream II Camping Date - As you can see, most of the NYSC batch A stream II are tired of staying at home. So many are prepard and can't wait to hear that NYSC has released a date for camping.

But you need this article to know the main reasons why there are delay in announcing the date for the NYSC 2017 Batch A Stream II orientation camp.

The Reasons Why there is No official Date yet for NYSC 2017 Batch A Stream II orientation camp is a list of some factors which might have been the cause of the delay in announcing the official date for camping.

Everyday, we receive numerous mails, comments, calls and text messages from prospective corp members.

Messages like:

1. NYSC should be scrapped!
2. NYSC has outlived its relevance!
3. I hate this country!
4. We are tired of waiting!
5. What is the Next Step?
6. Do we still have hope?
7. What is the way forward?

It’s a normal thing and we really appreciate you for expressing yourselves.

Some corpers has also made some calls to the Director General, some state coordinators, LIs and several officials seeking to know the official date for the 2017 NYSC orientation camp.

The only answers they get back is that they are still making preparation and that NYSC will announce the date for NYSC 2017 Batch A stream II Orientation camp very soon.

So for now, there is no official date for NYSC 2017 Batch A Stream II NYSC orientation camp…

Wait, don’t leave yet read the reasons why NYSC 2017 Batch A Stream II orientation camp has not been announced.

Reasons Why NYSC 2017 Batch A Stream II Camping Date is Delayed

1. Logistics Reasons

One of the 7 Possible Reasons Why NYSC 2017 Batch A Stream II Camping Date is Delayed might be because of logistics.
Gone are those days, when there are no Batch B or Batch C or Stream I & II. All qualified graduates were mobilized once to serve their father land. However, as population increases, numbers of accredited Higher Institutions grows. The facilities at various orientation camps across Nigeria can no longer hold the populations, then the need for Batches and streams arose.

During the just concluded Stream I orientation camp, several Corp members slept outside at Lagos Camp. Imagine if there are no streams, the 3 weeks will be unbearable because each camp will be over crowded, uncontrollable and filled with sufferings.
NYSC might be delaying the date to make you guys comfortable.

2. Lack Of Fund

Another possible reason might be lack of fund. Money runs everything. I am not really good at mathematics, but let me show you a little calculation.

The NYSC scheme mobilized around 300, 000 Prospective corp members this year. To remind you, 2016 Batch B Stream I & II are still on ground. Let us assume that 2016 Batch B Stream I and II are 200, 000 Corp members (a rough idea) and NYSC is paying them 20, 800 every months. You say its 19, 800? NYSC pays 20k, the banks will remove 200 from each person’s making 19, 800

200, 000 x 20, 000 = 4 000 000 000 (#4 Billion) every month. Now calculate it for 11 months and drop the answer in the comment below. That’s just for Batch Stream I & II.

Wait….. I know the country is capable, that’s why the programme existed. I know our leaders have more money than NYSC can ever spend, I know Billions of naira every months for Graduates is not too much for the country to handle and I know that Nigeria is very rich.

3. Better Preparation

On June 12 2017, Hoodlums Attack NYSC Camp In Niger, Cart Away Valuables. Which was really a shame on the NYSC body. An orientation camp that is well guarded by highly professionally trained armed Nigerian Soldiers could easily be broken by mattress and hungry thieves is really very funny.

However, it was later made clear that it happened because the camp in question is not a Permanent orientation camp. Am sure such would never happen in a permanent orientation camp. Nobody will be happy to serve his/her father land scared. The NYSC might want to prepare very well for several contingencies.

4. Request For More Personnel

The bigger the numbers of Prospective corp members, the bigger the quantities of officials and personnel to handle and controls things. I guess NYSC needs more hands to create orderliness.

5. NYSC Approval Board

There is a board for approval of things. Although NYSC is under the Military force of Nigeria and you know in Military, order is the order of the day. However, there is a committee that needed to approve a date. The committee might be delaying the approval for any of those reasons above or more.

6. The President is sick

This cannot be one of the 7 Possible Reasons Why NYSC 2017 Batch A Stream II Camping Date is Delayed orientation camp. In fact, this would be the dumbest reason ever for anything to be cancel, you think..
Remember this is Nigeria, when our Father, the president is sick, then the country is ……….

7. Fasting

I just added this. The Muslim fasting is through already. So if this is the reason why the 2017 Batch A stream II has been delayed, then we should get the date very soon.

To The NYSC, I will say delay is dangerous, an idle hand is the devil workshop. Please let our people go.

To The Prospective Corp Members, I will say please give a little more calm. You will go for NYSC very soon. Many officials will dance ‘koko below’ if NYSC is scrapped. So relax and calm down, the system is still very up and running.

Chief Hon. Dumo Lulu Briggs a top business man and an alumina of UNN donated a two story building to the department of geology in the university of Nssuka in Enugu state.

The most encouraging part is that this project has no political correlation because it was cited in an area were only presidential ambition (which we no is not part of his consideration or contemplation) of a Rivers man like Dumo and nothing more can be said to favour him since he is not from Enugu state on the 28th day of June, 2017

It is beyond imagination that during this time of recession were even the state and federal governments are not been able to pay salaries of its workers, that Chief Dumo Lulu Briggs surprised the world by embarking on this type of project even when he is not holding any government position.

By all standards, it is evident that Chief Dumo Lulu Briggs is really a philanthropist who believe's more on the welfare of others and not self first.

FamilyMan United Manager Jose Mourinho Helps Carry The Coffin Of His Father (photos) by Emmyloaded(op):
Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho helps carry the coffin of his father as his wife and children join him at funeral in Portugal.

Jose Mourinho said an emotional goodbye to his father Felix on Tuesday morning as he attended his funeral in Setubal, Portugal.
The Manchester United manager confirmed that his father had passed away on Sunday evening at the age of 79 after suffering with ill health for several months.

Mourinho, who helped carry the coffin into the church, was joined by wife Matilde, daughter Matilde, son Jose Jnr and United assistant coach Silvino Louro for the service.

A large crowd gathered outside the venue as Mourinho helped remove the coffin from the hearse before draping a large flag over it.

As a footballer, Mourinho Felix played first for Vitoria Setubal and then for Belenenses, making 274 appearances in the Portuguese league between 1955 and 1974.

He achieved one international cap for Portugal, appearing as a late substitute in a match against the Republic of Ireland in the 1972 Brazil Independence Cup.

After hanging up his gloves, Mourinho Felix became a coach with a number of Portuguese clubs including Uniao Leiria, Amora, Rio Ave, Belenenses and Vitoria.

Belenenses confirmed the news of his death in a statement which read: 'Os Belenenses CF have been made aware of the passing of Jose Manuel Mourinho Felix, club goalkeeper from 1968 until 1974, team coach in the 1970-71 and 1982-83 campaigns, and a much loved figure at the club.

'During this difficult time, the Belenense family and Os Belenenses CF sends its warmest condolences to his family, especially his wife and son, Jose Mourinho.'
