Sweet T:Everybody let's give this almost American guy a standing ovation . ![]() I bet you don't know that no television program is produced and aired without a script . And no producer will do an uninteresting show, so the script must be made as interesting and sensational as possible so that advertisers will buy it , and the station will make more money. If you don't know , keep your mouth shut and go drink more liquor to "pa'ronu re" like many frustrated immigrant do when they have completely lost their bearing and life purpose . Clearly you do not understand the point of the argument we are pursuing on this discussion, and you chose instead to get sentimental about the security of your tenure in a country where your demand will always take second priority to that of the natural citizens. You have again confirmed my early fear about yourself sir - a buffoon you are . Your fears will catch up with you sooner or later and you will yourself be "deported" , with nothing to show for your long years except a small American flag which you will go purchase at Oshodi for N100 and continue to wave all over Lagos till they finally lock you up inside Aro Mental Hospital for ever. ![]() Have you ever met Wole Soyinka ? Have you ever heard him make general remarks about "Nigerians" ? I doubt if you can ever come to terms with what Wole Soyinka writes , not to talk of you understanding how he thinks. You are clearly an illiterate trying to impress on this forum. The sad thing is that every post you make further exposes your ignorance. As my son will say, you are whacked , man !! |
You are missing the point : which is to acknowledge that crime is a universal phenomenon and not that Nigerians are a special breed of people that God created for criminal purposes. Less than half a century ago blacks living in the US have faced the same problem - and it was assumed that once you are a black person you are either a thief or a drug user . And so you are most often automatically excluded from responsible social positions. Let us not associate with this negative image. It will not help us or our children. I lived and worked in the UK for almost 15years because I initially had the impression that "home is where you find happiness". We even hold British passports. But soon you come to realise that "home is where you find acceptability" . There will come a time in your life when you will be made to realise that "look man , this is not your country" and your children's opportunities will always be limited by that suggestion. at any rate, which of all the social vices and crimes that we run away from when we leave Nigeria don't we find more plentiful abroad ? frorgery, fraud, armed robbery, car-jacking, burglary, embezzlement , unemployment, etc . I tell you as a matter of fact that it is easier to get a GOOD job in Nigeria than in the UK. It may not be a lot better in the USA except you are in the medical profession, teaching , engineering or software development. I know of lawyers (not even Nigerian) cooking pizza in USA to make ends meet. I have seen Americans living in worse conditions than Mushin , and of course in the sort of poverty that is even unimaginable in Nigeria. Yes, there are extremely poor people in US and UK too. Of course if this does not bother you, by all means live wherever you like : it's a free world. I know of thousands of Nigerians doing crazy menial work abroad and barely making a living but cannot return home because of the shame of not accomplishing anything after so many years of self-deceit. On the day I came back home finally I realised that I had been many years living in bondage and thinking that I am enjoying life. If we can fix NEPA (sorry I am still unable to get used to PHCN) problems, and fix transportation problems , I assure you Nigeria will be one of the best places in the world to live in. |
winnteam:It is not necessary, and might in fact be a nuisance. However by all means do it if you are outside Nigeria, if it makes you feel good. There are other ways to fly the flags: Fly the flag with your response when people say bad things about your country. Be EXTREMELY patriotic. Fly the flag with a positive confession for your country when you wake up in the morning Fly the flag by writing letters to your governors (or organising pressure groups which will write letters to your governor) when you see things are not going as it should. Sue him to court if necessary . Get Gani, Falana, etc , or even some other young idealistic lawyer to do it . Fly the flag by writing letters to chief executives of companies who constitute environmental nuisance. Organise pressure groups and sue them to court if necessary. Keep positive , keep positive, keep positive about Nigeria every minute of the day . It is your only hope and the only hope of your children . DON'T LET IT ESCAPE !! Anyone wants to correspond with me over this write me at mail at websesame dot com |
As we were saying before the nincompoop took over . This is what the original poster wrote : I will tell you the one about the Nigerian 419 scam . Do you know that this fraud started more than 400 years ago and it was then known as The Spanish Prisoner trick ? Now it has been put on Nigeria and our government officials just nod their head in agreement like zombies. The Questions asked are : 1. How did a 400 year old Spanish Prisoner Trick suddenly become "Nigerian 419 scam" .? Answer : It is because people with a slave mentality "like you-know-whom" have accepted it as their lot in life to be known as scammers. 2. the poster said " I have been scammed several times and nobody made any noise over it even though I thought I was doing straightforward business transaction such as purchase of a product . I have been scammed by European, American, Asian persons and all I could say is that I will make sure it doesn't happen again, but when a Nigerian is caught out it becomes headline news worldwide. " Answer: It is because bootlickers "like you-know-whom" will make sure that the entire world knows about it primarily to selfishly exonerate selves. 3. the poster said "What bothers me is our government not man enough to stand up for our country's name and defend it." Answer : It is because sad sack Nigerians "like you-know-whom" living outside the country have accepted anyway that no good can ever come of the country (including themselves) - and will strive to destroy whatever credibility that is being attempted . Evil people prefer to advise from a distance rather than playing a part in solving problems. I apologise though for assuming that everybody is able or willing or even mentally competent to make any positive contributions to building a better country. Sorry folks ,do get on with your lives the way you like it. @Akede-oba over to you sir |
Sweet T:This guy is a proper twit . As far as he is concerned, the only reason why people return home is because they are deported. I can see where your real fears are. Happy slaving !! ![]() |
Sweet T:I worked in the UK for 15 years as an IT consultant , and I still get consulted even from my house in Lagos. They respect me, and don't treat me like some cleaner / security guard in a security company looking at secret files while others have closed and gone home. If idiots outside the country could rise up for their country with dignity it would do a lot of us a lot of good. As a matter of fact I stand to be corrected that it is not only Nigerian doctors that get arrested for Medicare offenses. This is not to take side with illegality; just stating the facts. So how does that become a Nigerian problem ? |
Sweet T: ![]() Oyinbo don put shit for him mouth he no go gree us rest again. Even common English grammar he no sabi write , come talk say him dey work for president. president of which company in texas abi where them carry you go do slave now. I sorry for una. Na there you go die , money to carry you back home self maybe you no go get ![]() Now let's take a brief lesson in English (or American) grammar the word is "writing" not "writting" the word is "rot" not "rut" the expression is "idiots that should rot" not "idiots that suppose to rut" " since you are so fascinated by the work of fictions than fact, i refuse to argue with novice" Chei , this man done destroy mama charlie finish . Now who is the @sswipe ? |
Sweet T:- So you are a security guard ? Big deal. ![]() - 8 in 10 Nigerians getting arrested for wire fraud ? From my simple arithmetic (if you know any at all) , you should have arrested more than 100 million Nigerians so far; right ? You appear to be an slowpoke, sir : this is not an insult, it is a fact. Uncle Bola Ige of blessed memory would have found a more befitting word to describe you. |
Sweet T:Most Nigerians are very greedy ? Well, your census crew never came knocking at my door !! Do the most Nigerians include you , or have you conveniently exonerated yourself ? This is the kind of nitwit suggestions that we should be fighting against instead of abetting. I have lived and worked with as many nationalities as you can think of and I assure you that none has scored higher in honesty than any average Nigerian that I know. Most are even worse. Now where did you get your funny classifications from ? (The Chinese are known for credit card fraud, the Russian are known for casino and oil fraud, the Italians are known as mobsters and Nigerians are classified as 419ers ) .I am certainly learning this for the first time, but coming from you I think it should be discountenanced because you sir are of outstanding ignorance , and certainly the sort of people we don't need if Nigeria is to move forward anyway. PS: I have read the book. I also wish that you read it (if you are literate) , before opening your mouth to say any more nonsense. |
The problem with your proposal is the "African" issue. If you are creating one for Nigeria it seems a more feasible concept because it will be solving problems that are uniquely related to Nigeria. The reason why I say this is that not all African countries have problems with international online payment systems . Most of the Southern and Northern Africa countries do not have this problem. They do not need an "African" payment system. |

I am urgently looking for a strong PHP coder (4 or 5) who is able to work freelance on remote basis and on ad-hoc basis , though there should be fairly regular work. I am ideally looking for someone based in Lagos . Proficiency with Joomla or Drupal will be added advantage though not necessary. Extremely good coding skills is most important. I AM NOT LOOKING FOR A DREAMWEAVER JOCKEY. Please send me some information about yourself and your rates. thanks |
It is indeed a serious problem and I know how you feel. Don't expect help from your government however. They are always busy fighting a legitimacy battle. |

It all really depends on what you want to do. Joomla is quicker for some jobs , Drupal is better for community web sites , wordpress has its own special points too - and there are a lot of others in between . I always advise that you first do your specifications before trying to choose an OS CMS to implement it . This should make a difference between a web site that handles visitors well and bloatware . |
400,000 ? Where is it being taught ? What company.? Thx |
I am not quite new (a couple of months here) , but I am fascinated by this completely Nigerian forum . I will explain : Nigeria is probably the only place in the world where two persons can have an insult slinging contest lasting for more than 30 minutes (and even hours) and then each go their different way with nobody getting physically hurt. The viciousness of some replies to posting here is often very scary, but surprise nobody leaves the forum because of that which proves that Nigerian are probably the most tolerant people in the world. Nice to meet you all |
I was away from Naija for a long time , and when I came in recently it was a big surprise. The improvement in VI (especially along the shorelines) completely blew me away, and I can say that there are several parts of Lagos (never been to Abuja of Port Harcourt etc) , that any rich foreigner will sell all they have to come live in (pity about power supply though). I am compiling a photo album to show the beautiful parts of Lagos (other than the crap that the foreign press shows us) and will be delighted to receive photograph contributions from all you Nairalanders. You can post it here or mail to mail@websesame.co.uk . Never mind about the quality, I am a wizard with computer graphics. Thanks |
Strange topic but it does look rather popular . However can any of the legal eagles tell me what is difference between "removal" and "deportation" ; and under what circumstances can a person who has suffered either be permitted a visa again ? I have a HSMP neighbour who was removed for overstaying 2 years. |
I have also been there before many times. I say charge them as much as you can, and as much as they can afford to pay (and also do a great job for your porfolio) or charge them NOTHING. This way you get RESPECT. Do a GREAT job nevertheless. NEVER sell yourself cheap. If you want to, you can put what they paid in the offering later, but charge them first. |
Can I get some cost info on either please. Email me at mail [at] ensap [dot] com |
Does anyone know where I can get Digium cards in Lagos ? please email me direct |
Can anyone in Lagos with fast internet help me download a couple of large files (total about 1.4GB) for a fee urgently to CD/DVD. pls email me at mail [at] ensap [dot] com with quote. |
Depending on what you intend to do with asterisk for a pure voip solution, its as cheap as free! asterisks is an opensource platform(under a GPL lincense), meaning its free to download u can visit their site www.asterisk.orgMy question actually was about what one should expect to pay the programmer for doing the dirty job , but you have got it mixed up. Do you know anyone that sells digium cards in Naijah ? |
We no go gree o ; we no go gree We no go gree o ; we no go gree we want my2cents for moderator w no go gree |
On the contrary sir . It is a fulfilling undertaking and I have made my contributions wherever I can . Indeed I used to have a program of installing OS scripts free for non-profits and I only wish I had more time . I have more than two dozen web sites to look after on a regular basis and just can't volunteer anymore time, thank you sir. If it fulfills you go for it. ![]() |
I just dey joke sha.Bad joke. Anyone will be crazy to be fighting to take up an unpaid job I think . I can knock together a similar forum to this in less than half a day, only I will have no time to maintain it . Why should I want to maintain someone else's web site for free ? Go figure man. |
I nominate my2cents as moderator of the webmaster and programming forums. Any supporters ? ![]() |
