Webmasters › Re: Seun, The Webmasters Section Is Becoming Loathsome by emonkey(m): 10:27am On Feb 13, 2008
Problem is that when forums get too big , they tend to become quickly unmanageable especially if you have crappy Internet access like in Naija - and you are not being paid to do it anyway (google adsense rewards are notoriously paltry) .
Moral : If you're going to be able to sustain or make profit from forums best to find some solid sponsor. Just my 10 kobo.

Webmasters › Re: Web Developers Association Of Nigeria (wdan) by emonkey(m): 3:27pm On Feb 12, 2008
My most profitable jobs continue to come from USA and UK where I have been able to establish myself because there hasn't been any unprogressive web developers association to prevent me from getting jobs there , so you must see why I personally will fight such a "body" with all I've got.
Additionally i find that most people who agitate for such association are just too lazy to do anything and want jobs to come to their front door for the only reason that they belong to a bogus self-serving association and not because they are good at what they do. Soon we will be getting associations for html developers, php developers, .net developers, coldfusion developers, java developers, rubyonrails developers , etc etc , with each passionately protecting their "territorial rights".
Anyone who calls himself a web developer should be quite familiar with where and how to develop themselves - there are tons of material on the internet ; exercise your brain and go look for them yourself.

Hello Pals,
I just joined this forum yesterday. I saw this thread some days back on what isp+ posted. I wanted to know something. If everyone is against you then there must be something. I paid a payment, risking everything to know what will happen but I swear to GOD, this man is real. I already have the idea he is selling out and for real, this idea is worth it. Let us give him a break because I will say I came, saw and conquered. Make we no dey talk wetin we no too dey sure of because we fit use our mouth kill pesin wey na him fit help many even our own people survive. I will still talk about more about his idea but at the business section of this forum. I go even sell my own more there.
When I was younger my mother used to tell a proverb about the smelly man with a lot of open sores and how much flies loved him (even if nobody else did) .
I am sure you are no illiterate. Nobody here is quarrelling with your boyfriend over what he's selling. All we are saying is that he should go sell it elsewhere and stop trying to make monkeys out of all of us here. This forum is for technical topics and not bogus money making schemes.
Do you now understand ?
Webmasters › Re: Web Developers Association Of Nigeria (wdan) by emonkey(m): 5:22pm On Feb 06, 2008
WDAN = Another unnecessary distraction that can only succeed in stunting innovation.
Web Developer = By their fruit you shall know them.
Career › Re: Nigerian Engineers Are Not Competent? by emonkey(m): 5:39pm On Feb 05, 2008
I couldn't help contributing to this never-ending story since the same has been posted many decades ago ,though not in this forum.

Are Nigerian engineers incompetent ?
Yes. Given the demands that many of our modern projects place on good engineers these days, most Nigeria-based (please compare to "Nigerian"wink do not have the EXPERIENCE and SKILLS necessary to cope. For this reason alone they may be regarded as INCOMPETENT and may need to proceed to where they may learn the necessary skills (ABROAD)

Speaking as an engineer, when I got to the UK some years back I felt so INCOMPETENT because things were done differently everywhere, even though I was considered quite brilliant back home. However I invested time in developing new skills ,and by the time I left the UK most of my foreign peers at work looked absolutely incompetent compared to myself.

This problem has nothing to do with engineers. It has lot more to do with our educational system and government policy on continuing education for engineers and technologists and the quality of our society in general. I visited the University of Lagos bookshop quite recently and could not find a single useable book in engineering and computer sciences. They seemed to still stock the same books that they did a couple of decades ago while I was still a student there. I am still to find any useable technical bookshop in Lagos till today.

Yes most Nigerian engineers lack any competence that is more than they learnt in the out-of-date educational system. It is not their fault though. Blame the government, blame the lazy lecturers, blame the unprogressive bureaucracies (NSE, COREN , Computer Association of Nigeria, ITAN, etc, ). If I was president of Nigeria for a single day I know what I will dismantle.

I can almost imagine the calculation that goes on in most people's head when they hatch one of these plans:

If (just) 20 persons buy in a day @ N3000 = N60,000 per day

N60,000 per day @ 365 days in a year = N22m kuzas

Wow !! Two Lincoln Navigators at least and a new girl friend !!

I wish people will stop doing drugs or drinking bad liquor

since the phone now contain sauce and salad cream in it,
and has been fried already, u can now eat it as your lunch
What ? Fried food ? with sauce and cream ? Very fattening. Avoid it at all cost . grin grin Better to boil it (his sister had the right idea initially) , or better still eat it raw to preserve the nutrients.

if you are interested I will show you where to download the latest microwave cookbook.

Webmasters › Re: 5 Internet Businesses That Can Make You A Millionaire This 2008 by emonkey(m): 11:12am On Jan 30, 2008
I am not really concerned by what means people employ to make money on the internet. If they do well from it. I wish them a great life. I have known about "information products" for more than 20 years since I was a student and before the internet came into existence and they have remained so full of hype. The internet has only modernised the scam.

There are currently thousands of websites that promise to make you a millionaire by selling information . And almost all of them, with a few rare exceptions, do not work. They just take your money and give you a lot of worthless information that is completely useless to you.

To desperate persons looking for income by whatever means such sites are of course a source of hope. However multiple disappointment eventually turn to more despair, and quickly to crime. If only these sites realise the potential damage they are eventually doing to society.

As a web professional, I remain especially angry with one-page web sites that are set up to either extract personal and contact information or to sell bogus information . They offer no added value at all to the internet , and I think they are the online equivalent of muggers. It is actually such sites that give the internet a bad name.

Again please note that this opinion is mine , and anyone else is entitled to theirs.

Webmasters › Re: 5 Internet Businesses That Can Make You A Millionaire This 2008 by emonkey(m): 1:31pm On Jan 29, 2008
Thanks ; you just saved me N4500 !! (not that I give a monkey's piss who wins in the
"English Premiership and other football leagues across Europe"
. ) The very fact that your own system is
", So Easy I've Asked My Grand Mother To Give It A Trial!"
makes it especially suspicious. Whom did you sell 100 copies to ? Some drunk guys in a pub ? Hey, please at least try and give people the feeling that they are buying valuable information rather than something that someone's grandmother has rejected.

Thanks anyway. Now that I know that I can get whatever you are hoping to sell to me or anybody else for N4500 from the internet absolutely free of charge. If you or your friend manage to succeed as "information moguls", good luck to you. My issue with the post originally is that it is probably in the wrong forum . In the long run fortunes are never made in speculative activities , always lost

No hard feelings sir. I was under the impression that this particular forum is for programmers (i.e people of way above average intelligence) and I was just surprised to find this post. It made me look stupid so i had to reply. Like I said these are my personal impressions.
Webmasters › Re: 5 Internet Businesses That Can Make You A Millionaire This 2008 by emonkey(m): 11:44pm On Jan 28, 2008
Nice essay. You can post it on my article directory for a wider reach . The URL is www.powerpublish.co.uk .

Okay that was the nice part of my reply. The claims have no foundation and could be very misleading.
Now this is the idea, there are places where you can buy prepaid cards and resell to them for profits. This business is cool because it has really made me some good bucks of cash.
It behoofs me why you will want to share information on ideas that are making you "some good bucks" - except the good bucks is coming from selling the information. No hard feelings really.
You know that a lot of people want to loss weight, women especially, if you can get a solution for them, I bet you, you will sell to high heavens. This business I can say has really made me good money.
I really don't know why people should still choose to spend good money for such things when you can find them by Google for free. Okay I am a really dumb guy.
This Forex Trading is a good business that can not be compared to any other conventional trade of capital market, believe me if you start Forex with about $500, you will be making nothing less than $700 a day (GUARANTEED). So if any body is telling you anything contrary about the business just forget.
$700 a day on a $500 investment !?So if I invest $500,000 I make $700,000 per day ? Wow I should really get the Mafia into this. Beats dealing drugs anyday!!
Web designing is another explosive opportunity that can make you nothing less than N300, 000 a month, any web designer that is not making more than that don’t really know how to market his/her self.
I love the way you put that - "It can make ", not It "will" make . However I get the impression that you are picking your staistics from another part of the world.

You can buy a book for just $20 or less and re –edict the book, change some, word, put your name as the writer and sell to high heavens. You can set up a website as fast as possible and market this product. You will dance in money.
Problem with this is that the people that you plan to sell the book to are probably also planning to sell same to you , and the one who aren't probably are not interested grin. Now where's the money gonna come from. Looks like the only person who will be dancing will be the dude who sold you for a sucker for $20.

Cheers mate
wink

I have learnt about this opportunity and I must tell you, there is no day I don't make at least N10, 000. You can give it a trial.
Obviously that's where the N10,000 comes from - people parting with N2000 for the information you are selling. Nice racket. wink
