May Allah preserve Alhaji Sulaimon Adegunwa. I benefited from his school. His Arabic school was free. He hired qualified Ustaz. I remembered like it was yesterday. No students paid a Kobo. This was my 3rd Islamic education but my first professional Islamic studies. This was in Ososa, Ijebu where I studied figh as a minor. This was where I held my first and last Mawlud Nabi where I learned the conversion story of Sayyidina Umar ibn Khattab (ra). It was a stage play and I played "Alfa" who taught Fatima(daughter) and Saheed, son in law of Umar(ra). This play was witnessed by dignitaries including founder of the school himself, Dr. Adegunwa. During Ramadan, his workers brought fresh bananas and fruits. He treated his students with respect. How I wish those days continue. Across the street from ílè keu, Dr. Sulaimon built college of Arabic and Islamic studies and institution with extra curricular activities like soccer. My God, I played the heck out soccer back then. I can still remember all my Ustaz. The senior ones: Ustaz Murtadha, Ustaz Imam (ilorin), Ustaz Ismail (very handsome man), Ustaz Dhikrullah aka Arogunmasa . He's called by this nickname due to his physique. But Ustaz Murtadha would mocked him by calling him "árógúnsáló . Also Ustaz Badr, Ustaz Monsur (God, this man was so strict. We would take weeks before we moved on from Arabic alphabet because he wanted to make sure we had the right tarweed. He's short with full beard and light dark glasses, and he would beat the holy crap out of us if we failed tajweed).Junior ones I don't know much about them (due to my one year absence) except one I remembered, Ustaz Hakeem. This is the one who asked me and my brother how did my sheikh do it? Lol ![]() Dr. Sulaimon Adegunwa also built a duplex very close to ile keu to accommodate those Ustaz that came from distance. Basically, Ustaz Arogunmasa, Ustaz ismail and Alhaja. I don't remember Alhaja's name. When our driver came late to pick up, these Ustaz would accommodate us sometimes till night. We had dinner there. Those days was love 100%. I remembered in 1992 during lecture and a news came that Alfa agba, waliy Olohun, As-Sheikh Adam Abdullah Al-ilory (ra) passed away. They stopped classes and all Ustaz said they had to go to Lagos to pay their respect. They were his students which means I am sheikh Adam's student by proxy. I truly missed them now and I don't know where all of them are. If they are still alive, may Allah preserve them and cause us to meet again to see their boy now grown. Whoever passed to a great beyond amongst them, may Allah make their teachings and knowledge that I gained from them means of sadaqah jariyah. Amin LadunaI |

“Well, if you don’t agree with me, but I can tell you so many reasons why we are the most humorous. “A very important politician insisted, and still insists that the most important attribute for leadership is dancing, and boy he can dance! “And for those who think that that is ridiculous, at least 200,000 people voted for him in a particular election.” This VP is very wicked ![]()

rukoyah42:walaikum Salam. Welcome aboard |
Comanche:First it is optional. There is nothing wrong to ask Alfa to pray for your late relative. It is the same way when you do nikka, you invite alfa or imam. This is done worldwide. Ayah op cited in point number 2 is talking about kufar. Kufar of Mecca worshipped intermediaries just like Yoruba mushrikun do but not muslims. A muslim can ask fellow muslim to pray for his late relative. We do this everyday. It is also called tawasul. Prophet MUhammad(saw) used tawasul/intermediary of nabi Ibrahim(as) in solati Ibrahimiyah. There are also some ahadith in this regard. The problem however is, some people in nigeria take it far for worldly gains. They go to firdau to source money from family of late muslim. This is wrong. So asking alfa to pray for your late relative is not haram at all nor it is reprehensible especially if the person died within 40 days due to a hadith. Some people are questioned in the grave up to 40days. Moderation is what we need. What kind of things can be done that would benefit the dead? The scholars agree that the dead person is benefited by the good things that he initiated in his lifetime. The prophet Muhammad (S.A.W.) said: "When a son of Adam dies, his deeds cease to benefit him except three: a perpetual charity, a useful contribution to knowledge, and a good child who would pray for him." [Reported by Imam Muslim and the other six Imams] As far as the good acts by the living people that will benefit the dead person, they are as follows: Supplicating and asking for Allah's forgiveness for the dead: Allah (S.W.T.) says what can be translated as, " And those who came after them saying: 'O our Lord, forgive us and our brothers who preceded us in good faith."' [surat Al-Hashr, (verse 10)] Also, this practice of praying for the dead is from the tradition of the prophet Muhammad (S.A.W.). Note the Ayah is general. Other muslims can pray for your relatives. You can call Alfa to pray for your late relative. You should see that this is separate from the hadith which says a righteous child the deseased left pray for him. Charity The common Hadith says charity the deseased left behind will benefits him. But read this. Charity: the mother of Sa'ad Ibn Obada (R.A.) died while he was away, so he came to the prophet (S.A.W.) and said:" O messenger of Allah, my mother has died while I was away, would it benefit her if I gave charity on her behalf? He (S.A.W.) said: "Yes." Sa'ad said: "I would like you to witness that my orchard - Al-Mikhraf - is a charity on her behalf." [Reported by Imam Al-Bukhari] You see that charity was given on behalf of the deseased apart from charity deseased herself left behind. YOU CAN FAST ON BEHALF OF YOUR LATE RELATIVE Fasting: A man came to the prophet (S.A.W.) and said:" O messenger of Allah, my mother died before she made up a month's time of fasting, can I make it up for her?" he (PBUH) said:" If your mother were in debt, would you have paid the debt for her?" he said: "Yes", he (S.A.W.) said: " A debt to Allah is more worthy of being paid." [Reported by Imams Bukhari and Muslim] YOU CAN ALSO MAKE HAJJ IN BEHALF OF YOUR LATE RELATIVE Hajj: A woman from Juhaynah (a tribe) came to the prophet (S.A.W.) and said: "My mother has made (Nathr) - (a promise to Allah) - to go to Hajj, but she died before she fulfilled her "Nathr". Can I perform Hajj on her behalf? He (S.A.W.) said: "Perform Hajj on her behalf. If your mother were in debt, would you not have paid it for her? Do it (all of you) because Allah is more worthy of being paid pack." [Reported by Imam Al-Bukhari] So you can see it is not only there things that benefit the dead. You can do good deed on behalf of your late relative |
LadunaI:Amin LadunaI:this is hardest part. LadunaI:unfortunately I am not blessed with dreams. But I'm blessed with people around me who dream about me from my teenage years and it usually come to pass 80% of the time. If they had bad ones, for some reason it always turn out great. I have noticed this especially since I was in ilorin. When I said "people around me" I meant family from same father. Only one time ever a friend dreamed about me 5 yrs ago and he told me. He said good and bad dreams. The good dream can to pass just less than 2 months later. The bad dream bypassed. I saw it but good dream overshadowed. I wasted no time, I did as prescribed and by the time I finished it, at least that problem was resolved say to like 80%. Then I started another round of seven days and I can tell you that everything was resolved completely by the time I finish the second one, alhamdulilah!you just like me. I don't waste time at time. You can't imagine how hard it is hard for some to make Dua needless to say offer Rakat. Some people just find it hard. I truly appreciate our Awliya. No be small job they do at all. They struggled. They don't just pray in times of difficulties. They pray in times of ease too. |

SHEIKH MUHAMMAD NASIRU KABARA (1914 -1996) Sheikh Nasir Muhammad Al-Mukhtar Kabara, a noted Islamic scholar and philosopher was born in 1912 in Guringawa village outside Kano, Nigeria. His grandparents came from Kabara, a town under Timbuktu kingdom. His third generation grandfather— also from Kabara in Timbuktu — Mallam Omar, also known as Mallam Kabara was the only one from the lineage to settle in Adakawa in Kano city, before moving on to what is now known as Kabara ward, named after him. He was an accomplished Sufi in Timbuktu before departing for Kano. The first thing Mallam Kabara did on settling in Kabara ward was to establish a school in 1787, of a sort commonly referred as (Zaure) School where the outer entrance hall of his house was converted into an Islamic school. This school possibly among the oldest recorded schools in Kano is now part of the Darul Qadiriyya household of Sheikh Nasir Kabara. Click HERE to read more. |
Sheikh Shazili (rahimahullah ta'ala) gave lecture on current situation about Alfa in Nigeria. He talks about: * "sheikh" Jabaru who called himself "second in command" to God. * alfas who set up mudraza for worldly gains. * alfas who celebrate walimat for his unqualified students because of profits he makes from it. * those who bad mouth authentic Alfas https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1cXRVXFhmLc |

Rilwayne001:Believe me, the laws are actually there in the Constitution. They failed to enforce them on top class people. But they enforced the law on the poor. This is not justice. This is why if some people talk about enforcing Sharia law, politicians and their mumu start talking about cutting hands and legs to make it look barbaric to evade justice. What is missing are sincerity and patriotism. Unfortunately, it keeps getting worse and we as citizens have totally run out of option on what to do. It's totally beyond us.coming back in Sha Allah. Just not gonna involve in your politics. Do you know that Nigeria actually has many benefits that citizens are entitled to just like Western world?. I thought they don't have them. My in law was just telling me few weeks ago. Benefits (apart from pension and retirement), they have unemployment benefits, children allowance, elderly, child birth allowance, workers comp, food stamps, etc. But Nigerian politicians are not transparent at all. They supposed to advertise these things on TV for citizens to know their rights. In the Western world, they always advertise different benefits programs on TV, newspapers and all media outlets available. Have you ever heard of "owo baba" that many Nigerians and foreigners from different countries get here?. I don't encourage it but Nigeria has that too. The problem is the people in charge sit on the money and they invest the money and make profits and reinvest again. The cycle continues and they never tell you people. For instance, take a look at electricity. Is it money that they don't have to fix it?. You know this is fat lie. Even one politician can take care of stable electricity. But there are politicians who invest in generators. They will never allow for stable electricity in Nigeria, ever. Imagine Indian community (ilupeju) and several other foreign communities in Lagos have stable electricity right inside Nigeria?. Tell me why it is so difficult to fix stable light in nija?. It means some powerful people are there making money off sufferings of their people. Even if president wants to reverse this nonsense, they make sure they block him due to checks and balances because president can not enforce law. Congress (Senate and House) do that. But these crooks are within these two powerful Houses. They will not enforce laws that put them to death or prison. But they make laws that give them imúnítì. That's where the problems lie. Not resources. They need to do as Iran and China do. EXECUTE CRIMINAL POLITICIANS. This is not possible without sincerity and by getting rid of political godfatherism. Such thing is nonsense. |
Rilwayne001:good thought. Just hang them. Sick of them. Nigeria is a funny country. If you go right they go left. If you go left they go right. Too much confusions. I guess y'all gotta deal with one another like this until Jesus returns |
Rilwayne001:See what I'm saying. People need to wise up and stop voting them for second term. They are not sincere. He used first term to cajole his people to get second term. But vote them out even if they performed nice the first term. Still vote them out if they start preforming nice at the end if their first term. Nigerians should be wiser by now. I think for some reasons, it's a good thing, in so far the politician is on the right cause in his first term, to sustain his good work, I think it's always best to give him another opportunity. In Nigeria however, they use the first term to work hard and paint themselves good so they can get another term, and ones they do, they use it to squander everything. This country is a joke.that's why you need to return to 1 term technic. Vote them out. Let a new person continue the good work from where the former stopped. If they are sincere about "good work" they did first term they would continue like that in another 4yrs. But they chose not to. |
