I only choose to reply to your statements in bold. I am telling you the concern of people whose land the government is planning to acquire for the purpose of ranching and you are saying what I say is "irrelevant". Don't you think that is sheer arrogance on your part?

You said govt should buy land and "lease" it to the farmers and herdsmen. That sort of statement can only come from someone who thinks what others are saying on sensitive issues is "irrelevant". That is the real recipe for disaster.
again you don't get it. Let me say it again.

Lands in most part of Nigeria especially Yorubland are owned by families who inherited them from their forefathers. If herdsmen buy these lands from a yoruba family, Yoruba have history of conflicts within family where by some member of the family are not willing to sell the land while others want to. If they sell the land anyway to herdsmen, other family member who are not content will cause trouble which will affect fulani or cattle enterprenuers. But with govt, there is no such thing. You can't go wrong with govt. But with family, it is hell on Earth. You know too well how Yoruba kill one another over land.

You must be someone who is not very perceptive. If you were, you should know that it is precisely what happened in Ilorin that scares other tribes. If your idea or Fulani integration is dominating and ruling other people, then you are a tyrant and bully. I can tell you that people don't like tyrants and bullies.

What you should be advising government to do is utilise the vast dams, irrigation infrastructure and vast landmass that the north is blessed with to establish whatever ranches they want to establish. But for the cattle farmers in the south west, we are ready to establish our private ranches without the help of the government.
Highlighted, 100yrs from now?. Those lands have been there for donkey yrs while your people are jobless and govt loot money. If not for this crisis none of you would ever thought about the lands. Lands are just sitting there useless. Yes, anyone can do this cattle rearing business. Agree.

Real bullying is your govt looting you dry and deprived you of your basic rights like electricity. That's bullying. Recent Lagos State fixing roads for foreign president is prime example. grin

I'm sure you are just speaking for yourself. Your govt aren't sharing your view but their pockets. They would share your view only for political purposes.

As for ilorin, it is said that ilorin is not Yorubaland either. That's another argument for another day. Ilorin is a symbol of diversity. Take it or leave it.

And when I said govt should take over lands, it doesn't have to be federal. Your state can do it too instead of having lands sitting there for no reason.

This is where we are getting it wrong.

CATTLE BUSINESS IS A PERSONAL BUSINESS. JUST LIKE SHIT BUSINESS.

GOVERNMENT SHOULD HAVE NO HAND IN IT.

GOVERNMENT DOES NOT provide land for the igbo businesses in Lagos nor yoruba businesses in kano nor ijaw businesses in Benue. Businesses men go the market.

Igbo business men get kicked around wella in Lagos.

Today they build plaza here tomorrow government say move to a different location. They will reluctantly go and still continue their businesses without violently protesting or killing anybody.

Do that to these guys and they will start counting cows.
You dont get it and i am not gonna waste my time with you.

Of course the law of the land does not prohibit anyone buying land at any part of the country for agric purpose. However, locals need to beware of people from the other part of the country strategically buying large expanse of land in another region with the future aim of establishing villages and towns ruled by the "foreigners".

To be clear, Yoruba people will welcome other tribes to buy land, but they will not want a town or village ruled by an Ezeh or an Emir within their domain. Likewise the Igbos or Housa/Fulani people will not want a Yoruba kingdom within their domain. This will be a recipe for future war.
You have agreed they can buy land in the SW/SE. Anything else you said is irrelevant, excuse me. But I repeat that I don't support them buying the land for agriculture or ranches. Your approach will eventually lead to what you are trying to avoid (ruling over you).

But rather the govt should buy those lands from the people, and farmers and herdsmen should lease from govt. This is so easy. That way you don't have to worry about them taking over you because they do not own the land. But you are saying they should buy the lands. You just contradicted yourself and your proposition is recipe for disaster.

An individual Fulani can buy a land anywhere and ranch his cattle but I don't support govt backed fulani sort of cluster where a lot of fulani migrate and which will later become a village that will demand an emir in the future.
grin grin grin paranoia. Goes to show you that Fulani intregate easily than other tribes. Ilorin comes to mind. They are more Western than you. In the US, they love integration grin To have different tribes coexist. Ilorin is truly diversed. That's how it should be. When you diverse, you have no time to hate. This is the reality in New York. NY is more diverse than other states. You barely hear of race issue in New York. That's why majority igbi hate others because they are so secluded and have time to hate.

You have contradicted yourself.

Remember, this is the same way I support folks in SW/SE should have free access to the north as well. Let's just say irrational fear dey worry all of you.

If you don't want them in your area, you guys should have had similar businesses to fill up your lands. But instead, your youths are just roaming the streets jobless or do fraud instead of your state and local govt to invest heavily on those lands. Because you didn't, and there are vacant lands, therefore, fulani herdsmen are coming and I am supporting them. This will ease cost of transportation and cost of lifestock in the SE and SW.

Now, let me tell you mistake you guys are making.

When you said fulani should buy the lands by themselves instead of govt, you guys make it worst. If they buy lands in your state, they become by permanent owners. You no longer have right to claim ownership or invoke your ancestors defense or worse them to abide by your custom.

This is the reason I said govt should take responsibility of the lands by buying those lands from families or owners and reserve them for ranches and many things profitable for the community and the govt.

If govt take over, how's your problem?. Nar your money govt go spend on it?. The real problem is for fulani to buy those lands. They will claim permanent ownership.

You people don't understand. Now so you agree with what I just said?

Yes if they can abide with the traditions and custom of the host communities.
what do you mean by traditions and custom?. Once they buy the land it is theirs. They should only abide by local, state and federal laws.

There's Sharia practiced in some states in Nigeria and it is not part/recognized in the Nigerian constitution so the heardsmen must respect the host communities.
what does this mean?. It is relevant to this discussion?

The North have vast lands that can accommodate almost all if not all the heardsmen in Nigeria so most of them should seize the opportunity, build ranches there and leave the south/middle belt alone.
you have just contradicted yourself. You said above that you don't have problem with them buying land in the SW/SE.

Yea, they do have land in the North. But their business spreads across the country for decades if not for century. At least I grew up seeing them roaming the streets back in the 80s, 90s in the SW and there was no problem.

Don't you think it is really hard work for them with transportation of these lifestock all the way from North to SW which also contributes to high cost of cows, ran and sheep?.

And yes, they do have ranches in the North.

You will be surprised to hear that those cows are most likely owned by Benin indigenes who only employed the Fulani man to care for them. At least that is the way it is for more than 80% of cattle reared in the South West. Ranching by the private owners of the cattle is the answer. Government has no business in providing ranches for private livestock businessmen.
would you support herdsmen buying their own ranches in the SW/SE if they are so willing, and since they have been grazing there for decades?. Why i asked is bcus the local buy these cows from them which means it is a business.

I am not talking about forcefully taking the land but buying for themselves (for ranching) from their own capital?.

You sound educated but it still baffle me how you missed the issue on ground.
Ranching is the modern way to go YES but the cow owners should buy their lands, materials and equipments for it. Why must the government force people to give up lands while neglecting their duty to protect Nigerians and why must the government support this so called heardsmen with so much passion, cash and other aids while ignoring our technology, meaningful investments, educational and medical sectors.
What's so speacial about beef in a country that's struggling with almost everything ? The cow owners are bussiness men because they sell their cows and the milk reserves are also sold but I guess they do not pay tax or add so much value to the economy so what is giving them all this guts to the extent of holding the country to to a standstill.
Do you agree they should be allowed to buy lands in SW and SE as well with their own capital since they are already in these areas for decades?

But irrespective of all this , I think Buhari should man up and solve this issue once and for all.
Really, when it comes to killings, that's not Buhari responsibility before decision is made. Lives and properties MUST be protected, and this is the duty of law enforcement. They don't need politicians to give them order before stopping this madness.

So why would police, sars and all local and federal law enforcement are silent and inactive baffles me. This is a red flag suggesting the fact that Nigerian security agencies have been breeched.

Police or law enforcement have no business with settlement between herdsmen and farmers. Their only business is to ensure safety of all citizens of the nation. They failed. Why would killings go on for hours without police intervention?. That's a red flag. It shows there is something more to this.

Buhari however needs to reprimand all law enforcement officials. Either fire them and replace them with more competent people and make sure all federal and local law enforcement leaders face some sort of punishment. They must give explanatiom for their ominous silence. They are tasked for safety of the people. Their pay must be cut and demoted or fired.

That’s what I thought also. It’s an already harvested dry maize. But that dosen’t warrant them to invade the farm tho. Although, the Fulani guy left easily when the guy told him to leave
I still don't know why this is issue. Haven't Fulani been grazing openly like this in Nigeria and Yorubaland for decades without issues.

Why all the sudden problems now?.

Listen, there are some evil minded self serving people pushing these conflicts not average fulani. As you and the other guy rightly suggested, what i am seeing is already harvested farm.

Those days we were even glad the cows ate the grasses. It was like they helped weed out the farm since most of those farms weren't make use of. Ranching is the way to go now in modern time.

Let's support ranches across the country.

It's not new. First the man is anti Buhari in 2007, in 2011 he is also against Buhari. He ask Buhari in 2015 not to contest, that he should allow Kwankwaso instead.

His main issue with Buhari recently is the arrest of former governor of Kaduna Lamaran Yaro. According to him stealing of public fund is not a crime in as far as you build mosque, use it to establish Sharia etc.

Also he doesn't consider sheik Nasirul dinul Albany to be a good Hadith scholar. He alledly called him a munafiq which is yet to deny it.

He is medical doctor by profession. Also part of his believe is Mazhaba Imamu Malik is superior to Bukhari or Muslim Hadith. Exacept in the case of Muttafaqun alaik (Both Bukhari and Muslim in single Hadith)

Last week in more than 2 hours audio he was exposed, where he lied, or quoting something from Bukhari that never even exist in the book.
Hummm, thanks for the exposition. I have been following his political stance randomly for 4 yrs now. If he doesn't slam Muslims he would slam P. Bukhari. I hate when he doesn't act objectively with sense.

Burna Boy who have reason for his decison, disclosed that Nigeria have youths who are too scared to fight for their future. According to him, people who think they can implement change by voting for same crop of old politicians are delusional and are part of the problem.

Burna Boy also took a swipe at President Buhari, who received President Emmanuel Macron of France during his recent visit to Nigeria. It is alleged that President Emmanuel Macron was only 6 years old when President Buhari was Nigeria's head of state, fast forward to 2018, President Buhari is still in power.

Nairaland GeneralRe: 5 Reasons Why Nigerians Get Excited About Fridays by Empiree: 9:09pm On Jul 06, 2018
beejayvince:
For some people, Fridays are considered sinister days. This is particularly due to the "Friday the 13th" talk all over.

For Nigerians however, Friday has now been seen as a party day. It is a day many Nigerians look forward to, knowing there will be one party or the other. It does not matter that Nigeria is "terrible" enough in itself. Nigerians make the most by learning to enjoy it.

But is partying the only reason Nigerians get excited about Fridays? Of course not!

Here are 5 reasons why Nigerians look forward to - and get excited about - Fridays.

1. Friday marks the last working day of the week.
This may not be correct for every organisation, but most corporate offices close for the week on Friday. The workers do not have to go to work again until the following Monday. Of course, that is something to look forward to.

2. Fridays are party days.
Nigerians like to party, and Friday has become the unofficially official party day. It is a day to go out with the "boiz" or with the "galz". Various clubs have caught the fever, and have special parties on Fridays.

3. Weekend starts on Friday.
After work closes on Friday, weekend starts. Nigerians no longer wait till Saturday to enjoy the weekend. So, for a number of Nigerians, they start their weekend activities on Fridays. Movies especially seem to do well on Friday evenings.

4. Friday is the last day of school.
Not only the working class look forward to Fridays. Students do so too. They get excited, knowing that school closes for the week on Friday and they don't have to go to school again till Monday. This may not really work for higher education students though.

5. Friday is Juma'ah.
Fridays are not all about partying. A number of Nigerian Muslims specially look forward to this day for worship. Typically, Friday is to Muslims as Sunday is to Christians - a special day of worship. So, Muslims generally look forward to it.

See full gist in link below. Is there any point you think should be added? Do place a comment.

So usermane, reality is, in the US, it seems underage is actually below 10 not 18 in the US at least. You know why?. I have never seen authority persecuted a guy consuming relationship with under 18 girl and above 10.

The ones they persecuted are always men sexually difiled 7yr old girl like a Nigerian man who was recently deported for having sexual relation with 7yr old girl in 2002 . So it appears to be norm throughout history of human to marry girls far below 18. It is not Islam thing.

Non-muslims are simply being hypocritical about it because Islam is involved.

The issue of Aisha however, quran is clear that she was a woman. There is evidence in the Qur'an that nabi(saw) married a woman (Aisha) not a child.

Specific age mentioned in the Hadith is irrelevant.
