Christianity Etc › Re: How Did Judas Iscariot Actually Die? by Empiree:
TheMadame:
I am not a Muslim nor an atheist, but a Christian, who desires knowledge. When I read my Bible I ask questions.
The questions are-
1.How did Judas die? A.Hanging? B.Burst asunder?
2.Who bought the field of blood?Judas or the Chief priests and elders?
3. Did Judas receive forgiveness for his sins or is he perpetually condemned? Remember the passage says he repented.
Remember all I quoted is from the Bible.
How did they make it out?. Doesnt seem christians answered your questions. I just raised the same here today https://www.nairaland.com/2321487/pay-christian-n100-000-show/2 and this

lanrexlan:
What they don’t need are lazy calls for an Islamic reformation from non-Muslims and ex-Muslims, the repetition of which merely illustrates how shallow and simplistic, how ahistorical and even anti-historical, some of the west’s leading commentators are on this issue. It is much easier for them, it seems, to reduce the complex debate over violent extremism to a series of cliches, slogans and soundbites, rather than examining root causes or historical trends; easier still to champion the most extreme and bigoted critics of Islam while ignoring the voices of mainstream Muslim scholars, academics and activists.
Hirsi Ali, for instance, was treated to a series of encomiums and softball questions in her blizzard of US media interviews, from the New York Times to Fox News. (“A hero of our time,” read one gushing headline on Politico.) Frustratingly, only comedian Jon Stewart, on The Daily Show, was willing to point out to Hirsi Ali that her reformist hero wanted a “purer form of Christianity” and helped create “a hundred years of violence and mayhem”.

With apologies to Luther, if anyone wants to do the same to the religion of Islam today, it is Isis leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, who claims to rape and pillage in the name of a “purer form” of Islam – and who isn’t, incidentally, a fan of the Jews either. Those who cry so simplistically, and not a little inanely, for an Islamic reformation, should be careful what they wish for.

The truth is that Islam has already had its own reformation of sorts, in the sense of a stripping of cultural accretions and a process of supposed “purification”. And it didn’t produce a tolerant, pluralistic, multifaith utopia, a Scandinavia-on-the-Euphrates. Instead, it produced … the kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Wasn’t reform exactly what was offered to the masses of the Hijaz by Muhammad Ibn Abdul Wahhab, the mid-18th century itinerant preacher who allied with the House of Saud? He offered an austere Islam cleansed of what he believed to be innovations, which eschewed centuries of mainstream scholarship and commentary, and rejected the authority of the traditional ulema, or religious authorities.
Some might argue that if anyone deserves the title of a Muslim Luther, it is Ibn Abdul Wahhab who, in the eyes of his critics, combined Luther’s puritanism with the German monk’s antipathy towards the Jews. Ibn Abdul Wahhab’s controversial stance on Muslim theology, writes his biographer Michael Crawford, “made him condemn much of the Islam of his own time” and led to him being dismissed as a heretic by his own family.
Don’t get me wrong. Reforms are of course needed across the crisis-ridden Muslim-majority world: political, socio-economic and, yes, religious too. Muslims need to rediscover their own heritage of pluralism, tolerance and mutual respect – embodied in, say, the Prophet’s letter to the monks of St Catherine’s monastery, or the “convivencia” (or co-existence) of medieval Muslim Spain.
Christianity Etc › Re: Why Islam Doesn't Need Reformation Like Christianity by Empiree: 1:01am On May 19, 2015
lanrexlan:
Islam isn’t Christianity. The two faiths aren’t analogous, and it is deeply ignorant, not to mention patronising, to pretend otherwise – or to try and impose a neatly linear, Eurocentric view of history on diverse Muslim-majority countries in Asia or Africa. Each religion has its own traditions and texts; each religion’s followers have been affected by geopolitics and socio-economic processes in a myriad of ways. The theologies of Islam and Christianity, in particular, are worlds apart: the former, for instance, has never had a Catholic-style clerical class answering to a divinely appointed pope. So against whom will the “Islamic reformation” be targeted? To whose door will the 95 fatwas be nailed?
Nothing could be further from the truth.

sorry, how does this answer my question?.

Islam's definition of "underage" is actually not what mainstream media portray. So my definition of it is definitely different from what these hypocrites think.

Again, how does your post answer my question?.

Luke gospel did not record the death of judas meaning Luke did not witnesses it HE pay attention to the life of Jesus christ.

It was in acts that Luke later record it but he did not record judas hanging meaning he did not witnesses it but he witnesses the dead body.
Here is acts account:

Acts 1:18-19 Now THIS man purchased
a field with the reward of INEQUITY;
and FALLING headlong, he burst
asunder in the midst, and all his
bowels gushed out. And it was known
unto all the dwellers at Jerusalem;
insomuch as that field is called in
their proper tongue, Aceldama, that is
to say, The field of blood.

From where did judas body fall from?as a matter of fact acts account was a teaching, why did Luke used the word inequity? It mean Luke was teaching FROM the actual event in MATTHEW.

The complement is greatly appreciated! smiley. At least, your real intention is known. However, for the sake of those who are not here to scoff,
" The word here rendered "headlong" - πρηνής prēnēs (Latin "pronus," whence our English word "prone"wink - means properly "bent forward, head-foremost"; and the idea is, that his position in hanging himself was such that when the cord broke he fell headlong, or fell forward on his face. This can easily be supposed if he threw himself from a rock or elevated place. He first hanged himself, and then fell and was burst asunder "(Culled from Biblehub) For a translation that took place in 1611, the failure to transliterate is pardonable.
Story story Mr. scholar. You only tried to give your personal interpretation which is quiet straw. Your Bible says there is no personal interpretation of biblical verse. 2 Peter 1:20: "First, you must understand this: No passage in Scripture is a matter of one’s own interpretation."

Let me reiterate

Matthew 27:5
"Then he threw down the pieces of silver in the temple and departed, and went and hanged himself"

Acts 1:18
"Now this man purchased a field with the wages of iniquity; and falling headlong, he burst open in the middle and all his entrails gushed out."

do you know the meaning of contradiction at all? Matthew say Judas hang himself and Luke account in acts did not deny judas hang himself. show me were Luke deny judas was hang?
I like to see where Luke agreed with Matthew. Luke and Matthew gave different accounts of the incident. Now dont derail this thread. I only responded quickly to your fellow christian who claim bible is infallible
Christianity Etc › Re: I will Pay any Christian N300, 000 if you can show me Where This Moutain Is? by Empiree: 6:57pm On May 18, 2015
malvisguy212:
just as scholar say, no contradiction in here.Matthew 27:1-10 mentioned the fact that Judas died by hanging himself in order to be strictly factual. Luke, however in his
report in Acts1:18-19 wants to cause the
feeling of revulsion among his readers,
for the field spoken about and for Judas, and nowhere denies that Judas died by hanging. According to tradition, it would seem that Judas hanged himself on the edge of a cliff, above the Valley of Hinnom. Eventually the rope snapped, was cut or untied and Judas fell upon the field below as described by Luke.
Nonsense!. you contradicted your Bible scholars. Their commentary contradicts yours just like I said to your fellow christian on rilwayne's thread. And their commentaries contradict each other as well.

Yes, no contradiction there; one has to be on an elevated point before falling can occur.
Hanging: to attach or place something so that it is held up without support from below

: to decorate (a surface) by hanging something (such as a picture) on it

Christianity Etc › Re: Question: Did Jesus Read The Bible? by Empiree:
I really intend to write more details on Paul being 'founder' of Christianity. There are obvious references contained in the Bible in this regard. I just hope I can have time and not being lazy to do that. In Hebrew 6:1 Paul said:

"Therefore let us leave the elementary doctrine of Christ and go on to maturity, not laying again a foundation of repentance from dead works and of faith toward God,"

It appears that Paul deliberately drifted from original teachings of Jesus(AS) because of the evil done by the Jews who supposedly killed him. Paul said in subsequent verses (2 &3) that he moved away from Jesus doctrines like ablution, Salat and other doctrines(etc) laid down by Jesus(AS)

Verses 4-6
"It is impossible for those who have once been enlightened, who have tasted the heavenly gift, who have shared in the Holy Spirit, who have tasted the goodness of the word of God and the powers of the coming age and who have fallen away, to be brought back to repentance."

Statement of Paul here seems to imply that, for instance, modern Muslims should abandon obligatory duties laid down by prophet Muhammad(SAW) because of faults committed by some Muslims earlier. That is how it sounds to me. Correct me if I am wrong.

I support your position though with slight difference

What I disagreed with AbuuUsaamah earlier was when he said the prophet(ﷺ) only have knowledge within the realm of religiosity. That concept is very wrong. I was not concern much about the hadith of camel etc.

Baqir is very correct with regard to the prophetﷺ. I do not believe for one second that prophetﷺ dont know everything in the Qur'an. That's just too literal.

I don't subscribe to the whole religion ish...but if she will be fair to do to christianity what she is doing to islam, cos am sure the bible contains more gory tales than any other religious book on earth, just that she has decide to be one sided and that's my problem with her.
It shows that the so called points she is raising against islam was as a result of hatred and not rational reasoning and that has rendered her points void of any truth.
You think she has sense?. She has none. And those queuing behind her back are just as clueless as her. Example is channelz. His definition of 'truth' is asymmetrical.

Ifeann's case is like parable of an upscale woman in the midst of penurious ones. Whatever posh says, her stooges accept it as truth. What a waste!
